      ​@blem5376 they want extra bandages because ,if you don't know, as you use it , you'll notice you accidently just touch the edge of a hedge or wall or fence or someone will step near you and fwooomph you're set alight , or worse you set some poor player alight standing next to you, the extra bandages would be good because as it is you only get two heals from burning someone,
      2 more or maybe even 3 more would definately help. That's why. 😂

    Rising storm 2 did the flame thrower so good that every other game's rendition of it just sucks in comparison. For instance, the second flames would touch you, you'd drop your weapon and burn to death so the TTK was suuper fast AND the flames would bank around corners so clearing buildings and trenches was a breeze.

      Yeah until someone with a goddamn foot mortar with their aimbot sniped you for the 6th time in 2 minutes from 300 yards.
      It's sad... by the time RS2 fixed (EDIT: "fixed") their hacking issue, it was time to move onto RS: Vietnam, which didn't have hackers but did quickly have support dropped due to a buyout of Tripwire.
      But yeah the flamethrower was usable as a primary weapon in RS2. Not very realistic, but fun when not being aimbotted.

      You know what ruined everything? The day we started referring to CHEATING as "exploits".
      It opened the way for every kid that were being introduced to gaming to form the mindset that it was OK to not work things out for themselves or learn to gradually get better to improve.
      It was the slippery slope
      I mean we always will have the idiots who want to cheat but I think we made it OK to be in that mindset, they grew up thinking exploiting games was OK or even clever.
      In my day you wouldn't even let these types in your squads or clans. Now there's clans devoted to it

    The issue i have with the flamethrower is that the flames immediately disappear when you die. Meaning that you could have sprayed a general area, and if you get headshot part way through, it's all gone, like you were never there.

      Well it does burn for a second or two if you light up a hedge or wooden wall. Those can still set someone alight if they happen to be next to them, or walk into them. Problem is it only injures them and they have to bandage. Would be nice if it was a proper kill to be set alight.
      In fact that's what I try to do to get the kills, hope someone's prone inside or by a hedge, set fire to it from other side and hear them scream hehe.
      Yeah it's pretty useless really 😅

    It just needs to have the Rising Storm / Rising Storm 2: Vietnam flamethrower physics. You spray that into a bunker or trench and the flames bounced around off the walls so it actually worked as intended. It also instantly killed upon contact with the flames and had excellent death animations for being burned with it.

    One time I was playing with my IRL friend and we made an open squad. A man who sounded like a 40-year old chill dad joined and we got along. In game we got pushed hard and the Americans had put up a strong defense in a long set of houses. All of a sudden this dadgamer walks up to the set of houses and whips out this monster of a weapon and starts flaming the sh*t out of the windows, killing everyone inside and it was at that point I realized that I was playing with a beast. It won us the game as we managed to mobilize a counter-attack into a slow push. Ever since I've wanted to try out the Flamethrower it can be game changing and the visuals are great. You really see the power it lays down.

    I think the slow movement while bracing really makes this weapon suffer. I enjoy using it none the less for a bit of a morale boost for the team 😂

    They should make it 30m ish range and the flames stay on what ever you spray them on for a lot longer. I love the flamethrower, So good at blocking access. Best point for it is town center. The most wanted change I want is for the tanks to explode in a massive ball of flames when shot. Very OP weapon with massive consequences. Your team will love and hate you (:

    Its just impractical because most matches people dont build fortifications and hold areas of the map often. So the need to clear out garrisoned buildings and fortifications are null most of the time. Its a load out that you switch too when the need arises but otherwise its really pointless. They need to tweak the supply requirements so people build more that would create a lot more dynamic situations where bringing a flamethrower would make sense and actually work

      SAME HERE, every time I have tge flamethrower, every engagement goes long range.
      You switch out of it for a better ranged gun and you stumble on top of 4 guys laying in a trench or in a house!! Maddening!!! Never had that amazing flamer moment. Best was 2 guys by a hedge I set alight from other side. Safely watching them panic and burn was cool lol

    avid flame thrower user. here 95% of the time its less effective than other options or useless but the 5% of the time its very fun + the ability to instantly kill a garrison once its found is very strong.
    in order to fix it i think it needs to have suppression added preferably at max effect, the range bumped to 25 meters and half the turn penalty while braced.

