  • Nikon Z6ii 1.4 firmware update - Is It A game Changer?
    So recently we were treated to a new piece of firmware for the Nikon Z6ii. The firmware version 1.4 which address some ongoing issues with the performance of the Nikon Z6ii.
    This is just a few of my thoughts on firmware version 1.4 and any noticeable improvements in the performance of the Nikon Z6ii overall.
    this includes a cinematic wedding video that I created for a client so be sure to stick around towards the end of the video and see how the Nikon Z6ii performs as a wedding video camera also.

      Would you judge me if I was honest and said I can't recall what images are in this video? 😂

    Thanks. I really liked the shooting. I also do hybrid photography. For the last 6 years, I have been shooting on the Fuji X system. But I want to go to the full frame. And it is on the Nikon system. Once, I shot a lot on D3s-D4s. I like Nikon colors. They are close to the colors of Fuji. Good luck to you.

      Wow. I am in the same boat. My first camera ever was a Apsc nikon but then I switched to Fuji XT2 and now I have a Fuji XT4 which I don't really enjoy. I also want to go back to Nikon mainly for wildlife but I,can't afford Z9. I wish they bring a advance Apsc mirroless with animal eye tracking. Otherwise I am going to have to buy Cannon R7 😅

      @@IanSandersonPhotography You kept me interested long enough. I'm a Z6ii owner too, shooting mostly portraits and glamour. I, like you, question whether the firmware upgrade was a significant improvement at the same time I must consider I'm getting better at using the system. But I think we both agree, Nikon still owes us significant improvements in autofocus.

    You say you use face detection and eye detection a lot, what do you use if you have to focus on a object.

    • @IanSandersonPhotography
      @IanSandersonPhotography  2 года назад +1

      The same one. It defaults down if no face or eye is present in the scene. I know some people fine the general auro area to be poor with object detection. If that fails I either use single point of manual.
      I've hot a video schedul3d talking about the pinpoint mode and that mode is truly garbage

      @@IanSandersonPhotography Thanks Ian - I did a event shoot yesterday - I met a sony videographer, he mentioned the advantages of shooting 10 bit over 8 bit. I'm staying with Nikon but hoping a mid range Z8/Z6III come out soon with 10 bit.

    • @IanSandersonPhotography
      @IanSandersonPhotography  2 года назад

      @@markshirley01 You can get the 10 bit through the paid upgrade. But i think it has to be to an external recorder. For whati do the 8 bit seems to be fine. I don't need to go made with colour grading or recovering shadows. There is a way to simulate a Log profile which give a bit more control. But i finbd it's an unnecessary step

    • @reneefariasphoto40
      @reneefariasphoto40 2 года назад

      @@markshirley01 You can get 10 bit but not internal in the Z7ii, if ever interested. You would need to add an Atamos recorder. I use the Z7ii and the Z9. But the Z9 is an overkill in photo, for my needs, and magical in video. I am not a wedding photographer.

    Unfortunately, it is not making the Z6 II or Z7 II really a better camera. They stay to be the mirrorless turd muffins in Nikon's product portfolio, waiting in a termination or replacement. If you want a camera, especially for Wildlife, please no Z6 II or Z7 II. Get the Z9 or another brand.

      Ah shame you feel that way. I see people getting amazing results with both as wildlife cameras. Personally, I've just finished wedding 100 with the Z6ii. I find it's almost perfect for what I do.

      Lol..thats what Jared Polin speaking…we are too much obsessed with the camera mechanics that we tend to forget that photography is not just about that perfect camera but also about the skillset of the person and how you get accustomed with the tool😝😝except high action photography you dont need the Z9 level autofocus speed..Z6ii and Z7ii are absolutely wonderful cameras..it may not have the Z9 level af performance but it really does well in all other areas like portraits,landscape,wildlife,stills,low light photography etc.Most of the people of our generation is chasing specifications rather than building the actual skill.

      And I'm still shooting wildlife with Z6 and ZFC. There is no reason not to use cameras belohnt Z9.
