vocals this tight live is just unheard of nowadays. Damn they sound good! Thanks for posting
I never get tired of this song. The guitar solo is out of this world.
The observation about these guys being good, well practiced/rehearsed and excellent on their instruments is all true. You can add this band to the names of similar quality groups from back then.....Hall/Oates, Ambrosia, Little River Band, etc. These dudes were as good as anyone of that era.....just a real tight groove, and they played their songs just like the original recording.....not a note or beat missing.....kudos.
I agree! Those guys had a perfect groove!! They’re each extremely talented..
They dropped it down half a step but still its cool.
Holy crap you guys still sound amazing! One of the most under rated bands of the 70's.
Such an underrated band....these guys created such beautiful music back in the day, soulful, resonating harmonies, and sweet guitar riffs humming off that strat, man these guys can rock. I'm so grateful for having grown up in that era.
Hey Yanuri
.They kind of remind me of Average White Band they were blue eyes rhythm Rock soul band too and that sound will definitely along this genre of music 📻 🎶🎸🎵 🥁
I saw these guys when they opened for the Doobie Brothers. They were awesome and the Doobs gave them high praise. What a great time to grow up!!! Such great music musicians and great times
That drummer earns every dime he's getting paid!
Incredible musicians and vocalists.. Those intricate guitar licks while singing lead, outstanding!
You're clearly not a guitarist. There is nothing intricate about them
They still sound great 👍
Holy shit these boys are tight.......absolutely superb jam. Thanks for posting this gem
Buckwheat Macgyver ..all studio musicians..👍
I love your descriptive words!
Ikr
Always like them...a bit underrated imho
Like ah fine wine, just keep get n' betta !!!!
Even as a kid, when I heard that song on the radio, I thought the end begged for a jam session... This is why you go to a concert. That jam was fantastic. That drum solo was sizzling. I would like to have heard more guitar but Mr. Jenkins thought everyone else deserved a chance to shine, even the audience. FIRST RATE!
Still sound good after all these years!
❤️ loves those 1970s music especially this song 🎵
Can’t get enough of these guys, so quality musicianship! Awesome!!!🎶
Awesome sound Pablo Cruise I love your music!
Ya got great taste Sue. Ever listen to Poco, their pretty good also:
"Heart Of The Night"

Got my vote another great 1970s music 🎶 group ❤️ this song
They played at Rancho Nicasio in Marin last Sunday….. timeless ,relevant, honest, real, the best. Founding drummer Steve Price sat in on 3 classic Pablo Cruise songs. Man it felt good to be alive !
That guitar solo! Amazing. It ranks up there with Larry Carlton's Kid Charlemagne guitar solo (Steely dan).
Totally agree! So tasty.
Always loved DJ. He kills it. I remember sitting for hours in my room trying to work out that solo.
@@jeremyhelm2833 Another epic guitar solo worth checking out in the "tasty" category is the one in Pat Benatar's "Precious Time". It's a song from the early 80's and Neil Geraldo delivers one of the most creative, tasty, and atmospheric guitar solos halfway through the song. The tempo is measured which sets the stage for a perfect blend of tone and unbelievable phrasing.
some tasty licks happening there 👍🏻✌️🎧😎
Whoa! Not so fast... great solo on record but no, not “ranks up there with Kid Charlemagne”. Please ...
The original bass player and one of the singers was from my home town of Greenville , Ms. and I played in a band with him when we were kids. I was his drummer. He wrote and Produced A Place in The Sun. Sang Atlanta June. He was a great musician. He Passed away with Kidney failure. The one and Only Bud Cockrell. He left this band to play with his wife Cockrell and Santos. I always thought it was a big Mistake, but I am sure Pablo Cruise knew how Bud was. It was always that way or the Hiway. When we were kids he slipped and fell off the diving board at the city pool and broke his front teeth out. he always said to us ,when I get big and famous I am going to get me some new teeth. On Pablos first album he had a big Smile with new teeth. I will always love and Miss you bud!
+ken ware
Dude, great story! I was so sad when Bud left the band after A Place In The Sun.
Sad to hear he is gone now. Thanks for the info..
You are Welcome! I have several songs that I recorded before Bud left us! I have a 24 track studio and bud wrote several songs there just sitting around! He was great with words! Just give him a hook line and he could go from there!
So Right ON! My Man!
Thanks for the story! that's wonderful!
Wow, I grew up in Memphis, but had no idea some of these guys were nearby. Their sound is so unique, so I would have expected them to be from California and New England instead.
Great song! Great band! Amazing live performance!
This is so badass: great harmonies...catchy chorus...top notch musicianship...pure talent and artistry.
Not many bands can sound as good live, as in the studio, but these guys pull it off.
