After taking notes on modal verbs, I will be able to use them correctly by now. However, whenever I hesitate about their uses, I must go back to my notes and write down a couple of sentences just to make sure that I remember and will not forget.

You might not be the most popular youtuber but I can tell you that you are one of the bests . However we mustn't skip any of your videos . So W'd you like to share with us more tips to sound like a native speaker ? . I hope that was correct #Algerian
Anitta Sd
well just a small correction , you can't say " w'd " it is " would " i suggest you go back to the video and try to know the reason !
but i know what you meant anyway and i am quite sure everone who read your comment could get it 😄
and also .. not one of the bests but
" one of the best "
Oh Thanks Loulou lo lo .Yes that was wrong , and for W'd it is considered more as an informal spoken abreviation as Lucy mentionned at 02:04 .
Maybe it's better to say: We'd like you to share more tips with us.
The abbreviation for "we would" is "we'd"
Yeah yeah absolutely , i was just not approving on the "w" all alone , i know it is considered somehow correct to use " we'd " .. but the girl used it this way
" w'd you like to share "
And it is totally wrong , it should have been
:" we'd like you to share "
Or maybe
" would you like to share ... "
It is just incorrect to use
" w'd you like to share ? "
Would should be written properly .. 😄
Cheers
Im so glad i found you, you explain things very well. Thank you🥀
1. You may eat anything you want except for the eggs.
2. You must follow the school rules.
3. I might not be able to attend the practice tomorrow.
4. I will be taking multiple lessons throughout the day.
5. I would like to have a new school bag as my birthday present.
6. I can speak three different languages.
7. She told me that she could edit the video for our performance.
8. I should be sleeping right now.
9. We shall listen to our parents' advice all the time.
She is best teacher
Thank you for teaching me how to use " shall", this is the very word Japanese school teachers do not teach at all! I shall review a lot !
Maybe because it's seen as very formal nowadays and is therefore seldomly used (especially in American English you probably won't hear that at all). By the way: Shall can be also used as future tense (replacing will) for the first person singular and plural (I and we). Greetings!
I will learn many with Lucy.
Her hair and her english and her face and her accent and her.... I can't stop 😊😊
Thank you for your help and support.
finalmente um canal que coloca legendas, já estou apaixonada 😍😙👍👏👌
well, I am not a native speaker, and your way of teaching is helpful to formal&informal thankyou
Hi Lucy, could you make a video about how to use 'possibly' and 'probably' properly? Thank you so much.
Possibly and probably mean almost the same thing. However, the difference is that:
Possibly: 40-60% chance of something happening.
Probably: Above 60% chance of something happening.
You can also say "probably not" which means that there is a less than 40% chance of something happening.
Well, basically, they work like adverbs of frequency (always, usually, often, sometimes, etc.) and we can use them almost interchangeably depending on circumstances. For instance:
1. This last exam is possibly/probably the most difficult.
2. He couldn't possibly/probably have heard what he said.
3. A: Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
B: Possibly/Probably.
I am not a native speaker. If possible, could you explain it in detail? It is still confusing me a little. Thank you so much.
Possibly could be a lot less than a 40% chance.
Possible regards the existence of something. Question, "Is it possible for man to travel to Mars?"
Probable regards the chances of something happening. "Though it is now not possible for man to travel to Mars, someday man will probably make the journey."
drkjk Not always. Someone could say that it's possible that they'll get laid at a party (if they think it's unlikely).
you are one of the best teacher
i love english grammar and i am from Iraq i have a bachelor degree in English language and literature but now i am a refugee in Germany and i havent got an opportunity to continue studying and i am very bored
A bachelor's degree is a 4-year university degree. Seema, you might try asking at a foreign consulate or two (US and UK most likely) - surely someone with that language set could be useful as an editor for multi-lingual publications or for translations or the like.
I wish you good luck. Try to keep studying. I know you will achieve success.
Francisco Phb thank you so much thats so nice of you.. yes i will keep trying😊
sststr its been one year i am in Germany and i still have not got the right here to study because they havent given me german passport so its matter of me being accepted here or not and thats why i cant start studying easily

Hey Lucy, I love your videos and the way you explain. But, I wanna ask something.
As a native speaker, what will you do when you talk with a person whose english isn't fluent?
Will you correct their grammar? or you just let them talk with their bad english because you know what they mean?
Thanks
Dody Mahulette I'm not lucy but if they don't care if you correct them, what's the problem? Hahaha. If I'm having a conversation with a english speaker, i would like them to correct me. I think it depends on everyone and their personality.
Thank you for the lesson. It was useful for myself. I shall promise to use these rules for using modal verbs

in one of my grammar book I saw these ones "need, dare and ought to" so when can we use them?! but in that book "need and dare" were called "semi-modals" would you explain it your next video!?
Need for speed. For me,need is similar to "must" when you want something and cannot lbe without it. Context: I'm thirsty. Example: I need water.
Truth or dare

Hi Lucy your lectures help me alot thank you alot
Hi! Thank you for your lesson. Could you explain something about "ought to"? Why did you skip it?
“Ought to” has-to which most modal verbs don’t, so you can say that it is a semi modal word.Ought to and should can be replaced for each other (also depends on the the sentence )
Mansa Kaur , as a matter of fact i would like to know this difference ("also depends on the the sentence"). If they are absolutely replacable, what difference between them? I read somewhere that we can use "Ought to" in more formal conversation. Have you heard something about it?
I enjoyed watching the lesson, thanks so much.