    Flamethrowers in war are used to clear confined spaces, it kills by flooding the space with CO (carbon monoxide) suffocating the people in the confined space, not by burning the enemy (which is slow). And since in the game people do not much use confined spaces to hold out in (extensive bunkers, sewers, cellars et.) It's a weapon in the wrong place.
    In order to make it more realistic and useful they can change this:
    - change the map to have more and bigger valuable (!) confined spaces people want to defend (be in!).
    - change the flame thrower's propeties to have a well telegraphed poison cloud effect (tunnel vision + suffocating sounds) in addition to a pain a disabling effect. When the sticky fuel lands it should create pools of fire that last a couple of minutes as the invisible poison cloud expands and later contracts.
    Somehow I think all of this is not going to happen as it requiers a lot, and players are used to playing a game a certain way.
    I think there is space for a different game with more planning and team-work, and less uncoordinated headless chicken noob runs. But then again it's challanging to directs those headless noobs into cohesive effective teams.

    From my understanding of software development, the two biggest time sinks are bug fixing and fundamental functionality. The hard part of programming a flamethrower is the actual flames, and that's done already. Making the flames stay in the air after 20 meters would likely mean getting rid of code, getting the visuals right might be an issue though. I don't think that it would take much dev time to fix flamethrowers (depending on how the game is coded).
    And they seriously need to rework the XP system, I've never played a game with about as many loadout options as HLL where I couldn't get everything after 300 hours.

      Yeah, I had to use an XP grind server to unlock flamethrower. Took only 2 hours doing it this way, levelling Support from rank 1 to 8.

    Best part of the flamethrower is, it one shots garrisons, can take out half tracks, one shot op’s, and with enough fuel take out a tank with the help of an explosives ammunition box.
    Also I got an achievement today using the flamethrower, it was called fighting fire with fire, so killing an enemy player that has the flamethrower with my flamethrower. On Xbox only 0.06% have it unlocked.

    Easy fix
    1 make the class not take much flame damage, I mean this guy is trained for this job, he knows how to avoid flames
    Increase the AOE of the flames, flames are HOT and add supression to it, flamethrowers were as much an intimidation weapon as a field weapon
    Increase the range and gravity as you said
    And last but not least, make it so the AOE is VERY high when shooting into buildings, flamethrowers were used to clear out buildings and bunkers, atleast make it an effective weapon for clearing out houses and buildings, let the flames linger longer inside buildings.

    Best way I’ve found to level up is to take support, jump in a supply truck and offer to drive your officer to build a garrison. Drop one crate after the first two squares, ask your officer to build an outpost nearby. Now take your officer to wherever he wants to build a garrison, and drive the truck back. Then redeploy on the op as an engineer and build your nodes. And then redeploy on the garrison.

    I think the flamethrower is really good against enemies holding a building. You can suppress the defender by burning the windows, while your satchel teammate puts down a satchel

    @terrydactyl .... my friend i agree with you on almost all of your opinions around HLL. However I have 100+ hours with the trench gun and it is one of the most powerful weapons in the game. I wish I had VOD's for you, but it is insanely good.

      Same here. I was taken aback at the whole "trench gun is bad and meme" comment in this video. Hell Let Loose is one of the few games where the shotgun doesn't feel like it has a 10 foot range for balance reasons. And yet it still dominates in CQC (with good aim, of course).

