Before I get too far into this video, I wanted to say that Grayson always has the most beautiful smile on his face all the time!
Agree, Ive said the same thing before.
He has a million dollar smile!
I have to agree with the others. Grayson's smile knocks a person over.
Always watching out for that bright smile 🎉❤
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Ok lovelies, time to hire some pros. Pregnancy brain is contiguous!!!!
30 years working as a nanny/housekeeper, I can't count how many times I wanted an outlet on the stairs when I was vacuuming!
That is exactly what I thought!!! A vacuum cleaner out let is perfect on those stairs!! ❤
I thought a plug in night light for the steps might be useful there...
My house has an outlet on the stairs landing. Makes vacuuming so much easier ❤
Outlets for vacuuming need to be placed next to light switches. I know it sounds strange, but a former boss did that in his house and it worked out great.
Who uses vacuums with cords? Get a cordless atick vacuum.
I love Brandon’s sense of humor! “Allie, are you pregnant?” LOL
She is most definitely pregnant , in her second trimester !! Doesn't she look fantastic !!
When I was 5, my father was restoring a model t. I was sent to help because my mom was pregnant with her third child and my sister was probably too young or napping. I had watched him sand and paint the frame many times. He finally out the final coat on the frame. I decided to help him out. I picked up the sanding block, dipped it into the water and got to work. My dad later told me it was all he could do to keep his cool. He never sold that car. My brother still has it. It also won and international award from the model T club of America for the best restoration. We also took it to Dearborn when the millionth car came off Mr Ford’s famous assembly line. We drove it from outside of Chicago. I spent a lot of time in the backseat of that car going 45 mph. I also learned how to drive in that car.
That's a great story!
What a great story. Also so great the car is still in your family.
That is a great story and good memories ❤.
🥰
Love the Dearborn Cruise!!!
Tip from a retired house flipper: get a sheet of the thickest foam board insulation you can find. Cut it to fit. Use heavy-duty ZIP tape as a continuous piano style hinge for the opening. The cheapest and most energy efficient temporary door you can install. Remember to put tape loop pulls on both sides to serve as door handles. I would build in a shallow bookcase over the odd bump-out you framed. Then the bump out disappears behind the bookcase. It's about the right proportions to make a good book case, too. You're making great progress! I look forward to seeing the whole process.
The shallow bookcase is a good idea.
@@paulas_lens Thanks! :-)
Agree! First thought was a bookcase!
@@claireburkus8497 Thanks!
Regarding the bookcase, that's EXACTLY what was I was thinking. Use that lemon and make lemonade. (Plus, it will give the cat more places to nap.) ;-)
Leo is an itty, bitty Trent/Allie combo! The best of the best! 😂❤
Allie, please stop giggling so much.
@@russelltruman7606wtf?!?
I completely agree with you !! He's just absolutely adorable
Leo has Trent's cute nose and Allie's pretty eyes
@@russelltruman7606
I think her fake laughing is an automatic response for her.. and that she doesn't even realize that she's doing it
Always “have run”. Never “have ran”. 😊 You can say, “We ran” or “We have run”. Run always has a helping word - has, had, or have.
Runners always need help! Sorry, I couldn't resist!
"Helping word"... omg I haven't heard that phrase in a million years.
Man, what a blessing Jennifer is!!!❤
You guys make my Monday and Friday mornings the best mornings 😊❤
I never miss a second, or fast forward through any of it. That’s how much I love this channel.❤️
I concur with no carpet. When I was involved in building casinos in Las Vegas I learned about all the chemicals used to make carpets.
Hey, Trent, I really appreciated the episode recently where you closed out without Allie, and added, "Adios!" on her behalf. Really sweet.
The change in Leo is amazing, he has always been a dearest little boy, wow he is chatting so much now. He will be wanting the real things with his carpentery tools soon!
Re your momentary door gap, just tack up an old blanket, should do the trick!! 🤣
I would take that bump out wall all the way to the ceiling. It would blend in better. Really enjoy all your videos.
I totally agree, making it transition normally!
Yes for sure
You have room to make the opening wider and all the way to the ceiling. Will make it not feel like a door. More of a seamless transition into the kitchen. Leo is getting so big and so smart.
I may have misunderstood Trent’s comment….but putting a door where the window was will close off rather than creating a seamless more open floor plan. Being in the kitchen will be totally isolated from the rest of the house.
That's what I was thinking too, just, open it completely from wall to wall closet to basement stairwell, then it won't be off center, it will just be no wall at all
I think that's what I would do, just would need to do some header work enlarging it for the opening. Which would be easy because the other side's not finished.
