What a fantastic build. I, too, have spent 20 years messing around with goofball theorycrafted d2 builds and I must say this one sits up pretty high. Every time you find an azurewrath or a lightsaber (if you're like me) you spend a minute staring at the screen, wondering what the hell you could possibly do with these super cool, yet seemingly limited swords. 10/10 build!
Absorb does stack. Percentage is applied before integer.Lightning resist is applied before all absorbs. So for example 75% resist 40%absorb and 20flat absorb on 400 incoming lightning damage gives you: 1: 75 % resist decreases 400 to 100 2. 40% absorb decreases 100 to 60 3. 20 absorb decreases 60 to 40 4. All absorb healing is applied 40+20 so you will be healed by 20

OMG man!!! this works better than i expected! I consider that in general the barbarian does very little damage with all his abilities and I hoped that in this new patch they would give some damage buff to ww (I still think he deserves it) and to frenzy too, but you have left me speechless with this build since It doesn't seem like it needs a buff, I think it would be interesting if they gave these weapons a little buff to prevent people from just wanting to do runewords, it would surely enable paladin to also use them for ubers or pve content, one of the best videos I've seen I've seen! simply sensational, great job here I will become addicted to your channel with videos of this style getting the best out of each build at low cost, congratulations
To be honest, WW does not need a Damage buff, it just needs a buff on how it works. Right now it attacks a single target in weapons range every so many ticks depending on Weapon Speed. WW should change to attacking a target every so many ticks depending on weapons range but then attack something at all of those ranges (a weapon with 4 range would be able to attack a target at range 1, 2, 3 and 4). This would make it quite cool to use 2 big 2-handers for WW instead of just using double Grief.
Try switching between frenzy and double swing. That is, get frenzy ti max, then DPS with double swing, then switch back to keep the buff up, repeat. I think it is significantly more efficient.

Uber Tristram on RUclips: Make sure to proc Treachery by standing in a fire over there. Uber Tristram in my game: Mephisto sees me as soon as i enter the red portal.
You really don't need it. Highlord's and wisp/dwarf/raven does great for me. The lightsabre is always hitting, and the azurewrath is always hitting undead, and hitting everything else at 70%. I can't find a good case for stacking AR.
Lightning absorb as a number stacks with lightning absorb as a percentage, I'm not sure which is applied first but either way it's nice. For example, if you get hit with 100 points of lightning damage from an attack and you have 40% lightning absorb, and 20 flat lightning absorb, the 40% gives you 40 HP instead of you taking and the 20 flat gives you an additional 20 HP. So instead of taking 100 damage you heal for 60 then take 40, it's much more effective when you get hit with lots of small hits instead of one big hit.
The barb is my favorite. Been doing IK builds and wanted to do something different and didn't want to do the whirlwind like most other people. Love the video.
This is some killer knowledge. I was finally able to do ubers folllowing this guide hanks buddy! I changed one of the swords out for grief and used fortitude armour with treachery fade. :)
Honestly I was getting steamrolled with grief/death, fortitude and a life tap wand, switched to azurewrath death duress and it worked like a charm. The reminder that barbs can howl enemies away also helped lol, my dumb self forgot about that my first 3 tries
Supprised you didnt chat about the usefulness of double swing with max frenzy charges. Double swing has a hidden 50%-80% ias boost, cant remember the exact number, but it also tends to help all on hit effects happen more often due to its mechanics. Ideally you keep frenzy stacked, throw a few double swings in, then frenzy again to keep it stacked to optimize damage output. I could be very wrong but I recall this being a thing years ago. Confirm / deny!
I was always under the impression once you hit max IAS breakpoint it is actually a dps loss due to the fact Frenzy hits harder. Though might be wrong and also that is probably under the assumption the IAS has caps and breakpoints as D2 did but seems D2R doesn't.
Sanctuary is one of the most important reasons why you can kill physical immune monsters. Most of the physical immune monsters are undead and sanctuary can remove all physical resistance from the undead. So just a Lawbringer RW is a good replacement.
Nice guide. If i had to add something, is about the mana leach part where uber bosses have 0-20% drain effectiveness , practically making you mana leach negligible.
@@Xtimus Yo, got this built and cleared Uber once and then got booted off bnet second run after picking up 2 organs. Only problem I'm having is I've died a couple of times from Lilith and using a ton of full rejuvs. is this normal for this type of budget char?
Until you find the Azurewrath you can use the runeword Lawbringer AmnLemKo it will also give elemental damage and up to lvl 17 Sanctuary So it's good as a really budget variant until you get Azurewrath.
@@bliceone oh yeah for sure but you know bad gear is better than no gear :P That runeword saved mu butt in Hell because when I played D2R at release I just wanted to get through it and then power level and get the gear. I had a good merc though so I just stood back and let my merc do the killing :P
Cool build, my budget smiter w/o grief kills them all faster than you killed Uber meph though. As long as it works though, that's what counts. I love seeing new builds.

