Tornadoes are a truly breathtaking sight in nature.
While they can be magnificent to watch from a distance, if you are caught in one, it could be a life changing experience.
Today we are going to take a look at 10 of the craziest Tornado video's ever recorded.
The USA has the most Tornadoes on earth by a significant amount.
It is not widely known however, that other continents also experience significant tornadoes.
We have a variety of location's in this video in which tornadoes were filmed..from Asia, to Europe, To the United States.
The majority of these video's were filmed on cell phone's, and uploaded to social media.
If the phone is held upright it causes it to film in portrait mode, which leaves black bars or blurred edges on the video.
To keep the integrity of the clips we will leave them unedited.
We don't ever recommend that you put yourself in harm's way to film a tornado, however if the opportunity ever present's itself, please turn the phone on it's side and film in landscape mode.
It is our hope by sharing these video's, you will learn some lessons of what to expect in a tornado, and some action's you might want to avoid to keep you, and your family safe.
Make sure to share it with your friends and family members also.
Sit back, grab a snack and a drink, and enjoy 10 of the craziest tornado videos ever recorded.

What was your favorite clip in this video? 😱
Tuscaloosa clips for me, seeing the vortex's spinning around the main circulation was remarkable
None , all those clips have already been shown a hundred times or more on RUclips.
@@Cokercole Doesn't mean you still cant enjoy them? You must be fun at parties
The Jarral tornado. Dead man walking. It should have been in there.
The Tuscaloosa tornado video where it goes right over the shopping mall is probably the best tornado footage ever
"we dont EVER recommend that you that you put yourself in harm's way to film a tornado, HOWEVER.... if the opportunity ever presents itself, please turn the phone on its side and film in landscape mode" hahahhahahahahha
Right......😂
Lovely disclaimer! That's a first! "We appreciate your life threatening situations but, could you like, record it properly??"
😬
"If you're going to be an idiot, at least be an idiot who got good video." 😂
LOLOLOL! 🤣
Ya that was hilarious.
It's coming right for me!
"oh no a tornado... may as well sit here and watch to see if it turns"
I was yelling at the screen. "Keep going! Move forward you numb nuts!"
🤣🤣🤣@@DragonicArchitect
Really, you don't know what to do??? How about getting out of harm's way? That just might be a great idea. Here's.......your sign.
That dude pissed me off… once he stop & realized it was coming right at him he could’ve hit the gas like hell or turned around & hit the gas
The clip of Clem Schultz is one of the best tornado videos of all time, but sad because his wife passed away in that incident also
Yeah second I saw it my mind went, wait I recognise, oh no.
Yeah, I came to the comments to say basically the same thing. It takes my breath away every time, especially that last second or two before it goes black. Absolutely terrifying. The first time I watched it I was surprised he survived, then learned his wife did not, and that makes it even more chilling.
@@katieskarletteAbsolutely horrific all the way around 😢😢😢😢
The neighbor, his wife's best friend, also died in the Fairdale tornado. (Jan Griffiths).
Probably the most famous too. It is definitely the scariest.
Lol! The first content creator I've ever heard call out people filming in portrait mode.... you out there doing the Lords Work!
I was thinking the SAMEE exact thing 💪🏾👀😂🔥 I was like " yes thank you for that awesome unexpected disclaimer" lol
🙌🙌
Cracking up😂😂😂
The rule of thumb is when actively chasing a tornado is if it looks like it’s not moving or has the appearance of it swirling still you can bet on your life that it’s coming straight at you.
What do you mean “the appearance of swirling” bruh it’s a tornado. A spinning column. Quite literally.
That's absolutely not true..if it looks like it's not moving it's 100% going away from you and you should start recording immediately
@@smartfck4 i can confirm i learned the hard way. Moved to Kansas from Seattle. Didn’t know a lick. I was watching thought it was still. The neighbors house two houses down evaporated so we ran in our basement storm shelter.
It was our second month there.
I ick everytime I read this comment under tornado videos. We get it.
Or it could be moving away from you. In either case, sitting in the car is not smart, and neither is going under the bridge.