This is one of those bands that I always forget just how musically talented they are/were. They remind me somewhat of Ambrosia, the Doobies, and Hall & Oates (though I'm a much bigger, well really, MASSIVE Hall & Oates fan!) in how they wrote some really solid blue-eyed soul songs with silky smooth vocals right up there with the "real" soul bands like The Temptations and The O-Jays. If you didn't know that these were white guys upon first hearing this song, you wouldn't know that they weren't one of the legendary R&B/soul male vocal-driven bands from the late 60s/early 70s.
The whole "Yacht Rock" thing pokes gentle fun at this whole genre, but it also really pays heed to the amazing production values and pure musical chops all of those early 70s soft rock/jazz fusion/blue-eyed soul bands had going on. There's a reason that these songs endure, and that I can remember every lyric and guitar riff 40 years later.
P.C. Nailed this Song Live.
They should have toured with the AVERAGE WHITE BAND, Philly? Detroit?? Nope- SCOTLAND. Think about it Pre Christian Scotland was the only country Rome said "No Thanks" as the Scots met them Naked in their Druid Wildness- so there is some white soul in them low anmd highlands-
Hadn’t heard this years, they kicked ass!
Seen them live in Memphis back in day!
Real talent!!
They sound just as good as they did back in the day!!
Hi I'm that crazy lady from San Mateo County California 2019 from the front row who COULD NOT SIT STILL during your show. Security was harsh to me but when Pablo Cruise saw what was happening you all asked for a "round of applause for our dancers in the front row" and everybody cheered. . . even the security guard had to crack a smile at that one. . .THANK YOU guys for having my back
. . .LOVE will ALWAYS find a way!!
Lanajean, I hated paying for seat, we never used it. If the band was great like this, we never sat down, and most of the people around us started getting into it. Singing and dancin', it was great.😎😎😎
i'm sitting in front of my computer and i can't sit still. i can't imagine being there and not getting up to groove.
I can not express to anyone out there how much I love this song.So perfect in It's own way.
This actually happened to me ten years after this hit/: I was single when I first heard this, just a kid @19/: she left me so I found someone else, now together since 1989. That's what I did when she said goodbye.
Highly technical guitar, and they still have great voices. Miss the old days!
One of my top 10 guitar solos of all time. The one he (David Jenkins) did in "Love Will Find A Way" wasn't too shabby either.
first saw and heard Pablo Cruise in Hawaii at the Blaisdell Arena Aug. 25th 1978. Unforgettable concert.....always a positive message with uplifting spirit. The vocals always clear , easy on the ears..Love and listen to frequently....EL Verano one of my all time instrumental favorites!! The piano playing outstanding. Hope to see u again , but now here in Florida.
Cool bass line.
You can see these boys still have it.bands today ,take out a piece of paper and a pen it's time for you all to take notes!
My high school days is what this music represents to me.... good times, great music!
Ditto and Amen.
I was coming of age be in 78-79! 😊
I'm speechless, this is awesome and I so wish I was there! where was this I want to go next time! Jenkins, Lerios and Price sound great as 1976. The new bass player is an awesome addition!!!! I think Bud would have approved! Having been in the music business my entire life based out of Santa Barbara and yet living so close to Corrie and never worked together again since the California tour. Dave your voice is there and Steve holding down the bottom end with the bass player. I got a find a way to see you all again. I think it was Fresno, China Peak ski resort, Mountain Aire Festival, SanJose, LA Tahoe San Francisco, I don't think we did Day on the Green that year. I was with SOS Sound on Stage then but the 80's got in the way!
Great to hear and see you guys, now next is in person so I can do what I never did and that is be a googlie eyed fan!
This song reminds me when Elvis Presley died July/ August of 1977. I forgot all about this song until I heard it on the radio few days back and I immediately thought of Elvis's death.
Wow! Always loved this band and song. Awesome to see how insane they still sound! The guitar solo in this song has always been one of my favorites! Thanks for posting this!
holy smokes! Didn't realize these guys were such amazing all around musicians! Legit top notch on their instruments as well as baller vocals!
I loved Pablo Cruise's sound when I first heard them in the late 70s when I was going to school in the late 70s in the Central California Coast. Fast forward to the early 2000s when I was saw them live in a small, intimate Saturday afternoon summer concert at Galante Vineyards in the Monterey County coastal hills. Awesome time, great sound and took time afterwards to meet up with the band members, all of them very personable and friendly. It was obvious they were happy to be there and were having a great time themselves...
They came to my high school in Ca. 1974..they were great then and now !
Wish I could go back to 1977.
......can I join ya, I'm burned out on 2020
Real Music !!
Late 1990s I got to go back stage and hang out with the band. I watched from the back. It’s was pretty cool!
