Greatest writer I know. I have experienced war and only he has helped me understand it properly, which has had a great healing effect on me. The only real author I have read who has helped me overcome my self-delusions about war.

I love Chris Hedges. His testimonies are repleat with wisdom. His critiques of our ruling elites/the dislocations within complex societies, the War economy, the warping and hostage of democratic institutions by powerful greedy elites. Few have his understanding of the human condition. It is presicely because he holds up that mirror which challenges the image we have of ourselves that is so important if we are to engage in making the world a better place...To shatter the illusions we tell ourselves about in persuit of power, it's consequences be it in war, in building better social constructs, in challenging those whole exploit us for their own greed. His work is inspiring, full of integrity and for me a repository of the good struggle. What a great interview and what a great man of letters.

My Dad was in one of those gliders in WW2. He never spoke about either, he said very little about his time as a soldier. He was awarded for his involvement and we didn’t know that until a long time after he died. Those men must have been so traumatised and then they had to go back to the responsibilities of family and work etc., repressing all of their experiences. The war took its toll on these young men, there is no doubt of that. There was no time to grieve the losses around them and no understanding of the psychological affect this had on them and their families too.

Terrible that RUclips censored you. I do not always agree with every thing you say. But I still want you to say whatever you wish and write whatever you write. Democracy always. Free speech promotes it. Censorship defeats it.

I'm not sure if Hedges considers himself a Socialist or not, but he speaks the language of the Left fluently and I consider him 'one of us'. He's one of the best pundits out there.

Procreation is the most basic and thus the greatest evil. Without procreation, there would be no war, no famine, no drudgery, no anxiety, nor any of that malady of quotidien which Hedges write about so well in his first book, and which is so grim that the horrors of war can seem appealing by comparison.

Russia's invasion of Ukraine has the same legal status as NATO's and USA's invasion of Yugoslavia as providing protection for people under attack But Russia also has another legal claim for the invasion and that is the defense against Ukraine's NATO threat after Zelensky went to NATO and asked for nuclear weapons

Question to any Hedges reader: If I was going to read one Hedges book, which would you recommend? (Please do not consider Days of Destruction Days of Revolt as an answer, I plan to pick that up already. I like comics.) Thanks in advance!

OldManBob, "Losing Moses on the Freeway" is a good one. It's about his college days and his time living in the ghetto as a minister in training.
Chris Hedges is a gifted writer.