That dude in the truck parked under the bridge is beyond lucky. 😮
The Clem Schultz clip has to be one of the greatest tornado videos of all time
"The safest place in a tornado is the basement!" Not always. RIP Mrs. Schultz.
yep mine too I live 30 miles south and it is spring
@@SevereEAS he’s not in the basement so I don’t see how you came to that conclusion
@@ladybeebuilder4154his wife was, she died
We got cows...Oops ! Wrong clip
Clem Schultz’s footage is extraordinary and heartbreaking. The elderly gentleman believed he was filming his certain death, and wanted to leave a record for record for posterity. Amazing.y Clem survived, but sadly his wife downstairs did nit
Also unfortunately his neighbor, the one who lived in the house in the video that wad destroyed right before it hit him, also died. This was a good friend of his and they were the only 2 deaths of the tornado.
@@CubeThing 😥
That dude in the truck was so calm. And lucky
His number was definitely not up.
He was calm because he was so stupid. No attempt to get out of the way just sat there. He is from the sheep gene pool. OMG
I dont care if you are a robot . Thank you for bringing up the landscape mode
The voice is real, from our friend David over at @drjcproductions
@@Weather-Report I made that comment early , kudos to David
The guy who decided to wait and just hangout under the overpass, had more than enough time to escape, but wasted his time, unwisely (choosing to narrate and record instead)… He could’ve been sucked out from under there-
Could have just kept driving…
Tuscaloosa tornado looked wild
Great collection.
Ok, what in the HELL was the guy in #8 thinking?!? The amount of luck this fool had in that moment is absolutely mindblowing
Right! He definitely showed that this ain't his cup of tea!!!
Exactly what I said in a comment, why would you just sit there and watch it come over you? I'd have that truck driving through ditches and people's yards to get away from an approaching tornado. But to just sit there..... He did manage to grab some great footage though....
Somebody's guardian angel was working overtime.
What the hell were the 1st people doing? Let me go look down the street with a kid
This is some of the most phenomenal footage ive ever seen. Thanks
3:15 HOW MANY TIMES DO PEOPLE NEED TO BE TOLD?!?! DONT GO UNDER OVERPASSES / BRIDGES!!!!!!
Honestly there must be something with the road network we can't see, because I'm confused why he couldn't just turn around. Does the road loop back around past the overpass, or something?
He also said he didn't know what to do. Most of people not used to tornados act that stupid. I have family I Europe they were always saying or laughing about us being exaggerating, one-time they visited us and we had an ef2 in Michigan. They were panicking so bad that it was funny and sad at the same time. When it passed they were like. This has to be one of the worst. When I told them that was a rather small tornado, they couldn't believe it. Ignorance kills people.
@@emmli2885 he was just an idiot
That's our fault. Tornado in 1991 filmed a news crew under an overpass. It worked for them only because the overpass was old and built different.
@@sianne79The twister passed to the side of the bridge instead of over, that helped as well.
It's so creepy that some these tornados on here were hard to see. Reminds me of when I used to live in Fort Valley, Georgia, USA. I literally went through one without knowing until I was inside it. There was a car in front of me that started to sway and I got irritated at them. I thought they were drunk or on their phone. Before that a power line went out. I was just thinking it's just a bad storm. Like, 'Wow...stormy. Enough to break off the power line.' Well, I also had my music turned up so I couldn't hear the siren that was alerting us to it. Well, soon enough I was in it. It sounded like going through a car wash and the buffers are rubbing up against you. I was like, 'Oh...that's why.' It's funny now because I remember once I got home my Mama was coming out of the house. She asked me why I was there. "Didn't you hear the siren?!' No ma'am, I did not. lol!! I was lucky that one was a small once. But you literally could not see it. At all. It's nuts. No rain. Not much wind. Then boom. Here it comes.
Thank you for having tornadoes in your video.
If you drive through a tornado in a normal car and SURVIVE, you are a *LEGEND*
I may have done that in a small pickup. Weather was already bad, then visibility dropped to near zero and it was a fight to stay on the road. After a few seconds the wind was coming from the other way. I noped out of there and didn't look back. I didn't really think it was a tornado until years later when dash cam videos of direct hits by tornados started showing up online.
Guess I’m an unintentional legend. I was driving home with my sister and my best friend, so the three of us were in a 1992 Honda Civic DX. We barely escaped the 4 hour storm & microburst (possible tornado) at the amusement park we were visiting, I was driving home on the interstate the visibility goes from bad to non existent (9 at night in the summer). Then we are seeing random flying objects flying around, patio furniture, and a wooden 2x4 that almost went through my windshield. When we got to my house I found out we drove through a tornado
Or just lucky
Or stupid
Under a bridge, not a good idea during a tornado.
