Yes, but be aware that some skills have heavier autonomy tuning than others when it comes to sims Liking them, and it may cause sims to stop whatever they're doing just to train those skills, even at inappropriate times.
@@SageArdoryes! My sims who like dancing will literally stop everything they're doing when a stereo is turned on to go dance, even when they're fun need isn't very low.
I can attest to the distraction factor. I don't tend to experience it, though, until I get a long way into a Sim's life...having picked up a lot of likes and maxed a lot of skills. My Werewolf often tries to sneak off and workout when he's supposed to just be working. 😂 I tend to activate the basics at the beginning: Cooking, Handiness, Fitness and/or dancing, then a hobby like cross stitch, I almost always pick writing off the bat b/c it has so many applications...then I pick a science related one (rocket, programming, or gaming), performance related one (singing or comedy) and an instrument and leave the rest unchecked. Same with fashion and music: I'll pick a few basics that fit the character I'm aiming for and let them decide others for themselves in-game. Leaves a surprise for me.
I've always made my sims make multiple servings of a meal to save time, but it still bothers me that they don't have the option to heat up any of the leftovers. Like they're just eating cold hamburgers and cold spaghetti straight from the fridge lol.
So true! It also bothers me that whenever a sim eats a meal from the microwave, they ALWAYS get a bad moodlet from it. Why even put a microwave in your sim's house if it decreases their quality of life??
Pro tip: When you're in live mode, you can just click on leftovers and drag them into the fridge to save the time and clunkiness of having your sims do it. Also you can do the same thing with dirty dishes using a sink or trashcan depending on what it is. Did it on accident once and now I save so much time!
@@emmaaustin123If an object stops workng correctly, try deleting it and buying it again. Rarely,, an object will be so glitched that you need to delete it, save and exit, reload the game and then buy the object again
tell me why I have been playing this game since the year it released and I have not even once considered upgrading the bed to get better energy. You're the G for this video 🤟
“Fresh Chef” is your best friend, with this trait your food doesn’t spoil, as long as you don’t hire a maid you can set up breakfasts areas & dinner on tables so that your sims can grab fresh muffins in the morning & a slice of pizza for dinner on the go. It also pairs well with your bakery’s & food stands when your selling food to your local foodies😂
Another great way to clear negative moodlets faster if you have Parenthood is to have your sim get the Emotional Control trait. This is an easy one to get because journaling maxes it in no time.
You can get a jump start on this in Toddlerhood by "playing with emotion" with certain toys, and on the child prodigy violin upon hitting childhood...which will also raise music skill at the same time. By the time the Sim reaches childhood, using the journal will just be a measure to re-balance the meter if it gets lowered through those rabbit-hole interactions with the kid's school.
Some of these just sound like genuine good life advice. Getting into the right mood for the thing you're trying to learn, listen to music while studying, watch TV while exercising, cook a bunch of food at the same time so you can eat multiple meals only having to cook once etc
The one thing I'd add is to exploit the auras of objects - if you want a particular mood like focused or inspired, activating an object with that aura can make it much easier to get in to that mood. A good number of these objects can be crafted, like painting a mathematical diagram when focused will create a painting where you can activate a focused aura
Not sure if this is only bookworms (why would anyone not be a bookworm) but my sims gain fun at an incredible rate while reading skill books. Then when they are using some skill afterward, there will often be a prompt asking if it is safe to say that they like that skill. From then on they will gain fun just gardening, repairing and upgrading, programming, or whatever useful thing I ask them to do. It is rare for me to see a sim's fun dip below 90% during their adult life.
One thing to note about the reward traits: for me personally, I never give my sims the "hardly hunger" or "never weary" traits. As I say, "hardly hunger hardly does anything." It does slow your sims hunger need, but not enough to be worth the points. I always save up to get the "forever full" trait. That one basically stops the hunger bar from going down permanently and is a huge time saver. On the other hand, making a sim "never weary," which stops the energy bar from going down, often leads to disaster for me. Because when your sim never sleeps, it takes twice as long to get though a day. Which can be really annoying, especially if you have other sims in your household and don't want to disturb them by leaving with the never weary sim to do stuff at night. The "seldom sleepy" trait is better since you end up sleeping every few days or getting a few hours in the early morning. Makes for a better game play
I use seldom sleepy for both the parents so that someone is always awake (they get filthy rich if they can spend all night writing every other night). It's also great for getting house stuff done. I use one of the parents to do all the cooking, upgrades etc, and the other to farm for money by writing, painting etc
ngl, I play a lot with vampire sims, so I usually have one or more sim up while the rest sleep (i like to do mixed families). I have my vamp sims work on skills or homework, or take care of their needs based on what the vamp sims need. It's always fun to have them build their skills so that I don't have to stress so much about them so I can focus more attention on the non-vamp sims during the day time.