Frenzy is a great beginner build, it doesn’t require expensive or particularly rare equipment to be successful in endgame and is easy to play. It’s also the only character in original LoD realm I ever had reach Lv99

I already have a barb and wanna try this out, I just have 2 questions. 1.Why not Arreats over Guillaumes? Besides CB, I think the +skills,stats and resis might play a role here. Arreats is usually best in slot for barbs even at ubers, but wanna hear why you picked it. 2.I alrady have both sword but considering fitting an Oath cyrptic sword to do more phys damage, I dont think I can leech from magic/elemental damage, but seems like its a good combo for lighting sword, wondering If I can do Azu/oath for all the ubers except Mephisto. Again, nice build man, really loved it!
1. I chose Gface for the crushing blow and deadly strike. Arreats is good for survivability however I think you should try to take down mephisto so as quickly as possible because he does so much damage. Even if you had that extra survivability there’s still a chance he can take you down. 2. You could probably replace light saber with oath just make sure you have either thunder gods or a wisp projector on for that lightning absorb
Some suggestions for the unkillable merc….run the Toll still as their wep but swap to a socketed GA upped armor and a socketed Kira’s. I run that merc on my zealot players 8 trav single player high runes farm and he’s an absolute tank As far as your weapons you could swap to relatively cheap runewords like Oath and Lawbringer. I think Lawbringer is super under rated for a frenzy barb off hand situationally. I’m actually running a Grief and Crescent Moon on my own frenzy barb in SP.

Always wanted to drop eth duress then up it to great hauberk for merc..its the single player armor thats got the most offensive function rather than defensive..
I reccomend maxing zerk as a synergy for frenzy adding magic damage % to your frenzy. Also when fully frenzied you can zerk phys immunes to death quite fast! Gg build though with azure/light sabre i love this. My frenzy barb can murder all the ubers but is nothing like this. Shows the huge power of the Baba!
I have a lvl 80 druid and 72 summon necro, felt lost about what's next (I only play hardcore) ... Toying with lightning jav but I think you answered this for me. Now that it seems affordable I'm super excited, haven't played a barb in literally two decades lmao.
Lawbringer has chance to proc decrepify. Which would remove life tap. You can only have one curse going at a time. That's why he said don't bring your mercenary. Because reapers toll does the same.
Shaftstop isn't bad, but if you can get lucky like I did, swap to Leviathan armor. The bonus STR is nice so you don't have to wait till level 94 for your mercenary to naturally have enough STR to use a Colossus Voulge.
Today is the first day I completed uber Tristram using a smiter, but what makes me feel shame is I had died once, finally, I get a pal torch with the lowest statics, hope the next time I will do better.
this is pretty dope, i would change some things though, metalgridan dwarf star for angelic halo and wings, and maybe use a superior ornate plate rather than the archon pate, just for aesthetic reasons, i personally hate that rollerblading gear in barbs!!!, also i use skills on the right and just hold right button down, or lock mouse in windowed mode
Quick question. You have Azurewrath+Treachery and you can make Lawbringer and ( Oath or Duress) ( you have 1 Um ). What would you choose to pair Azur and why?
AFAIK Lawbringer RW, while being on a cheaper side, grants you same Sanctuary aura plus ctc Decrepify. Isn't it all-around better? edit: I see your merc procs Decrepify, but I'd rather give him Pride (not a cheap RW, I know) and proc Decrepify myself. Leaving it to merc is too risky.
So I go treachery, lightsaber, lawbringer, highlords, arreat's, lava, raven, upped nightsmoke, dual leech ring and aldurs and though I haven't tried ubers it shred through everything and is a great key hunter. Also finding bo sticks at A5 store and life tap wands is stupid easy, optimally you want to find 3bo life tap throwing daggers
What do you think of swapping the Metalgrid for Highlords and using Demon Limb for Enchant? It's one more thing to add to the pre-buff, which is a little annoying, but I think you probably end up with about as much AR if you consider that the +1 to skills gives + to mastery and frenzy, + all synergies, bo, etc. so (if that's true, haven't actually checked the math) you trade a bit defensive stats for what I would assume is a huge boost in damage, and you also aren't even losing lightning res, so that seems like a good deal to me. Edit: Though now that I think of it, I guess deadly strike probably isn't nearly as useful with those swords, considering a giant chunk of your damage isn't physical. But another thing to consider is that with these sword, (I'm guessing) most of your damage will come from crushing blow, so the 20% attack speed is really nice... And come to think of it, that's another reason Laying of Hands would be a potentially better alternative. The damage to demons isn't actually all that useful here (only applies to physical dmg if I'm not mistaken), but 50% fire res is pretty killer for if there's a lot of fire casters or you accidentally pull diablo or something. But I'm also going to be using Grief on my main hand. Thoughts? Once I gather enough keys I'll be giving ubers a try for the first time with my fury barb! Edit 2: Update: It was actually way easier than I expected... I didn't even need Lightsabre or Wisp, just threw on an Ort'ed Kira's and it felt like Meph barely did any damage. I think next time I'll try out swapping Angelic in for Baal (don't have metalgrid), he seemed by far the hardest to hit.

