  • In this lesson, I discussed the benefits of listening to improve both your English fluency and accent for your call center job. I also explained why it's the technique that all non-native English speakers should focus on above reading, writing and studying the grammar rules.

Yun yung quick meeting/ discussion before or after your shift. Usually about reminders, new policy or updates sa account that agents should know. When your team lead shouts, "Hudde, guys! ", you should crowd together (either standing or sitting) to listen/ ask questions.

Even tho I have been here a long time, sometimes I do still have an accent but everyone does especially those who’s from the down the south. Remember writing is different from speaking. Not the same. I very much agree. I've always been ahead in English compared to my classmates even since we're in grade school. When writing essays or doing oral recitations, i noticed that the difference between me and them is that I just casually speak it while they try to translate every single word then patch them up to form a sentence. I guess the factor that made the greatest contribution is that I grew up watching English movies and listening to English songs. Listening really helped a lot, it felt like the language just naturally grew on me over time.

Absolutely!. I learnt French too through listening. At first, someone taught me, one on one, but she gave up because I couldnt learn, the prononciation was just too hard, so I gave up. But when i started to listen, i started to talk until I became fluent in it☺️. Native french speaker were even amazed and telling me, " tu parlez tres bien francais, huh" where it means "you speak very good french, huh'. Theres a lot of filipino there, eventhough, they learnt french too, they just couldnt pronounce it well. So I believe, through listening, you will learn faster, and it will make you fluent. So try it, guys. It wont fail you. Just keep on listening then practice it, and you will be fluent in it too.

I think you did great at your job, I lived in canada 🇨🇦 for 14 years and work in a contact center, but you speak better than me particularly your accent it’s amazing how you deliver it, and it’s true in contact centre you need to speak same as the client , because English is not our first language and it’s not easy to adjust our accent, those people who gave you a negative feedback never worked in a contact centre, keep it up I admire you 😊

About 10+ years ago I learned English with my Philippine teachers online and I was in China back then. The teachers in Philippines helped me a lot. Right now I am a call Center agent in Canada and working together with my coworkers in Philippines as we have call centres both in Canada and Philippines. I am so used to Filipino accent😊.

Thank you for the tips, I'm still working out my fluency in Speaking English. Especially that my account is a Voice account and your tips would help me to enhance my fluency in a different use of method. Your insights are also amazing and very true. You're one of the channels that I'd followed in youtube related to call center because your videos and the topics you shared was indeed really helpful. Thanks a lot and God bless you miss. 😇🤗

Yes, I used this like a podcast and just listened throughout the video HASHAJSHAH. But now that I realize it, it is true that listening can help. The youtubers that I watch and the stories English-speakers share on Tiktok have helped me be more comfortable speaking the language even before I learned that listening is great for improving your English. Thank you! I've been watching for the whole week now and loooove your accent! 💛💛

My training will start this week as a work from home, my account will be based in florida, meaning i am required to speak fluently in english although i already have a call center job for 6months, only that i was handling domestic account, so its very seldom that i i'd receive a foreign calls, i worked for PAL btw, and TAGALOG was mostly used during that time. Your video boost up my confidence to speak in english with some touch of accent. Keep it up! 😊 and wish me luck😊

Yep. Spot on and same thoughts here before I even watched this video. Schools have heavy emphasis on reading, writing, and grammar over learning to speak a language. When I worked as a call center agent, my first call trainer at my first call center job helped make my English speaking skills better. A big thanks to her for making me more confident in speaking in English and helping me neutralize my accent.
There's nothing wrong with not having an American, Canadian, or British accent. However, we Filipinos when speaking can end up committing miscommunications. E.g. "I saw a bat" might end up sounding like "I saw a butt". Most Filipinos can't distinguish the difference in the pronunciation of the two. Also words like "tree" and "three", "to", "too", and "two", and so much more.
Personally for me, learning to listen well to differences in sounds of words and being able to speak better English is slowly but surely helping me in my journey to learning other languages. I am learning French and recently, trying to go for Chinese. Chinese is so tough with its tones especially when your listening skills aren't that good. But a big thanks to being a former call center agent which greatly honed my listening and speaking skills and utilizing the different parts of my mouth in speaking like the palates, jaw, tongue position, etc. which will be helpful in learning other languages that are more challenging to speak than English.

Before I came across this new video of yours, I was actually planning to save your old videos and convert it to mp3 for me listen to it because I really love how you pronounce each word. You sound a lot like a native English speaker to me, which is my goal, too.
And everything that you have said on this video is making a lot of sense because I had this one subject before during my early college days that teach us how to speak english fluently, and I have to say that you and my teacher says almost the same thing about learning the language that listening is really important in acquiring a certain accent - that it is really different from reading. Also, he was the one who advised me to save english videos and listen to it as if it is a music. In addition to that, he mentioned as well just like you about repetition and consistency. ❤ So I'm going to give you a thumbs up for that.

I agree with you about forget the formal English. I'm a native Spanish speaker and I worked for a completely Spanish Call Center and we don't use the formal Spanish to talk to customers all the time, maybe the first seconds of the call but when customers feel comfortable they start to speak casual spanish and I think it's just the same with English speakers
