    I just put some clear silicone stuff over my Metal one, hopefully it just continues to work. Otherwise I’ll try your method.

      @@jaybman2700 I heard of people doing that as well, but it's more of a preventative measure than a fix in the way I see it. It should make the metal probe last longer, but I'd recommend calibrating the probe afterwards to ensure proper temp, though that should be done in any fashion to begin with

      Dang. I'll have to see if I still have the originals to reupload it.

    Thank you. Your video gave me the confidence to fix my broken Inkbird (probe was showing 150ºF+ constantly). You saved me $ and taught me something new.

      Thanks. Hope it worked out well. I just wish they just added the removable/replacable probe setup in the first place. That's one thing I look for now, and I know Inkbird does make ones like that. It makes it easy to just replace the most likely faulty part. I actually moved on from Inkbird. I still recommend them, but wanted to try another one with some other featrures.

    My inkbird stopped communicating with my keezer. It doesn't turn on. The voltages for heating and cooling reads 7.6v. Is this a probe issue or something else in the circuit board? The probe still reads accurately. Do you happen to know which part may need replacing?

    • @AquariumThoughts
      @AquariumThoughts  Год назад +1

      If the probe is sensing the correct temp and is not turning on the plug, I'd assume the problem is not a probe issue. I've only have had probe issues where it read higher than it should.
      But that's my guess.

    Thanks, very helpful. I use the Inkbird in a fridge for cheese making. The probe malfunctioned just as I’m about to put a cheese in the fridge, so I’m hoping Amazon can get a replacement probe to me quickety quick! (tomorrow) . Thanks again, Malc (UK)

    Hi Dave, I need your help. I bought an Inkbird ITC 308 thermostat with a short probe tip. I need to use the probe with the long tip instead. I have seen it on the internet and it costs around 15 euros. I ask you: how should I replace the probe / short tip with the probe / long tip since the current short probe is connected directly to the thermostat and there is no connection jack? Thanks for your answer

    • @AquariumThoughts
      @AquariumThoughts  3 года назад

      I'm not completely sure what you mean by long tip and short tip. I'm assuming you mean stainless steel tip and plastic tip? But this video is about replacing the temp probe which is directly attached to the thermostat and not an easy to attach and reattach connector, similar to a headphone jack. You just need to cut, strip and attach wires safely.
      Edit: I think I found what you are referring to which is a 12 inch probe on US Amazon. It appears to include the wire part to connect to the existing inkbird to retrofit it. I'm not sure what the EU version includes. Feel free to email me at dave@aquariumthoughts.com with a link to what you are looking at.

    I am getting an ERR code on my 306. How do I know if the problem is with the temp probe or something else?

    • @AquariumThoughts
      @AquariumThoughts  3 года назад

      My method would be too go through everything and try to eliminate the error. The owners manual didn't list a number of errors. One solution they list is to go into the settings and reset the time, though I'm unclear of what that would do. 🤷‍♂️ Maybe just go through setup and see if that solves the issue. Btw do you have the metal probe or plastic probe? I've had the metal probe ones and eventually water does get in the probe and causes issues, though with mine it only said the water was hotter than what it was.
      Edit: after looking at what video this was.. were you trying to fix the probe or was this just an inkbird that was having issues?

    Does this plastic probe work the ITC-308 or only the 306?

    • @AquariumThoughts
      @AquariumThoughts  4 года назад

      Without opening a 308, I would assume so. The only difference I've seen personally looking at the externals of the 308 and 306 is the 308 has a cooling plug and a heating plug. The probe and all plugs appear to be the same. Internally, it's obviously different in the aspect of the cooling option, but I'd assume there's no difference in the probe itself

    Has yours been used and working for three years NOT being soldered??

    • @AquariumThoughts
      @AquariumThoughts  6 месяцев назад

      I had it running for at least a year before I moved things around and didn;t need that one. Soldering probably would have been better and I probably would have used a different connector this time around if I did it again.

    You can calibrate the probe on the inkbird.

    • @AquariumThoughts
      @AquariumThoughts  6 месяцев назад

      You can calibrate the probe, yes. I wouldn't trust it to be calibrated if it was off by 20 degrees. Mine always failed "hot" as in it read as it was hotter than what it really was which meant for an aquarium, the heater just wouldn't go on, which really isn't that big of an issue for me but can be for some who have cold winters. I could probably get away without any heaters and did for a bit of time when I had my mbuna tank.