Seldom sleepy is the best trait and I save up for it. It’s worth it to reduce the amount of times in a day a sim gets tired. I do also buy never weary or cheat the sleep need for my elders so they can get more hours in before they keel over 💀😅 Always welcome is great too cause you can simulate staying over at friends and family’s houses. I’ll often leave some sims at home and play with a couple at another sims’ house for a few days since I love playing with bug households
I made one of my Sims stop sleeping and instantly regretted it. I don’t want to have to babysit you all the time. Go to sleep and leave me alone for two minutes. 😂 It’s why I don’t mind rabbit holes. That quick break is really needed to keep me from getting tired
I sleep on upgrades so much, the only upgrades i really used was the self cleaning and never breaking ones on bathroom stuff. Bout to upgrade all of my sims beds rn
fresh fruit and or veggies in inventory to fill hunger bar when short on time or if hunger bar is dangerous low; particularly handy for toddlers, as they eat it immediately without needing to go sit. No dishes to deal with either. ~FM :)
I use the banquet table to feed my Sims. It's a couple hundred simoleons but if you put the food away immediately, you have up to 40 meals in the fridge at a time. I press serve all so there's variety.
Honestly i never get the traits like "hardly hunger", or even the ones that make the needs never run out cause its way too easy then. I think theres fun in keeping it hard and i rnjoy having my sim cook, but thats just me, these are great tips i forgot about the massage upgrade (its wonderful ill finally get iver my obsession of always using the most expensive beds)
I'm honestly surprised at so many people in the comments wanting to nerf the needs even more. Completely gets rid of the challenge. It's already so easy to take care of Sims. I do find cooking annoying on the Sims 4 (Used to really enjoy it on Sims 2 & 3) but I like the food options. So I give my sims the "Fresh Chef" trait with the cheat so their food never spoils, so I can have them "meal prep" by cooking tons of meals then not having to cook again for a while.
If you turn on the earbuds and just have them on, not listening, just on it will keep their fun up while they are doing other things and you can send them to school or work with them on to help keep their fun from tanking. My friend taught me that one. However if you have other sims and you end up having to use a loading screen while one of your sims is at work/school, it can turn the earbuds back off even though that sim isn't with you at the time. (Only drawback)
Manipulating the mood for increased skill gain: Thoughtful shower for inspiration. Browse the internet (eg browse art for inspiration) Drink tea (various flavors for various moods) Incense from Spa Day Decorations (focused painters can paint math diagrams, crystals have energizing aura, postcards from penpals can inspire etc) Wait, didn't I learn all the stuff I listed from PetePlaysIt? Spellcasters don't just have the needfixer potion. They also have a rejuvenating potion. And a repair spell to make their potions top quality and a copypasto spell to infinitely multiply their potion supply. (they also have the (grand) delicioso and scruberoo spells to skip cooking and showering) Yes, spellcasters are basically cheats on legs and that's why I love them. Every household should have one. Scientists with their science sera and various gadgets are basically non-occult spellcasters, so the science career is always an option to be considered.
If you want a Super Sim, it will come in the second generation; spend those satisfaction points to make a perfect and immortal Sim who can mentor that second generation without being distracted by it's own needs.
