But look around and you'll see that the chain has already completely wrapped around L and Light. I think this metaphorically shows how even if Light thinks he obtained victory (breaking the handcuff), he and L locked themselves in a situation they just can't get out of. They both doomed themselves by participating in their duel in the first place. And of course, Ryuk's hand at the bottom reinforces that L and Light are just humans at the end of the day and are just as powerless as any other human against death's hand.

This particular song really captures the mood of the show and its so called "fight". This whole show was a battle of the minds, a warfare on who could plan ahead the best, who could figure out the most, and who could adapt the fastest. This show is still one of a kind and sticks to me till this day.
This song makes my creativity run wild with different scenarios playing in my head, especially 0:47 I’ll give some examples: 1. A guy dies in a car crash then wakes up in his bed and rushes to the mirror to look at himself and thinks “that was way too real to be a dream” 2. Kind of like happy death day, every time the character in question dies they wake up in bed repeating the same day over. 3. A kid looks at himself in the mirror for a long time laughing and smiling trying to catch his reflection off guard, until he actually does and scares the shit out of himself (he moves his arm and his reflection doesn’t). Then him and his reflective self from this alternative yet very similar world create a friendship/bond. 4. Similar to five nights at freddys, a guy is watching a surveillance video camera during the night shift when he does a double take because he thought a statue moved. He stares at the statue for another minute and it moves again. Really fun to create different scenarios and let them play in your head while listening.
Reasoning is the 1 thing that no character does in Death Note's final 12 episodes. Near ass-pulls every answer and everyone else makes the stupidest decisions possible.
Honestly the Kira Task Force not finding it strange that they couldn't find another lead like the Yotsuba group for YEARS had me side-eyeing them... I know Mr. Yagami passed and they didn't want to accuse his son yet again, but everything would have felt too convenient to me 😭😂
