As a former NYU (Stern School of Business) student, it was great to see how the neighborhood looks now!! And thank Tom for narrating his wealth of knowledge and history of the area!! Great Job!
Lo siento, pero no tiene conocimiento del área, no indico el lugar donde quedaba el famoso nigth club de salsa de los 60's y 70's llamado the village gate, alli tocaron las grandes orquestas de la Salsa de Nueva York.
Lovely walk down memory lane! I worked and lived in this area many years ago. (NYU Law School) I absolutely loved living and working in GV. Thank you! Enjoy your walk and keep safe!
the attitude in the people has gotten a bit more pessimistic too.. much angrier than I ever recall it being in the past decade or so. I'm confident it can pass, but rough seas are here and rough seas lie ahead.
@@SIl_Ae of course after the 2008 financial crisis everything is getting worse and that reflects on people's attitude too. And now a pandemic...how ''lucky" are we...
@@bigmacdaddy1234 Not true I dont have the big cash and i live in New York City all 60s years and I'll not homeless. Rent wasn't high like it is today, so i was lucky to get my apt years ago and still live in my places for 40 years.
You almost passed the second childhood toy store would have love to see that again. Always bought my Takara Microman toys from there. An elderly gentleman owned the store he was always so nice to me and customers loved him and his toy store. It always sit at the window in the back of his cash register where he had a beautiful display of toys and wooden horse 🐎
you two are so photogenic! the thumbnails with you both smiling into the camera are awesome! I always look forward to the videos you do with Tom, AK! :)
..i'm crying.....my hang out in the mid 60's..played in a lot of those below the sidewalk music clubs that used to line McDougald Street...passed the hat around....ate at the NYU Cafeteria....hung out outside The Bitter End on Bleecker Street.( that's were the Heavies used to play ).....used to walk down E.Houston aroun' 2 - 3 AM..heading towards my crash pad on Ridge St. quite a WALK...NEVER GOT HASSLED....winter of 1967.....SO much FUN..!!
Thanks for the shout out on Perry St ! My old hood the carriage house @ Greenwich Street sold my apt in 2006 Highest sale yet! Crazy! But good times years ago! Cheers!
Loving all the history and story telling as you walk Greewich Village. "Little Women" writer, Dr. who discovered Polio cure to Eleanor Roosevelt and so many more, awesome.
St. Luke's Church has a grade school behind it. I went there in the early 70's. Very cool so see it again! I used to commute there by bus from the lower east side. So many memories, you guys are doing a great job!
Planning on visiting with the family and getting some pizza. Maybe 2021 summer time. I love the building architecture , historical areas, the cultural blend and landscape. Feels very comfortable and alive.
That was really good, I especially like when you walked past W. 4th St. I used to live at 136. Had a great view from my window of the World Trade Center. Thanks for bringing back the great memories on my stomping ground.
WTC built near the end of the 1960s. Were you on 4th St. in the 1970's? It would be interesting to hear some details: apt. size, rent, occupation, roommates, etc.
This is a great video. I have really been enjoying the walks you do with Tom Delgado. And, I discovered you, Kenneth, through He Be Barr. Former NYC gal now in San Francisco. Keep up the good work. Will be back for an official tour one day.
I was born and raised in NYC. Grew up near the Village and went to school on West 10th street in the 1960's. That park was so empty at the time, and we had so much fun without all those people and all that hubbub. We sat around the fountain and on the benches, never on the grass. We had "beatniks" in the 1950's and 60's. Handmade jewelry was sold in the streets. West 8th street had a bunch of awesome small shops that closed down over the years. No scaffolding or bags of garbage lining the NY streets back then. Left for California in 1975 when I was 25. Nothing left to miss about New York because like Neil Diamond song says, "LA's fine but it ain't home, NY's home but it ain't mine no more."
Great video with your friend ...Mr. History he knows everything about the village and famous people that live there or did. Thank both of you for a very interesting tour. Be safe.
No is "obligated " to live there or any where else for that matter....if you want these to change ....run for office....stop sitting around complaining....pick a seat and SIT IN IT!! You can either part of the solution or problem...you decide.
There was the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire on March 25, 1911, was the deadliest industrial disaster in the history of the city, and one of the deadliest in U.S. history The fire caused the deaths of 146 garment workers - 123 women and girls and 23 men - who died from the fire, smoke inhalation, or falling or jumping to their deaths. And It’s now part of and owned by New York University. The red building 2:17
Love the walking tours, and especially the Village! My youth was spent there many years ago and it is fun to see it now, relive the locations and see what's they've gentrified into. Also very interesting to see the current situation and how life is accommodating Covid precautions and NYC keeps plugging along! PS - Also loved your more recent tour of Harlem!
The last few times I've gone into the city, I've gone straight into the subway to go busking. But for a while I used to bring my bike into the city and ride from The Port Authority to The Village. And maybe I'd find a place in the park, I'd come on Saturdays and play the Bitter End open mic.
I love your videos Tom. I lived in NYC (Queens) for 19 years before joining the USAF. Worked at 500 5th ave right across from Bryant park, back then it was a nasty place (1983). Used to love to walk from midtown to the WTC. I'm a big history geek, would love to go for a walk with you as my tour guide.
Thank you so much for this type of video. I am like a lot of people missing international travel so much as it is my passion! Plus this felt like going for a stroll with friends. I've been to NYC twice for a total of 20 days, love love love the people and neighborhoods of NYC. Whaaaaat looking you guys up for tour is an option! Where? And how? Cool
Most of what's happening "now" is simply not that newsworthy to mention. When Bob Dylan walked on Jones street with his girlfriend and became the iconic photo on his album, a tour guide wouldn't have passed by that very moment as it was being shot saying "and this is where Bob Dylan's Freewheelin' cover art is being made".
They should wrap up New York City and make it a Museum... with all of the "This used to be....so and so used to lived here ..." ;) Awesome tour you guys !! the best xo
@ 12:11 SECS, THAT USE TO BE BANANA REPUBLIC FOR MANY YEARS, ALL TAGGED UP NOW. AND RIGHT BEFORE THAT, THERE WAS A LEATHER SHOP, THAT MADE BELTS AND BAGS. SHE'S NOW ON CARMINE STREET, JUST A BLOCK OR 2 AWAY.
47:37 Not sure if your walking friend said Greenwich Median Time or Medium Time, but whichever it was... there's no such thing. It's called 'Greenwich Mean Time'. [Noon GMT is the annual average (i.e. "mean") moment of this event, which accounts for the word "mean" in "Greenwich Mean Time". ] (Quote from Wikipedia) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greenwich_Mean_Time
New York is dead! Hahaha. It looks like a regular pre-corona Friday afternoon in NYC to me. I like that Tom knows so much about history. I know my way around NYC quite well but I may be interested in taking one of Tom's tours to get more background about the city.
everytime you walk by a Pizzeria I pause and cross reference it with the Prez one bite pizza review channel and see what he has to say about it. it's a little fun thing i do when i watch your NYC videos. Keep up the great work guys AK and TD
Thanks!
Much appreciated!