It work for him so.
@@odonvargas9527just bc it worked once doesn't mean it will always work under a bridge is never a good idea
@@sweetwolfsteve5583it was a pretty good idea for him since hes alive
@@odonvargas9527If it went over him it would of not
@@agibitableif that tornado had actually hit him he would have died 100%.
It's real bad when trees are falling over and the actual funnel cloud is still in the distance.
The Tuscaloosa tornado looks down right wicked! But also has an ethereal other worldly beauty to it!
It had weird tentacles. I remember seeing it in real time on TV. The meteorologist went silent for several seconds. He knew people were dying and they were.
It’s was a bad time for a lot of families. I was pregnant with my first baby that April. And I lived like 45 minutes away
The last one will always be the #1 of all-time, mainly because of where he's situated in the house and the fact he stays absolutely still and quiet. It's beyond ballsy, this guy either had a death wish or he's not all there.
He'd gone upstairs to get I think flashlights or lanterns, if I remember correctly, and wanted to record a bit of it since it was thought to have a path nowhere near his home. By the time he noticed it was coming right at him, realized he was not going to be fast enough in his old age to make it back downstairs to the basement before it hit, so just decided to keep recording. It was so tragic, as his wife died downstairs.
This video should be titled, “people who almost died filming a tornado” because holy fucking shit
Great videos, thank you
Thank you for the lovely comment friend
My family lived thru the April 3rd. 🌪️ in Guin AL. 23 others weren't so fortunate. My dad and i were fishing when the 🌪️ came thru Hamilton and Hackleburg, AL. Many perished.....
If I've learned one thing from watching Twister as a kid over and over again, its that you don't sit still and wait for the tornado to maybe hit you, you do what Bill does in the film and watch what the tornado does and then you put the pedal to the metal and get off that road!
BTW the checia is 'Czechia' im from czech
During the April 29, 2022 tornado (Andover KS) I had a surreal experience. I'd already been through the Andover tornado in 1991 (F-5) and ever since, the town tornado sirens have been tested every single Monday, so that people would never be caught off guard by a failed warning system. Except when you listen to those things for 30 years, they get kind of..............normalized. So there I am, not paying attention at all and the sirens are going off and going off and going off and I didn't even NOTICE for like five minutes, finally got up in annoyance and went to check the window to see why the goddamn sirens were STILL going o----oh, okay. Time to go.
I was booking it across the parking lot wearing no shoes and in my PJs with a Very Unhappy cat stuffed in a pillowcase when I came upon this group of Dads just standing in the parking lot, watching this thing and filming it with their cell phones (IT WAS ACROSS THE STREET) and just about blew a gasket. Why are people such idiots when it comes to filming these? Do they just get so mesmerized they don't see the danger until they've been picked up by 200+ mph murderwinds and thrown a couple of miles down the road?? It's a little too late at that time....
Good footage throughout!
In that first clip, why did those people walk outside into it? Did they not think it was a big deal ? Yikes, God protected them.
They didn’t show the whole video. They pulled up in their car and tried to get into a building, but it was locked. They had two children with them. They crouched down by the fence and the tornado blew the car right behind them. It almost squished them, but actually it protected them from the worst of the winds and debris.
Also they’re Oklahomans. What do you expect them to do.
No they protected themselves by taking cover
guy in Illinois who sits there calmly and patiently has to be the best person to have around if you're freaking out because he remains so calm! LOL
That’s just how we do things in Illinois. The calm part, not exactly just hanging out with Nadoes
If you are ever on an Africa safari recording your trip and get attacked by a pack of hyenas, then please be sure to record in landscape mode.
😆🤣😂😜
7:24 those are amazing doors! The soundproofing if top notch!
the wind blowing on the microphone makes it seem more extreme than it actually is,
I remember when I looked out my family's huge picture window in the living room when I was a kid and looked across the road and the field across the street was a massive tornado 🌪️ it was one of the most terrifying things I've ever experienced in my life......... Also much respect to the guy that kept his cool in a crazy situation like that
Ef 4 The truck vid from Illinois. Wow just Wow. ty.🎉
I was 6 years old when I experienced my first tornado. In the living room at a friend's place and mom was in the kitchen doing dishes with her youngest in a carry seat. She was sucked out the kitchen window. The baby wasn't touched. Now, 54 years later, I still remember it like it was yesterday. The fury and raw power of a tornado can shoot a toothpick THROUGH a one inch steel plate. A tornado can change direction and pick up crazy amounts of speed in the blink of an eye. Don't risk your life for filming an 'awesome shot.' It's just plain stupid.
