I feel like Tien stalling Cell has to be one of the most badass moments in DBZ. It's a miracle he had the strength to remain airborne despite the weight of all that steel between his legs.
Especially compared to how hard it was for him to do it in the fight against nappa compared to now.
He did it with one arm against nappa and it killed him

That line when Cell jokingly asked Tien why *he* showed up with “What, was Krillin busy?” works so well for two reasons:
1. Krillin is actually busy
2. Tien is the only serious character. You do not joke with Tien. That is the joke.
I thought it was bc they’re both bald and the strongest of the human fighters. Maybe?
He makes jokes in like half his lines.
I agree, even when Tien is joking about Vegeta (being a smart ass to him) he knows he can die for it but Tien fears no adversary, because he's a solid warrior.

It ain't even remotely close at this point. He's just given so much more respect and made so much more interesting in his personality and dynamics here. Like how he stands up to and even mocks Vegeta and Cell knowing they won't fight back. Or how Cell hates him in particular for stalling/hurting him. Things that feel perfect for the character and could've even been in the original series.
TFS did a lot of things better than the creators did...
They did alot of characters better tbh.
This entire series really set the bar for what an abridged series could be. I just hope people continue to remember TFS Dragon Ball Z and Hellsing Ultimate Abridged

@@haroonahamed5388 I've heard that, but I've never bought that. Goku is based off a Chinese character Sun Wukong and I'm pretty sure chi-chi wears chinese clothing. So if they hated Tien for his... Chineseness, they'd probably hate Goku and chi-chi more. I'm sure there is some other reason they don't like him.
ColddFire. I know the current writers of super (both manga and anime, cause toriyama doesn’t right either just gives them a really vague outline of the arcs) hate him. But Toriyama actually likes Tien a lot, that’s why every arc, when he was writing it, Tien had his moment no matter how little sense it made for the power scaling
this single episode did Tien more justice than most if not all of DBS

It's the last cool thing he ever did. There is no joke.
It is insane how this is the *best* adaptation and showing of the Kikoho ever. The intensity of the voice acting is higher than that of the Japanese with the pronunciation and terminology better than the dub. All the while the additional sound effects on the zoom in and blasts give it more impact than any other version.
Even with the comedy introduced of Roshi hearing it a few islands over this was way more intense than any of the official showings.
And then right after Gokus instant teleportation is bottled down to this lame ass pop sound. That cracked me right up 😂
It's not difficult to be better when you're working off of someone else's work.
The Tien segment is done way better in tfs than in the Funimation dub.

I’m waiting for this episode up until 53. IMO the best episodes although the entire cell saga is hilarious and well written.
I hope they bring on Gan for this episode to give in-depth points about voicing one of the best scenes in the series.

The_Sauce 1820 Cell later down the line in the series gets wrecked by WAYYYYY more powerful attacks but keeps on regenerating from them again and again. Cell asking how durable he is sets up the shit he’s gonna go through and shows us as the viewers how strong and hard to kill he really is.

The biggest problem with DBZ is not having any species have a super transformation. If Krillin could become a super human, he would probably be as strong as Piccolo by this arc. Or even Kaioken!

You know, some people say that Tien and the other humans hardly grow after the Frieza saga, or the Frieza saga in Krillin's case, but going from using the Kikohou once before dying (Nappa) to probably more than 10 times against Cell really says otherwise.

It’s debatable. I like Lani way better than Sabat for Vegeta. And the androids being allowed to have emotions in TFS makes them sound better to me, but I know a lot of people like the dub/sub androids.

@@FirstLast-wk3kc idk, krillin got his potential unlocked by guru. That was like 5 years ago by that time. In my headcanon krillin is the strongest human because of that.
Tien did get trained trained by King Kai, but that didn't show any significant power boost. The only people getting significantly stronger there were goku and piccolo. The former receiving a ~10x power boost plus kaioken and genkidama in half a year. The latter being bs considering he went from a power of ~1000 to at least 50000 in like 2 weeks. The fusion with nail supposedly gave him a 10-20x power boost which made him go toe to toe with 2nd form frieza at 1 mil.
If tien got a similar power up, fair enough, but this is the only real feat of strength after tien died. (Not counting the Ginyus on Kais planet, since that feels like filler)

Tien's greatest moment, both in the original series and abridged. Out powered and outclassed, but no fucks given. Slowed down Semi-perfect Cell and actually gave 18 a chance at evasion. Shame it was ultimately fruitless.
Not fruitless. Cell would've absorbed 18 much sooner and everyone would've died had Tien not chosen to interfere and spam the Shin Kikoho.

As much as I'd like to agree with you that this wasn't a fruitless effort, I can't see it happening. Cell tended to not kill his targets the first moment he had the chance (See: Not killing Vegeta and Trunks immediately after reaching perfect state, The Cell games, etc.). If he did absorb 18 at that point, he probably would have gone right on to challenging everyone at the Cell games and waiting a few days for people to train like +Broken Monkey (BrokenMonkey) pointed out.

FilterExel I disagree. The fact that he gave them 7 days to prepare for Cell Games was due to the fact Vegeta gave him some pounding and impressed him (I assume). So Cell decided to try them all. If he was Perfect Cell right away, he wouldn't have much noticed an interest in anyone to begin with. So I think Tien's effort was not futile!
