- On the surface, it's easy to justify the popular Pokemon Card, Umbreon VMAX Alt Art's, rising prices.

Moonbreon symbolizes the second boom for Pokémon peek pandemic collecting that card is history my guy
It definitely represents that era and that certainly makes a difference. Thanks for watching 💪
The demand will increase over time when some of the kids who did not get them as a kid will buy them once they are making real money. It is the grail card of the SWSH era and now with SCVL being silver border, nope nope nope.
Oh man, you and I could not disagree more on the silver borders! I’m primarily a Japanese collector and I hate those yellow borders on English cards 😂
But I agree this is the grail of the SwSh era and you might be right that the demand will persist over time 😊
Underrated channel! I love what you say and how honest / transparent you are :)
Thanks so much, I really appreciate that and am glad you enjoyed this 😊
Wow those number comparisons are very interesting. Thanks for the info, insightful as always!
Right?? What’s crazy is that it might not matter: there could just continue to be so many more people who want the card 🤷
But thinking it through is really interesting to me and I’m glad you enjoyed it 😊
I think it is organic now. The early appreciation was based on rumors and influncer pumping. Although peoole keep saying it, Evolving Skies WILL NOT be reprinted. Collectors, once they buy or pull the card, it close into collections. My son pullled one in a birthday ETB. Sent it to BGS AND it graded BGS 10 Black Label. That card is in his collection forever.
Whoa, a BGS black label is a wild accomplishment, congrats! I also suspect it’s organic growth but I think the print volumes are uncharted territory and make me uneasy about the price.
100% I would hold any I pulled though, congrats again!!
I would be shocked if they reprinted ES but you can't say never. They reprinted sets this far out of print before and they could easily do it again. Especially if they want instant money.
@@XingCollectables It’s true: you can never know for sure. But it’s so unlikely at this point that I agree with you 😊 Thanks so much for watching and commenting 💪
@@tcgbuyersclub yea I doubt it but I won't say I aint praying on a quick PC restock I'm fast enough to grab lmao
@XingCollectables Oh man, if the PC restocked it would disappear in an INSTANT 😊 I would be chasing that too 💪
Demand on this card is crazy high, I doubt it’ll drop at all
You’re not alone, a lot of folks are saying this! Thanks for watching 😊
I'd buy 4 more if I could and idk why
Some are calling it the “modern Zard” and right now it feels like there’s some truth to that: supply be damned, there’s just never-ending demand for this card!!
I just pull my moonbreon today. Penny sleeve and top loaded. June 16th, 2024
Congrats!! I’m jealous 😍
Pulled mine last year after finding some random blister packs at Walgreens. There was only 2-3 packs hanging there, bought them plus a few more at another Walgreens a few miles away (I was on a mission). I couldn’t believe I was holding that beauty in my hands by the end of the night 🤯
Pulling a top chase card like this is truly an experience 🥰 I do not have a Moonbreon but I’ve been lucky enough to pull some great cards over the years and it never gets old. Congrats!! 🥳
And thanks for watching and for the comment 😊
I still remember the day I pulled a moonbreon, I bought the pack from Indigo (bookstore) and it was 1 of 4 booster packs I purchased because I saw Umbreon on the splash art. Have not touched Pokemon cards is maybe 10~15 years prior to that. I still have it, it's MNT Graded 10, I'm not letting it go because I love the eeveelutions, and I dove into collecting/opening more pokemon card packs since then 🤣
That’s such a great story 😍 What a way to return to the hobby and congrats on a great pull 💪
Also, I’m Canadian and very familiar with Indigo 😉
Thanks for watching!!
Underated channel, thnks for info
Thanks so much! I’m really happy you enjoyed it 🙏
The demand is real for the Moonbreon and SWSH alt arts. I went to the Minnesota Card Show in April and out of 450+ tables, browsing for almost 5 hours and talking to vendors, I only saw 2. One in JP in black label grade, and one in eng. I saw very few other SWSH alt arts, no Giratina V alts. Luckily I pulled my Moonbreon and Giratina, but it took over a year of steady ripping. Some vendors were not buying or taking in trades on vintage either and they were not moving like modern. I did grab a Charizard Base Set unlimited PSA 8 for $400 cash because they wanted it sold.
