i studied mechatronics because i wanted to be iron man
I remember that coming out in my second year of uni! It helped me decide to go towards Mechatronic Engineering (rather than other majors)!
the number one reason to go for mechatronic engineering degree xD
The Mechatronic Engineering is the future.
Even cars are becoming robots. Almost everything will be autonomous in the next few decades. I think that Mechatronics is the best Major actually!
Dylan Alvarez maybe robotics engineering too.
Awesome video dude. I want to know that among electrical, mechanical and mechatronics engineers, which engineers have the highest employment rate and highest salary in australia?
Hi, when I watch your video I felt that we have something in common. I am interested in Mechatronic Engineering but I am more into mechanical compare to electronics and programming just like you. But my dad said Mechatronic Engineering is too general. He said I may not be hired by some companies because Mechatronic Engineering is general. So, if I take Mechatronic Engineering with major Mechanical, can I work as a mechanical engineer?
I would imagine so, though since I never went towards straight mechanical work after uni, I don't really know! Though it all depends on how well you understand the mechanical based concepts - AND you could do your final year project in mechanical, which could give you a grasp on some topics that are in the full mechanical degree, but not the mechatronic degree (for me, I learned ALL about C++ in my final year project!). Also if you pick all mech subject in your electives that =should= cover most of what you would need to go into mechanical engineering with a mechatronics degree...
There are plenty of pros and cons to going through Mechatronic - some pros would be that you would have a slightly broader view than other mechanical people, and you could interface better with the electrical and software engineers! AND, you have the added bonus of working with robotics (which is where everything is going)... Though of course some cons would be that you are not getting all the subjects that a full on mechanical engineer would cover..
I think I disagree with your dad. I would say that a mechatronic engineer's general view on topics gives an advantage, in that I can potentially replace three engineers! Also, this would give you a much greater leap into management and that sort of area, since you have experience and knowledge in many branches of engineering (rather than focused on just mech). I have never found myself without a job as a mechatronic engineer - to me it seems like the perfect degree! PLUS, if you want to go on and be a patent attorney or something like that (as I am doing), the broad subject matter is an incredible benefit!
Best of luck with your studies, I hope you enjoy studying engineering no matter which ranch you go towards!!
Thank you.
Mechatronic engineering sounds awesome :D I my self am a civil engineer. Roads and rails :D That is my speciality.
Ah awesome! I have friends in civil, though I prefer the smaller robotics and mechanical stuff.. Bets of luck with the civil engineering!
I'm currently going to start a computer science degree, would it be advantageous to do a mechatronic engineering degree after it?
Im gonna study for mechatronics because ive always wanted to do robotics engineering when i was older
you mean when you was younger?
Hi, I'm very interested in Mechatronics engineering and I'm from India. Can you name the companies ehich hire Mechatronic engineers. And top universities for studying Mechatronics
Awesome video!! I would like to know the difference between automation engineering and mechatronic engineering? thanks.
To be honest - I'm not 100% really... I think there is a significant amount of similarity that the degree is inter-changable... I believe automation engineers are more based around processes and product line automation, while mechatronic engineering is a more broad robotics! So automation engineering is a more specialised version of mechatronics (though don't take my word as verbatim there haha).
What is common btwn MECHANICAL ENGINERING AND MECHATRONIC ENGINEER..And wt types company give job to mechatronic engineering..
Whats the salary range
Hi!!!
I am a graduate of bachelor in mechatronics in CTU..
I want to proceed mechatronics engineering but i dont have any money to pay.. do you have suggestion..
Hii
Broo BE mechatronic dept mostly job confirmed yes or no.tell me
You are fine with 3 years
do side jobs
What was your experience with mechatronics outside uni ?
+johny cooper When I finished up my degree, I started working as a Mechatronic 'installation' engineer for a company that made machines that made custom rugs! I would fly out all over the world and make sure these machines were put together properly and that the operators were trained. Unfortunately, this company went into liquidation after a year of being there.
My next job was doing CAD work for a company that made fume cupboards for laboratories, this company ALSO went into liquidation after a year and a half of being there..
Finally, I'm now a Sales Engineer with a company that sells industrial dishwashers and kitchen equipment. This company is doing extremely well, and is much bigger than the previous two!
In my first job it was very Mechatronic, second job more mechanical, now I've actually progressed more into sales, so things change!
Woo so I want to become a sales manager in automotive industry or mechanical.... Is it fine to select mechatronics?
