Many of you asked me to explain modal verbs... HERE IT IS! Let me know what you think! 🤩
I think you missed another one - have to )
"Have to" is a semi-modal or semi-auxiliary verb phrase that requires the auxiliary verb "have" followed by the infinitive "to." It behaves more like a normal verb phrase than a modal verb:"I have to study for my exams."Although "have to" expresses necessity or obligation similar to modal verbs like "must" or "should," it does not have all the grammatical properties of modal verbs, such as the ability to form questions and negatives without the use of auxiliary verbs. Therefore, while "have to" serves a similar function, it is not classified as a modal verb in traditional English grammar.

Very helpful video thank you so much ☺️ I have a question in the part that shows examples using “Would “80% (13:55) “Would you mind if I took a picture” it has to be “Took” In past? I was thinking of “Take ” 😮 “ in present” 🤔 I’m confused. Thank you!
Hello! The difference between "Would you mind if I took a picture?" and "Would you mind if I take a picture?" lies in the verb tense and the nuance it brings to the sentence.
1. **Would you mind if I took a picture?**
- This uses the past tense "took" and is more traditionally correct in terms of English grammar. It implies a hypothetical situation and is often seen as slightly more polite and formal. This construction is typical in polite requests because it softens the ask by using a past subjunctive form.
2. **Would you mind if I take a picture?**
- This uses the present tense "take" and is a more modern, informal way of phrasing the same question. While it might not be traditionally grammatical, it is commonly used in everyday speech. This version can come across as more direct and less formal.
Both forms are generally understood and accepted, though the first one is often preferred in more formal or traditional contexts.

MAY MIGHT는 한국인들이 혼동하는 영어 단어입니다. 비교차이를 잘 모르겠습니다. 영어권에서 태어난 사람들이 부러워요
Indeed. It's often hard to see the difference. In those cases, don't worry about it because English speakers don't know the difference either. Speaking fast and without fear should be your main goal.

Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
I think 'should' has yet another, very strange use case, when it works similarly to word 'if', like "should you need further explanation, call Josh". I've seen this weird construction quite few times when I was working for a British company.
Excellent! This construction implies a polite or less direct way of giving instructions or advice. Instead of saying "If you need further assistance," which is more straightforward, using "should" makes the statement more formal and courteous.

Hello my friend! Thank you so much for the support! It's been a long time but I haven't forgotten you.😀 How's life treating you? Are you still traveling? Malta, wasn't it?
Hello teacher!
That's right, I was in Malta trying to take my English to the next level, little by little I'll get there! ; )
Life is treating me weel as I live close to Nature, in a collective farm in the south of France. But French government is pushing us back to the 'rat race' and if the far right wins tomorrow I think the return process will accelerate... :))
It's our duty to support everyone who spread knowledge and try to make this world a little bit better. ; )
@riclou1910 sounds like you're enjoying your life! That's awesome! I really hope you won't be forced to return to work any time soon. Best of luck with all of your projects. 🤩