That’s great insight 😊 There’s no question the demand is there and congrats on pulling those beauties yourself, I’m jealous 😅
i picked one up at 1300 not because i like the card, but because its the poster child of S&S. those kinds of cards tend to have spikey growth way into the future. i can see it dropping for a few years once hype dies down and people find something to rave about in S&V, but only temporarily. that shining gyarados you mentioned is my #1 chase and its around 7k at 10 first ed, a bit hard to justify for me rn for a single card.
the giratina tho? im in love with that card, grabbed 3 at 750.
I can’t blame you for picking up those cards, and a lot folks leaving comments seem to agree they’re a safe buy.
I am clearly very unsure about where it will all settle in the end but I can certainly see these top chase cards continuing to go up over the long term!
@@tcgbuyersclub ya key thing is long term. i think they are overinflated and will drop in the short term. however, i dont want to take the chance in case im wrong. i always regret what i DID do less than what i DIDNT do.
@yura37 good luck 🙏
Personally, even though it's a giga beautiful card, since I never played Sword&Shield I don't have any attachment to the Gigantamax mechanic and therefore don't really care about VMax cards. For my collection I just want arts of the regular version.
But godspeed to any people looking for that big barkie boi.
I totally get that! I do think there’s something quite charming about the idea of giant pokemon that will age well.
But I don’t like it enough to pay the current prices and there’s a good chance I’ll just never have one now 🥲
Thanks for watching dude!!
I have 1 should I hold onto it or try to sell now while the demand is high, it’s ungraded but mint straight from pack to sleeve to outer case
Honestly, I’m not sure 🤔 I think if I pulled a copy I’d personally want to keep it. But, if you’re looking to cash out now feels like a great time to sell. I have no idea how prices are gonna look in the future though 😅
Thanks for watching!
I truly think the "modern" era is here. While I personally think that the Moonbreon will decrease a bit in price, I do not think vintage cards will carry the same value moving forward. I own a Moonbreon myself, and find the alt art cards of SW/SH absolutely gorgeous.
This is a great perspective, so thank you for sharing it 🙏
Something I has me thinking about is the fact that “old” does not necessarily mean “better”. The top cards from each era might just matter more. And as those top cards get older, they should become more desirable.
But secondary cards from those same eras don’t matter as much and them being older also doesn’t really matter.
I’m gonna keep thinking on this but you might be on to something here! Thanks for watching and for the comment 😊
I pulled this when the set came out and it’s kinda crazy it’s such a rare pull. I figured the value would sky rocket like this cause everyone loves umbreon and the card is just beautiful
It seems you figured correctly 😊 Congrats on an amazing pull, I’m jealous 😅
Good job last night!
Thank you for tuning in, I’m glad you enjoyed it 😊
If there were 50k moonbreons printed, you would assume that's alot of cards. However, let's say there were 1 million collectors who wanted it, that 50k would only cover 5% of that 1mil if each only had 1. We all want the card, so it's not going to crash until the amount of collectors do, maybe 15 years from now.
Yeah, that’s the sentiment shared by a lot of folks it seems. I certainly agree that’s the reason for the price today, and that the demand could remain steady (and even grow)!
It’s just an unprecedented level of both supply and demand, which makes it risky, in my opinion.
But thank you for watching and for the comment 😊🍻
Pulled a moonbreon, wanted to pull the rayquaza vmax but oulled the V, which I love as well. I also kept a case. I was somehow smart enough to hold a first run box, Non us/ca box. I would of thought it was fake if I didn't buy my boxes from my local store. I did get some off PC, too.
That’s awesome! You’ve had some incredible luck 😊 My best pull from Evolving Skies was the Batman Noivern V alt art. Not a ton of value but an absolute banger of a card in my opinion!
I’d happily take that Rayquaza V though 😍
Thanks for the comment!!
Just bought my Moonbreon bgs 9 italian card, i don't care about his future value, i think it is one of the most beautiful card ever made by pokemon company and i'll have it with me for the future decades
Congrats on the pickup 😊
Great exploration of the current Moonbreon market! I feel truly blessed that I do not like the card, lol. If I had $1k to drop on a card, there is a long list of vintage ahead of it.
