Man this is awesome, it seems like every other interview with Gregory is 2 minutes long and barely scratching the surface as opposed to this which was very in depth and really humanized Gregory, thank you!
For years I searched for my 'It" artist, I found some that were very talented but just didn't have the impact I was searching for. One day about 4 summers ago way lounging in my hammock listening to pandora enjoying a day off of work when suddenly "that moon song" played and I was forever changed. His music became my life ever since, I've yet to come across one of his songs that I didn't love. I hope to see him in concert someday.
Thank you so much for sharing that bit of inspiration! Greg is an amazing artist AND human being. It was such an honor to interview him!
Absolutely!
nswe2002 Santa cruz California April 27th! catalyst!!
nswe2002 yaaaaas!! A year ago today I had the exact same experience... I was listening to pandora and the stable came on and I had such a profound reaction to his music I had to discover more... his music touched my soul!
That is great!! I still remember the moment when that moon song came on, it was glorious.
This is honestly the best video I've ever found on the internet. I'm not exaggerating. Ever since I've discovered Isakov's music I was soo deeply curious to know more about him and his music and this video proved to be the greatest gem I stumbled upon. The interview is simply BEAUTIFUL. I kept smiling and crying. The songs that come in between are such an incredible touch and add soo much more to the emotional value of the entire conversation. It feels like moving through a story and witnessing different phases and parts of his life, punctuated by a song to let whatever was just said, settle in. I'll forever cherish this thing of beauty. And I wish I could tell you how beyond grateful I am to you for doing this interviews.
Wow, 8 years have passed...
Thanks for the music. Keep it. going...
I am so inlove with his music. He created songs from his heart so unique, touched my heart and consciousness like no other. Its so peaceful and beautiful.
He really is an under appreciated genius, his music and writing is nothing short of masterful and yet he remains so humble. Thank you for the listen
This is hands down the best interview of Gregory Alan Isakov that I've come across!! Amazing job Hugh!!
+harivasan Thank you so much, Harivasan! I'm so glad you enjoyed this interview!
People often wonder how an artist writes a song. If you tell them it just came to you out of blue (a subconscious experience of life), it'd be hard for them to comprehend. Songwriting is something where you step into a blackhole and free fall. However, you feel safe because it's an expression of truth. It's like a river flowing and then you just canoe joining the flow. Every moment in life has its song. And thank you for your beautiful expression. It makes a difference every time a soul is moved by it. Much love to you, Greg
I can't even put into words how much I love his music and his songwriting...The depth of my admiration for him is boundless. Thanks so much for sharing this interview. I'd give anything to attend one of his "barn" shows. :) Amber
+lyriclover810 I'm so glad you enjoyed this interview, Amber! Greg is a remarkable human being and musician - it was an honor to share his story and music!
"I eat fish and eggs, and...babies"...lmao!!! Best interview ever.
I haven't even listened to the first 10 minutes of this, but I have to thank you. I've been going through a really, really hard time lately..and, as usual, I've been using Gregory Alan Isakov's music to help me through. Or help the tears flow. Either way, there aren't many interviews out there that I can find, so thank you for posting one. I can't wait to finish hearing him speak.
You're more than welcome, Josh! I wish you all the best, and hope you feel inspired by Gregory after you hear his entire interview :)
God bless. Most genuinely beautiful person Gregory. Excellent interview albeit too many ads 😁 thank you
great interview, great musician. he seems to be such a down-to-earth, cool guy with so much to say about life.
I know it is way after you posted this, but this interview made me cry. Just by hearing his voice I have chills. You have blessed me with this interview. Thank you so much.
Living proof off of the weatherman was one of my favorites, it makes me to sad to listen to it anymore
Very good interview just wish there was visuals
I've probably listened to this 10 times. You did such a great job, especially considering that you were not super familiar with Gregory's work. Love his music so much
Thanks so much, James :) One of the most wonderful thing about doing this show is learning about all kinds of music outside of my own world, and sharing those discoveries (or "rediscoveries") with others! Greg is amazing, it was such an honor to interview him!
so humble, so gifted. great interview, Hugh!
thank you so much for getting him on this show. appreciate it beyond words
+Maxwell Jose I'm so glad you enjoyed this interview with Greg!
My heart was so lonely till Greg came along.
Started my day off listening to this :) Very thoughtful interview, Hugh. Actually the best I've been able to find. Thanks for having him on. Don't stop doing these!
You know, I was looking for an interview that really got to the heart of this artist I’ve come to love, and I feel like not only did I find it, but I found the best interviewer as well. Great job man, it’s a rare talent to create this inviting atmosphere for an artist to really feel welcome to just speak to you like a friend. Beautiful work.
Well done! So great to hear an interview this in depth with one of my musical influences. I consider this interview a mentoring session for myself, as I'm just getting momentum in my musical pursuits.
Thanks!
Just incredible
❤️ This is a GREAT interview. Thanks
Towards the end of the interview he talks about not wanting to meet his idols lol and here I was on Friday night waiting to meet him... And when I finally did I was a nervous babbling idiot.. But he's a really really awesome guy.
When I met him I was unfortunately the same way lol but he was super cool and we took a pic together
+Michael hensley I didn't get a picture 😔 but I got to hang out with. We went to this bar in Hollywood a few blocks away from the venue he played at and we hung out with Zach Braff. It was awesome.
I ran into him after the show at Hollywood and Vine. It was so cool. I told him all I want to do is send him some seeds from my farm. He obliged. Wow. So yearly I hope to send seeds from NC. Just cool. What a guy.
+Steven Sabal Grimsley I was with him
When you stopped him!!! If you're talking about the show a few weeks ago. We were walking from The Fonda Theater to the Hotel cafe! I remember u doing a double take and realizing who was walking there! Hahaha
Excellent interview! It's lovely to hear from Isakov about so many of these topics. Thanks so much.
Thank you, Melissa! I'm so glad you enjoyed this interview - Greg is wonderful!
Great interview! Thank you so much for posting!
+Dan Amirault Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed this, Dan!

+J.P. Kallio Thanks so much! I really appreciate your comment!
brilliant interview
Thanks, Tom!
I would love to meet him someday
But the harsh reality I wont be able to is really disappointing
Ryan Osborne u never know... last August I went to see him in concert in Hollywood and I waited for him to come out after his show... well he came out and I stopped him and he let me hang out with him... we walked to a nearby bar where Zach Braff had asked to meet him... so it was me Gregory , his manager, Zach braff and his friends... one of the most surreal nights I've ever had.
Byron Vasquez Jr. Sounds amazing. I won't give up hope!
@@Bfolks84 that’s so freaking awesome
i adore hiiiiim
He's really terrific, isn't he? It was such a blast having him on the show!
+Hugh Sung yes he is!!! Thank you for such a wonderful interview btw ^-^
What did he say his favourite poet was?
Billy Collins
The interviewer's laugh needs to be worked on, as it sounds really artificial, but great interview nonetheless.
I feel like his laugh seems so genuine, I must be terrible at reading people
