I've had my Subaru Forester Premium for about 5 months and I LOVE it! Almost every time I drive it I can't believe I actually own this wonderful car. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that the seat heaters get really warm. I can't have mine on high for very long. I usually have it on the second setting. (We live in Wisconsin) Thanks for doing these update videos.
I have a 2024 Crosstrek and 2025 Forester. Screens work great. And, no issues with heating and AC systems. They have physical knobs for everyday use needs and, when you do need to click on screen, controls are right there and easy to use. Have tried several other vehicles as alternatives and did not find any better than Subaru’s..
They are both great vehicules. If you need more space, go with the Forester. Otherwise the Crosstrek is great - and is less costly. The interiors are very similar so that’s good. For both vehicles, recommend you get the 2.5 L engine rather than the 2.0 L. The 30 additional HP is good. Was worried about whether the 180 HP on the Forester would be adequate and was happy to find that have had no real issues in this regard for normal drivers.
Got my top of the line 2025 forester June 2024. One of the early ones. 6k now. The heated seats are great. In fact, so warm that I usually have to turn them way down. No complaints. Sure the blue shows dirt, but I love the color. And the car!
For sure! Hopefully once Subaru’s hybrids come out they boost the companies overall efficiency ratings so that they can bring out some more playful cars. I just heard the first Hybrid Foresters should be hitting lots around April!
@ Different type of hybrid. Mine is a 2.0l weak engine with a 15hp electric motor. The new one is based on Toyota tech, it works in the same way as Prius, but its packages differently
I was interested in a Forester but my sister has had two and they're so freaking slow. I definitely would have gone for it if there were an XT version, like our Legacy and the Outback
It feels okay up to about 35mph but beyond that for my driving style at least it's clearly an underpowered car. Hit the gas and all it does is drone. If it had the turbo like our Legacy XT I definitely would have been a buyer.
Thanks for sharing this! So many people (myself included) also feel that way about a turbo Forester. Hopefully Subaru catches on soon that we want it back!!
@AutomotiveAnonymous208 I've read a number of RUclips comments about the XT having notable turbo lag, but I really don't experience that with our Legacy. It's especially true when it's already moving and, at that point, I think the acceleration is superb. I also don't drag race with the Legacy, stomping on it from a dead stop, so maybe that's where people have complaints? My other car is a 2019 GT Mustang convertible so it's not like I don't know anything about acceleration. In any case, it's so far superior to the 2.5, I can't believe anyone complains about it at all. To each their own.
My 2025 Forester Touring has been great so far. My only complaint is the fact that we purchased the “top level” vehicle only to get home is to find that there is NO Homelink to allow you to open the garage doors with with buttons on the rear view mirror. Other levels include Homelink, but the fact that the Touring has the Digital Rear View mirror that doesn’t include it is crazy.
I didn’t know that until today when another comment also shared this! I always assumed the 3 buttons on the lower left side were for that. Sorry to hear that but thanks for sharing with us!!
Had no idea the top of the line Touring omitted Homelink. Subaru does some really stupid shit. WE went from a 2019 Limited to a 2023 Wilderness and lost the heated steering wheel. Living in Ski country we really miss it. Doesn't make any sense why the outdoor/off road/adventure model Wilderness omitted the heated steering wheel????
im now 1,333km with our forester, perfect timing for our new born, very comfy for both my wife and the baby. winter tires and snow/icy roads feel assuring with this vehicle :) happy elbow space and knee space in comparison to our friend’s rav4 hybrid.
I had an '18 Forester bought new, and now I've been considering getting a '25 maybe Sport trim. But with the issues of the heating not working and most of all cracked windshields, it gives me pause really. As on aside and off topic, I saw the 2026 Outback shown on RUclips and contrary to reports that Subaru was abandoning the station wagon shape for a typically looking suv, this upcoming Outback will continue to look like a wagon, albeit in a more contemporary look. It's the hybrid model. It looks great and is very well equipped. Prices for the 2026 models will be from 35,000 to 45,000 USD.