    Another great video!! Loved the funny beacon part. I think flamethrower loadouts need something else added to them along with fixing the range issue you mentioned. I am level 9 and there are times even on urban maps that i am not able to use it bz of distance. So the kit needs a dual use/benefit for the team. More supplies? More explosive ammo? A bunch of grenades? Another gun? I dont know the answer but something. (I also do not have that achievement and i have tried using thr flamethrower multiple times)

      Could be an area denial sort of Loadout. AP mines, smokes, and the Flamer could make it very annoying for people to try to push you if you were holding the stairwell in church for example

    The flamethrower needs love, point blank. The range should absolutely be increased to at LEAST 35-40m. Letting the fuel arc and be affected by gravity would be ideal but I wouldn't be sad if it never happened. 20m is just borderline psychotic though. If this stays as is, the class should also carry 2-3 mags of submachine gun ammo as standard instead of the pistol. The class would have the SMG as a primary and have the flamethrower as a specialized secondary. Less realistic imo.
    Just double the range for now, increase the hipfire ADS time and walk speed slightly, and work on a more permanent rebalance down the road. I grinded for the flamethrower but wouldn't mind if they made it a rank 6 loadout.

    The flamethrower loadout would be useful if it came with a rifle as a primary. Maybe only give it 2 or 3 mags or clips of ammo, that way you can fight your way into a closer engagement range. It would probably help if the flamethrower had 10 more meters to it firing range.

    The trench gun is great if you use it properly. It’s great at close and mid range. If you’re accurate, you can get kills at a decent long range as well.

    I feel like the flamethrower in HLL is much like the flamethrower used in WW2. An extremely specialized weapon used in very specific situations. They are good for CQC and bunker clearing but other than that it’s not the best, and it’s kind of hard to buff it. I think it’s good in its current space. A fun weapon to use, but not that useful. But maybe it could use a bit of a range buff

      Hell no , as someone who got the flamethrower since day 1 i can say without a doubt that it is shit due to the fact that
      1. you need to brace it before fire which completely kill any rapid response if you get jump
      2. The range is too short , irl flamethrower can do 35-40m while the one in HLL does 15m top
      3.The flame doesn't stick or spread around like actual napalm flame
      What i don't get is why does Red Orchestra 2 which is made more than a decade ago get flamer right but HLL doesn't even close

    increase the suppression value of the flamethrower or perhaps stun enemy (and friendly) infantry who are in close proximity to the flame, either by temporarily locking the weapon to hip fire or heavily blurr the vision. I mean, imagine getting blasted by a 1300 C flame to the face. The heat radiation itself is enough to make tears and even if you dont get hit you will instinctively turn away.

    8:40 about the Steam achievments don't forget that *31,8%* of the playerbase on Steam *didn't - kill - a - single - ennemy* in their entire HLL career.
    On Steam there is a huge amount of people that don't actually played the games they bough, for many reasons, like refund or else and are still counted in the achievments stats.
    (your LOTR montage is crazy btw)

    Enlisted made the best flamethrower imo. I don’t care for the game personally. I just remember using the flamethrower and thinking “wow, finally a real flamethrower”

    Terry!!! Just to let you know a couple of tips that might make you like the flamethrower a "little" more than you might already.....
    You can set fire to a hedgerow from one side and anyone on the OTHERSIDE of that hedgerow, if they are creeping along it, as we do, will be set aflame and most likely killed!!
    It's a great way to kill people hiding behind what they think is a safe spot.
    The same thing applies to wooden structures on Russian Village maps,
    It's an interesting dynamic to play around with , I'm sure you will find ways to utilise this better than I have..
    Now what was the other thing....hmmm
    Yeah ....naaaa that's it. It's bloody useless isn't it 😂

    I just got the Flamethrower myself. The lack of the spray of hot liquid effect, to essentially, whip the flame around corners or over walls plus then keeping that area on fire for a bit longer than it does now, plus it should remain on the ground better. It should be a great area control weapon. It should be longer range, not be a recoverable wound if you got the liquid on you. It should have some effect on all vehicles. It looks awesome, it feels awesome, but it needs to actually be Awesome and be truer to how it actually performed in battle. Plus, you should have at least one extra tank of fuel to reload it.
    Great video... Loved the dedication for the Light the beacon!