Previously I decided to take degree in mechanical engineering than go for MBA ( so I can work as a mechanical engineering or in management side with sales manager)
So can I do this with mechatronics... Plus I had computer science subject in 11th and now in 12th grade
Hi, I'm so glad you made this video. I will be joining Swinburne for robotics and mechatronic degree this July. My dream job would be to work for Google Australia as a mechatronic engineer. However, every forum says that Mechatronic is not as good as Mechanical or Electrical. They also mention that there are no jobs for Mechatronic engineers in Australia. I was really let down by that. Is this even true? Do mechatronic engineers have an edge over others in job placements and what about pay? What do you think?
I think Mechatronic engineers have the best qualification to be a robotics engineer. But what about jobs for Mechatronic engineers in Australia? Thanks mate!
Hi Ruwantha, personally - I think that Mechatronic engineering has both good and bad sides.
Since it covers lots of areas, you do not get as 'in-depth' as you would with a straight up mechanical or electrical engineering degree... So if you want a job that is dedicated in mechanical engineering, or electrical engineering, then go for the more specialised degrees.
Mechatronics is BETTER though (IMO), because of it's broader coverage. You get to see how mechanical and electrical and software interact at a higher level, and this can make you an overall better engineer! You would be better at integrating with other departments, and you cans see projects from 'outside the discipline square'.
In terms of jobs, it can be a little tough, though I think that is the situation with any degree! So long as you are willing to learn at your job, and you demonstrate good knowledge, you will be in demand.. While my job history has been a little fraught with liquidations (companies going out of business), I DEFINITELY think my mechatronic degree hand a strong hand in making me have more of an edge over other engineers going for the same position. Many companies like to find one person to do the job of several people, so if you can demonstrate knowledge across multiple engineering fields, you may be able to potentially replace several engineers.
Also, I think that mechatronic engineering can absolutely help in defining the future of your career. Where other engineers with more straight up disciplines in mechanical, software, electrical, may have more experience in their field, their narrow degrees mean that they simply do not have much exposure to disciplines that they do not belong to. As a mechatronic engineer, you have exposure across the board, and as such would make a great manager...!
BEST OF LUCK with your degree, have fun, and ENJOY IT (as much as you can... Robotics subjects are awesome fun making robots attack each other or navigate around mazes haha).
And yes - to be a Robotics Engineer, it is VERY VERY helpful to have a mechatronics engineering degree!
Wow! I really appreciate your response. I also do think that having a broader perspective of engineering would make you a better project manager.
So as a mechatronic engineer were you able to find internships while you were doing your degree?
I would also like to keep in touch with you and get advice.
If your alright with it, let me know your contact details.
Thanks mate!
hi Ruwantha, im also thinking about entering the robotics and mechatronics course offered in swinburne , maybe after 2 years lol. can you share your experience in swinburne later then? thankyou😆😆
I wanna study mechatroincs engineering at university next year but soon I have an interview about this major so what you would say to me something help me in the interview if you please
I am not entirely sure what the interview is regarding - is this like an entrance interview where you can explain why you should be admitted into mechatronic engineering?
I would be as genuine as possible! People can pick when you are making things up, so be genuine and be yourself. Also make sure you talk about your interests in mechatronic engineering - what makes you interested about it, and have you done mechatronic engineer type things in the past? Have you ever played with robotics toys, created stuff with lego or k'nex or something like that? Or do you have experience in coding or electronics?
Also, as for any interviews, study interview technique, and study how to master your own body language! Breathe. Don't rush answers. make sure you give good thought to everything you say (though don't sit there thinking for too long!!). Don't say irrelevant things - be efficient with your words. Don't use time-wasting wording such as "um..", "uhh..", "basically", "effectively".. etc. Don't be uncertain about anything - be confident with your answers! Don't use an upward inflection in your voice at the end of your sentences - this makes you sound uncertain! And be yourself, be genuine. Smile. Relax - this isn't a be-all-end-all scenario!
Thank you too much
Hello everyone... I just enter a degree in mechatronic(because really want to learn how to make vector or BB8) but I have zero knowledge In it. I can still learn it right?
hi, i would like to know your opinion, i would like to study Mechatronics for bachelor and then study Physics, what do you think???
Hello, Thanks for this video
I recently completed my bachelor degree in Mechanical engineering in India...
And I am planning to travel to Australia in Feb'19 for education of masters in mechatronics...
I want some suggestions.
Will you help me please?
Thank you🙌🏼
Is it difficult to do masters in mechatronics for mechanical graduate like me?
Hey man would a mechatronics engineer also let me go into the military sector (not just the military tho also the public or private sector) of making not just innovating technology but also in radar systems infrared technology Doppler systems display systems and all that also including like aerospace designs and technology with helicopters and planes and idk the list goes on lol but would it open doors like that ?