I thought the same but maybe they want to be able to close it off sometimes because of noise, heat or cooking smells?
@@laurenj8888 I guess you could do the best of both worlds and put a pocket door in there. It's an excellent spot for it. And we know they love pocket doors, :-)
That's funny! I wanted to comment on Grayson too. Friday the camera caught him in the background and he ducked out as soon as he noticed. This week he's talking and sharing in on the chipmunk joke about "Simon". Congratulations to Grayson on getting more used to that camera time. You are noticed.
It's so amazing how well Leo is speaking! He is going to have so much fun with the baby!!!
I recommend having heated floors in more places than just the bathroom, it's not that expensive. Some houses in Norway have them everywhere. If you lay them yourself and have an electrician connect everything its cheaper. And I think its cheaper to heat as well :)
Trents the electrician the plumber the builder the everything
You need to hurry with the insulation and sheet rock. 😂. I would freeze
I absolutely agree , especially in the main level , where they cut the doorway from the kitchen !!
That honestly sounds like a really great idea! Everybody would always have warm feet. Imagine how much the dogs would love it as well.
Yes, like in the bedrooms, at least, for the kids. Not so much needed in the living room, but hey, why not, eh?!
On the new door opening. I recommend that you open it wider (to 36”). It will visually make it look better balanced. 😊
and s'thing not wanted to think about but my folks had narrowed door frames & the use of a wheelchair was impassable. They built their house way b4 considering the need ever a possibility.
I also don't think the new doorway needs a door, it should just be an entry way into the addition.
I would open it totally up. Meaning that whole small wall, so it's a hallway and not a doorway.
Trent, if this was my project, I would go the extra mile and widen the doorway where the window was and make it the same width as the hallway . It would be more pleasing aesthetically as well as more functional. Yeakh I realize it would need some header work, but again, well worth the effort.
Once the addition is done, I think you can turn the current living room into a nice big dining room! :)
Leo is adorable!!
I believe Allie said they would be turning it into a nice dinning room since they don’t have one.
@@lindahansen9395 Perfect! Must have missed that.
It would be perfect!
That was their original plan. They were just going to build a living room and a bedroom and one more thing kept getting thought about over and over
It’s in her plans already…. 😊
Trent and Allie I have to say how very blessed you ard to have someone to help you with Leo. You have know how very blessed you are to have family that cares, even if you pay them. Because so many mothers do not have any help. They have to do it all. You are so fortunate to have such great family and friends who care.
Just put heavy plastic in newly opened doorway until your heating/cooling is complete in new addition. I also agree with another comment about enlarging the opening to make more visually even and higher. Then it will be just like a short hallway to other part of your lovely home! All the best from Missouri.
OMG! I can’t stand the cuteness of Leo & his boots, beanie & 😎! I love to hear him talk & he’s so smart. Loving to see your family grow! 💕
I love how Leo always wants to help. 😊😊😊😊😊😊
When I was little….back in the early 1960’s, Santa brought a little blue and white suitcase style “real record player” (woohoo!). The record player came with a vinyl 45….Alvin and the Chipmunks. I played it over and over again.❤️
What a blessing for you to have Jennifer and Grayson move nearby to help you with your home and family, Leo is growing and learning from your adventures in home building.
Trent, you should let Allie try the bib overall snowpants. I bet those would fit better over her baby bump than either of the "snowsuits." Also, Leo is adorable! I love seeing him and hearing all the things he is saying now. So sweet! ❤
Leo is so cute! He's such a sponge of learning. What a fun age. He totally remembered the seagull call.
You can tell, Trent and Allie that you do such a great job spending time with Leo. It's so nice that you can work together from home as a family unit. Leo's vocabulary is coming along, he's such a happy boy and apparently a "junior carpenter" in the making.😆 Happy days!!!
Harbor freight shipping blankets work really well to keep the cold out through an open doorway.
Alley your videography of nature is out of this world. Absolutely amazing.
What a day and nite transformation of vibes. I have been with you long before Patagonia . The joy and serene happiness you are sharing is truly awesome. I have never seen Trent so relaxed, and pure joy and contentment from Allie. God bless you both and all your loved ones ❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏
U can put an insulated blanket over the hole until u get it finished. Back many many years ago we used to do that to cut off part of thr house to cool or heat.
can always put up a plastic sheet to hold in heat or out cold and dust
If you dont close it off while you are working and sanding when drying walking. It will get all in the whole house and be a big everyday mess to dust. Love, love your You Tube Channel. Such a great family & a little one on the way. So sorry about your Mom Allie. Happen so so fast. She was so beautiful and she will always be remembered and be in your hearts. God bless your sweet family and we will be watching here from Jacksonville Florida. Love ya'll and I hope it warm up there soon. 😊❤💕👪
You ran the wire. You are going to run the wire. Brandon and Grayson are going to run the wire. After they are done they ran the wire. 😂you guys are great..
