I'm very happy that you react to Bom, yes her voice is very unique and powerful and that make her a amazing vocalist and you can feel the emotions in her voice too. i'm seriously glad she returned as a soloist after everything that happened and that she keeps going, despite all the ridiculousness of younger/newer kpop fans and i'm seriously glad she asked wheein to collab on "4:44" with her, which is... literally a dream come true for wheein, who has been a fan of 2ne1 since her childhood (she called bom 'my one and only singer'). wheein and hwasa both have said the group was one of their biggest influences growing up there were several interactions between bom and mamamoo throughout the whole 'queendom' show, though we didn't get to see much of one everyone wanted (when bom stormed into mamamoo's waiting room and danced/sang with them because they were loudly singing 2ne1 songs and she heard it from her own waiting room)

There are actually a few song from Koreans that have the same title, and it always seems to carry the same meaning, deep thoughts that trouble the mind, and lead to matters that people don't talk about often. Also Bom was at the age of 25 when You & I was released, Don't cry she was age 27 and 4:44 she was age 35, you brought up age being a thing so I just wanted to help with how old she was at each song release. Most hate she gets isn't mostly due to her voice itself, it is due to a scandal back in 2014, since she was getting medication she needed given by a doctor in the USA for her depression and ADHD. She also suffers from lymphatic disease, she has stated this. She was my first female bias ever and as her fan, I saw her getting so much hate for no reasons. They even mocked her fans for loving her music and her personality. People said she's the worst singer ever. People said she had plastic surgery and is a monster. I used to refute all of that and felt really hurt by these words. Even though they were not for me. I wish I could go back in time and tell to these haters : even if she's a bad singer? So what, I still love her voice. Even if she has bad techniques? So what, she's a grown up, she can decide for herself, she has friends and family that can give her their honest opinions and help her. Even if she has had surgery? So what, nothing wrong. Even if she's lying about her having surgeries? So what, not my business, she does not own me anything. I'm just a random person who happened to love her voice and music. I was so happy that her musical career was not destroyed by these haters. I was so happy for her comeback. She did not get a lot of votes on Queedom but I don't care. Park Bom is the only person that makes me bawl my eyes out whenever I hear her sing because of all the emotions she's conveying (especially in her latest songs). She went through sooooo much shit, was publicly hated and unjustly blamed for 2NE1's downfall (and sadly still is). Despite all that she finally decided to come back 2 years ago (please check out "Spring") and she's still having such a hard time. If I remember correctly, she said that 4:44 am is a time she finds herself awake and pondering about life (she has been suffering from insomnia in the past years). Anyway, Park Bom is legendary and everyone in Korea knows her voice. She participated in masked singer last year (singers anonymously do sing battles) and everyone immediately knew it was her just from the first lines of the teaser. I will fight everyone to protect Park Bom :)

Here are some suggestions for you :) For girl groups: - SPICA, they were like mamamoo before mamamoo in terms of their vocals, they have sadly disbanded cause people are dumb and couldn't recognize their talent while they were together. Some songs of theirs that I recommend are "you don't love me, Russian roulette, and tonight. - Brown eyed girls, their concepts were amazing and so are their vocal. I think you would like are sixth sense, kill bill (story version), and brave new world. For boy groups: - BTOB, Great vocal group! I suggest the songs "missing you, beautiful pain, and movie"

But first, thank you for noticing Park Bom, i love her voice, it's so unique and thank you for being objective There is a video of don't cry accoustic where i guess she sang it live, you can check on it. But as a fan, i would say that she had been throught a lots. Before her debut, she did have some proper technique ( she went to Berklee College of Music ) and then she was trained by YG and her technique changed, they made her pulled chest a lots, sing with nasality. During 2ne1 time, they were label as the "ugly girlgroup", so she'd gone throught a lot of plastique surgery, yoyo diet. she suffers from a lymphatic disease, which cause her lymph nodes to swell She has ADHD and has been taking medication since living in the US. She took her medication to korea but the drug is banned in Korea, the press mislead everyone, saying she was a drug dealer, she was taking drug, etc Her agent abandoned her, she had been hiding for 5 years because of the hate and now finally she can come back with her new song "spring". So yeah, i'm a big fan of great vocalist, people with good technique but studio Park Bom is just good, her voice is so unique, her live is not the best but her music is good and she's been throught a lots.
Bom and Minzy were always my biases in 2NE1 although I loved all their unique styles. But Bom has this voice that is just perfectly suited to dramatic, emotional ballads that pull tears from you whether they're tears of joy or sadness, of longing and regret or of hope for things to come

Whenever I think about Park Bom's skill at using her voice I think about when she sang her most recent song "Wanna Go Back" at the finale of the competition show 'Queendom'. She was struggling to keep her earpiece in, and eventually she just gave up toward the end and ditched it completely and hit the high note at the end with zero earpiece assistance, only her training to guide her pitch.

