This song ,when i heard it, flipped a switch in my head . Whatever i was drinking ,no more, i was drinking whiskey. I don't drink whiskey too much anymore.
I lived in Hollywood from 1981 to 1986,But i saw at least 20 different shows at Hollywood Sport, from Judas Priest to Foghat. It was the era of Hard Rock. There shall never be times like that again. Now we have Crap Rap....ROCK FOREVER!!!!
Saw this show in 1981 with Erik Cartwright and Craig Macgregor on bass in Johnstown PA. Erik could never come close to Rod Price, but he still did an awesome job!
LONG LIVE THE REAL BOOGIE-WOOGIE HARD BLUES PLAYERS! "FOGHAT" Dave Peverett ("Lonesome Dave"), on guitar and vocals. Tony Stevens on bass and Roger Earl on drums, and Rod Price, on guitar/slide guitar, and starting in 1976 and on and off through the decades, Craig MacGregor bass.
1980 Cobo Hall Detroit for me, Pat Traverse Band opened. Last row upper deck, center. Saw them 5yrs later, they opened for Triumph at Joe Louis.... 10th row center....not even close. Lonesome Dave and the gang blew them away.
My understanding of this is that BOC and Foghat's sets in their 1981 Sportatorium concert got the attention of a little thing called MTV in its early years.
Saw Foghat original line up first time in 1980 with an old girlfriend. Saw them a few times at club gigs in California, but with the various personnel changes. Then caught the original line up again and for the final time 1998 in Virginia Beach and got ALL their autographs on my "FOGHAT LIVE" cassett tape. Lonesome Dave was diagnosed with cancer in 1999. I caught Foghat again in Virginia Beach a few years later but without Lonsome Dave and Rod Price. I then met the two originals..Roger Earl and Graig McCregor...Rip Craig. The other two that replaced Lonesome Dave and Rod, turned out rather well and I told them that I thought they filled two pairs of BIG SHOES very well. Roger is the only surviving original member.
william b Ault ...Wow, I knew of Rod and Lonesome Dave passing, but never knew about Craig untill I see your mention Rip Craig. DAMM!! Now the only original in the band is Roger Earl...Provided he is even carrying on with the band. I'm glad I saw your mention. I went and looked up Craig to find out what's up and saw that he was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in 2012 and the doctors did not tell him of the test results in time. Craig then lived the rest of his days as an advocate for the "Patient Test Results Information Act" a bill that would require medical personnel to inform patients of all medical tests in a timely mannor. Craig died at home at age 68.
Long live lonesome Dave . I can't tell how much crapola I get for loving Savoy and the hat. Screw them!!!! Nightshift is my favorite. They were all we had when I was young.
I think Erik Cartwright was a great replacement for Rod Price. A different sound and playing and still very fitting for where Foghat was heading at the time. His solo on Wide Boy is short but what a perfect fit!
Lonesome Dave (RIP) had it all together. Erik Cartwright was so very good too (RIP 2017), but I've always preferred original The Bottle = Rod Price (RIP) and his SG style Gibson Les Paul. Originals Roger E. and Tony S. are so very exceptional! Mr. Earl has always been steady and there; a Mr Beat - laid just a little bit back. Tony had great substitutes like Craig MacGregor (RIP 2018) who was such a good dancer on stage, but hell, Mr. Stevens was the original bass. Thank you Dave Peverett !!! Born April 16, 1943; RIP 46+ in Feb 2000. FOGhat; wear one! Nick Jameson was on bass for some album cuts in the 1970s - studio bass player/producer.
@Schon2112 I from Chile, I'm a fan of Foghat, i got the complete discography, i want the DVD of Foghat Live 1977 in video, but not found, You know something?

It was their last hit.....got a lot of MTV play back then.

Saw them 3 or 4 times back in the 70s and 80s. Bands since them don't measure up.

At the Hollywood Sweatatorium!
Chris Hunter there will never be a great concert hall as great as the Hollywood Snortatorium
@Schon2112 You have Foghat Live 1981 in DVD? and there Foghat Live 1977 in DVD o video?
Why did Rod leave at the height of their success?
I believe he got ill. Road rehab, you know.
Tired of constant touring
Not bad
Dirk Diggler on guitar
CAN'T REPLACE ROD THE BOTTLE PRICE
Agree they got away from original programming. My TV never stop on that station anymore nor does it on VH1.
How did rod die
Fell down stairs.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Erik always came across as arrogant to me????
I miss Blue Jean Network, too...crap, huh? MTV sucks!!!
This must be the hollywood snortatorium. Most of the great acts of the day played it, but a dreadful place to get in and out oF.
bad fashion...
Yeah because fashion is why u went to a Rock concert......what a chucklehead comment!
Motorcityman. Exactly who gives a dam about fashion. When I go to concerts. I'm there to get my face blown off. Audibly that is
@@lanawilliams2403 and Foghat did just that.
Good be the best foghst song. Yeah I said it