Beautifully constructed, produced and preformed song. Listen to all those themes 👏
one of the best drummers in the industry and he packed in and went into industry...what a shame..and Mr Cruise exceptional
i can't believe this is now,wow sounds like in the 70's,he ages nice too.
Bands today,go away ! Bring back Pablo cruise for all of us today! I think I made a rhyme!
What a performance... well knitted.. !!!
wow!!!! These guys sound great after all these great years... I saw them back in 1980 at the Ontario Place Forum.
I think this is one of the most talented 4 piece band's of all time.
Not the original lineup but still fantastic. Ever see the movie “That Thing You Do?” (fantastic movie btw, co written & directed by Tom Hanks) The bass player, Larry Antonino, played a small part as Scott Pell, (a replacement bass player for the band portrayed in the movie.)
Agreed !! 👍👍👍👍👍
Thomas Fellows There are 3 originals here.. The only one that is not original is Antinino the bass player.. The other 3 are the real deal 😎
This song and love will find away brings back my child hood memories in Hawaii where I first heard Pablo Cruise. Still love them. This is a fantastic live version. I've never seen them perform so this you tube vid is great
Brings back such memories, the year I turned 21. WOW
The harmonies are absolutely amazing!!!🙂👍 The words to the song, truthful!😒🙄😔😪
April, 17 of 2024 and enjoying the hell out of this song.
Miss those days miss late. 70s disco was class of. 1980 kids don’t. Under stand what good music was and the. Good times were.
great tune to remember, good times 77.
Outstanding…sounds as good as ever
Damn forgot about this song. Title threw me off for a minute than I heard the intro. Totally kick ass song. The 70s and 80s were the best musically and life wise. So glad I got to experience it👍😎🐶
There's a Early Chicago Influence With The Harmonies.....Which Is a Good Thing!🤔👌
Oh What a groove this band has going. Fantastic musicians and Steve can sang !!!!!!
Such a solid groove. This band was so tight. I still have the cassette with this on it and it still plays perfectly.
Bring it boys love this jam
I am and always will be a BOSTON BOY !!! But...... I was recently in ' MALIBU ".....Laying on
the beach... catching some rays. I was listening to the one and only " PABLO CRUISE "
I felt like i was back in 1977........ CAN YOU DIG IT !!!!
John Mildner I can dig it man!
And that's how real talented musicians do it!
Thank you, Mark Blake!
Love them!! Remember seeing them at the Brushfork National Guard Armory back in 1981 ~ they still sound great!!!
+82sweetheart Brushfork? Brushfork Bluefield Mercer county?
tauras88d
Yes.
+82sweetheart Greetings home girl Princeton boy here:) I was at that Brushfork show that year and Pablo totally rock it so sweet, I also played Basketball there. :) Smiles :)
tauras88d
It was a great show!! : )
When I was a kid I thought Pablo Cruise sang every song on the radio.
Wow. Just killer all around. And the bass is bad ass too.
I can’t get enough,love it,thank you 💪💪💪👏😊
Wow...super tight these guys are "live." The sound is just great and that bass is wicked happening...the break at 2:18-2:22....awesome!
@lxlandia
"that bass is wicked happening...the break at 2:18-2:22"
That bass player's uncanny rendition of (the late) Bud Cockrells' vocal parts 1:31-1:39 is awesome as well!
I love the most this song that I have to Play It Again
old guys rule !!!!
I loved two of their albums and killed my cassettes (Worlds Away and A Place in the Sun). It's sad that Bud Cockrell didn't make it to their reunion. But the new bassist is more than capable, and fills his shoes comfortably.
Dave Jenkins is an incredible and under-rated guitarist.
This is their signature song.
And the teenage answer my friends and I always said, sotto voce, was "Get blue balls!"
Still the best, in all these years.
Still one kick ass Band!
Man, these guys are amazing!
I love how he keeps true to the guitar playing yet it feels so improv at the same time.
I’ve lived this song since I was a kid. The level of musicianship and songwriting were much higher than in typical 70s rock.
Ooh Yeah... Motivational speech of the year got me all psyched up... Aweseeeeeeeem. Thanx for sharing.
nailed that solo-- awesome i had all their albums
well done fellas!
Had a great time with Steve Price at Martinsville Speedway this pasty weekend and he is a super, super nice guy. Trying to help get these guys on the East Coast more.
High School Music ...41 years ago ...still standing ... Groove to the Bone
GTTB Fosho
WONDERFUL! Simply wonderful! Such clear vocals! Thanks for posting this!!
Good stuff...I was in high school when Pablo came on the scene. We used to say, "Let's Pab" Paub...when we were going to leave the vicinity/party...instead of "cruise".