Just a NOTE: “LIVE” in my book includes “prerecorded LIVE” ... it is LIVE when she performs it; but dress rehearsal and audience performances are edited together for the episode airings... still considered “live” to me
Yep, I’m glad you pointed this out. A lot of people think Hann was lip-synced but you can see in the Eyes Lips and Nose performance that she has a lapel mic on her dress that suddenly disappears in the next frame because Queendom filmed the rehearsals and used them in editing. Also, the Wanna Go Back performance was performed/aired on LIVE live TV. Also I’d like to let Austin know that 2NE1 and Bom specifically made it a point to never lip-sync and have continually sang live throughout their career. When there was a chance Bom may have had to not sing live in 2011 MAMA awards due to being sick YG announced it ahead of time but fortunately she recovered and sang live. This is another reason I suspect as to why Mamamoo and so many other idols look up to 2NE1.

I'd like to clarify myself by saying that I mentioned people pointing out issues with her voice because I was first and foremost interested in your professional opinion, I did not do it with the intention of shading her. She definitely has one of the most unique voices I've even heard and she seems, to my untrained ear, to sing really emotionally and she was able to convey feelings to possibly millions of people all over the world. Not to mention that 2NE1 has been crucial in the history of Kpop and as such I have the upmost respect for her, although I'm not particularly into her way of singing. You will easily find pretty recent live performances from her as she took part to a competition show called Queendom just last year. To this show took part Mamamoo, (G)i-dle, Lovelyz, Oh My Girl and AOA and all groups did some incredible performances once again proving how prepared idols really are.
Bom's Don't Cry and EXO's Angel are still he only two songs that make me cry in Kpop. 2NE1 and EXO, my faves, I hope one day to see both these groups performing again.

And I’m immensely glad that you’re doing Bom. 2NE1 (with BIGBANG) is the group that got me into kpop and when they disbanded, I stopped listening to kpop altogether. Up until Mamamoo came into my life. I often say Mamamoo reminds me of 2NE1 somehow and that why I got into them. So the first time I heard 4:44, I cried like an idiot because it just felt SO right to me.

She was my first female bias ever and as her fan, I saw her getting so much hate for no reasons. They even mocked her fans for loving her music and her personality. People said she's the worst singer ever. People said she had plastic surgery and is a monster. I used to refute all of that and felt really hurt by these words. Even though they were not for me. I wish I could go back in time and tell to these haters : even if she's a bad singer? So what, I still love her voice. Even if she has bad techniques? So what, she's a grown up, she can decide for herself, she has friends and family that can give her their honest opinions and help her. Even if she has had surgery? So what, nothing wrong. Even if she's lying about her having surgeries? So what, not my business, she does not own me anything. I'm just a random person who happened to love her voice and music.
I was so happy that her musical career was not destroyed by these haters. I was so happy for her comeback. She did not get a lot of votes on Queedom but I don't care. She achieved so many things that she was not able or not allowed to during her days in YG. I loved her cover of Hann, I finally had the chance to hear her version of Scarecrow, as well as her long awaited cover of Eyes Nose Lips. I was during this program, that I really felt loved as a blackjack and bomshell. We waited a lot, but it was worth it.

We fans are just grateful that she came back and sing again. I mean we don't even know how scary that is, coming back after all trauma she experienced.

Her songs from YG days are bound to be catchy as they're made by in house producer Teddy, who's behind most of 2NE1's work and all of Blackpink's. Arguable this was his peak years as well.
She has always been a good singer but she really became a great singer in recent years and you can tell. Her new vocal coach(es) are helping her to preserve her voice. I was scared for a long time she would lose her voice
Yes, the two first videos tie in storywise. They couldn't get the same actor for video 2 but same character. Her name is Bom. Park is her family name. It comes first in Korean when saying the name.

Her latest comeback, Flower feat Kim Min Seok from Melomance is one of the best she has released so far. And looking back to her older solo songs, there's a bit of a change to her voice now but it holds much more power and emotions.

Park Bom is the only person that makes me bawl my eyes out whenever I hear her sing because of all the emotions she's conveying (especially in her latest songs). She went through sooooo much shit, was publicly hated and unjustly blamed for 2NE1's downfall (and sadly still is). Despite all that she finally decided to come back 2 years ago (please check out "Spring") and she's still having such a hard time. If I remember correctly, she said that 4:44 am is a time she finds herself awake and pondering about life (she has been suffering from insomnia in the past years). Anyway, Park Bom is legendary and everyone in Korea knows her voice. She participated in masked singer last year (singers anonymously do sing battles) and everyone immediately knew it was her just from the first lines of the teaser.
I will fight everyone to protect Park Bom :)

