Absolutely! Steve Varney (overall wizard), Jeb Bows (violin), Max Barcelow (drums and other odd box-shaped things), John Paul Grigsby (bass), and Danny Black (keyboard, old pal joining them on this tour) totally help make Greg's sound the amazing thing it is.
@@danielscott1040 most days these days it is though honestly. You'll find a guy/girl with massive singing/songwriting/entertaining chops and they're surrounded by massive talent on the instruments
One thing that endears GAI to me is how I can listen to each album straight through as a single work and not skip a single song. He has re-taught me to listen to my favorite artists’ work as a whole.
Listening since 2008. Saw him this year for the first time. Cried all night. Wounds were healed for me. The best folk artist of a generation and then some. The band is also unbelievably talented. Such incredible masterful musicians of their respective instruments.
Saw him in Asheville at the beginning of October. It was absolutely soul-touching. I got some drinks out at a gin bar after the show with the friends I went with, and an hour and a half later he and the band walked in! Such a kind and gracious dude. We were on our way out, but of course we wanted to thank them for the show and their music’s impact on us. He was so humble and welcoming, offered me a photo, and invited us to chat with he and the band for a bit. His banjo/keys guy, Steve Varney, who I’m also a huge fan of, talked with me for like 20 minutes about some nerdy instrument stuff.
Became a fan of Gregory this year and I saw him live twice back in August it was truly magical and incredible, he sounds so amazingly live almost like your hearing the studio versions. He also seems such like down to earth person with so much strong passion he has towards his music and his farm just a genuine human.
I was at his concert just a few days ago. I got emotional so many times. Most of the comcert I had my eyes closed. Such a profound experience, made me think if we had peace in the world. Grateful
Love this album so much but this recording is just so incredible. Each element adds to the overall whole and it’s just perfect. Get some headphones and hang for a bit.
I am not sure what emotions are going on when I hear his songs, and the backup vocals are out of this world. Everything about this is so real. Immaculate recording. Put in earbuds and be transported. ❤️
Absolutely. This is why I actually like real speakers in my home. Too many people playing music out of crappy computer speakers or (gasp) their phones. You miss so much.
We saw him at the Ryman a few weeks ago, such a wonderful concert, he ended the concert with the Stable song, whole audience on their feet singing with them. Wonderful night! Thank you so much.
I was there too with my lifelong best friend and it was so incredible! One of those magical moments in life that I will never ever forget. God bless this band and their hearts for music and truth.
I had the pleasure of seeing Gregory Alan Isakov and his band live a few weeks ago. If you have the chance, definitely go see him! It was a magical performance, a sold out crowd swaying and singing along to his songs. It was the best show I've ever been to. I hope I can see them live again someday! So, so, soooo much talent.
His voice is like the softest velvet blanket , wrapped in the perfect way, on a cold night cuddled up on a couch with a love and no where else to be but right there….lost in the lyrics and the moment.
I just recently stumbled on Gregory. And after hearing this, I can’t believe I passed on seeing him when he played in Mpls. That won’t happen again. Stunning
I love how Danny fell in so seamlessly. He's another layer of love and power that makes these boys so special. What did happen to Phillip? Just curious.
Magnificent ❤ A great band playing music that really just lifts me up and I have to sing along like I’m there with you all. Keep on doing what you do 💗👏 Vic xxx
Really enjoyed the musical set, of course, but the interview is a worthwhile listen, as well. Love the Springsteen stuff about Nebraska and The Ghost of Tom Joad.
I'm seeing Gregory and band early next year a few days after my birthday... My favorite artist... I play ... And soak it all up :) I might steel a line from this song for an album title... I think you know which one... I'm small time it's legal ;) thanks gregory
Omg this is amazing. Thank you for posting this rare version. This song hits home for me. My best friend has been through a lot and this song sums up her courage.
Very 1865... probably. Interesting that modern music has futuristic techno push me to the next century vibes or I wish I lived in simpler times vibes. I like the later usually - i guess a soul shanty beats a modem for me.
Maybe put the ads BETWEEN the songs instead of in the middle....Why on earth would you interrupt the music and destroy the experience for your audience? That's a really good way to drive people away.
A massive talent surrounded by massive talent.

It should be, a massive talent, surrounded by a mass of talent. Right?

We kind of just discovered this guy. He is definitely a massive talent. And his band too. What a joy just finding and being introduced to his oeuvre.
His songs are finely crafted works of art. No one does it quite like him, dreamlike, ephemeral, timeless and rooted so deeply

This is the best way I’ve seen to describe Gregory’s sound
His voice transports me out of this world. This song.