I would think so! I have a couple of friends who have gone into navy (developing weapons systems and that sort of thing), and I have gone more into the private sector (developing machinery and robotics, and now into sales, and in future into patent law). You can supplement your interest in that sort of thing throughout your degree by focusing on those sorts of topics in your assignments (where there are open style research assignments), and in your internships (if you have these in your degree), and in your final year thesis / capstone / assignment! You WILL get there - if you believe in what you are doing and you have the drive and passion! GO for it.
can we do masters in automobile engineering after completing mechatronics engg. ?
hi .. i am studying mechanical engineering at PEC UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY but i am fond of programming and some electronics stuff , can i become a mechatronics engineer then.?
Absolutely! If your university has a Mechatronic Engineering course, you can transfer over to it, and then you will get the formal qualification for Mechatronic Engineering... This is the best way you could do it since you would get the exact proper training!!
Though if they do not, you could try to fill your electives with electrical engineering or programming, or even learn them in your own time. It would also be very very beneficial to learn embedded programming, and the interface between software, electrical components, and mechanical components. This would not give you a formal mechatronic qualification, but you would have effectively learned what a mechatronic engineer would know!
Have a look at the subjects required for Mechatronic Engineering, and tailor your learning to that. The Mechatronic Engineering course outline for UTS (where I went to university) is at the below link!
handbook.uts.edu.au/directory/maj03012.html
yes
What kind of robots can you build? Also I don't want to learn PLC. For me C++ and embedded systems are the way to go
Mostly I have worked with Robots trough university (maze navigating robots, and human-helper interaction robots). I have also worked with object recognition, and in my post-uni jobs have worked with custom rug making robots, air extraction systems, and dishwashers! Everything can be a robot!
As for PLC, I haven't used PLC since I was at Uni! Though I imagine for some jobs it would come in very handy - keep an eye out on position descriptions for jobs to see if it is a desirable skill, and avoid it if that isn't your strong point! I prefer C++ and embedded systems also.
I want to do mechatronic engineering. What do i need? And what can mechatronic engineering extend to?
Well, as with most other engineering, it helps to be good at Mathematics! It also helps to be good at conceptualising things, and being able to 'think outside the box' (see my vid here -> ruclips.net/video/Kt26qpGMI14/видео.html). It then depends on which area of engineering you are going into... But be prepared to learn as much as you can (and do your homework!). Check out the entry requirements for the university you are thinking of going to to see more about what you need.
Mechatronics can take you anywhere - the options are nearly limitless. You could become an engineer at the end, and work developing /testing robots... Or you could do installations, R&D, sales, or even go into Intellectual Property Law like I am!
Helloo there I wanted to ask that if I choose to be a mecatronic engineer then where will I have good job opportunities AND will I face problems for finding a job AND am I suppose to do something else after getting my mecatronic degree or just go for job? I am waiting for your reply.RIGHT NOW I FINISHED MY 10 GRADE........
Hey there! thank you so much for your incredibly useful video! if i may ask can i study mechatronics after transferring from a community college with an associate degree in Pre-engineering ?
I would absolutely imagine so!
If you can pass the tests to get into the university, and if you have enthusiasm towards learning engineering concepts (especially mechanical, electrical, software, and robotics), then mechatronics should be easily attainable! Mathematics gets a little tricky with some of the more advanced mechanical and electrical classes, but nothing too obscure - just focus and do the homework, and you'll be fine!
Hello mate, I'm from New York and I was wondering if I could communicate with you directly, I have a few questions and I honestly would very much appreciate if you give me a little bit of your time to answer some of my questions about this amazing field of study in which I'm seriously looking into and where I might be able to study it outside the U.S. Thank you very much, I will be waiting for your response, have a good one!
Hey, I am a mechanical engineer and i like robotics but not good at coding and computer based stuffs. Is it good idea to go fot mechatronics.?
Hmmm... If you like the robotics part, then your coding will get better... Coding is a large part of robotics, but if it isn't your strong point, that is OK - you can still focus on other methods of control (such as PLC), or you can focus on the design side of Mechatronics.. I would say go for the Mechatronics haha!
Hey man!!!
Can I get a job in a car manufacturing company after completing mechatronics Engineeing?
And what type of jobs(in industries) can a mechatronics engineer can do???
Can he/she be selected in a game producing company on the basis of Mechatronics(as it includes knowledge of SE)...???
can girls study mechatronics engineering? Pls give honest and correct advice.
Absolutely!!
While there is significantly more males than females in engineering, the discipline is not discriminatory! You can study anything you want! Engineering is very physics, mathematics, and logic based, so if you are good with those things, you can EASILY become an engineer.
yes off course. i am student of mechatronic engineer and you will be surprized that my class topper is a girl
Soon I will study mechanical engineering with mechatronics . Good luck have fun to me :) hihihi
