James Tavernier was nominated for Scotland’s POTY last season, 12 MOTM awards in the league, highest average match rating of any player last season (even O’Reily) in the SPFL. Tavernier was named in the Team of the Season as the best Rb in the country with the most appearances for any outfield player. He will leave as one of the last remaining player at Rangers with any experience of winning the league. A very sad day, and I hope Tavernier lights up whatever club are lucky to get him. I have enjoyed watching Tavernier for many years and it is sad someone of his ability is leaving, and we are unlikely to find one again in our lifetimes. Deserves his place in the hall of fame and will always be a legend for retiring Rangers place at the top of Scottish football, and taking us to a major European final.

He can't defend well, which like it or not is a part of his job as an attacking full back and these wonderful deliveries, where were those deliveries for most of last season? Most of his corners and crosses went straight into the keepers arms over and over. Others can take penalties and free kicks as well. Time for a new era. Bring it on. Finally we can unite as a support and get positivity going as well. The battle scarred and fearful play will be out the door, if we can get Goldson and Tav out, Davies as well hopefully, and Matondo and Wright. Do that and our fortunes can actually change. If a Saudi club paid £10 million for TAV and gave him 4 x his wages i'd have said I wish he could stay but would have wished him well. but a few million to Trabzonspor makes no sense. He's been our top goalscorer for a good few seasons and would cost a lot to replace. Is he a great RB NO. is he a BAD RB no. when there are poor performances he often gets the blame- and it is USUALLY a lot of TEAM performances that fell short NOT just him. and for every poor performance tht YOU COULD ARGUE cost us 3 points there were 10 where HE scored goals from nowhere to rescue THOSE POINTS. His goals in Europe got us to the final.
IF he was moved to RM as Rickson was - and thrived he would get MORE GOALS and we would hve a better RB behind him.
everyone said Sterling was amazing at Right wing and he was great, and he scored one goal and 2 assists. I LOVE HIM but does ANYBODY THINK that if TAV was RW for same games he would only have scored or assisted in 3 goals? If so you need medicated, 24 hour supervision, in a high security ward.
TAV bleeds blue and will ALWAYS be the man who gives the most in EVERY GAME.
OUR TEAM is not garbage. it has weakspots. we lost the league because of 1 bad week. we NEED to buy 2 or 3 RELIABLE GOALSCORERS AND A CENTRAL DEFENCE and we will beat Celtic simple as that.
all the TAV haters - dont waste your time trying to convince me otherwise. Ive heard the arguments and I dont agree.
He might cost us a few goals but scores FAR MORE.
just coz managers cant use him to the best of his talents isnt his fault.
WATCH last season. TAV saved our asses on a dozen occassions. IT WAS POOR STRIKE RETURNS from rubbish forwards, and wobbly central defence of Goldson, Souttar were far more to blame.
WE DONT NEED BLOODY MIDFIELDERS. SIGN shankland AND ANOTHER 2 .
Beale lost our strikers and signed DUDS. we got Lost Colak , and got Dessers for Morelos and Lammers for SAKALA. thats what did the damage.

Whoever feels like it I guess. Once Tavernier leave the quality of delivery will be much poorer and Youkll be less likely to see Rangers scoring from a free-kick until we find someone like him again, when he came through the door and offered us a dead ball specialist it was much needed at that time. I think many have taken it for granted.

@@BillyMcMorranwhat percentage of free kicks does he score and he scored 15 penalties out of 20 last season that isn't a dead ball specialist

@@chris-mc4dg Look at the amount of goals James Tavernier scores from free-kicks and penalties. Look at the amount of goals that come as a result of his deliveries from set-pieces. James Tavernier is one of the best set-piece takers in the history of Rangers football club. He scored two world class free-kicks against Joe Hart in the last two seasons. Tavernier had multiple goal of the season contenders last year after just a few weeks. Last minute winner against Servette, League winner against Aberdeen, guy was running from his own half and putting them in the top corners. Unreal.

@@BillyMcMorran you are saying look at these numbers but providing nothing for me to look at I just told you he scored 15 out of 20 penalties last season that isn't a specialist how many free kicks and corners percentage wise from tavernier lead to a goal if you can't provide numbers to back up your point then you are just blowing bubbles you do realise we have an average of 13 corners a game and we scored 4 goals from corners last season.
