Tariffs sound really good to a factory worker who's job got transferred to Mexico, when the owner is making millions from the move. When it's against a Chinese company making cars more expensive for Americans, it feels similar to those workers, even when it hurts them.

Cops should not have a union though because they are generally well paid and they are protected by immunity. Our military officers are not protected by unions, so shouldn't police officers. Medical doctors can choose private practice and not joining any hospitals. It doesn’t really benefit though because ultimately you’re taxing every possible consumer of electric vehicles because the cost of the taxes have to be subsidized by someone in this case the working class. In turn this increases the prices of every other commodity for the same individual. Taxes disincentivize investment which allows that money to be spent elsewhere causing inflation.

@@ElimiXebian Math is simply a means of description...an attempt to describe what
is being observed...quantitatively. A measurement of an "action" or an "event" that yields
a consistent result...allows one to predict the result of future events of a similar nature with
a greater degree of certainty. Also known as "empiricism" which is distinct from other forms
of what has been labeled as philosophical speculation or reasoning.
The greater the number of variables involved, the more complex and unpredictable a system
will be, and as much as one would desire that this were not so, that desire is not relevant in
the calculations that must be considered. Therefore, the statement that one has simplified
a complex system or subject would be false, since that would require the elimination of
the number of variables involved...replacing them with "constants" that did not vary, which
would require "evidence" that this was true, or one would ignore those variables that are
inconvenient to one's desired result, which is NOT a simplification of actual complexity,
      but a simplistic one.

Does science advance one death at a time, as Max Planck famously quipped? Studies have already confirmed that when a ‘star scientist’ passes away, their collaborators produce work at a slower rate. Now, Pierre Azoulay and collaborators have comprehensively analysed the response of scientists who did not collaborate with the star researcher before their death.
In contrast to the collaborators’ dip in productivity, the non-collaborators showed a marked increase in publications in the subfield previously dominated by the star. The strongest increase is from new entrants to the subfield.
It seems that younger scientists are put off working in a subfield when it is dominated by a ‘big beast’, even though they clearly have substantial contributions to make. While this ‘gatekeeping’ effect of eminent scientists may have some positive effects, it is an interesting question to think about whether the obvious down sides can be mitigated.

Just a couple of left loons. Where can I find honest views?

People can be "honestly ignorant" and and they have every reason to justify
maintaining that condition. They do not question their "preacher" nor will they allow
any questions to be asked, nor will they answer them...facts are irrelevant.
You are a "troll" and unwanted...and this platform protects each "echo chamber" by
preventing any actual discussion from continuing...while most comments are #Me2
nonsense...and this will be true, regardless of the particular "viewpoint" of the site
      in question.
When you can't even get them to define the words they use...that you will ever find
what you seek is highly improbable.