I haven't been to NYC in 12 years since moving south. This is a great alternative. Good work!
Sadly, many Manhattan businesses have closed (pre-covid) due to skyrocketing rents. Forget about living there unless you've got the cash.
the attitude in the people has gotten a bit more pessimistic too.. much angrier than I ever recall it being in the past decade or so. I'm confident it can pass, but rough seas are here and rough seas lie ahead.
If you can make there. You can make it, Anywhere. It's up to you NEW YORK NEEEEEWWWWW YOOOOOORK!!!!
Only two groups of people can afford to live in NYC: the rich and the homeless.

Thank you Ken & Tom for this great walk.
New York sure doesn't look as dead as some people claim.
No. It's not. Chelsea here.
It certainly doesn't look dead

Wonderful video. Lived in NY in the 60's and early 70's. No place on earth like NY... really enjoyed the tour. Thanks!

Thanks for the unbiased view of New York City. You're right. It's not dead.
Haven't been there in the last 2 years. Good to see it moving.

Great tour of NYC. Thanks. I have to add, tho. All that garbage on the sidewalks. No garbage bins to place them in?
Really cool and well done.Very informative and the history lesson on the village is very interesting.Thank you.
Hi guys, I really enjoy the digital tour in Manhattan's Village with The Tom Delgado @tomdnyc. Thank you.
So glad to see NYC still has a pulse. It will come back!!
This was an awesome tour. Interesting places and stories.
Wow you guys really got your steps in with this tour! Great tour! Thanks for the information.
Tom your first joke was so funny about the building being built in 1830 for the movie
Great video, guys! Keep 'em coming. Love these virtual guided tours of America's greatest city.
Fantastic job on filming . Good history of New York.

Thank you so much for letting us know what the new york really looks like.

Nice video Actionkid and thank your walking partner for a extra special day! ☺🤗☺
Greenwich, Soho, Kerouac, Dylan, man my mind is blown !
My church did in a park like this a worship service. Berlin/Germany - a city with much forests.
Tom and actionkid are the duo of the century
Great video with your friend ...Mr. History he knows everything about the village and famous people that live there or did. Thank both of you for a very interesting tour. Be safe.

Hi AK nice video love the tours with tom
I love when I find one RUclipsr I like... then I find another youtuber I like... then all of the sudden they are in the same video!
This is an absolutey GREAT Vid Good teamwork !!
It was the best place to live until it became gentrified. Now it's a place for the rich or students 8 to an apartment.
Thank you. Two word that are simple to say but not said enough.
so relaxing watching you walk everywhere you go keep up kid
I love this place so much, so cool
Great walk, thanks to both of you 👍
Hey, just wanted to say I love the show I don’t want anything else right now anyway, you’re the best❤❤😂😂
Wish I was there!
Thank you for the virtual tour....a former NYer
I found it depressing. NYC has abandoned the lower classes, forced manufacturing out, and is a burden on residents obliged to live there.
No is "obligated " to live there or any where else for that matter....if you want these to change ....run for office....stop sitting around complaining....pick a seat and SIT IN IT!! You can either part of the solution or problem...you decide.
New York! The best city we have.
Love it. NYC starting to heal.
Must have an investment?
it's good that you mention the streets where you go 👍