Ahaha I appreciate the support bud! Vintage cards feel like a steal compared to these modern chase cards 😅
Vintage is nostalgic but has nothing on these modern alt arts when it comes to art, rarity at the time of pull, and overall wow factor.😊
@@jaimewinz the modern chase cards are really exceptional cards for sure 🫡
Over 10 thousands in PSA 10’s but there’s millions of people who still want that card including myself❤
That’s the demand right there! I’m cautious about it but it’s very possible there are always more people who want out than cards are available. Thanks for watching and for the comment 😊
Exactly
As I drop my younger seedlings off in the AM at a small private school, and notice every 👏 single 👏 kid 👏 has a folder full of pmon cards… it’s not hard to see where this is going.
@GiddyUpTime I love to hear it 😊
You guys I just pulled one 2 weeks ago from a tin I got from walgreens. They are the tins that either have a mimikyu a snorlax o darkrai and the packs are 1 bstars 1 fstrike and 1eskies. Also recently pulled the edpeon alt from fs from these tins. I think these tins are the last decent shot at pulling some good alt arts Including umbreon. The tins house the packs perfectly and the condition of the cards are amazing out of these tins from 2021 'knockout' tins. They are still readily available at some walgreens for 16.99. Happy hunting!
My dears, everything gets more expensive over time, even food. pokemon is number 1 general sales are sick. Even if it drops a little, over time it will become more expensive than anything else in the world. and the PoP up is extremely high which however shows it is popular like nothing else. 2020 was the turning point in Pokemon. a new generation is coming. Umbreon will be at 3-5k in 10-15 years and good BGS 10 5-6k. Black Label at 15-20K.
Our children today will have stable jobs in 10 years and then buy their childhood cards, and there is Umbreon like our Charizard back then. + Charizard was in every 2 boxes but Umbreon 50+ boxes. whether tomorrow or in 2 years it doesn't matter at all. The plan is 10 years and believe me you will wish you had paid 1k today. lg
You might be right 😊 Thanks for watching and for the comment!
I just got mine for 500 off ebay 3 days ago. Probably a grade 8 but I couldnt miss out. Havent seen one for that price since
That’s a great price for sure. Good luck if you get it graded! Sometimes you just never know what’ll it’ll get in the end 🤞
I'm not a fan of the moonbreon, but it would still look good in my collection, so I do want it.
I hear ya: I want it too! But when I sit down to work though the market, as I’ve laid out in the video, I do have trouble justifying the purchase.
Based on a lot of the other comments I’ve received though, I lot of people disagree with me so who knows, haha!
Thanks for watching 😊
I want it bad… I had the chance to buy for 550 but I didn’t pull the trigger….. to the mooooon!!!
I have alot of the other big alt arts soaring though so that helps ease the pain but man… I coulda doubled up $500 in 3 months lol….
It’s always easy to justify in hindsight! At the time, $550 for any new modern card seemed crazy! I made a similar decision with the Japanese version and always regretted it 😅
Thanks for watching!!
I bought mine a year ago for $600 because the seller told me this would happed.
Well, the seller was right, congrats!!
You do need to be careful with input like that from sellers though, because they’re motivated to say whatever it takes to sell a card.
This seller may very well have good intentions and he knowledgeable and honest, but no one can really predict the market, so I just thought I’d mention it!
Thanks for watching and for the comment and congrats again on your purchase 😊
@@tcgbuyersclub I ya for sure! Not going to lie I was hesitant to buy it, but I really wanted the card so BAD I said to myself well might as well get it now better than later. I had the money then so I went for it. Not what he told me made sense about it being tax season soon so that is what got me to buy the card then
I had the opportunity to trade for a raw one this weekend at 950, but seeing i would trading my PSA 9 JP Gold Star Gyarados i couldn't do it for just the raw Moonbreon in the chnace the value plummets. But he has a PSA 10 Moonbreon hes willing to trade for market value, which is appealing as atleast it will always be graded a 10. Tough decisions of cardboard lol 😂
Ahaha, those are very though decisions!! 😅 Personally, I’d keep that Gyarados - what a card!! 🙌
Thanks for watching and for the comment 😊
I will not stop buying this card anytime soon
You do you! A lot of people agree with you too 😊
Pulled a moonbreon, still open to paying current market for a psa 10. Mine might grade a 10 but i just don't wanna ship it.
Congrats on the pull! And you do you 😊 A lot of the commenters here agree with you so you’re not alone! Thanks for watching and for the comment!
I have one copy in a psa 10 and I would love to get more.
