Yay thanks for the review. I got this but bounced off the manual at the first attempt (the layout seems a bit random :D) but you've really helped give me a basic understanding. Now to crack it open again and get stuck in!
Yeah! Good work on that review. I've played a few times as Japanese and I agree with Kanger that the Japanese have a good chance to win. They are probably a lot more sensitive to mistakes but it is surprising what you can accomplish with those few but hard Japanese battalions with careful play. I did think "Hell! No chance that I'll be able to hold off those chinese hoards when they are unleashed. And the British in Imphal looks ridiculously strong with an added advantage of inner lines of communication. And how could I possibly stop the Chindits from breaking my lines of communication all the time?" But the Chinese can be slowed down almost to a standstill with careful positioning and the same with the Chindits. And don't expect to take Impahl or even cut it off for any longer time, but just the threat may make the British reluctant to concentrate their forces for a strong offensive.
I have this on the shelf...your review has me eyeing it from across the room. The problem is your next video I watch will have me wanting to get that game to the table! I need to quit my job 😃
Great review. The only thing that I would disagree about is the chances of a Japanese victory. I have had the honour of playing it against a very capable player (a playtester in fact) who learned to master the Japanese and conduct some very sinister moves. Their troop quality gives them an edge in movement across any terrain.
We will have to give it another try soon. I’m too aggressive with all armies I control and I might have needed to be more careful. Thanks for the great game Kim and for doing the interview with me (Grant) nearly 2 years ago.
Just tried this... it's a nice little game. The rules are a bit more complex than you expect, mostly because there's *so many* things in this game which is longer enumerations of cases.... and you have to run them through to check many times in the beginning. I'd almost say the rules to OCS are only slightly more complex because they have more generality in each rule. I'm a little in doubt whether the replayability value is that high... it seems there are clear optimal strategies to be found.
Thanks guys ! I always check you first before I purchase any new war game. Your reviews are just superb !!!

Love this energy.
I have GDW Burma (1976), MMP OCS Burma, ATO #36 Defeat into Victory, but this looks intriguing. Good review, Gentlemen.

Thanks for doing a great review! :-)
(by the way, if you play another session, remember that supply movement points is regarded as if "light troops")

@@ThePlayersAid Not a bad problem to have ;)
Oh look! It's the Twidles, wasting more of everyone's time. It must be nice to have a life devoted to wasting everyone's time.
