  • Hi Everyone!
This tutorial is going to show you how to crochet the Large Sunburst Triangle! This is a super handy motif needed to complete the edges of shawls, blankets (where squares have been used on the diagonal) and can be used in garments around armpits and necklines!
This specific tutorial is meant to accompany the Island Time Shawl which can be found for free on my website here:
    www.nautikrallcrochet.com/blo...
I used Swish Bare in DK weight (from Knit Picks) for this tutorial with a 4.5mm hook.
    Happy crocheting!!

A good trick to stop the yarn from squeaking is to poke the hook into your hair & wiggle it about a bit... The oils in your hair will stop the annoying squeaks 😊.

I have never considered the possibility of yarn squeaking on the hook. And now I’m gonna totally notice. So thank you for that new sensory concern. 😣 But more importantly and totally heartfelt, I really appreciate your very clear instructions and tutorials. They’re clear enough for beginners and delightful enough for intermediates to enjoy as well. Your technique is enviable. Your join as you go methods are the bomb! Thank you so much for your excellent content!

At about 10:00 we chained 3 and made a puff stitch. So that ch 3 count as a dc. But at the end of the row we made after the last puff stitch a ch 1 and a dc. Then why didn't we make a ch 4 at the beginning?😊

You probably could if you were keen on joining twice as many half squares for some crazy reason (not discounting the effort, but it’s not an intuitive plan for a whole afghan). However, and someone correct me if I’m wrong, but it’s probably best for a project where you want to set a square on point (I.e. sunburst granny squares on a bias) in order to make a rectangular afghan or garment.