Carl of Carl's Sims Guide did one a while back that is still pretty relevant. The secret to a Super Sim is that you only get one on the second generation because you have to make a Sim that's capable of mentoring a child from an early age, meaning that Sim should have almost all skills at max. The best way I've found to do this with no pressure is to start with a Werewolf (picking a knowledge based aspiration off the bat so the buff is always active) since their aging is stopped altogether and they're hard to kill. With plenty of time, explore any wanted careers and university degrees, then I find it most beneficial to become an Educator. This will double the effect of mentorship as you can then mentor as with the purchasable perk but also teach about any skill you've mastered. Always be making clubs. Make one for the family unit, make a couple for the kid's groups of friends. By far the bast way to gain skill fast and passively. Then, create a baby with your preferred Sim, in your preferred way and make raising it priority #1. Hit all the Parenting books during infancy or before and by mid toddlerhood you should have gotten the top notch infant buff (choose a calm baby) and be able to directly control most of the child's upbringing for itself, especially by leaving food in easy to reach spots or loading up the kid's inventory with vegetables so it can feed itself. Follow the aspirations for family and it should lead you to raise a top-notch toddler. Have it join scouts and earn all the badges, use Parenthood interactions to discipline, praise, and guide and use the suggestions in the Simology tab to show you how to get the character traits in range for perks (relying heavily on the journal, musical instruments to unwind, doctor's playset and emotional control toy)...now you can use Growing Together to socialise with other kid's and bond better with parents (DO NOT miss out on building the Treehouse!) This is all fairly straightforward but very "grind-y"...although it does create some really good story moments that you don't have to create for yourself... but should easily get you to Highschool Years...which you could do without, but it does help with qualifications for Discover University. And that's the final step. By the time you get to highschool, your Sims learning capacity and skill capacity should be at levels that will make going to HS a breeze...like graduating as Valedictorian in less than a month easy...so University is just icing on the cake. I'd recommend a business degree as it guarantees passive income returns on investments for the rest of your game. I created a matriarch and patriarch and set them up in a sort of recreation of the X-mansion (X-Men) where I take in teen roommates or adopt kids and raise them to be amazing! : )
Currently doing a Super Sim... She currently have ALL the reward traits and have about 50000 unused satisfaction points, maxed out 5 careers, maxed out all base game skills and several from DLCs and mods, completed all artistic aspirations, most of the knowledge and nature ones, have two degree, about to complete the Villainous Valentine aspiration, spell caster with all perks and 30 points left and know most spells and all potions, is a 5 stars celebrity with the unforgettable trait,... Got her age reset using a potion and giving the Reaper a Reaper toy from Nifty Knitting as well as with a serum from her scientist career. Yes, Top notch toddler, all 4 base game kid aspirations completed, scout activity to level 5, and 3 of the Growing together ones.
@@Kualinar The hardest aspiration to complete, for me, is Neighbourhood Confidante; the other Sims call randomly and you need to have the aspiration active for your advice to register...so I either have to pause every time a call comes in and switch aspirations right quick or I have to leave it as the only aspiration and just wait for calls. 😄
@@BinaryJoe Yes, that one is a bummer. It IS possible to register SOME ticks on that aspiration, but it's crazy hard to do and don't even work one in 10 times. It demands a LOT of social interactions with a single Sim, asking him about EVERYTHING and offering advises relative to that Sim's interests and situation. Always hit & miss, with mostly misses. I've completed it twice. ONLY possible on long life span as it WILL take more than the total life of a Sim on short life span, and, on normal life span, your teen may be an elder before completing it.
If you have the Growing Together expansion I highly recommend completing childhood aspirations since the reward traits will be useful their entire lives. They're pretty quick to do, too, so if you're playing on normal lifespan you can knock out 2 or 3 of them very easily. Artistic Prodigy gives the Creative Genius reward trait which makes all adult creative skills level faster (painting, singing, music, writing, etc), Rambunctious Scamp gives the Physically Gifted reward trait so fitness levels faster, Social Butterfly gives Socially Gifted trait which levels social skills (comedy, mischief, charisma) faster, Whiz Kid gives Mentally Gifted which boosts all mental adult skills (logic, rocket science, fishing, handiness, etc). Completing these also gives about 900-1000 satisfaction points each so you'll be able to buy some of the reward traits mentioned in the video much earlier.
I like to make my sims watch tv as they eat and its been pretty helpful in keeping their hunger and fun needs high. I also usually opt for the channels that boost some skill like the cooking or comedy as its a good way to build some skill passively. I also sometimes make them interact with others in between if their social is low but I find that it makes them eat slower lol
Oh my, I am old school. Now that you pointed iut some really good ideas, I won't be so strict. Like making do homework with no music, ir running on a treadmill and no TV. Sims are in a different world 😂
My two favorite reward traits are always welcome and the seldom sleepy (the other need booster traits are nice too). I like big households but I get overwhelmed when they are all cranky so what I’ll do is visit a family member (often with my legacy heir) and just stay over for a few days as a guest. I’ll also host parties at other sims’ houses or get an “airbnb” (a generic lot type that’s a house). With the always welcome trait the household wont get mad at you so you can do whatever and take a break from your sims. Also when your sim is off the lot, always change the lightning bolt over their picture to build skills when they dont need to boost their needs. It actually does build skills. The need booster traits like seldom sleepy and hardly hungry are nice cause sims will need to sleep/eat/etc less without ruining the challenge of the game
My sims get up, someone serves breakfast, usually the person who woke up first. Then when they’re done, they pee and brush their teeth because that helps with hygiene but you don’t have to shower. Then I make them check themselves in the mirror. Another mood boost. Then they go to work or whatever. I usually try to get a snack throughout the day. Not always. Then whoever is available first after six makes dinner. They eat, toilet, shower and bed. This trick makes sure they never have to have a low moodlet throughout the day. I never have to interrupt a conversation to go pee, never too hungry to do anything and never stink middle of an outing.
