I am new to gel nails, and a friend recommended Ohora. I bought a couple of colors, the top coat, remover, and got the the light free. It seemed easy enough, and the Ohora video was short. The first set I put on peeled off in a couple of days, and I was snagging the edges. Watched another video. No better. Then... I found your video. What a difference! You explain everything so well. I followed your instructions, and my second set lasted almost 10 days. I took your suggestion and bought the Squish Light. Really saw the difference along the cuticle. Thank you so much for this video! This is the best one on gels.
I’ve definitely criticized brands before for making their instructions videos so short. I get it that they are trying to make it look super easy. And it IS easy, but it’s not a 2 minute process either. I’m glad my video helped you ❤️❤️❤️ it’s worth it to do a few extra steps to have a long lasting manicure.
Haha yes, it’s a balancing act - I don’t want the application to be a two hour process, but I don’t mind spending additional 10+ minutes making sure it looks good for two weeks.
Thank you !! Had given up on Ohora due to the snagging etc but still lust after their beautiful designs . As soon as I can get one of the squishy lamps in Australia will given this a go !!
It’s a total game changer!!! I love ohora designs too, and can totally relate to the snagging. For me it didn’t happen super early after application, but a few days in it was typically an issue. Not anymore though!!
Another nail video for me to download! You have made my nail strip game 100X better!!!!! Thank you so much for these! You have helped me be able to do my nails again!!!!
Great video, thanks! Okay so as a resin artist, I can probably explain the science behind the acetone "trick": acetone and isopropyl alcohol dissolve, and/or break down a lot of compounds like resin, which includes these nails if you allow me to use umbrella terms for a bit. By dissolving/thinning out the ohora to adhere better to the nail, it's actually pretty dangerous because the dissolved resin particles get absorbed by the skin. Using isopropyl alcohol to remove spilled resin from skin is a very hotly debated topic in the resin art community for this reason. Some people swear by it, because yes it does seem to work beautifully, but there's an equally valid side that's very against it due to the harmful substances being absorbed by the skin. Hope that helps!
Yes that helps!! Thanks so much! The reason I haven’t done the acetone thing is pure laziness - just seemed like a lot of work. I had no idea about that being potentially harmful. Thanks for letting me know ❤️❤️❤️
I've been doing Ohora since 2020 and never heard of a squish light! My NYE manicure is starting to catch my hair...can't wait to try this new technique and have it last longer. Thank you!
Yes I started using them in 2020 as well and only learned about the squish light shortly before doing this video. I can’t imagine using them without it now!
I hated filing stickers before they were cured, so I now apply the nail sticker, trim it about a mm longer than my nail, and cure each nail for 10 seconds under a single-nail lamp (away from my stickers, of course), before going on to the next nail to harden them a bit. Once they're all on, I cure both hands and then use my regular nail file to file the nice hardened sticker down almost to my actual nails. Once filed, I apply a UV topcoat, taking care to cap underneath the nail just a bit to make sure that any little difference in length between the nail and sticker will be protected from lifting, and cover the rest of each nail, taking care to get topcoat around the whole edge of the nail. If a bit of topcoat gets on my skin, I use the pointed end of my nail pusher tool to remove the excess. Then I cure them again, and I'm done. They last so much longer, and my nails don't wear down as much from typing all day. I love both the squish light and acetone tricks, as I had never heard of them. They're now on my list to test out!
I wouldn’t do the acetone trick after talking with some nail techs. It’s not good for the health of the nail. I’m not going to explain it properly but basically breaking down gel like that right on the nail isn’t good for you.
Thank you so much for sharing your tips and tricks! I am just starting out with press on nails. I ordered several from Dashing Diva, The Editorial Nail, and Ohora. After I ordered kits from Ohora, I read an online article where the reviewer said that she loved her press ons, but after 2-3 days they started to lift from the cuticle and snag her hair. The reviewer raved about the Ohara designs and recommended them only for special occasions, since they don't stay on for very long. I was bummed out after reading that review because I LOVE their designs, however I am SO excited that you shared information about the squish light. I have been watching your videos for the past few weeks and have been making purchases through your affiliate links (FYI, I subscribed to your RUclips channel as well). Back in the day I used to get acrylic nails and while they looked nice, over time, my nails because paper thin. It took years for my nails to recover. Because of that experience, I was reluctant to do dip powder or gel, but I tried both for awhile, and stopped because I just didn't like them. It's amazing how much women are judged by their manis these days. The gel stickers are perfect for me - thanks again!!!
Thanks so much for taking the time to provide feedback! My main complaint with ohora was the cuticle snagging but I’ve had 0 issues since using the squish light. I hope it works for you as well. And thanks for subscribing and using my links - much appreciated.
This was so helpful! I ordered the brand of strips you used with your code too, thank you! I was using Dashing Diva. I can’t wait to try the squish lamp. I also found you quite easy to listen to and your video was helpful!
Wow. Your nails look amazing and like you've had the professionaly done. I'm just getting in to the Gel nails. And I see some videos even the ad ones they look slightly different. But yours look absolutely superb.
Honestly, I think a lot of the ads just try to make it look like it soooo fast and easy but the application looks rushed to me. It’s not hard, but it does take a bit of time and precision. It’s still much faster and easier than painting nails. Thanks for the compliment and enjoy your venture into gel. It’s really fun!
It’s not a well known trick (I tried finding demos and couldn’t find a good one - had to figure it out myself and make one haha). I hope your current set lasts, but the next one will be even better!!
So I got a squish light and used it the last time I did my nails. They’ve been on for a week and a half and I haven’t had a single hair snag or any signs of lifting! Such a game changer! I know these will last a full 2 weeks and I’ll just have to change them because they are grown out and I want to try a different set!
I know I’m late to the party, but thanks for sharing this information. I recently started using semi cured strips to do my nails, and the snagging at the cuticle area is driving me crazy. Looking forward to trying this tip :)