1. With Lilith - make sure you have Faded proced, it really helps with her poison nova which can be deadly. 2. I put Shael on Lightsabre for IAS and Amn on Azurewrath for additional 7% life leach.
Deadly strike with Lo runes. This would still make it relatively cheap build, or you can go all put and put some ber runes for actual crushing blow... which would be pretty pricey, but still make you that much better. I'd say probably go with Lo runes, or get some 15 AIS dmg to mana jewels.. either way, I'd say this build does well enough.

But don’t resists play a role in this is well? I know there’s a way to actually gain life from absorbing damage.

you can find a life tap wand really easy from Akara in act 1. Should help if anyone has trouble finding it.
Just to add to that, open a Cow portal next to her to quickly reset her inventory

I love people who do stuff that isn’t geared around having 5-6 Jah runes handy. This deserves more play than the “big” streamers. More of this please.
If you have a LOT of socket quests and are on a budget - perfect amythesists +100 attack rating actually does help to hit a lot when put in weapons.

G face provide tons of mele dmg + fhr , otherwise areat provide survivel ability , but still considering dmg output to Ubers.

Both Lawbringer and R toll are fine unless you're doing ubers/dclone as you need the life tap.

for the ring slot another budget and cool option you can go for is a hit power ring. the frost nova when struck can be really nice
Angelic Ammy + Ring set is another cheap choice for a huge attack rating boost.

Always wanted to drop eth duress then up it to great hauberk for merc..its the single player armor thats got the most offensive function rather than defensive..

IIRC life leech does work on bosses but only at like 10% efficiency, back in the day i used to stack ~60% life leech for boss killing.
I reccomend maxing zerk as a synergy for frenzy adding magic damage % to your frenzy. Also when fully frenzied you can zerk phys immunes to death quite fast! Gg build though with azure/light sabre i love this. My frenzy barb can murder all the ubers but is nothing like this. Shows the huge power of the Baba!

I have a lvl 80 druid and 72 summon necro, felt lost about what's next (I only play hardcore) ... Toying with lightning jav but I think you answered this for me. Now that it seems affordable I'm super excited, haven't played a barb in literally two decades lmao.

Lawbringer PB (Amn+Lem+Ko) might be better to use than Azurewrath, and it's easier to get. Otherwise, interesting build.
Lawbringer has chance to proc decrepify. Which would remove life tap. You can only have one curse going at a time. That's why he said don't bring your mercenary. Because reapers toll does the same.