My Sim is in the path to an astronaut, to get promoted, he needs to improve logic and fitness constantly. I placed the chess table near the desk where I keep decor I got from work that increases focus. I always put the workout machine near the shower for brisk showers, along with the gym rat trait. So another is utilising decor like mysims trophies and promotion rewards to complete tasks faster and to add a vibe to a specific room. It works both ways
One tip that I use is clicking on the icon next to their wanted need so they go to where they need to go without you having to find everything. I have no idea if that made any sense
If you're really having problems with the needs, even after this, there's a cheat to fill needs. I sometimes do that when things get just a little too hectic (or when you're making a story plan where they need to be alone and their social need is getting too low.
Idk if it works for other moodlest, but when my sims are sad because of someone's death I make them play basketball. And somehow it drastically takes the time off it. You can take 2 days of sad moodlet in few sim hours.
My favorite thing aside from these is to have Sims brush teeth for a confident buff, psych self up in mirror does the same. Cloudgaze or stargaze for inspiration and fun.
For everyone that might need this To get to the cheat bar on consoles (xbox and ps as far as I know) you have to press the bunper buttons (the buttons which are the farthest away from you) simaltanious (at the same time)
You're so right about the no needs decay reward traits. I've been playing with one Sim for years in TS4 and have basically reached the max of everything (money, multiple careers, reward traits, etc), including the traits that stop all her needs from decaying. It's useful because she owns a retail store full of crafted items but it's also gotten SO boring. Now I'm just trying to have her do everything like take all the uni courses, all distinguished degrees; reach the top of all the careers, complete all aspirations. She already reached the 9,999,999 Simoleon limit and it got even MORE boring because no matter how much cash she brought in, household funds wouldn't go higher. Thankfully, there's a mod to increase the limit, and a bunch of other mods that add more careers for her to do. But it all feels too easy now. I should not have bought those reward traits LOL
I'm pretty good at taking advantage of moods, multi-tasking and the queuing system, so if I were to use any of the earned traits I think my game would be too easy for me. But I didn't know the upgrades for the beds/showers did so much, I think I might actually make my sims get more handiness lol!
Even though socializing while doing boring things is a great way to get social need up, it will slow down whatever you're doing a lot. Just having the loner trait or a social need reducing reward trait is much more effective.
The clubs from Get Together can also give you the Rally the Troops ability. That fills Bladder, Hunger and Energy all at the same time. The club itself should help with social and fun, meaning Hygiene is the only real need to worry about. You can also usually get whatever mood you want just by choosing it from the clubs menu after you've spent the points for it. You can also get some great stuff following the Science career from Get to Work. But if you really want to play Sims 4 in easy mode, just get Realms of Magic and become a spellcaster. They pretty much get the best stuff from both clubs and the scientist career.
These are all good. You can also watch TV while using the weight machine and multitasking is great for getting influential conversation in during meals, just make sure not to queue up any physical interactions that interrupt the meal. You say it's tough to get up to lvl 6 handiness, but your tip of getting involved in upgrading defeats that assumption...folks just have to start small: begin by creating a few things on the workbench and then start upgrading the plumbing and that should give one ample momentum to get to lvl 4...from there it's just a matter of funds for parts. On that note, spending time writing and sending it off is a great way to generate passive income even in early game; the entrepreneur perk and buff and a business degree or career will also see a Sim get passive investment gains throughout the rest of the game. Mentoring is a great way to quickly up skill. Get the available Perk and/or, in a multi Sim household, get one of the parents to enter the education career which allows them to actively teach other Sims any skill which the teacher has mastered, further cutting down the time to acquire skills for future generations.
@@ajcambern Good to know. I've never really taken a good look at the programs b/c I didn't know about this till someone else in these comments also mentioned the TV shows adding buffs. Thanks for reminding me, too
Isn't there a lot trait that makes everything break every night, giving you tons of handiness practice? The way fixing things goes in the sims is that you get money out of the waste generated by fixing things, so you'd sort of get an income that way. Makes no sense, I'd really prefer they'd change that
@@limiv5272 Yes, the Gremlins lot trait will have them break things at night. Repairing objects, however, gives you parts that you scavenge from the debris, not money, to use for further upgrades, which is good. I'm not sure if you can sell those parts, but I don't see how it would be bad if you could seeing as how it presents both options of not having to pay for more parts (which you'll always need) or getting some extra cash as well as skill points by repairing objects. I think you've misunderstood what repairing and scavenging for parts do.