😂😂 I'm glad I'm not the only one who has trouble with the correct order of a sentence!
That's so simple! Thank you!
Run would be presence tense. Ran would be past tense. I failed this in 8th grade. In college lol I finally got it.
👍 Ran Run etc. You got it right, Trent. Your English teacher would be proud.
It is when he says “have” that he incorrectly makes the verb past tense - saying “I have ran the wire” when it should be “I have run the wire”. Or he could just leave out the “have” and just say “I ran the wire” - quicker and easier to say!
Thank you for the fond memories Alvin,Simon & Theodore came out when I was a kid in 1961 ( 9). I so enjoy watching you guys.
Oh my! How I loved the Chipmunks! For Christmas in '72, I got a box type portable record player and The Chipmunks Christmas album along with the hits of the '50's album! I still have my record player💖 Hope you have a blessed day and week!
@marilynndapp5809 Thanks for posting the year. I didn't know what year it came out, but I was 6 years old in 1961, and listened to and loved them all through my childhood. And even listened to a cassette tape of the chipmunks every Christmas with my kids, who are now in their 40's! 🥰
I loved the Chipmunks! I was 6 in '61. At a recent rummage sale found a set of Chipmunk glasses!
Leo is such a busy, joyful, happy boy. I smile whenever you show him. Reminds me when mine were little. Happy times.
The plug on the stairs is great when you need to vacuum
No mistake. Happy accidents. It is sad to knock out work you already did but it'll make the addition so much more accessible. Love how it's shaping up and can't wait to see Allie put her decorative style to work.❤
IN this case, it shows how well-built it is -- it takes such hard work to demo it!!
You might want to check the engine bays of all your véhicules that stay in your garage for any length of time, those giant mousses and maybe pack-rats might just be doing a job on the wiring and setting up house under hoods.
Playing with fire telling your wife "You can walk right into the kitchen." 😂
😂😂😂
😂
When Allie and Leo were touching fingertips, I had an ET flashback 😂
I all ways look forward to these videos.
I just wanted to say that you both are amazing and you put a smile on my face every Monday and Friday. Thank you 😊
Great content and progress, as always! Yet what jumped out at me was Leo wearing shades and telling Mom she needed hers🤗 Hugs and love from sunny Arizona💖😎💖
Put up a piece of plastic & BOBS YOUR UNCLE! 🙌🏼 It’s all going to be so worthwhile when you’re finished & the kiddos are filling it with laughter & joy 💕
and occasional screaming and fighting!😉
Always Love Monday Morning when Trent and Allie post❤ Have a great day 😊
Yep. Friday morning too.
Trent's true motivation for cutting the walkway became apparent almost immediately - He wanted access to the cookie closet!
Can’t wait to see the doorway from the original into the addition completed. You are going to enjoy this door,
Leo’s outfit outside with the sunglasses was so freaking adorable. Definitely picture perfect 👍.
I love watching your videos. ❤
I’ve only recently started hanging photos… didn’t want to put holes in the walls that I muddied… sanded… primed and painted!!! I get this!!!
My poor husband has to deal with this.
Have you tried 3M Command strips and hangers??

It is refreshing to see you guys living your lives. Amist the construction mishaps that are common
In house building. You make me feel good as I see little Leo and his adventures around the zone. Thank you for being real.
Leo & frank need a garage show!!! wall cut no mistake! hang an insulated curtain… and make a temporary door… all will be well. time & effort saved by not going around! everything will come together nicely eventually! 🥰😘🥰😘🥰😻
love the way ALLIE LEANS ON HER MAN SHOWS LOVE AND AFFECTION !! I CAN HARDLEY WAIT FOR THE NEXT EPISODE
Absolutely open it, temporarily cover it with 2inch foam board like one of the other people commented. And another suggestion, make the opening from wall to wall, just a little more work on the new side putting a new header in, job done. Smooth transition to the new addition....ha, im a poet and didn't know it !
Trent, y'all aren't tearing your creation up, you are revising and growing it!! It's going to look amazing! Forging ahead. Allie, just don't stand under any construction levels. My husband and I were building a tall privacy fence, basically done with the fence and just leveling the gate, I'm short so 8 month pregnant me was at the bottom, shimming the gate and my tall husband was checking the level w/ a vintage wood and brass construction level (think very heavy) and it fell off of the fence onto the top of my head (no hard hat). I was so close to becoming unconscious, and all I could think about was will the baby be okay?! He was, I was and he was born about a week later. Wear a hardhat...!