Same 2018 Limited (Touring) 142,000km (Canada) Zero mechanical issues. Oil changed every 8000km at dealer. Purchased new, several road trips. 2 issues with interphase, 1 Has bugged since I purchased it. They changed it, and the problem has remained intermittent. I have learned to live with it. 2, as well the interphase electric box under the driver's seat, has busted twice being under the driver's seat, as it is vulnerable to salt and water in the winter. Yes, I have Weather Tech mats. The second time was in 2024 way out of warranty, and Subaru Canada changed it again covering the over 3k cost for replacement box, and harness, wiring. No engine problems at all. I get great mileage on the highway. I tested a 2025, and did not like the driver focus attention warning going off constantly when using the touch screen. Also thinking of changing this year, and I am strongly considering a CRV Hybrid, but waiting to see the 2026 Rav4 hybrid, as well as both the Forester and CX5 upcoming hybrids. Great review of your 2025 Forester which looks like a 2011 Explorer up front, and a older Mitsubishi Outlander in the back -:)
I just bought a 2025 Forester Premium 5 days ago, the heated seats are actually so warm that I don't even put them past level 2 when I'm cold and I put them back down to 1 when I warm up. (Mind you, I run hot naturally) We just had a pretty decent batch of snow and ice where I'm at and the combo of the Yokohama tires and AWD never made me nervous for a second. So far, I'm loving it!
I picked up my premier about a month after you got yours. I didn’t try the heated seats until the temps dropped below freezing here in Minnesota, and I love them. If anything they are too hot as I can’t use them on anything but the lowest setting.
If Subaru would offer the 2.4L Turbo in this new generation of Forester I’d buy one today, literally. There’s no way that I’m putting up with a 10-10.5 second 0-60 in today’s world. That’s actually unsafe among modern traffic flow. I will check out the hybrid when they finally release it later this year.
Interesting to see your mpg on the 2025. I have a 2022 that has been mostly driven on the freeway, with a handful of multi-state trips, and have averaged over 30 mpgs.
Heated seats seem just fine for the weather here on the Oregon coast. No complaints about that. I-5@75MPH mileage was sitting at just above 37mpg and, living in smaller town Florence, Or, mileage sits at about 31mpg. My 6 month old 2025 Premium is now worth about $26k, down about $5k but this is a car I am planning on keeping so not a big deal. Very comfortable ride and still looks good. Lots of safety features that are $$$ on other vehicles. 0-60 is not great but plenty of power for hills and passing. Auto stop start is a joke. Usually only functions when I pull back into the garage at the end of a drive. Hopefully works better in stop and go freeway driving. Overall, I give this high marks. Will be adding Falken Wild Peak AT trail tires soon for back road exploration purposes and general driving. Please remember that, when at the dealership, everything is negotiable, including the extended warrantee the F n I person will try to sell you. Enjoy your new ride!
It is that but, like an investment, it really means nothing until you sell it. And just to be clear, unless you are purchasing a 1969 Camaro SS, in general, today's autos are not to be looked at as an investment. Just an expensive necessity.
In Louisiana, I've gotten 34 mpg on the Interstate (28 around town) in my '25 Forester Touring this winter without AC. Only complaint is about the small symbols I have to hit on the Info-tainment screen to say go from Apple music to maps when I'm driving. So I'm learning more audio commands. Unlike you, I detail my Subie every month to keep it clean and my only complaint there is that I wish the B pillar was piano black: The matte finish is harder to maintain.
Thanks for sharing this! Haha I hope my dirty example wasn’t too difficult to watch. Idk what the next update video will be on this car but if I show much of the exterior I’ll probably get it cleaned first to show the difference. 🤪

Subaru’s fit’n’finish is very average😬. It’s worse than a Toyota from 2010!! It’s a shame because I really like Subaru’s form factor and AWD but the boxer engine, CVT and quality are a dead-set let down.
We have a '23 Forester Wilderness and '22 RAV4 SE Hybrid. Subaru made in Japan is FAR higher quality all round. Paid $31,000 in 2020 for a loaded Touring .
Nice!! Was that the brand new price back then?
@@AutomotiveAnonymous208 about $36,000 got just over $5,000 off MSRP. That was during. covid ii bought 2 Foresters got over $9,000 from MSRP and 0 % interest on both.
Living in Ski Country with cold winters and city driving Gas mileage sucks in the Subaru. We drive less than 3000 miles a year so it's not an issue. Snow driving the Subaru is far superior. The RAV4 SE is much faster and handles far better. Getting in and out of the Subaru is a lot easier.