@@BinaryJoe You can sell upgrade parts IIRC, and even if you couldn't, scavenging them would still save you having to buy some for your next upgrade, hence free money. My issue with this is twofold: 1. It's unrealistic. In reality, you'd have to buy new parts and materials, invest money, in order to repair something in your home. 2. It's one of many things that make getting money in the game way too easy. I mostly just build in the sims, but whenever I play I always wish it was more of a challenge
What I love about the upgrading beds is that sometimes you want a particular bed because it fits the build, and upgrading means you won't have to buy the most expensive bed/item every time which would make your houses look very same-y.
For skills since you did bring up expansions, Dine Out you can make a restaurant menu that has snaggle fluster. Vampires, they get a perk that works with night owl that boosts skill training at night. And Get Famous has the crystal helmet. I used all of these together to boost a massive amount of my sims skills, and since he was a vampire he didn’t suffer from negative effects from snaggle fluster and the Crystal helmet.
The bed upgrade blew my mind. I can now get the bed I want even if the look isn't my favorite. You know how you might want a specific bed for the sim cuz that's the type of bed they would like/fits the aesthetic you're going for but the energy ratings are terrible? Upgrading the bed would totally solve this!! Thank youuuuuu
Tbh I have the UI cheats extension mod so I can delay needs for as long as I can. Very useful for when they can't sleep long/good enough or when they are at work and can't fill their needs so I give them a little boost. Also extremely useful for dates and when I hang out with lovers without having to break a conversation by going to take a shower. Those are very useful tips though. I use lot traits but I didn't know each skills was faster with a specific emotion. I'll try to keep that in mind, thanks :]
I hate short term memory loss and if I keep a break from sims I forget absolutely everything I have learned🥲 this video is now saved in my sims 4 playlist because I had forgotten most of these things😂😂
Massage upgrade on beds is great, and improving the mattress firmness make your Sims wake up in a much better mood. Gym Rat is good for ANY Sim. Now, they have fun exercising and will often do it autonomously, improving their fitness skill and preventing them from getting fat. Artist studio improve the skill gain of all creative skills, and also improve the quality of crafted things. If you play a multi-generation family, make sure that your toddlers build their skills as much as possible. All at 3 give him the Happy toddler trait that will slightly improve his skill gain. At 5, maxed, it's the Top notch toddler that greatly improve ALL skill gains for his entire life. Completing any of the kid's aspiration will give him a special trait that improve his skill gain in the appropriate category. If you have Spa Day, kids tend to like practising yoga, and build their motor and thinking skills. The more things your Sim like, the better his mood. You don't want them to dislike things unless you want to have some miserable Sims...
I know that I might be lazy when it comes to building and CAS stuff. If it's in my sim’s aspirations I could do it or do it just for fun! I really love the painting skill! It makes me money so much faster than anything else!
When my Sim has low hygiene and social, I just make them Woohoo in the shower. Also, swimming can increase hygiene while building fitness-sometimes (sometimes hygiene goes down and I don't know why/when/what triggers the increase/decrease hygiene while swimming).
the fact I'm using the earbuds meta which lets my sims work hard at their work rabbit hole and gain fun instead of losing it makes me sad it wasn't mentioned
Ty for the tips Imma level up my sims handiness skills so I can upgrade furniture I already added the composting container to the toilet bc that's the best upgrade in the game
pets are also the easiest way to get up fun and social. Petting a cat or dog when your fun is in the yellow or lower will give it a significant boost, and playing with a laser pointer for cats or playing with dogs can simultaneously raise both needs pretty quickly.
If you don’t want to gain the skill for upgrading items, you can create a Sim that acts like a “manual worker” in real life, upgrading everyone’s items in other houses.
I've done this before, and the sim started autonomously upgrading things. That's how I discovered the bed could be upgraded. She started upgrading her mother's bed unprompted.
I feel like making single servings of food is only useful if you're actively trying to level up your cooking skills. In that case, use the Chef's Kitchen lot trait, and it'll give you a pretty decent boost of cooking skill every time you cook, even causing you to jump ahead entire levels in the lower levels. So you could cook a bunch of single servings of food until you reach level 10 (or whatever level you're looking to reach) and then do group meals
Likes and dislikes can be readjusted in CAS after creating, which makes it very handy to have them love gardening when they do and love the cheap items when there is less money in the household.
The Wishing Well is a fantastic thing for skills 😂 make a 5k Donation and then later that day wish for Skills and you'll hit level 3 in a random skill. Make Donation. Go about your day, wish in the morning, Donation, repeat until skills are maxed. If you need money Garden flowers. Hire a gardener to take care of it and sell every day. You can easily make more than 5 k a day early game.
Yes that TV and working out is good because you can have them watch the cooking show at the same time and then they learn to at the same time of their skill building
Bit late to the party here but, If you have Cats and Dogs you can Complain About Problems to them and it'll really drain a Tense Moodlet. I got rid of Burnout pretty quick this way. Also Children can make Potions at their little lab, and even give them to others, that instantly fill Hunger.
