After losing his sister to suicide, Chris mourns and loses his sense of hope. As he continues to battle his mental illness, Chris is offered a psychological opportunity by an astrophysicist who specializes in a particular transcending scientific experience. Holy crap that was powerful. Fantastic script. Excellent acting. Awesome camerawork. Sensitive and in my experience realistic treatment of a traumatic experience. Very well done. I've been on both sides of that equation. To Chris: Regardless of what happens, you were there for your sister. She knew you loved her. Sometimes, that's all we can do. To Zoe: You do matter. Your brother loves you. Only you can help yourself, but you don't need to do it alone. Help is available. Seek it until you get the help you need. Second chances are worth it, and so are you. Life is beautiful. Give yourself the chance to live it.

Death from natural cause due to old age is expected but still hard to cope with. When it's someone young who should have a long life is even harder. When death comes from suicide, it's almost impossible to cope with. A close friend of mine, a best friend from high school, took his own life at 29 years of age. For at least a year the questions were stuck in my mind. What could I have done or said that would have kept him alive? What did I miss? Gradually, I came to accept that I would never get the answers. And that there likely wasn't anything I could have done or said. I knew from talks we'd had about his childhood and the pain he lived with. The part I missed was how deep and bad the pain was. I eventually forgave myself for missing that. He was a jolly soul and laughed easily. He did a very good job hiding his pain. Were there signs? I've searched my mind for the signs, small things that would have shown me how bad his pain was. 43 years later, I see there were signs, but the questions remain, what could I have done or said? Very good work on this film. I feel that the writer of the story had a similar experience as I did with my friend. Or at least has a deep insight to humanity and the mental issues we have. Great job.
As someone has lived with depression since at least my teens (45+ yrs), I can tell you that often we hide our pain behind jokes. When I've spoken with friends and family about the depression, the first things out of their mouths is usually that I always have a smile, always seem happy, and I'm always joking. It's partly a coping mechanism that if we can get others to laugh and be happy, it'll rub off on us for a short while. It's also a defense mechanism, especially for people my age and older who were taught things like "men don't cry."
Even though you now recognize the small signs, it's likely that you weren't equipped to recognize the significance of them at the time and wouldn't have known what to do to help.
Even though I've gone through therapy and taken antidepressants at times, I think that the therapists and I never really got to the underlying cause, even though my parents and I knew recognized that my sister has mental health issues, I didn't connect it to my depression. Her daughter, who has a masters in psychology, told me 2 yrs ago that it's narcissism. I started researching that and in the process read that a person who has a long term relationship of any kind with a narcissist can develop depression, anxiety, PTSD, and/or self-doubt. Nearly 3 yrs ago I saw a psychiatrist for the first time here in Ecuador. My primary care doctors in the US had been prescribing the antidepressants previously. Here my main doctor referred me to the psychiatrist. He had me give a summary of what events I thought might have caused or contributed to the depression. I don't think I went back to events, including a violent one, with my sister in my teens. I did state some about our relationship. When I finished the summary, he said that he thinks that I actually might have PTSD. That was the first time I'd ever heard that. After learning more about it and about the effects of narcissism on those around them, it all started making sense.
You're right, many who smile and joke about things are often suffering from depression and it being a means of of coping. All too often men do cry but only on the inside. Women do also, just less so than men. The idea than men aren't supposed to cry or show the softer side comes from a time in the past when men had to be the strong tough hunters and warriors. The bread winners and protectors. I'm not sure, but we may have been better off then in some ways because of that mentality. Not so much in other ways. I wish you the best of luck dealing with depression. I need that luck as well. I think a lot more people do than we could imagine.@@marckaufman2556

Wow! It took a few minutes for this to fully soak in. I've been trying to absorb quantum physics lately, string theory, parallel universes, 11 dimensions, bubble theory. Before the big bang. DUST short films are so amazing. It's hard to believe what they can accomplish on small independent budgets. Hollywood needs to take notice and stop making comic book movies and start putting some heart and soul into their productions. Well done, cast and crew of The Morning Breeze.

No tragedy haunts its survivors more than an avoidable tragedy. I once turned away from suicide and later helped another turn away, too. Good treatment of the topic.

Very intense and heart-touching.
Gotta say, very well shot, very interesting idea, because I love when physics and a character's personal life gets involved in a plot. However...some things came to mind:
How does the physicist know about his trauma? details about how he was, him wondering what went through his sister's mind, beating himself up about what he could have done, having his sister in his head, that seems like very personal info, how would he know that? his shrink told him? Wouldn't that breach confidentiality agreements?
I don't get how a guy with lucid dreaming, something that is mental and abstract, the ability to dream about his dead sister can help a physicist prove the existence of something physical, a multiverse. I don't get it, and it isn't payed off that they did or didn't prove it, where did the physicist and his goal go to in the end?
It was well shot, acting wasn't too bad for the most part, liked the cinematography too, just the story needed refining.
I really don't see what the main character is supposed to get out of this, he doesn't feel that motivated, pro active in doing all this. Why didn't he stop her as she sits with the bottle of pills? why did he wait for her to get up, leave for the balcony door and then go after her? Wouldn't all this go against his trauma, living a sort of "dream" where he essentially pretends that he saved her. How does this help him move on? It doesn't help his reality. He says he is living moments from his past, like, that's not helping his mental state at all, and his therapist recommended this, by extension?
He goes to an alternate universe, but how would he stay there to make this worthwhile for him? how would this goal solve his issue? his body is back on Earth, sedated, how would that work long term? Eventually the sedation wears off and he comes back to the reality his sister is dead. This would not help his loss at all. It's not the best move on his part to deal with his trauma, and I blame his therapist, she got him into this, she should have known better.
A balcony locking from the outside seems very dangerous too, seems forced, for the story. You could have had this alternate reality mess with his ability to get near her, as in, the physics are different and he isn't used to that or something more believable, like in that dream we all have where you struggle to run.
Then he knocks on her door in the next scene after we see him wake up, is this now a flashback? or did he go back under? I thought it was a flashback, but then we cut to him being questioned by the physicist in the next scene, sorry, but, it's confusing as to what is really going on.
He is told by his alternate self from the alternate reality that he can save her in his world, but, he's dreaming, so, what does that mean in the context of this story. Can she literally be saved and brought back to life? How? This whole thing seems very unproductive for the main character, "saving" his sister from suicide, this won't help his closure, this whole goal does nothing good for the character.
His alternate self says: "In your morning to come, she takes her own life..." isn't it his morning to come? We're in his world, We're in his universe, right? He says, "but you can still save her in your world" so, he went back in time? she's alive now? What ? I'm confused. He wakes up at the end, so how is it his world???

The main actor's performance was pretty stale. But, nice short.
This isn't science fiction, it's a soap opera with some kind of gimmick I lost interest in finding out about because of all the boring "human interest" waffle.
This movie seems to strike a cord with seekers! Evelotion= no puropse! Creater= purpose and worth! Seek God as revealed in Jesus Christ!
God created all things. This is total fantasy, as problems such as suicide can be healed completely by Jesus Christ. Demons are real and need to be dealt with in the spiritual realm. Deliverance can free this affliction from the mind/soul. Believe.