God this brings back so many memories of hanging out in high school. I always said that Pablo Cruise was very under rated at that time in the 70's. I was a teen and for the most part i was into Funk, Soul and R&B, and i mean heavily into those genre's at the time. I'm African american and i grew up in Orange county, California, and went to a predominantly white school in the city of Irvine, California. So obviously most of my high school friends were white. One day i was over a friends house, on a weekend, just hanging out listening to music in his room. I brought some albums over because he asked me to. He wanted to expand his knowledge and appreciation of different types of genres. We both were in band class together on wind instruments. (trumpet) He was heavily into classic rock and soft rock and the blues. I played him some "Al Green, Isley Brothers, Earth Wind and Fire, Parliament Funkadelic (feat. George Clinton), The Commodores, Barry White, Teddy Pendergrass, George Benson and a host of other soul singers and bands. He fell in love with Al Green, and Teddy P. and Barry W. He said their voices were amazing. All through the years we've stayed in contact and he still thanks me for introducing him to Al Green the most. He has turned his kids on to Al and they have had a broad appreciation for different kinds of music and artist, thanks to me, he tells me. Well that day in his room. He played me some Al Stewart (Year of the Cat) album. He also played me some Fleetwood Mac, Linda Ronstadt, Supertramp, Robin Trower, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Eagles, Boston, Foreigner, Kansas and a host of others out at that time. But one album he played for me was by PABLO CRUISE, and this one section of this song @ 1:42 , the guitar part, got me hooked on PABLO CRUISE and their sound. I went out and bought Fleetwood Mac and Pablo Cruise. lol Now keep in mind my cousins were heavily into soul music and thought WTF are you doing listening to that "white boy shit", (theirs words not mind) and being black. hahahaha Oh well! Well i didn't give one rats ass about what they thought. When i heard Pablo Cruises music, it made me happy and feel good and i could relate to what they were talking about, (as i was falling in love with a girl from high school in band class a the time) lol, But also along with that killer guitar solo. That guitar part inspired me to take up guitar in high school. Most Soul and R&B and Funk music didn't have guitars highlighted for solo's. So thank you Pablo Cruise and to my friend/brother for life from high school for introducing me to a whole new world of music in the 70's, that is appreciated heavily by me, to this very day, no matter the genre. Good stuff indeed Pablo Cruise. You guys still have it.
Thanks for the upload.
Insane talent...
This is quite amazing. I've listened to a lot of music from bands of this era performing live in recent concerts, and was almost embarrassed to listen to some of the old geezers (like myself) perform. But these guys are amazing. They've still got it. As a matter of fact, I'd say they've even gotten better (if that's possible). So "in the pocket", even more skilled on their instruments, and even their voices have gotten BETTER. They can still hit the notes they used to hit when they were young, but now with even more precision and character. I'm blown away. And they look like they still have the joy of music and performing. My guess is they've lived pretty decent lives and didn't burn their lives out on drugs like many others have. Great unique music.
I miss the Seventies. I remember the high inflation, unemployment, gas shortages. Times were tough for many, but you had faith that things would get better. Pablo Cruise's music was uplifting, feel good jam. Fast forward to today and I don't have the same optimism, but I'll still listen to the bands who's music lifts my spirits.
Absolutely my most favorite song ever.
Thank you for blessing us with this beauty!!
Great at playing and singing at the same time, great band
Joseph Mizzi p
Wow, such talent, and a great great song. Thx for sharing.
I'm a late comer to Pablo's music. Damn he's good.
Great song! Wow, do I miss the 70's!
I saw them last night in Oshkosh, WI. Still Kickin' Butt!!! Excellent show guys!
Chelsea Vocational High School in New York City phenomenal days of the late 70’s SoHo was a great place in those days
EAT YOUR HEART OUT KIDS! MAYBE NOW YOU'LL UNDERSTAND WHY WE DON"T CARE MUCH FOR YOUR STUFF. Signed The Baby Boomers.
+Douglas KM Galanti These kids today can't process notes and chords. It's sad, really...
Amen my Man, they revered bk to the simple chored structure of late fiftys early 60's pop. Bummer!
you put it in the very right way...aint no music like this...
All of this sound out of four pieces!
Yep, and they actually played instruments. Miss the days of true talent.
Seen them in buffalo n.y. in the 70s or 80s several times. Very tight and an amazing sound. High then high now great times and memories, even married my high school sweetheart, who seen them with me. Still going strong
SWEET! That drummer's a beast! Love it, thanx
With the addition of the awesome bass player Larry Antonino( plays with so many wonderful artist)... fits in wonderfully with the vocals, they are still churning out their beautiful brand of music..
They look and sound great~!
Most played band for a LONG TIME.
Love their voices, theyre so talented!❤
Great job Marc Blake crystal clear.
