  • Today we are reviewing one of my favorite rods! The Daiwa Presso Ultralight Rod 8'. I have had this fishing rod for quite some time and although we already made a review in the past about it, I figured that after having it for sometime and catching many different fish with it like halibut, croaker and even bass has given me enough insight to give it a much better, thought out review.
    This rod comes in many different sizes from 5'6" to 11' (in the 2 piece set up) and it is a great travel rod because it breaks apart and doesn't take up much space. It is a pretty strong rod for its size and especially for the price.
    We hope that you guys enjoy the video, if you have any questions or suggestions please let us know in the comments below. Also, if you guys like these types of videos, let us know what you did or didn't like about it so we can be better prepared in the next review!

    If you can find them...get them. Not the travel version but the 2 piece. The travel/pack rod is not worth getting IMHO as it's very prone to breaking. I was able to pick up both the 6.6" and 7'6" this month. Still after the 8 up.

      @belowaveragefishing4771  3 года назад +2

      If you have a turners outdoorsman they have them and tackle shops are starting to get them in. Yes the travel one isn’t worth it, but the 1&2 piece are great!

    FYI @ 2:00 minutes...its completely opposite w these new spinning rods. Im from Hawaii and I whip and dunk a lot w various types of spinning rods. These new rods the line guides are smaller and the rings are further away from the rod blank. Through experience I've noticed significantly that im able to throw further than normal because the line guides are smaller and further away from the rod blank. Let me explain: As the line spins off your spinner spool it spirals. Now w a larger eye the spiral of the line is larger and hits the rod blank as it spirals off the spool, hence creating friction. In turn creates less distance. Now these new rods from 2021 I've noticed a lot of spinner rods are manufactured w smaller line guides that are further away from the rod blank. This new design I found controls the spiraling of the line as it spirals off the spool. With the smaller line guides and the guides are made further away from the rod blank, the spiral of the line is significantly smaller and controlled which prevents the line from hitting the rod blank as the line comes off the spool. In turn creates less friction which translate to tossing your bait or lure significantly further. Now if your using braid it also prevents wind knots because the spiral is smaller and much tighter and controlled. Wind knots are created when the line spirals off the spool & it hits the rod blank. So smaller the guides and further away from the rod created distance and less wind knots when using braid. Aloha....🤙😎

      I’ve only broken a rod once when I closed my car door on it. But you can feel the difference when it’s a low quality rod on a big fish, you can heard the graphite cracking under pleasure.

    I have had 3 of these rods. One I lost raffing the other two BROKE. they are not strong. The two that broke broke at the third guide. It is a WEAK point. They both broke at less then a year so Diawa sent the second one that was then lost. The thrid one broke first time out. Will see if Diawa honors their warrantee this time.
    I am not the only person that has done this.