Rochdale clip genuinely some of the best footage ever
The power displayed in these clips is off the charts!🙄
The Moore F5. The guy stood on the front porch and NEVER said a word. A class act indeed.
I still love how his wife in the background shouted at one point, “are you f*cking crazy!?!?!” She’s practically drowned out by the tornado.
@@rebeckylee157 LMAO!! I didn't even hear her!! He could have answered, "No, I have balls of steel and super-intelligence which allows me to measure the exact distance from the porch to said F5 tornado and render the % of safety for me to stand here and decide to stay or get the hell out of there!!"
That guy was standing there thinking to himself as his wife was yelling at him….”Do you know how many likes and views this is going to get?!? We are about to get paid!”
That one guy in Tuscaloosa said Chinga Ta Madre 😂😂😂😂
4:10 what a great intercept
4:28 The tornado was literally in the lane next to him!
Last one is super crazy how the hell did that tornado get that dark of the sky
Like a monster. Arms and everything. SCARY SCARY STUFF MAN. Great footage. Pray for the people. 😢
A couple things I don’t see mentioned by anyone in the comments:
1) avoid under bridges or overpasses
2) if a tornado doesn’t appear to be moving it’s coming right at you
💯
1st one was wild
Wow 😳
Great idea bud. To the guy that watch that monster almost roll him
Old Clem sure knows how to go viral.
3:13 One of the worst things to do during a tornado is take shelter under a bridge as the wind is amplified by the small space. With the added bonus of flying debris which can and will injure or kill you.
Some absolutely incredible footage in this, our earth is such an amazing place 🙏
amazing vid 😁👍
0:46 You have 3 people in a row there who are sitting in their cars just waiting to be hit by Tornadoes...no wonder there are so many injuries..
Right! And also, so many people standing in their windows or front porches, watching it, as it comes straight towards them…
@@apriljohnson421 The thing is as dangerous as it is it is also intriguing. Most people have never seen one before. As scared as they may be, as much as they know they need to take cover, they are still captivated and they want to look at it. That's why you'll see these videos where people are filming it and seem almost as if they are frozen in place until it gets really close and they realize this thing ,might kill them at which point they finally run for cover.
what are they supposed to do bro 😭
Ayy Silvia!😇
Poor Animals
THANK YOU FOR TELLING PEOPLE TO USE LANDSCAPE MODE! Portrait mode drives me nuts. People were doing landscape more-until TikTok came along and made periscope in vogue again-damnit.
So awesome 😊
the fairdale clip where the tornado literally passes directly infront of him and it went from being a clear distance away to 30 seconds later...if he had stayed on that road trying to out drive it...he would've been too done. insane and made the right call thankfully..not knowing wtf to do either and getting that close ..soo wild!
18:48 is that a person?😮
Maybe a cow? It looks like something with a tarp on it too.
It's as impressive as a scene from a movie.
The 10th one was particularly educational and insightful. The screen just goes black and stays that way.
Good advice. When recording the landscape, shoot in landscape mode.
I remember the 72 world series tornado in Oakland California A's vs Reds. It came out the hills and hit the wood factory 100 ft from my house It headed for my house after munching two by fours and tore a 21 inch diameter hole in the roof. Yes California gets tornados and hurricanes. It was 200 feet tall and it was a Ef .25 to a Ef 1
Remember if it looks like it's not moving it's more than likely coming right at you.
I love how you casually throw shade at people filming with the phone upright...it pisses me off so bad 😂
Dude was calm as hell
I literally lived through #6 in the neighborhood next to that guy filming. We were HORRIFIED at that thing’s size and speed. We had no connection to the outside world before it hit and relied on sight. Our weather radio was dead 😭. Oh and the hail took out one of our windows but otherwise the house was fine. The trailer park down the road unfortunately took a direct hit.
China gets some pretty intense tornadoes
China gets some powerful tornadoes, i never even knew
This was a laugh...... what the hell was the first clip ?