New to this whole process and am totally pleased to have found you for guidance. New Subscriber!! I saved this video as well so I can easily refer back to it. 💯 UPDATE: I'm afraid the squish light trick did not work for me past day 4. I tried it on 2 sets of Dashing Diva Glaze nail strips with the same results. I meticulously prepped my nails before applying the strips and followed these steps to the letter. Maybe it works better with the Ohora brand, but the hair snagging is driving me insane. I have had some luck with applying thin coats of regular clear top coat every other day or so, which has helped, but still a problem. I do love the nail strips though over gel polish - - so I will continue to search for a solution to use the Dashing Diva strips that I have already purchased. I also tired the Ohora acetone trick to try to melt/seal the edge, but it didn't last for more than a few days before I got hair snagging. I may have to try to perfect that method more.
Hi i just want to say a perk of filing before it is cured is that you will not be putting acrylic powder into the air where u can potentially inhale it as that is very bad for you. I file it soft, its a little annoying but not bad at all, better to avoid the resin dust if you can :)
@@kbeautyhobbit 😞 people forget how toxic it is, in every other environment it is treated with lots of protective gear. Be safe and thanks for the tutorial!
Thanks so much for these tips! I’ve never tried Ohora but have tried Dashing Diva after watching your demos on how to apply them. Would sealing the free edge with a gel topcoat help with the stickiness I get after filing? I’m using the Dashing Diva Gloss, not one that needs curing.
How do you remove them with a top coat on as well? My tips are always so rough - ive tried so hard filing in different directions and still get the slight lift between sticker and nail
Hello, first time I tried applying Ohora today based on your video. I dunno if it's happened to you before but after I applied and cured my top coat, it became less shiny/glossy. I wonder if it's any sort of chemical effect between the Ohora nail wrap and my top coat??
I have never had that happen. Is it a matte top coat by chance? I’ve used gelish, Alice and Bella, lit gels and a few others and all were very glossy / shiny after cure
@kbeautyhobbit hey again, no it's not matte top. It's a No Wipe top, could it be because of that? Instead of it being a regular top coat (that requires wiping) 🤔
Have you tried the squishy light with nail stickers which do not require UV light? Do you think it will work to help it adhere more even though no UV LIGHT is required?
No, I don’t think it’s needed or would make any difference for those types of nail stickers. The rubber tipped cuticle pusher would be sufficient for those
Mine stays on fine without tape. For the slicing someone recommended using Saran Wrap on it - I’ll do that with my next squishy part bc mine is starting to get a bit ripped up as well.
I bet if you wrap the whole end of it with Saran Wrap, overlapping the main body of the device, it will hold everything in place and protect it from tears

The allergies you are talking about are usually to liquid gel that’s not properly applied or cured. I haven’t had any issues. I’m also very careful at how I apply the top coat
Yes. They become hard after curing and might crack if you try to cut them. These aren’t meant to work as nail extensions. If you are trying to use them that way, consider doing the extensions first, then putting the stickers on top
Just did my nails with nail wrap stickers and I still got a few wrinkles despite stretching and smoothing out the wrap 😢 The designs still look good tho, but the perfectionist in me is crying 😂

Like with anything, your mileage may vary hehe. I used to do gel polish but I can’t be as precise with it as I’d like. So stickers are less stressful for me and look better. Maybe I’d feel differently if I had gel polish skills worth mentioning
The included ones often have a “paper” feeling thin base. The curad ones are a thicker fluffier base. I’m aware both have alcohol in them. That’s not the reason for my preference
It works for me. No reason to press them over the edge to file off unless you like it that way. Stickers curved over the edge tend to lift rather quickly.
Great video and Ty for pointing out the filing afterwards. I gotta say tho that the 16 count scgs (huizi) work better if they are filed prior curing. I am not sure about edgeu since they are like 80% cured
@@kbeautyhobbit huizi is the manufacturer of the 20 count NG wraps, the 16 count sg wraps. They are the most available ones next to dashing diva glaze. Also huizi makes the 16ct and 22 count normal nail polish wraps

lol The prep pad they include is an alcohol prep pad, the same as those you buy individually. The box lists the 'ingredients'. Good video though.
And for viewers who may not know, the 'squish light' is a stamper.
The included ones often have a “paper” feeling thin base. The curad ones are a thicker fluffier base. I’m aware both have alcohol in them. That’s not the reason for my preference
Nail stampers typically don’t include a light in them
You cut them too short. If you leave them longer and press them over and the ends then file off.
It works for me. No reason to press them over the edge to file off unless you like it that way. Stickers curved over the edge tend to lift rather quickly.
And how do you remove them???

Fucking Brilliant!
The kind of review I live for!! ✨😅

Great video and Ty for pointing out the filing afterwards. I gotta say tho that the 16 count scgs (huizi) work better if they are filed prior curing. I am not sure about edgeu since they are like 80% cured
I’ve been meaning to try EdgeU. Never heard about huizi.
@@kbeautyhobbit huizi is the manufacturer of the 20 count NG wraps, the 16 count sg wraps. They are the most available ones next to dashing diva glaze. Also huizi makes the 16ct and 22 count normal nail polish wraps
@hollygolightly9572 thanks! Learned something new today ❤️
Hi! The squishy light you have linked is no longer sold, is there another option?
I’m pretty sure they are all the same. This one looks super similar (aff link): amzn.to/3wVodBh