Whenever I need my sims to get their skills up I always make them overachievers, idk the percentage it helps by but it usually takes a lot less time than without the trait!
aside sending your sims to bed with high social and fun needs as they don't decay while you sleep unlike bathrooms and hunger which do decay while you sleep. so when waking it is just toilet shower and food before work cause your sim still has full fun and social hence better work day result and quicker promotion or success for whatever task you have them doing.
If you use the grim reaper cheat on your sim it turns them into a reaper and you only have to worry about their social and fun levels cause the other levels stay full and don't drop, and since they don't sleep they don't need beds, so it saves room if your house only has one bedroom or one bed, and have a night wraith as a roommate, the night wraith will need the bed to sleep in and to cry in, and if you get the reaper job mod, your reaper sim can get a job reaping souls, and when a sim dies your reaper sim will show up instead of Grim, even Grim needs a break now and then, Reapers have a lower version of their own voice, and teens and older float like Grim and have the black trail, children and toddlers walk instead of floating but still have the black smoke trail, not sure if infants can become Reapers or not, but they would be too small to reap souls anyway maybe a bug that wonders into their crib, but that's about it, also reapers never run or jog like the other sims do and they don't swim, if you have them jump in a pool they get out right away, but they are definitely easier to take care of than other sims, as long as they socialize a bit and do fun things they're just fine.
I just fill the need bars before they get too low like in the yellow. I fill them in when they’re green except for sleep, because then they won’t sleep all nigh.
If your sim doesn't have the cooking skill, buy them the buffet table, you can have a variety of servings that you can put in the refrigerator, and you can store the buffet table in your household inventory until you need it again, which saves space.
If you use the earbuds in The Sims inventory and click turn on music there fun will go up as long as it's a station that sends prefer. Make sure to just click turn on and not listen to.
My spellcaster is pregnant by Simeon Silversweater right now. Lemme tell ya, that Plentiful Needs potion is a freakin' lifesaver! She has the Seldom Sleepy and Hardly Hungry traits, but that means exactly f*ck all when a Sim is pregnant.
I do all the upgrades, and I also like making my sims werewolves. That way they can pee anywhere, hunt their own food, groom themselves, and sleep anywhere, all for the low, low price of the occasional mindless rampage. I also make any sims I regularly play quit their jobs. There are too many ways to make money in game to mess with having them be unplayable that often.
A couple of things to note. One is Likes and Dislikes. I always give my Sims Likes for mundane daily activities like Cooking, Handiness and Gardening because it helps keep their Fun up while doing necessary day-to-day tasks. I rarely ever have to go out of my way to have them do something specifically fun. Besides multitasking, there's also multifunction. For instance, watching the Cooking channel builds Cooking Skill and fills the Fun need at the same time. Also, some items build multiple Skills simultaneously, like the Bonsai Planter. Trimming it builds both Gardening and Flower Arranging at the same time. It's worth seeking out and using these items, and they can also restore Fun if aligned with the Sim's Likes.
When creating Sims in CAS, you can just make them like every single activity so they gain fun from them each time.
Yes, but be aware that some skills have heavier autonomy tuning than others when it comes to sims Liking them, and it may cause sims to stop whatever they're doing just to train those skills, even at inappropriate times.

Complete the Master Chef aspiration and leave that food on the counter as it no longer spoils.

Ikr! I always do that but sometimes I feel bad for my sims "Imagine if I had to eat the same cold meal for a whole week?" lol
Pro tip: When you're in live mode, you can just click on leftovers and drag them into the fridge to save the time and clunkiness of having your sims do it. Also you can do the same thing with dirty dishes using a sink or trashcan depending on what it is. Did it on accident once and now I save so much time!
It feels like to me (I haven't done proper experiments) that dragging dishes to the sinks breaks them more often.

“Fresh Chef” is your best friend, with this trait your food doesn’t spoil, as long as you don’t hire a maid you can set up breakfasts areas & dinner on tables so that your sims can grab fresh muffins in the morning & a slice of pizza for dinner on the go.
It also pairs well with your bakery’s & food stands when your selling food to your local foodies😂
i NEED this trait my sims food literally expires like every hour

Another great way to clear negative moodlets faster if you have Parenthood is to have your sim get the Emotional Control trait. This is an easy one to get because journaling maxes it in no time.
You can get a jump start on this in Toddlerhood by "playing with emotion" with certain toys, and on the child prodigy violin upon hitting childhood...which will also raise music skill at the same time.
