I have been searching high and low trying to find an accurate way to sharpen my end mills myself, I seen this style in a book but forgot the name of the book. I guarantee I’ll be building and trying this fixture. Thank you for putting this up Neil. I’ll be watching all 3 vids. I’m also on a shoestring budget

If the hole in the block was lower down you wouldn’t need an “anti rotation pin” - just cut a flat on the bottom of the plunger with a couple of thou clearance of the base plate.
Hi Neil. I can send you a drawing on how to reverse your grinder direction. I had to work it out when I got a single direction motor for my garden shredder. Nice work on the grinding jig. I made the Harold hall grinding rest many years ago. I've never really used it, I keep meaning to, but I've never really settled on a good place for the grinder, so it's never been set up properly. I have a similar drill grinding jig on my to do list.
Good work. Why not just put it on the left hand side, but with either the cutter block on the outside (exactly a mirror image of the way you had it on the other side) or put the stop block on the outside but with the half of the cutter you are not sharpening on the outside too? PS, to reverse a single phase induction motor, just swap the starting coil's polarity with respect to the main coil. PS, not a good idea to reverse grinders as the nuts will come off causing injury. Also, do you have an electronic copy of the drawings? Or does Mr Factotum?
Came here to add the same comment on the dangers of reversing the direction of grinders. Was a different cause, but I did see a very large wheel break up into several pieces, one of the larger chunks went straight up and punched a fist sized hole through the workshop roof, others flew off in all directions and clattered of walls and machine tools, they somehow missed everyone in the area (including me). That was back in 1966 when I was an apprentice. Memories of hose days are becoming a little cloudy, but that one remains crystal clear. Don't misuse grindstones! As a side note: The chunk that went through the roof was never found, and the chap who caused the wheel to shatter lost his job.

Why have you not considered installing the wheel on the other side of the bench grinder ? It would have turned the opposite. Anyway, thanks for sharing.

For example I have an internal bore diameter grinder that I made out of a 4" angle grinder with a crook gear head that I use on my lathe, the motor was/is fine. I needed to remove the bell mouth in the 3 jaw chuck and the spindle speed on the motor was perfect. End product works great an my chuck now holds stock to 1 Tenth of a thou of center. Just one of many things made from PRE LOVED Material/things. John.

With this block you can sharpen drills, they will be like factory sharpening!

That grinder is very useful Olly. No worries about the motor reversing, it was an excuse to myself to buy a new diamond wheel 😁😁😁
