Thank you so much for making and sharing this!! I’ve done aquarium maintenance for over a decade and never had this specific valve leak until recently. Luckily my LFS could tell me the part to order so I didn’t have to replace the whole system, but they couldn’t tell me how to install it. Really appreciate you taking the time to share, so helpful!!
Hi Matt, really useful video, it helped a lot, I've had several issues over the last 2 days with he filter and never used the drainage valve before, it was the final straw, grrrrr. I had cross threading screws, broken plastic lugs for the lid, the nut fell out of the housing for the impeller unit and now this lol. I eventually drained down and removed the drainage unit with the help of your video but could not at all remove the red valve which you simply pressed through, you must have Kryptonite powers, I eventually used a "AA" battery to press against to force the red valve out, unfortunately the o ring was broken, through one use omg, maybe because I haven't use it the o ring was dry and broke because of that, no idea. I'm hoping not to add to my FX6 purchases on top of the service kit and plastics lungs of yesterday with another £20 on a whole drainage unit, anyone have a idea if I can replace these o rings?
So happy the video has helped you! And yeah if the valves are not used fairly regularly they become more and more difficult to move and to push the valve out of the body. I would say the regular o-rings can be replaced by any o-ring from a local hardware store of the same size but the intake and outlet valve o-rings are not just simple Os they are a complex o-ring that you would have to buy from fluval unfortunately. Good luck with the repairs and let me know if you need anything else.
The ears broke off of my drain valve too. I just added a short hose to it with a nice valve I had laying around. I leave the old valve open and the hose from the new valve goes through the wall to the outside plants. 👍
@@jessicasims9736go to 8:00 of the video and follow the instructions, to turn the drainage valve 1/4 turn downwards there is a small tab that wants to prevent the valve from accidentally turning. So you will have to manually press that locking tab out of the way so the drain valve can rotate once you have it rotated so the red “ears” of the valve face down towards the bottom of the canister you can then pull that valve straight out of the filter.
Thanks for the comment! Sorry you felt it was a waste, this set up works quite well for me and my fish are extremely healthy. I appreciate your feedback

@@BigCichlidsWy wasn't saying you were wrong Abt anything. You could have more media is all. I had 11 FX6s And 4 FX4s before going to sunsun. Sunsun holds more media, more flow then an FX4, comes with UV light, spray bar, and is $99 The little Caesars of canisters
@@mmh5481 lol that’s awesome I love it!! Little Caesars of canisters. Yeah this fx6 is definitely under utilized the other fx6 on this tank is more loaded up like you’re saying but I had robbed some media out of this one for jump starting a sump I set up. And yes totally agree about sun sun I have 6 of the hw-3000 and love them. Thanks for the words buddy!! Happy fish keeping

Love that idea! Brilliant
What would cause my fluval fx4 not cycling out air bubbles at start up or at the 12 hr intervals?
Are you saying it is no longer turning off every 24 hours to purge air out?
I can't seem to get my valve out,can you help me out
Yeah absolutely, are you not able to get it off the filter itself or are you not able to get the valve seat out of the valve body?

You're loud music makes it really hard to hear anything you are saying. Why? Please consider removing it from future videos
Thank you for the input. And yes I no longer add the background music mostly because copyright laws hahaha
What a waste. Fx6 doesnt hold much media at all and you didnt even fill your baskets all the way
