I was in Israel in1968 after the six day war, and witnessed the clearing of a Bedoin market in Beersheba. Mainly with young soldiers not much older than me. Their callous, cruel behavior drove a stake in my heart. It was like footage I had seen of the clearing of the ghettoes. When I returned home in London, I argued with my mother. (a Rumanian holocaust survivor) and ended up leaving home on my 18th birthday, early in the morning. Israel separated us forever, to my eternal regret. But the lesson here from my own experience was that we pass on our traumas to the next generation, and that is why the strife continues. Lets face it, Israelis have taken the mantle of revengeful oppression with gusto, and modern efficiency...
It's not pleasant or easy to create a state. There's no peaceful way of doing it. So if you agree that the Jews should have a country of their own in Palestine, there's no way round the fact that some people are going to suffer because of that. By the way, Bedouin have also been extremely cruel to other peoples, including Sudanese African refugees that they've caught in the desert.

I am so glad I attended Roger Waters's concert in Atlanta, GA earlier this year. So intense and thought-provoking. Great discussion with Chris Hedges. Two of my favorite progressive voices: Chris Hedges and Roger Waters. What you see is what you get, no matter how inconvenient.
I got welled up with emotions hearing Roger express his emotions, he and pink floyd have influenced multiple generations with their gift of music, I think I was 7 the 1st time I heard pink floyd, 1976, and ever since. God Bless You Roger Waters
Roger has come under some heavy criticism in the last few years. He has taken a strong stand for the subjugated people of Palestine and has subsequently been condemned by mainstream media. The sad part about this is "The Wall" being taken out of context and used against him. It hit me emotionally when he spoke of his father and how he died at Anzio, making the ultimate sacrifice for freedom. To this day the song "When The Tigers Broke Free" brings on that feeling of sacrifice and loss. It is beyond irony Roger was made an honourary citizen of Anzio a few years ago. I got to hear Roger speak in Vancouver a few years ago at a local church, admission was by donation; now only if we can do something about those ridiculously priced concert tickets ! Thank you Roger for staying true all these years.
Great work, Chris and RNN. Aside from being a one-man political force, Roger is a fine artist and poet and a true gentleman, as we saw, for example in his keenness to point out that Rick Wright composed the music to "Us and Them."
Pink Floyd had a deep impact on me during my teens and triggered the critical and questioning of the entire system and authorities, Roger should be called; Lord Waters.
Mr Waters knowledge, thinking, understanding, empathy , political views are totally amazing. I can not wait to see this boss man next year. It's gunna be such a long time. 😩
Same with me. Our government are puppets of an agenda cooked up by criminals in USA. They don't care about the British people. That is the last thing on their mind.

Been to hundreds of concerts going back to the Beatles, Hendrix, Who, LedZep .... "This Is Not a Drill" was hands down the most eye popping and meaningful! Great Interview!
I was in the Vancouver concert on September 15, traveled from Vancouver Island to attend, it was epic and emotional. I recorded the entire concert and uploaded it to this channel of mine, 3 days after that, and after more than 2 thousand views, RUclips deleted my first video (part one before intermission) and gave me a first strike threatening me with canceling my channel for good if repeated action had to be taken by them. Capitol records demanded my video to be deleted and RUclips honored the stupid demand. I'm trying to connect with Roger and request his written permission to upload it again. I'm very sad about this situation, but I'm not going to give up.
@@johnsanders561 I've no need, but I'll illustrate you anyway: my audience is purely Latinamerican, most of them have no idea who Roger Waters is, even the less have knowledge of his message and great music and shows. Peace needs to be pursued, and there MUST be a long term strategy for peace globally. Peace is hardly ever mentioned in MSM nor establishment politics, but war and billions "needed" in arms in Ukraine is constantly sold as the only answer
True, and we know why. But what brings me to the brink of going crazy that people do distinguish between imperialism and imperialism, between this and that war. I can walk and chew a gum at the same time, as a socialist with principles I don't throw overboard when it gets complicated. Human race is all but peacefully and I'm not a dreamer anymore. I lost my confidence in people. People who want, voluntarily or involuntarily, part of a faction, because it's feeling good, rather than thinking for themselves and go the painful way of becoming knowledgeable in a desert full of distraction, propaganda and misinformation. Healthy critical thinking, being a skeptic while not giving in in tribalism, searching for truth by oneself and crawling against all odds, even against once own like minded people is the hard but better way to understand and staying sane. I don't think many of us do and I will die in fear for those left behind. If we want peace on earth we should persui peace in us first (no, I'm not that guy who is some sort of a old hippie or new age deciple) by not becoming selfish and over-rightious, to confident and uncritical of oneself. Is peace possible and can we break the circles of violence and war? I'm rather pessimistic. Not because assholes dominate this world but because of the people to dumb and numb to get out of their comfort zone and fight for what's right.

Incredible. Especially you, Chris, allowing Roger to speak full thoughts [even those that occasionally went off-road], but giving minor input and prompts as needed. And rarely. Great job.

Bedouin in Beersheba, not Bedoin - as that's in Provence region, France. And it's Romanian, not Rumanian.

What an excellent interview, during which I have chosen to venture to South America to see Roger Waters Tour live.
Two people who remind us that our species has not yet gone entirely mad.
That was Rick's masterpiece. Roger added, as usual, phenomenal poetry to it. Gilmour did a good job singing. But that is Rick at his best.
Pink Floyd had a deep impact on me during my teens and triggered the critical and questioning of the entire system and authorities, Roger should be called; Lord Waters.
I love this interview! You both have brought so much light and truth to the world! Don’t ever stop, and thank you! ❤

Peace needs to be pursued, and there
MUST be a long term strategy for peace globally.
Gotta keep the military industrial complex profitable n Rollin along they'll never kill us all just fe thousand here , a million there gotta have subjects surf's , body's to control for their evil purposes but so when they own it all and control all now what game over now what will they do for fun!!??
The reason why is peace isn't always the answer.