By the time the Sim reaches childhood, using the journal will just be a measure to re-balance the meter if it gets lowered through those rabbit-hole interactions with the kid's school.
Such a good mention! Thank you for sharing this Sabrina :)
If you have Spa, yoga is also an AMAZING way to build emotional control for children and teenagers.
Agree! My kids would be in abysmal shape if I didn't keep a focusing element on the kitchen table/desk where they do homework
I do also buy never weary or cheat the sleep need for my elders so they can get more hours in before they keel over 💀😅
Always welcome is great too cause you can simulate staying over at friends and family’s houses.
That quick break is really needed to keep me from getting tired
he alkeeady mentions this and thinks it makes the game boring
I sleep on upgrades so much, the only upgrades i really used was the self cleaning and never breaking ones on bathroom stuff. Bout to upgrade all of my sims beds rn
The bidet upgrade for toilets and soap dispenser for sinks give awesome and fairly consistent buffs!
fresh fruit and or veggies in inventory to fill hunger bar when short on time or if hunger bar is dangerous low; particularly handy for toddlers, as they eat it immediately without needing to go sit. No dishes to deal with either.
~FM :)
I use the banquet table to feed my Sims. It's a couple hundred simoleons but if you put the food away immediately, you have up to 40 meals in the fridge at a time. I press serve all so there's variety.
wow! is that from a pack? I don't remember seeing this table!
@@maiararviegas luxury stuff pack I believe
Honestly i never get the traits like "hardly hunger", or even the ones that make the needs never run out cause its way too easy then. I think theres fun in keeping it hard and i rnjoy having my sim cook, but thats just me, these are great tips i forgot about the massage upgrade (its wonderful ill finally get iver my obsession of always using the most expensive beds)
Instead, just upgrade expensive beds. The effects stack, so your sims can rest up in no time
@johntheherbalistg8756 I actually started doing that recently
I'm honestly surprised at so many people in the comments wanting to nerf the needs even more. Completely gets rid of the challenge. It's already so easy to take care of Sims.
I do find cooking annoying on the Sims 4 (Used to really enjoy it on Sims 2 & 3) but I like the food options. So I give my sims the "Fresh Chef" trait with the cheat so their food never spoils, so I can have them "meal prep" by cooking tons of meals then not having to cook again for a while.
@@Digital111 same i love that trait
If you turn on the earbuds and just have them on, not listening, just on it will keep their fun up while they are doing other things and you can send them to school or work with them on to help keep their fun from tanking. My friend taught me that one. However if you have other sims and you end up having to use a loading screen while one of your sims is at work/school, it can turn the earbuds back off even though that sim isn't with you at the time. (Only drawback)
That's how mine survived university.
Manipulating the mood for increased skill gain:
Thoughtful shower for inspiration.
Browse the internet (eg browse art for inspiration)
Drink tea (various flavors for various moods)
Incense from Spa Day
Decorations (focused painters can paint math diagrams, crystals have energizing aura, postcards from penpals can inspire etc)
Wait, didn't I learn all the stuff I listed from PetePlaysIt?
Spellcasters don't just have the needfixer potion. They also have a rejuvenating potion. And a repair spell to make their potions top quality and a copypasto spell to infinitely multiply their potion supply. (they also have the (grand) delicioso and scruberoo spells to skip cooking and showering)
Yes, spellcasters are basically cheats on legs and that's why I love them. Every household should have one. Scientists with their science sera and various gadgets are basically non-occult spellcasters, so the science career is always an option to be considered.
expensive traits are useful in long run if you have more sims ,like family or some type of group .
If you want a Super Sim, it will come in the second generation; spend those satisfaction points to make a perfect and immortal Sim who can mentor that second generation without being distracted by it's own needs.
You should make a super sim let's play series using your tips and tricks 🙂
I want a Petey LP so bad!
Have it join scouts and earn all the badges, use Parenthood interactions to discipline, praise, and guide and use the suggestions in the Simology tab to show you how to get the character traits in range for perks (relying heavily on the journal, musical instruments to unwind, doctor's playset and emotional control toy)...now you can use Growing Together to socialise with other kid's and bond better with parents (DO NOT miss out on building the Treehouse!)
This is all fairly straightforward but very "grind-y"...although it does create some really good story moments that you don't have to create for yourself... but should easily get you to Highschool Years...which you could do without, but it does help with qualifications for Discover University.
Finally, I’m getting a lot of tips to take care of my sims way more easier 🥰 Thank you!!!
Petey I love looking at your builds in your guides. The rooms look so nice, I want to download them all the time!!
