One of the few acapella groups that really get into character when they sing, so the songs sound authentic. They always take a song and make it theirs with an arrangement that makes it different from the original.
Really enjoying your reactions. I am already on record as absolutely loving them 'acting out' their songs, but I have also loved some of their videos that were done much more simply, just 5 people lined up in a group and singing. But I think the Voiceplay difference is that whenever they do a cover, they are looking to bring 'something extra' to it. I saw a video with Geoff saying that he didn't feel there was any reason to do a cover if all you were going to do was make an exact duplicate of the original arrangement, just using voices in lieu of instrumentation. For wonderful theatricality, I'd certainly recommend "The Oogie Boogie Song." If you aren't familiar with "The Nightmare Before Christmas" (which the song comes from), I'd recommend watching a clip of the song from the original movie first. They definitely make it their own, unique version, as attested by the fact that reviewers who LOVE the movie and were expecting to be disappointed by an acapella 'rip-off' version have found it awesome.
In the 'day of shooting behind the scenes' video they said that Ashley was wearing a size small for the blouse and Geoff was wearing a (woman's) size medium. Admittedly, it is a loose-fitting top. Before he even tried it on, they showed it to Goeff's wife, Kathy, and asked if she thought it would fit, and she just shrugged her shoulders and said, "Yeah, probably." He's not a really big guy, claims height of 5'11&1/2 " but he and Layne are so much taller than the other guys that it makes them appear much bigger in comparison. I can't quite quote the conversation that went on about the shorts, but it sounded like the problem was not that the shorts didn't fit around his waist or hips, but they had to make sure that another part of his anatomy wasn't being exposed or restricted too much...
I am really enjoying your reactions to Voiceplay! May I recommend The Dragonborn Comes, it's the theme from the game Skyrim. I'm not a gamer, but you don't have to be to enjoy it. Also, Can't Help Falling in Love. It includes two former members, so you won't recognize everyone, but it is great. You haven't reacted to any of Geoff Castellucci's (the bass) solo work yet. He started his own channel during the pandemic. I would suggest House of the Rising Sun for your first venture. He's only got 13 covers, so choose what you will, and enjoy!
@@BamiRosie Hi ma'am! Pls. do check the Live version, of KATRINA VELARDE AND JESSICA VILLARUBIN (LIVE REHEARSAL) "I SURRENDER". Kat is wearing a white pants!
Voice play is greatly talented I am a fan and I like your reactions so let's rec my mother told me. By voice play Geoff show's off alittle lol you will love it
Great reaction! It is hard to be prepared. They are a constant surprise. The first time I watched this I was a little confused by Geoff’s wardrobe change. Then I realized he was Camilo the Shapeshifter and he was shifting into Bruno then Isabella and then back into Bruno. This is such a fun production. You can’t tell because he is seated, but Geoff is wearing pink shorts that match Ashley‘s since he’s playing a female lead there. Also the portion with the rose petals had to be filmed with everything going double speed so that when they slowed it down for the video the rose petals would be floating by rather than just blasting into their faces which is what really was happening🌸(To get the petals to move fast enough so they didn’t drop to the ground and also to get Ashley’s hair to flow like that they actually had to use not only a fan but a leaf blower!) But even with thise pink shorts, Cesar and Layne stole the show. Between Cesar’s facial expressions and reactions, and Layne not only beatboxing but rapping Dolores‘s lines and providing the bass line when Geoff was busy, they were a powerhouse. For something totally different, you might check out PattyCake Productions. It is co-owned by the beatboxer and Tony Wakim who replaced Layne as baritone from 2011 to 2016. They have an original series called Villains Lair with all of the villains from Disney animated films. The cast members and their costumes are amazing and all of the music is original. They also have unexpected musicals which are great fun. One of my favorites, surprisingly enough, is Snow Spears. It is a five minute history of Snow White but set to Britney Spears music.( I love the part where after she eats the apple Malificent sings “Toxic”.). It’s extremely creative and so underrated. If you are a Disney live action fan (or even if you are not) their recent Villains Room is unbelievable. I did have to look up some of the characters since I don’t usually watch the live actions. Maleficent and Jadis, the white witch from Narnia, are spot on doubles for the original actresses.
I agree about Pattycake, but my favorites are Bump In The Night (a definite for Halloween!) and The Will.of.Oz. This one tells the Wizard Of Oz story with music from the Blackeyed Peas. If you’re familiar with VoicePlay, you’ll see some familiar faces, like Eli, Earl, and Geoff’s wife Kathy. The cast also has three of Layne’s girls and Rachael Copeland of The American Sirens (another group you might want to check out sometime. They did preform with Geoff on one of his Christmas videos.)
Check out Voiceplays My Mother Told Me, and The Dragonborn Comes...then Definitely check out Geoff Castellucci (the bass singer from Voiceplay) and some of his solo pieces. Perhaps start with his covers of 16 tons, Misty Mountains Cold, Monster Mash, and House of the Rising Sun.
VoicePlay fans expect the unexpected. It's always a bonus.
So they always know when the Spanish Inquisition are gonna arrive.

"I swear... I'm never prepared." - Best comment of the whole reaction, so understated.

They always make me smile, and usually they lift my mood a lot. Love VoicePlay.
I keep wondering where they found the top in sizes that fit Ashley and Geoff! Love this version!
And the shorts!! You can’t tell because he is sitting down but he is wearing the same pink shorts!!!

Totally enthralled with this video. So wonderfully arranged and sung. They are brilliant 😊