I can't wait for his show in NZ
What an awesome experience for you!
De esas anécdotas que no nos pueden faltar 😉

I saw him live twice and bawled both times ❤
I've been a fan for over a decade and still never saw him live. I'm jealous. Peace.
Massive, massive thumbs up for the audio crew who worked on this session!
They engineered the sh*t out of it!!
RESPECT!
his music got me through depressing office jobs for years. loving the mix on this beautiful live performance. kudos to all involved
Had the pleasure of being graced by these wonderful sounds in providence tonight. What a special night man. Gregory and the crew are special.

Love the ads during the songs sweet
It’s hard to describe how I feel about GAI and their music. All I know is nothing else compares, I feel it my soul, and listen to them exclusively ❤
the chat after was the icing on the cake - well done!
Dublin Ireland Nov. 22nd. Cant wait...😍

This Empty Northern Hemisphere got me through studying for university exams back in the day
This is _the_ reason to be on RUclips. Such a giant
Simply amazing.
Getting closer to what is real in this world.
Love you my Moon and Deep Blue Sea ❤
I find Gregory's songs most beautiful. His accompaniment is the secret sauce that takes it to heavenly. Thank you Current.
I loved every bit of this. So beautiful.
His voice is like the softest velvet blanket , wrapped in the perfect way, on a cold night cuddled up on a couch with a love and no where else to be but right there….lost in the lyrics and the moment.

Amazing sound quality of the recording of an amazing sounding band. I wish when I had seen them live, the venue's acoustics had been this good.
Great song, very Beautiful vocals and perfect instruments collaboration.
Gregory is my religion.
Gosh, his voice is just so unique. Love it.
Big fan of Gregory since few years now. Pity that he won't visit Poland during this tour 😢
I love how Danny fell in so seamlessly. He's another layer of love and power that makes these boys so special. What did happen to Phillip? Just curious.
Gregory Alan IsakGOD
Gregory and the band make music that reaches me like nothing else can.
Love this guy - he's a gem. I hear some Andrew Bird in him, as well as others. Evening Machines is my fav.
What an absolute treat! And 2 days before Gregory's birthday. Amazing 👏 ❤
What a great sound, new fan here 🙌🙌
So incredibly healing and magical is Gregory.
wow what was that so cool
Favorite artist from music to farm. Love this!
ABILITY and perfect TIMING makes Gregory great 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I just love this!!! Please bring more GAI
I really wish this live version was available on their platforms. I really think these versions are superior to their studio versions.
Divine
This was so good! They sound amazing no matter where or what they are doing! Cant wait to see him live again!
this is fantastic!
Saw him and the band in Atlanta. Such beautiful skills.

Beautiful, fellas!
Nice to see Mac Wilson dressing up for the interview.
Thank you!

🎉 wow - sweet sounds
gregory is the man!!
Wonderful interview - Gregory is such a great guy and he and the band just seem to blend so well
Lol, my next record is not cohesive but listening to Greg for years inspires me to start making records with more of plan.
Absolute genius
Impressionante.
My greatest wish is to see GAI live. Unfortunately he doesnt stop at my country on his tour.
I did see him live 5 days ago in Montreal, Canada! I had been waiting for this for years! I hope you will get to see him soon!

We all break a little…
Why allow an ad to interrupt the middle of the performance
the guy with 3 instruments better get extra
Very 1865... probably. Interesting that modern music has futuristic techno push me to the next century vibes or I wish I lived in simpler times vibes. I like the later usually - i guess a soul shanty beats a modem for me.
Call me hater, idc. This dude wore cargo SHORTS to interview GAI. SHOW SOME RESPECT. Smh
Can anybody identify what sort of instrument Max is playing? Thanks!
Pretty sure it’s a harmonium
Thank you @@smallships !
Where has Steve Varney gone?
He’s playing piano
Is it me or did the interviewer ask some really random questions?
No one loves GAI more than I do.
I challenge you to
🙄🤣
That interviewer is so far removed from how Gregory lives lol. Referencing Rage and Greg’s like oh yea cool. Sorry man I play beautiful earthly music.
Maybe put the ads BETWEEN the songs instead of in the middle....Why on earth would you interrupt the music and destroy the experience for your audience? That's a really good way to drive people away.
Lol he asks him about the vibes on Longmont and he talks about lettuce... that was either kinda douchy or if his mind actually works like that unique
❤