For everyone that might need this
To get to the cheat bar on consoles (xbox and ps as far as I know) you have to press the bunper buttons (the buttons which are the farthest away from you) simaltanious (at the same time)
Petey, without you I probably would've stopped playing this game a long time ago. Thanks for all your helpful videos!! ✨
Thank you so much for the kind comment Galaxy! :)
Get the available Perk and/or,
in a multi Sim household, get one of the parents to enter the education career which allows them to actively teach other Sims any skill which the teacher has mastered, further cutting down the time to acquire skills for future generations.
You can also start the handiness skill by watching home improvement tv.
My issue with this is twofold:
If you choose 'cook together with' when cooking, the meal will yield 12 servings which is very useful if you have a big household 😁
I really appreciate the helpful tips you give in all your videos! Thank you!! ❤
Actually love this channel so much! love the format and always learn something new that makes me want to open the sims IMMEDIATELY! 💚
I know that I might be lazy when it comes to building and CAS stuff. If it's in my sim’s aspirations I could do it or do it just for fun! I really love the painting skill! It makes me money so much faster than anything else!
One of the aspirations from Spa Day (can't remember which one now), allows the sim to "Have a moment of clarity" which clears any uncomfortable mood.
Cooking group meals saves time but their cooking skill goes up faster when they have to cook every time they eat. So it's a trade-off.
Every time my sims sat down for dinner I turned on the tv and made them watch the cooking channel.
Well if you are going for a long game you might consider the cooking aspersion. Food will never spoil and be excellent quality every time.
When my Sim has low hygiene and social, I just make them Woohoo in the shower.
Also, swimming can increase hygiene while building fitness-sometimes (sometimes hygiene goes down and I don't know why/when/what triggers the increase/decrease hygiene while swimming).
I've been playing Sims for over 20 years, and I didn't think of so many of these tips! What a helpful video, instant sub ❤

for me your are the best!!!! love all your video!!!! very needed I'm playing for like 20 years and discovered so many things in your video!!!
Wow thank you for this! And I really appreciate all the time and effort that clearly went into this video!
pets are also the easiest way to get up fun and social. Petting a cat or dog when your fun is in the yellow or lower will give it a significant boost, and playing with a laser pointer for cats or playing with dogs can simultaneously raise both needs pretty quickly.
I've been ignoring the upgrades because I thought they were useless. Thank you opening my eyes!😃
This is the best self care content I've seen in my life.
This is so helpful! Loved it
Did you already make a video where you describe all the tv channels that help you with a specific skills?
yes! I love having my sims watch Julia Child on the cooking channel haha
First time I'm hearing of this. Thanks for the tip, my TVs are often very under used.

Awe shucks thank you so much FormerlyTable! I really appreciate the kind words!
ty so much for this video! I have been playing for years and could not figure out how to add lot traits (i know, I could have just googled it lol)
You can easily make more than 5 k a day early game.
how do you get garden flowers and is it a specific flower? how do you sell them
sometimes i don’t like when my beds are too good at restoring energy because then they barely sleep lol
Yes that TV and working out is good because you can have them watch the cooking show at the same time and then they learn to at the same time of their skill building
I think fully upgraded sleeping pod is kind of cheat to maintain needs easily.
Great tip that's not shared enough. Buying a sleep pod for any student Sim is VERY powerful, doubly so when upgraded.
Ooh such a cool tip! Thank you for sharing this :).

Whenever I need my sims to get their skills up I always make them overachievers, idk the percentage it helps by but it usually takes a lot less time than without the trait!
aside sending your sims to bed with high social and fun needs as they don't decay while you sleep unlike bathrooms and hunger which do decay while you sleep. so when waking it is just toilet shower and food before work cause your sim still has full fun and social hence better work day result and quicker promotion or success for whatever task you have them doing.
i always upgrade stuff but i hadn't even thought about upgrading the bed :o
I was todays years old when I found out Petey was on Australian Survivor! XD I love your content Petey
This is really helpful, thank you!
You can upgrade the bed??? Best sims video I've ever seen.
Omg, thank you so much for this video!!
Guys! Don't forget about Tiny home lot! I think it's the fastest way to raise skills and relationships
If you use the earbuds in The Sims inventory and click turn on music there fun will go up as long as it's a station that sends prefer. Make sure to just click turn on and not listen to.
Petey is awesome!
3:03 - you can actually also grab it yourself with the mouse and drag it into the fridge.
*takes notes, bookmarks for re watch, meanwhile mind is blown📝🖥🤯
Get your sims infected with the bizzare fruit. It's amazing. The mother will take care of your sims 😂 Meet us at the crater!
Your builds are so good, are they on the gallery?
They are! My gallery name is the same as my RUclips name!
Thanks!@@PeteyPlaysIt
Wow thanks for the tips