    If it was worth putting in the game then it's worth making it work. I'd use it if it worked realistically because then it would have an in-game use for attacking hard points, area-denial, etc.

    first problem is that not many people have the lvl in support class so they cannot use the flamethrower at all, i think the biggest issue is the range and that flames just stops, like you say in the video it should be added liquid mechanic to get some range, i personaly use it sometimes and its quite effektiv on the night and urban maps. i think they should add more physics to the flames like clearing all the house at once(satchel like) by flames going up and staying longer on wooden elements or trees/bushes, or kill tank crew without destroying a tank, and movement should not be slower with this range you have now , overall i think there is to much cons than pros when you use the flamethrower and there is only a few situasions it is actually useful

    I used it two times, it haves a really short range, gives your possition away, it's TTK it's bad; i don't really have any thing good to say about it, it's quite useless 98% of the times, you are better with a rifle, the supplies and the ammo boxes for your team. They should extend it's range to 38m and even then.. the 2nd kit it's the best one for the Support class.

    It is so freaking fun!! You do die a lot but I love the gratification of when it goes right. Or when the enemy keeps throwing grenades at you and they miss because you are being a ptsd creating menace. It is a give and take weapon.

    There is one situation where it works really well: eliminating garrisons. If you are on a garrison hunt, this is phenomenal in the speed.
    In other situations, it only has use for ambushing close range where you know you’ll take the first shot.

    HLL is NOT a realistic WWII game. It has the look, feel and ambiance. It's a graphically beautiful game, but it's not the least bit realistic. Many decisions are game mechanics based. For instance, why can't a bazooka damage the side of a medium tank? Even a Heavy tank, for that matter, if fired at the right location? WWIIOL was far more realistic. It's just not the least bit graphically beautiful anymore. It's a very old game, with amazing game mechanics, but very dated graphics. If they could ever make the game look like HLL, it would be once again, the premier WWII game.

    What you said about the flames feeling farther than they actually go is soo true. Ive had so many potentially sweet streaks that were messed up by the range or the brace 😂 it's still fun to use though, especially when jt all lines up good.

    I’ve always said that if they extended the flamethrowers range to about 35 meters and added a suppression mechanic to the flames it would make it 10x more effective than it is right now. Now, instead of acting as basically a one-trick ambush tool you can actually use it to create space and dominate close quarters as the weapon is meant to as long as someone doesn’t get the drop on you. It also makes it so that someone can’t kill you while you’re actively setting them on fire just because they’re quick on the trigger. It’s happened a lot before, and it’s annoying because the time to kill is obviously slower than a gun.
    I know on the forums the devs have said they’re looking into improving it, but like you said it may not be worth the resources. Which is a shame because it is very fun to use. I’ve gotten about 120 kills with it now, but it’s going to be a very slow road to that 1000 achievement

      You're going to have a terrible time without team support. The flamethrower wasn't designed to fight alone; it's meant to support and be supported.

      ​@@TheJinnobi So is everything else but the different being you can go solo using an MG to a tank and still produce great result while flamethrower is shit by design (ingame) so your payout is horible regardless if you work with other or not

      @@TheJinnobi as the other guy said, you have a terrible time regardless of if you have support or not. Personally, I’ve had less success while in groups because the enemy is already looking your way and your range is so short that by the time you’re ready to engage they’re already ready for you. The most success I’ve had with it is when I went off by myself and allowed my team to be a distraction so I could go on long flanks around the enemy. Because the flamethrower isn’t exactly loud, flanking an enemy that’s engaged in a gunfight with your team and just slowly burning them out from whoever they’re not looking is the best way to get kills. And that’s best accomplished when your off by yourself because you have a lower profile than with a group who don’t know trigger discipline 9/10

      yeah, the flamethrower is exclusive to the support class. it's meant to be a support weapon. what would you propose? I could see a slightly longer range or longer lasting flames on the ground, but that's about it.

