- This is one of the many variations of the classic fly pattern called the Edson Tiger. This particular variation is counterintuitively the dark Edson Tiger. While it has a light body compared to the light Edson Tiger, it's the wing that gives it the distinction, featuring a natural bucktail instead of the light yellow wing found on the light variant. In the end, there are now hundreds of variations of the pattern. This is one I like to use as a wet fly swinging through the current with my trout spey. No matter how you tie it, this is a classic pattern that will always be in my fly box and is worth a tie and a try. Let me know how it goes for you!

I've decided this is what I'm tying this weekend. I have all those materials in a variety of colors with different sized hooks. Thanks for the video.
Have fun at the vice!
@@MainelyFlies Thanks
Very simple fly, thanks. Tight lines🐛🕷️🐜!!!!!
Thank you for putting the materials in the comments! I appreciate the video! Tight lines my friend! 😎🎣
No problem, not my favorite part of making the videos but I’ve been making a point to be more consistent with adding them
Cool classic tie.
You forgot the brass eyes... I picked up some thin brass colored metal sheets and a raindrop shaped hole punch from a craft shop and that's what I use for the brass eyes on the various Edson patterns.
I did should have at least mentioned it. I’ve never actually tied them with the brass eyes. Never had any on hand. I’ll have to try your method next time
Is this an imitation fly? Or is it more of an attractor. Am I using those terms right?
You are, this one would very much and attractor with its bright colors and general shape. Could be a bait fish, could be an emerger in smaller sizes, or it could just trigger a snap reaction with its bright colors.
What hook & Size are you using
#flies 😎👍🎣
i hope eventually you can also show these bad boys in a tank or something? so we can see how they perform in the water.
That being said I suffer from insomnia and I don't fish, let alone fly fish, and your videos help me sleep :) I also am a visual artist and I love seeing all of these amazing creations. They are basically very tiny sculptures. So neat!
Maybe I should do that. This one will look vary similar, those wings are stiff and the profile holds its shape. But would could be a cool addition for the channel. I'll keep it in mind. Also happy they videos help you relax and get some sleep!

#flies at first i thougt It was going to be mor red than yellow
This is the classic way but a red body works quite well for my waters in the fall too
What do you expect?
Nice tie and vid as usual but, nah. Pass...
Fair enough! These definitely are not for everyone now adays
@@MainelyFlies As someone who cut their teeth on wet flys fishing rivers growing up, these old classics are still reliable fish catchers to this day, still a testament of time of success.
Its Much appreciated the time you take for each upload you do so keep up the good work & all the best from 🇬🇧👊