The whole video wasn’t shown. A family tried to get into a building but it was locked. The crouched down by the fence. A car was blown towards them and they were almost squished. But the car shielded them from the worst of the winds and debris.
Don’t go under bridges or overpasses, and get out of your car and get yourself into a ditch face down. It amazes me how people remain in their vehicles. Yikes.
What if there ain't no ditch to get into?
Amazing footage. This is the closest I ever want to be to one. They look like they just scour everything away in its path.
April 27 2011 was the worst day I've ever seen in Alabama . The intire half of of north And Central ala was under the gun all day long. In my 61 years nothing else compares
7:57 GET AWAY FROM THE WINDOWS!!!
Whoa
At 14:12, you can see how that rear inflow jet wreaks havoc.
omg thats so cool 😲
A few times that Moore Oklahoma and Norman got hit it broke my heart ❤️
I have been through 3 small tornadoes in direct hits over the years and even small ones are scary and always unexpected when they do. I have been through many hurricanes of all categories and rather deal with any hurricane over a tornado as a person always has advanced warnings from those and they are easy to escape from with that stated.
Wow that was scary i never been in a tornado hope all are well😮
wooooooooooooow 18:42 crazy
The man whom waited on the tornado to reach him as he sat under a bridge doesn't think too much. He had LOTS of time before he was struck by the wind and debris.
The car @01 sec's...at the VERY beginning of this video seen trying to drive past this INSANE SICK Tornadowas a suicidal attempt. Not sure what they were thinking...BUT I wouldn't want to be in the car with em!
Must have watched the movie Twister and figured if a Hollywood actor can outrun a tornado on foot he could in his car.😅
If you see a tornado and your trying to decide which way is going just know that 99% of all tornadoes travel generally from the southwest to northeast.
I remember the day of the tornado that came through in East limestone Alabama. It actually was not far for me, roughly about 30 minutes and it was a scary day to say the least. I remember being in school and we were in the hallways for about two hours, waiting to be picked up with a storm in the past I was eventually picked up and we ended up going to my dad’s and he got sunny and the sky got really clear and that was the calm before the Storm, safe to say by the end of the day our power was completely out and ended up going down south to Mississippi to visit my grandparents for the week because of how bad it was I remember seeing the gas station of cars trying to get gas we backed up like a mile. It was insane. There were a lot of tornadoes that day.
When I was younger living in the Midwest instead of the far east coast, seeing a tornado can even catch you by surprise I'm glad I lived in military housing because I'm sure if it was a newer place it'd be gone in seconds
we have all been there before good times 😀👍
18:41 OMG😮
The tornado in Tuscaloosa stayed on the ground for a long time and went through at least 2 to 3 cities, destroying everything in its path. The aftermath looked like someone dropped a bomb
It nearly killed my cousin. ❤
at 3:31, why doesn't punch the gas to 80 or 90 MPH, and get the hell out of there. Instead, he sits there for a full 2 or 3 minutes before the tornado hits. I don''t get it.
I will forever curse that "Get up under the girders!" video for making people think you're safe under an overpass.
It is human nature to seek shelter under the nearest structure, but more people die because they're under them, because they turn into absolute wind tunnels and just accelerate wind speeds and as a result, the velocity of the debris flying around.
Also, he just sat there watching. Was the film worth that much to him?
Smart thing would have been turn tail and get a much safer distance away once he was certain it was coming his way.
Did we just practically watch someone die on the last video 🫣
Surprisingly, the man behind the camera, who was upstairs, survived this. But sadly, his wife, who was in the basement, did not survive.
Dude waits for the tornado to hit him then acts like he's surprised.
I'm screaming that he told
People to turn the phone sideways to film a tornado. Nooo run bro run 😂😂😂😂😂just playing you did tell
People to be safe as well
A couple that could’ve made it in
- Washington Illinois 2013
- Parkersburg security camera 2008
Jarrell 1997
- Joplin 2011 also had a heap
Moore, Oklahoma in 2013 also has quite a bit of footage from storm chasers, local residents and media figures.
Edited to add that that tornado was featured in the video.
From Czech video: "hide your self!!!! Dont go there !!! , "ahhh Keep calm" :D
What about the EeF-5 Joplin Mo . 2011 163 people lost their lives, it ruined numerous families, we was forever changed that day ....😢
Yippee