      @@TheJinnobi i go solo in tank all the time until i got a full crew so no problem lasting 20-30 minute lol , as for the flamethrower it's a support weapon AND a weapon that excel in CQC / clearance which it do HORRIBLY cause of all the unrealistic nerf on it ( short range , no suppression, having to brace to fire , it fire being coded as a bullet like projectile instead of actual napalm , ... ) right now an SMG is beating it 9/10 time. The solution would be to just copy RO2 ( a game that is decade old at this point ) flamethrower and it's done

    Personally I would love the flamethrowers if they add in a pooling effect and a splashing effect for the gasoline and you can decide to ignite it whenever but it’s obviously limited so you can flood the entire objective then ignite it,but just make it historically accurate and physically accurate with their elements and how they work

    Not enough fuel in the weapon. A few blasts and its out and useless. I think they SHOULD fix the range and the small amount of fuel it has. Its a splash weapon also so there should be a larger area of effect. ALSO... give the class a rifle or smg instead of a pistol.

    Semi destructive environments. Add objects that spawn randomly on the map which can be blown up, and add them to the engineer kit, then add the additional range.
    Make some of those objects parts of buildings. Engineers can repair those too.
    Easier than actual destructive environments because it's an object with a health bar that can only be destroyed by fire or explosives and the true environment cannot.

    I've got that achievement and I've been using it far too much. It's a HIGHLY situational weapon and I think the only reason I got that achievement was that I took out a transport truck with some enemies in it plus one other guy as far as I can recall anyways.

    It may not be a good use of time to fix it, but it would show that even if no one uses it, those who do choose to will still have a good time with it. Encouraging a variety of play styles and tactics for a more chaotic environment.

    Double the range and it becomes more useful. Flames should spread on certain surfaces like bushes, wood and whatnot. Have them linger longer for proper area denial. Support player should be either immune or highly resistant to flame damage. I'd go with the first one, but for HLL the 2nd approach might be more logical here.
    Also why are they not the historical ranges in the first place... Flammenwerfer 41 had a range of 36m+, same for the Soviets ROKs2 (or what it was called...) and also the US if I'm not entirely mistaken.

    This weapon was used to clear out bunkers and trenches. If you are using it outside of what it was ment for in ww2 it's like going to a gun fight with a knife.

    Reason why it's bad:
    Short Range (and that's ok)
    98% of the time you catch people face to face however there is a large delay before your flame starts to fire
    Also, you can't move when shooting. You more or less stop.
    Fix is simple. Allow people to walk freely (not run) and remove the fire delay so when you do shoot, it shoots as quick as one would IRL.
    It's been a while using it as it was that bad I didn't bother but I think you have to right click then shoot? why? just allow hip fire.

    The flamethrower is cool but I'd love to see light mortors added as a class similar to recon. Two man team needed to operate and can be brought close to the front for light indirect fire. Just reduce the range to say a kilometer and only a few shells as a balance.

    the issue with it is that we never really got the epic close quarters stalingrad maps we hoped for and that were promised. instead we got bad eastern front maps except for maybe kharkov.
    that is the only one beeing actually somewhat decent

    As a support main & level 9 flamethrower, I say I have the same EXACT issues. I live it, but very limited to where I can maneuver or start letting it fire. In the other hand, I am on Xbox unfortunately so you can’t see it but I have gone in a 12 kill streak before ( got lucky and flanked up on a squad that led to a couple outposts ) 😂

    To be fair, its also a good psychological weapon Ive found. People tend to panic at even a game one. You can also take advantage of the huge distraction you are, so long as you dont mind likley dying.

    On console you have to kill 10 enemies without dying with the flamethrower for the trophy!! It’s ok in some situations, like buildings for example as well under bridges as you can flame enemies by burning what they’re stood on from below. I don’t think many people have the trophy. I do have the one for killing 100 enemies with it though.😊

    You are shot before the flame even reaches the target.
    The flamethrower should have instantaneous suppression if you ask me.
    That, and its actual real effective range since it doesn't do much in an FPS game.
    The flamethrower shines the best (no pun intended) when you suck at aiming, you're dealing with multiple enemies, or you're holding an entry.