- SPICA, they were like mamamoo before mamamoo in terms of their vocals, they have sadly disbanded cause people are dumb and couldn't recognize their talent while they were together. Some songs of theirs that I recommend are "you don't love me, Russian roulette, and tonight.
- Brown eyed girls, their concepts were amazing and so are their vocal. I think you would like are sixth sense, kill bill (story version), and brave new world.
For boy groups:
- BTOB, Great vocal group! I suggest the songs "missing you, beautiful pain, and movie"

I've been a fan of 2ne1 since 2010, i would say her live was very unstable, seriously, she doesn't have the best technique, her way of singing was unhealthy. But as a fan, i would say that she had been throught a lots.
Before her debut, she did have some proper technique ( she went to Berklee College of Music ) and then she was trained by YG and her technique changed, they made her pulled chest a lots, sing with nasality.
During 2ne1 time, they were label as the "ugly girlgroup", so she'd gone throught a lot of plastique surgery, yoyo diet.
she suffers from a lymphatic disease, which cause her lymph nodes to swell
She has ADHD and has been taking medication since living in the US. She took her medication to korea but the drug is banned in Korea, the press mislead everyone, saying she was a drug dealer, she was taking drug, etc Her agent abandoned her, she had been hiding for 5 years because of the hate and now finally she can come back with her new song "spring".
So yeah, i'm a big fan of great vocalist, people with good technique but studio Park Bom is just good, her voice is so unique, her live is not the best but her music is good and she's been throught a lots.

Bom and Minzy were always my biases in 2NE1 although I loved all their unique styles. But Bom has this voice that is just perfectly suited to dramatic, emotional ballads that pull tears from you whether they're tears of joy or sadness, of longing and regret or of hope for things to come
This is why I subscribe to this guy. He doesn't wrap up in the drama or prescribes to "What sounds appropriately mainstream" He enjoys unique and interesting and individual sounds. This is also probably why I watch every single video lol

Love love love Park Bom's voice. When I first heard her, I immediately thought of Corinne Bailey Rae. They have a similar vibrato, is it? but yes, I see the similarities with Shakira as well. All of them just very unique, very cool voices, that so far people either really do love or hate.

Whenever I think about Park Bom's skill at using her voice I think about when she sang her most recent song "Wanna Go Back" at the finale of the competition show 'Queendom'. She was struggling to keep her earpiece in, and eventually she just gave up toward the end and ditched it completely and hit the high note at the end with zero earpiece assistance, only her training to guide her pitch.
Thanks for the thoughtful commentary. Bom has gone through a lot of unwarranted strife in her life. All she ever wanted to do is sing and she continues to do so. She is an inspiration to many. Just a NOTE: “LIVE” in my book includes “prerecorded LIVE” ... it is LIVE when she performs it; but dress rehearsal and audience performances are edited together for the episode airings... still considered “live” to me
Yep, I’m glad you pointed this out. A lot of people think Hann was lip-synced but you can see in the Eyes Lips and Nose performance that she has a lapel mic on her dress that suddenly disappears in the next frame because Queendom filmed the rehearsals and used them in editing. Also, the Wanna Go Back performance was performed/aired on LIVE live TV. Also I’d like to let Austin know that 2NE1 and Bom specifically made it a point to never lip-sync and have continually sang live throughout their career. When there was a chance Bom may have had to not sing live in 2011 MAMA awards due to being sick YG announced it ahead of time but fortunately she recovered and sang live. This is another reason I suspect as to why Mamamoo and so many other idols look up to 2NE1.

OMG! Thank you! People have always been talking about Park Bom and her voice and she damaged her voice and HOW, like they know or it's their business and it is so insensitive. Thank you for finally saying that it is inappropriate! She has had problems with swollen lymph nodes (she said this) just so you know this is the only thing she has ever personally made reference to but otherwise thank you for treating with the issue so sensitively, the way it should be.
I'd like to clarify myself by saying that I mentioned people pointing out issues with her voice because I was first and foremost interested in your professional opinion, I did not do it with the intention of shading her. She definitely has one of the most unique voices I've even heard and she seems, to my untrained ear, to sing really emotionally and she was able to convey feelings to possibly millions of people all over the world. Not to mention that 2NE1 has been crucial in the history of Kpop and as such I have the upmost respect for her, although I'm not particularly into her way of singing. You will easily find pretty recent live performances from her as she took part to a competition show called Queendom just last year. To this show took part Mamamoo, (G)i-dle, Lovelyz, Oh My Girl and AOA and all groups did some incredible performances once again proving how prepared idols really are.

Park Bom has a unique voice. While she does sing quite powerfully in chest voice, it is her comfort zone and she is able to carry it through live performances and concerts effortlessly.

And I’m immensely glad that you’re doing Bom. 2NE1 (with BIGBANG) is the group that got me into kpop and when they disbanded, I stopped listening to kpop altogether. Up until Mamamoo came into my life. I often say Mamamoo reminds me of 2NE1 somehow and that why I got into them. So the first time I heard 4:44, I cried like an idiot because it just felt SO right to me.