Love this channel. At the end of this episode you asked how we feel about you cutting a hole in the wall for a doorway in the middle of winter. No problem, all options are on the table, and all you have to do is put up a plastic cover in the meantime to not let the heat out.
As an old diy home renovator you guys are doing great! One piece of advice I have for all of you is to make sure to wear hearing protection when using and around power tools. My husband's hearing has been very negativity impacted from not using hearing protection during most of our years of building. Wearing hearing aids is expensive and kind of a pain in the " neck".
Hang a plastic sheet in your new doorway to keep the cold out
after a long rough night this is just what the "Dr" Hubby prescribed me lol cup of hot coffee and Trent and Allie video ( well he say the little out of square house) so i will for once listen to him and place myself in the sofa and on with the video
Happy Monday beautiful creatures
💝
Hope you feel better soon🙏
I love how you can adapt as you go and put your mind to getting it done! Allie! You’re looking lovely!
I don’t think opening the window into a door is a mistake-it’s progress. I am wondering though- can you open that doorway any more, even a little bit? It looks like a narrow opening and it’s not symmetrical. 😊
Install a baby gate and hang a blanket over the opening to help keep the cold at bay and Leo and the dogs out.
Trent you are a bit unconventional. You make it work no matter what. You have the two best guys in Brandon and Grayson. What a team including Allie and Jennifer❣️Leo, is such a cutie. Love watching him learn and grow.
Loe amazes me in his speech, and his imagination, he is a very smart boy. Put a blanket or a heavy sleeping bag over the doorway. You guys make Monday and Friday morning our favorite parts of the week.
I'd recommend putting an exterior door in the walkway that you can always just revamp into a walkway later.
For the part where the house extends into the addition, why not just make a closet cabinet there? It can be shelves for games or larger cookware or entertainment supplies, etc. whatever then there's a functional space and no one can even see that there was an intrusion because it'll be the back few inches of the closet. If the other level is in a bedroom, it can be linens, off season pillows, travel gear, whatever in the closet.
Don't put a door in the space. Just needs to be a cased opening. You will not want a door in the way after you start using the new room.
Frank believes in freezing the fleas off his body. Of course, he has no fleas but if he had, he'd know how to deal with them. Run, run, run as fast as you can. You've ran(d) your runs and now you're on your home run. Fun. 😊
Leo looks like a snow gnome in that outfit with the yellow hat. So freakin’ cute! 🤩
You shootouts by one of those door cover insulated blanket/ curtains. Put it a few nails and you’ve got some easily removable insulation on the cheap.
Hey just fyi my hubby placed light switches and plug in in closets game changer for vacuums etc awesome
Trent, "The wiring upstairs is completed" (Finished) Saves all the obvious confusion on 'Run and ran'. Hope this helps, Regards Robin.
‘Complete’ - it’s an adjective not a past participle.
Our English language is often weird ! The word "complete" can be used as an adjective or a verb.
✍Hello Trent, Allie ,Leo and fur babies🐾🐾Brandon,Grayson and Jennifer... Just wanted to wish all of You a wonderful and beautiful start of Holy Week. Wishing you a Blessed and Very Happy Easter🐇🐤🌷🙏God Bless LuvYa! Bye from Ohio🌹
Leo is a smarty! He's so adorable too. He's in his magical years which are the funnest years! Sometimes you have to destroy to rebuild something better. Nice job on cutting the door out, Trent!

BREAKTHROUG TO MAIN HOME....YIPPPPEEEE!!! It's gonna be a bit cold but just put something temporary over the door opening no big deal. Now it is getting real and exciting. GREAT JOB GUY'S! Fantastic JOB Allie filming and God Bless you ALL.
You could put up a temporary "Vynil door in that opening you just made, it kind of slides open, or closed like a curtain. For a really reasonable alternative hang a blanket, or two like curtains.
COVER THAT DOORWAY WITH THICK PLASTIC. Until you install the door. Stay warm you guys. 😊😊😞💕💕💕🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Mismatched framing near a corner? No problem perfect place for a bookcase with some doors below and above the open shelves. Sides can be wide with molding details to cover the mismatched levels.

Hang some plastic over the new open door way to maximize heat lose. Still can use it to walk thru but will save one heating bill. That's what I did during my garage conversion and I had to open up a window to make a door out of it.
