Im thinking this is whats wrong with my explorer. My coolant is full but my heats going in and out . My coolant i noticed is over pressure and coming out my radiator cap.. im a girl i know my basics..i was thinking this or my thermostat.. i guess ill figure it out lol.
Hey Todd. How did you remove the 8mm pump bolt behind the hose inlet at 7:21. Im using both short and long ratchet. That area gives no room knowing its in a small corner. Thanks in advance
watching the video again at that point, I still dont see any bolts behind an inlet. maybe a swivel, take the hoses off to make it easier to get to the bolts that are kind of close to the 2 water pump inlet and outlets. Hope you had success.
Well I did get it off. I had to use a small open end wrench and had to remove the radiator because it was hell going under to do it because of the condenser pipes so if you done this from the top only then your Superman.. Good video. PS, This is my 3rd Explorer. There all POS but I love them.
you can rent/borrow the water pump removal tools from autozone or NAPA, a special thin wrench and a pulley holder so you can get the fan nut off. also, leave the belt ON until you get the fan and shroud off and everything else loosened up and THEN remove the belt as the belt holds things in place for you. put a piece of cardboard in front of the fan to protect the radiator as you WILL ding the fins after doing the next step below. also, spend the extra 20 seconds to remove the 2 fan shroud bolts and remove the entire fan shroud and fan unit for much more space. now would be the perfect time to backflush the radiator. even guys who keep their trucks immaculate said they couldn't believe how much crud came out when backflushing with a garden hose. .
Michael Oxford Hi. I have 2010 explorer 4.0. I have erratic fan speed at times. I have replaced a new electric fan clutch but the problem is still same. Could you please help me out on this. I will really appreciate.
If he left the belt on before pulling the fan, and pulley bolts it woulda been a lot easier. Especially using a good air ratchet

What are the torque specs for the water pump and for the fan clutch?
You can tell me how long it takes to pressure each pump screw?
Great video, thx!!!
is that 36mm the same on a '98 Explorer as well?
Yes, 36mm is the standard size for fan clutch assemblies
Same as a Mercury mountaineer??
You don't really know what you're doing; do you? Very entertaining. Hilarious actually.
Thanks for the video
You mentioned special tools but I didnt see you use any. Can you elaborate?

good job👌
Is it ok to replace fan with electric fan
Cad Stansel yes but you would need a sending unit to activate the fan at a certain temp.