Very nice 😊 I hope you do 🙌
Pretty sure my last chance to buy it was 2.5 years ago, haha! 🤣
LOL I know what you mean 😭 Thanks for watching 😊
Just pulled one🎉
Congratulations!! 🎉 🥳🙌
I owned as many as 4 of these but sold due to losing jobs and crap but kept one. It graded a 9 and was able to trade it and 200 bucks for a 10 a few minths ago. No regrets at all
Hey, that’s great that you were able to use the cards to get through a tough spot. And to still have a PSA 10 copy in the end?? That’s awesome!! 👏
Thanks for watching and for the comment 😊
That's 4k right now omg😭
Nope not worth it. Hype, fomo and some manipulation. Buyout groups are very much a thing. I caught wind of a few private facebook groups doing buyouts on most of the holos back when the hype and fomo was going on with XY evolutions. As a result the singles market spiked and the booster boxes went stupidly high even after several new print waves.
Based on my comments, you and I are the odd ones out here! A lot of folks believe the card is worth it 🥲
I’m just starting to learn about the scope and impacts of manipulation but it doesn’t surprise me that these kinds of things go on.
Thanks for watching and for the insight 🙏
@@tcgbuyersclub I am just going off the reoccurring patterns and things I have seen over the years collecting in this hobby. It is amazing how much people collect or the most accurately hoard Pokemon product privately.
If there was 10000 of one car it would be a million dollars
That seems wild to me, but maybe I’m too conservative 😉 Thanks for the comment!
@@tcgbuyersclub it's all perspective and how you view numbers it's undervalued it's extremely hard to pull millions of people try to get it and there is only 10000 that's insane we're all throwing in the same pot here it's not like there is one for everyone and there never will be the first to act will benefit and the hesitant ones will have to catch the next boat the set is too big and way to hard to pull the whole set at this price point you would be working all week to buy a booster box to not pull it that's crazy just buy it and hold on like warren buffet there's no emotions in investing sit back relax and let time do its thing
@mikeflynn2940 Yeah, I understand your perspective and I agree it could play out that way!
Where this differs is my understanding of most collectibles markets where value is largely driven by true rarity - as in, 100 examples or less. I think time has shown that items like this that feel rare, because they’re hard to pull, but still have large numbers in aggregate, don’t play out well over the long term.
But, I think that analysis requires the demand for the category to change dramatically, which I don’t see happening in Pokémon!
So, for me, it makes me uneasy but I’m getting a lot of comments here from people like you who disagree, so you’re definitely not alone in this thinking 😊
@@tcgbuyersclub I got it for 180 when it first came out so far it's been doing what I expected it to do I got it graded it came back a 10 at this point I don't see it coming to where I paid so I can see how it's scary to pay 1500 for a Psa 10 copy but if you look at history it's always similar chase cards always age well in a Psa 10 case
My boss got Evo skies by the case I believe he got three or 4 cases and he pulled 1 umbreon vmax seeing that happen let me see how rare that card is don't let people getting lucky fool you lol that baby is few and far far between
Its all hype manipulation, the price will drop sooner or later.
Man, we’ll see! I’d be happy if it did 😊
Not over priced just too poor.
That me for real 😭 Thanks for watching!!
Theres much nicer umbreons for cheaper imo
I tend to agree 😊 But none of them carry the significance of the Moonbreon 🤔 At least, none of the other modern ones.
Thanks for watching!!
@@tcgbuyersclubi mean i personally prefer the Umbreon V and Vmax CSRs over Moonbreon anyday haha
As for pricier ones Karen’s Umbreon from VS is just better tbh
@rosettaaraara6633 oh man, VS is such a goated set 😍
And I agree the character rare Umbreon cards are slept on a bit compared to the Moonbreon! Prices on them have started to move now too, but they’re still infinitely affordable by comparison 💪
yeah and grading has become more popular so checking psa pop reports are misleading when comparing to red gyarados, also umbreon is a huge fan favorite with both guys and girls and is of if the first new eveolutions on top of what @joemate said.
It’s true that grading is more popular but, due to the age of older cards, it’s far less likely that even if many more started being graded that the number of 10s would increase anywhere near where the Umbreon is.
It just means the difference in condition rarity is an interesting variable here.
There are in fact of ton of the unlimited Shining Gyarados already graded at 4.2k, but only 1,000 of them have a 9 or better 👀
Anyway, thanks for watching and for the comment!
Also yeah I pulled in in a random pack that was sitting in my closet for 4 months, card is dying with me lol
That’s actually so sick, congrats!! I’m mad jealous 🥲
