Designed in the 1940's and 1950's. Built in the 1950's and early 1960's. Most are retired but over 70 remain (H-Models). The Air Force says the B-52 will do the mission called upon until 2050 and beyond. It is simply incredible.

US Diplomacy is awesome. The soviets / russians hate this particular aircraft that can change its course in a second. Russian military leaders and their air defense radar operators know once B52's are airborne they can travel into any hostile air space. Some may endure battle damage and be shot down. However, once their on-board cruise missiles are locked on , targets become neutralize quickly. Although, they're not stealth, B52's have outstanding sophisticated jamming systems. Which confuse defenders with decoys. It's no wonder this platform has been around over seven decades.

You're right in what you say about anti aircraft weaponry, but I think Mid 29's and SU30's are a different story. The US would need to have total air superiority and escort fighters and I cannot see that happening over Russian airspace. Mig 17's and Mig 21's are not fighting F4's or B52's trying to avoid basic SAMS anymore.

The B-52 Stratofortress is not intended to be used for incursions within reach of enemy air defences, but to be used as stand-off weapons carriers. The theory behind this is that the B-52 airframes are supreme in terms of payload carrying and the required software to operate such weapons can be easily added to them. Therefore, the B-52 is an ideal platform for this role: able to carry huge payloads, able to loiter at high altitude fir a long time, and able to launch long range cruise missiles/ munitions without coming into the range of the enemy.

In whatever way we want to look at it. This war shouldn't have started in the first place. Human beings are meant to resolve their differences through dialogue. War is a huge expense. It is very easy to start a war, very difficult to end a war, very difficult to recuperate after a war. Up till now, the North and South Koreans are still arch enemies based on the bloody bitter war they fought. Current example; Iraq, Libya and Syria. War destroys diplomatic relations, war creates hate among people, war destroys a country's economy, war isolates people from peace. War is not a useful tool to resolve conflicts. Not in this day and age. I wonder how the United Nations Security Council goes to bed at night knowing the situation the world is currently facing.

Yes, the United States Air Force operates B-52 bombers that are equipped with cruise missiles. The B-52 is a long-range, heavy bomber that has been in service with the US military since the 1950s, and it has been upgraded and modernized several times over the years to maintain its effectiveness. One of the B-52's most important roles is as a platform for launching cruise missiles, which are precision-guided weapons that can strike targets at ranges of hundreds of miles. The B-52 can carry a variety of different types of cruise missiles, including the AGM-86B/C/D, which is an air-launched cruise missile (ALCM) that can be equipped with either a nuclear or conventional warhead.