Shaftstop isn't bad, but if you can get lucky like I did, swap to Leviathan armor. The bonus STR is nice so you don't have to wait till level 94 for your mercenary to naturally have enough STR to use a Colossus Voulge.

If u play on singleplayer and cant find metalgrid u can use AR chams too
Today is the first day I completed uber Tristram using a smiter, but what makes me feel shame is I had died once, finally, I get a pal torch with the lowest statics, hope the next time I will do better.
this is pretty dope, i would change some things though, metalgridan dwarf star for angelic halo and wings, and maybe use a superior ornate plate rather than the archon pate, just for aesthetic reasons, i personally hate that rollerblading gear in barbs!!!,
also i use skills on the right and just hold right button down, or lock mouse in windowed mode
what would you recc for merc weapon for Uber Tristam? in vid you say don't bring merc with reapers into uber Tristram?
Quick question. You have Azurewrath+Treachery and you can make Lawbringer and ( Oath or Duress) ( you have 1 Um ). What would you choose to pair Azur and why?
Great build guide/demonstration that is actually pretty cheap budget. Frenzy Barbs don't get enough love IMO.
Do you think the Metalgrid is still mandatory if I have access to an Enchant Sorc? I suppose the Resistance will still be really helpful.
AFAIK Lawbringer RW, while being on a cheaper side, grants you same Sanctuary aura plus ctc Decrepify. Isn't it all-around better?
edit: I see your merc procs Decrepify, but I'd rather give him Pride (not a cheap RW, I know) and proc Decrepify myself. Leaving it to merc is too risky.
So I go treachery, lightsaber, lawbringer, highlords, arreat's, lava, raven, upped nightsmoke, dual leech ring and aldurs and though I haven't tried ubers it shred through everything and is a great key hunter. Also finding bo sticks at A5 store and life tap wands is stupid easy, optimally you want to find 3bo life tap throwing daggers

What aura does your act 2 merc have? i know its glitched in d2r to show an aura depending on what difficulty your game is at.

What do you think of swapping the Metalgrid for Highlords and using Demon Limb for Enchant? It's one more thing to add to the pre-buff, which is a little annoying, but I think you probably end up with about as much AR if you consider that the +1 to skills gives + to mastery and frenzy, + all synergies, bo, etc. so (if that's true, haven't actually checked the math) you trade a bit defensive stats for what I would assume is a huge boost in damage, and you also aren't even losing lightning res, so that seems like a good deal to me.
Edit: Though now that I think of it, I guess deadly strike probably isn't nearly as useful with those swords, considering a giant chunk of your damage isn't physical. But another thing to consider is that with these sword, (I'm guessing) most of your damage will come from crushing blow, so the 20% attack speed is really nice... And come to think of it, that's another reason Laying of Hands would be a potentially better alternative. The damage to demons isn't actually all that useful here (only applies to physical dmg if I'm not mistaken), but 50% fire res is pretty killer for if there's a lot of fire casters or you accidentally pull diablo or something. But I'm also going to be using Grief on my main hand. Thoughts?
Once I gather enough keys I'll be giving ubers a try for the first time with my fury barb!
Edit 2: Update: It was actually way easier than I expected... I didn't even need Lightsabre or Wisp, just threw on an Ort'ed Kira's and it felt like Meph barely did any damage. I think next time I'll try out swapping Angelic in for Baal (don't have metalgrid), he seemed by far the hardest to hit.
Treachery Andy’s and insight is best set for merc. Fade give damage reduced and break point it’s no curses etc

1) Gotta say though I had really rough time with Lilith - any tips on knocking her down easier?
2) Also I was considering socketing both Azurewrath and Lightsabre - any runes or jewels you would consider to make runs smoother?

1. With Lilith - make sure you have Faded proced, it really helps with her poison nova which can be deadly.
2. I put Shael on Lightsabre for IAS and Amn on Azurewrath for additional 7% life leach.
Deadly strike with Lo runes. This would still make it relatively cheap build, or you can go all put and put some ber runes for actual crushing blow... which would be pretty pricey, but still make you that much better. I'd say probably go with Lo runes, or get some 15 AIS dmg to mana jewels.. either way, I'd say this build does well enough.
