As a former Casino Worker, when this happens, it put not only 1 worker out of a job, but entire families that work in one Casino. Some of the Born & Raised Atlantic City residents feel the wrath of losing their jobs at a Casino. My entire department at Harrah's moved to Baton Rouge without any promise of a job. I still Love Atlantic City with all my Heart. It Must survive these hard hit times.
I worked there as a dealer fir 11 years , I decided I had enough of working in smoke with a bunch of losers and opened up 2 restaurants and now I am a successful entrepreneur. These losers on the boardwalk have no self esteem . Pick yourself up and get a life .
From the history of its construction it seems the plans were overly ambitious. So I can't blame the unions or the last owners. It truly was doomed to end. Sorry, Chump. It's not the 8th Wonder of the World. But the real Taj Mahal is still standing and appreciated.
Was at the Taj . . . jus an elevated walkway, from the Showboat . . . jus north along the Boardwalk. Once, as a guest of Showboat with a room facing south . . . saw Donald's helo land atop The Taj . . . maybe one year before he purposely closed the Taj . . . for good ! 😬 😱 💀 😲 😵
Glad it's Hard Rock now! Much better! Heart goes out to all that lost their jobs. ALOT OF great workers and staff here. Shows you what corporate greed does to America!
What killed AC was the fact NYC opened casinos . Without NYC money AC would have never existed to begin with . I personally loved AC but I feel if the workers met the union halfway it probably would have still been opened.
Really hope Hard Rock turns this property around under their ownership and the workers who lost their jobs can get their jobs back. There were other complicated problems outside of the strike over the course of time which lead to its demise. The property barely had money to keep afloat let alone try to compensate the workers but since they continued to lose money, they were unable to strike a deal for the workers and ultimately led to its closure.
It's about running a profitable business. When it stops maki ng money, it needs to be closed down. It's not complicated. Why do workers find it a personal attack on them? It's life. Move on and move forward
This is what happened because he was running for POTUS. He had to sell everything he could and get out while he still has his hyde! End of an era. Good riddance to now bad rubbish.
rDump killed it before it was ever even built. He exploded the construction costs more than 3 times the original figure, and he funded it through impossible to pay back junk bonds.
Stop using one line phases and do your research. From the start the casino had to clear $2M per day just to break even due to excessive construction costs. Then Trump tried to hide the loses by purchasing million more in junk bonds. Right a few thousand for people to live a livable wage caused the closure.
Say what you want about unions but if unions never formed we would not have sick days, medical coverage, pensions, and protection. Scum bag right to work states can fire anyone with giving a reason. And yes unions protect too many bums.
I'm glad to have been part of this Iconic casino. I bartended there over a decade ago. I still have my ID badge. One of my most favorite jobs ever. It's bittersweet when I see older movies with the Taj in a scene or two. 🩵

I worked at Harrah’s in East Chicago, Indiana…then it was sold to Resorts, then Ameristar.
That "All We Are Saying" chant was annoying asf lol
NO ONE CASINO BE THE SAME LIKE TAJ MAHAL, IT WAS THE BEST,
If a strike can shut you down forever, your business model is extremely weak.
tHANK YOU FOR A GREAT STORY AND COVERAGE, I WISH IT WAS LONGER. i WORKED THERE 2 SUMMERS ONCE AFTER COLLEGE AND IN THE SUMMER DURING LAW SCHOOL.
now this place became Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
So proud to have been part of such a great family!

@@borgata23 What a horrible thing to say to someone
@@KoasterKid95 truth hurts
@@borgata23 You're telling him to get a life because he worked at a casino and lost his job...?
@@KoasterKid95 no .
It happens In Vegas all the time one owner pulls the pin another one buys it up and so on. It sucks.
Local 54. And the ac unions were part of the problem
Stupid is as stupid does
What were the workers asking for ??
I left this place 20 years ago I knew it was going to die

As an ex UNITE-HERE member this group was always greedy and trying to bullyva bankrupt business. Now look at what happened. Karma is a bish
The Atlantic City casinos lost a lot of business when Pennsylvania opened its own casinos like Parx and Sugarhouse.
Harrah's, Live, Valley forge and countless other casino in PA why would they want to patronize AC?😢
Good jackpots were there!
People lives families where not paid and ended up suffering still to this day

I hit a few hand pays there. Loved Sultan’s Castle. I gave the machines hell there every trip
Im from New Jersey and love Atlantoc City. Greed and bad policies force good companies to sell to investors and go out of business.
Glad it's Hard Rock now! Much better! Heart goes out to all that lost their jobs. ALOT OF great workers and staff here. Shows you what corporate greed does to America!
Actually hard rock is the corporation and trump was the family business …
Most of em were relocated directly to hard rock
That casino has mice. At least I've seen some vermin in there once or twice.
The biggest vermin would undoubtedly be an orange one calling himself 'Trump'.
How could you leave Dancing Bob hanging. That guys a wonder.
If you want to know what Bridgeton is like , look at rose @ 1:39. It’s bad
What killed AC was the fact NYC opened casinos . Without NYC money AC would have never existed to begin with . I personally loved AC but I feel if the workers met the union halfway it probably would have still been opened.
And Philly opened a casino, plus online gambling.
I believe the city of Atlantic City NJ has learned its lesson.
Good,glad to see them go.
I miss there:(
same i used to go there all the time as a kid:(
You know right guys, I miss Trump Taj Mahal so much. 😔
If you think losing a job is a victory... well... be my guest.
TOO MANY PEOPLE LOST THAM JOB, I AM VERY UPCET
I think the AC city is dead. Not the casino issue. People from east coast prefer fly to Vegas than bus to AC.
More life on the picket line than in the damned casino!
Thats the problem it wasn't his casino anymore.
Drumpf Taj Mahal. another business bites the dust.

Wow mind boggling how could he lose. Don't make sense at all.A Casino loseing money and it's nice.Nightmareest.
first guy “it’s kinda sad”. not half as sad as his term in office.
same goes with the US Corpse -imploded
Carl icon made money on year with the place and they were out striking for more money after that! Lol He should've closed it a while ago then what huh
And at the end of the day they still lost their jobs, so what was the point?
Trump a metaphor for America , America a metaphor for trump
Again, it wasn't owned by Trump when it closed for years prior.
Hey maybe trump will bail it out. Hahahahaha.
This is what happened because he was running for POTUS. He had to sell everything he could and get out while he still has his hyde! End of an era. Good riddance to now bad rubbish.
This will be the country in 4 years
isawicame it’s been 4 years and everyone I know has benefited from trump
@@alek488 gooooood gooooooooooood
It's getting closer to it now.
Don't blame the workers for inept management.
Good ole Union put another crowd out of work.
cant make money owning a casino, what a failure.
CASINOS DO NOT PRODUCE ANY VALUE
A very POOR businessman
The union killed it.

Trump and Taj have a showy facade but nothing of substance behind it
Ridiculous old quote from angry employee it was amazing inside
Trumps fault not the unions.. He was bankrupt, who the fuck goes bankrupt with a casino🤷♀️🤦♀️. A con man does hello
Really stupid thing to say I can tell you know nothing about business
Fake news 👎
