How many idiots die from recording tornadoes just a little too long?
Mila Atchison it’s ok to be near one it’s not gonna hurt you until the outer winds hit you
Idiots: OMG I see something that can kill us! Let’s go towards it to survive!
So remember kids, when you see a tornado, the thing to do is drive directly into it

I've lived in 5 states and have experienced many tornados, earthquakes, hurricanes, blizzards, and ice storms, and tornados are by far, the most terrifying.
@@bunny4ever62 agreed
@@bunny4ever62 but most earthquakes are below a 5.0 magnitude which is just mild shaking.
All types of tornados can level a house or fling a stone brick at 120 mph lmao.
EF5 tornados have been known to throw cars hundreds if not thousands of feet away, completely destroy brick houses, and have winds that scream at 270+ mph. Not to mention that EF5's are almost always at least 2 miles in diameter.
@@bunny4ever62 I'm still waiting for the big earthquake to hit California
@@bunny4ever62 sorry I meant that in a scared tone, it's been over decade that we've pretty much been waiting for. The uncertainty ☹.
@@bunny4ever62 it's cool 👍, I could see how the phrasing came off putting, anyways I hope that if it ever happens we all make it out okay.
How unnerving it must be when the lightning flash reveals a tornado in the dark!
I’m a truck driver, that’s been me 3 times this year. It’s dark out and can hear a wonderful tornado close by
Awesome
Imagine driving, dead of night, storming...All black except your headlights, and suddenly the lightning rips the sky and you see this big revolving vortex less than a mile away. That would make me crap myself
I’d shit myself 500 times and just give up, letting it take me at that point 😭

Rule for survival #1: If you see a tornado in the distance and it doesn't seem to be moving, turn your vehicle around and floor it! It's headed at you!!
I never thought of it that way but it makes perfect sense thank you
Actually, turn it 90° and floor it then.
You most definitely are not out speeding a tornado in your average car haha.

What’s scarier than a tornado 🌪 during the day; is a tornado at night 😱
Night becuase you most likely are asleep or you can’t see it
Looking at people who says they are beautiful
Experienced that when a Tornado hit Dallas, TX during the dark. Can't even see a thing if it weren't for the lightning.
Nah. It’s a tornado taking the kids, the bank account and the house. Karen, if you’re out there, I just want to see my kids again
At night because you can’t see it and you could be asleep
I have stood in the bathroom one night in Texas and listened to the shingles being sucked off by a tornado. Terrible, helpless feeling. Now I have a tornado shelter and love the peace of mind it provides.

When they build houses in the Midwest and tornado ally, they should put in underground shelters in the garage. I know there is a company that has them but they should do that for every home.
Why in the garage? Does the garage offer extra cover? A lot of houses in tornado prone areas don't have underground shelters because the soil isn't good enough (like Texas).
Why not just have concrete and rebar houses, and forget the wood in that area.
@@sylkelster more expensive to build and repair
@@esco5593 I am trying to figure that one out. Here in Florida it would be difficult because the water table is not far underground. Hence the reason we don’t have basements. So your going to have to explain how soil isn’t good enough unless you are talking about the water table as well.
@@chrissede2270 In the Texas plains the soil is very loose and I guess till-like, most basements would just collapse according to what I've heard. That's why we see tornadoes in Texas causing ground scouring even if they aren't very strong.

They are doing this so they can study tornados or there just dumb
Candy Life studying it with a probe
We have to learn more about them in order to better protect the public. Since the late 80 we only increased from a 1 minute lead time (announcing there’s a tornado so people get to safety) to a 15 minute lead time in 2019. And 15 minutes isn’t enough time for people to get to safety. To only increase 14 minutes in 30-40 years isn’t good. Tornados are still very mysterious. We don’t know why one storm produces a tornado, and why another exact storm doesn’t. Getting close and personal and getting data on them is the only way

Why do I have an obsession with tornados? Storms in general I’m obsessed with.
I have an obsession with tornados and lightning. Something about those things intrigue me.
Those late night tornadoes can get really spooky. In 98, me, an adjuster with a bag phone and a beeper, between 7pm and 1am, dodged about 20 of them while crossing 2 rural counties. No place was safe. I could see some when lightning or flash occurred. Really scary time to remember.

The most sinister force,so huge and powerful , just watching this video has my stomach in knots.l could never be a tornado chaser. I salute your bravery.
I experienced a huge tornado while at a ranch in Wyoming decades ago. I saw the approach and it was huge, but we were herded into a tornado cellar for safety. Even more strange, just before the birth of my daughter, my 9 month pregnant wife was getting into the passenger side of my 4-Runner when a small twister came down the street and headed right towards the 4-Runner. The pressure was too great for my wife to get into the vehicle, and the twister hovered over her for quite a while, perhaps 10 seconds or more, ripping the heavy open door off its hinges. My wife was unharmed and gave birth on schedule shortly thereafter. What makes this even more strange is that it happened in suburban Los Angeles. In all my years of living here, I have not heard of a twister in this locale before or since. We have insurance claim photos and related documents to prove this account. As a bottler, we sometimes referred to my daughter as Spinning Cloud.
