Nice setup (again). I like your TV install. Since theres two of us, my wife and i place the TV on the toilet bench, and she sits on the left, and im on the right (side of the camper. We also keep the TV up on the bed when traveling. We did get a cargo net and stretch it across the camper at the foot of the mattress. It keeps light stuff from falling off the mattress. We even have a couple hooks mid way to keep the bottom of the net more secure. Heres a tip: I've been so frustrated backing the truck straight into the camper, never get it right until i had the idea of tilting my left and right mirrors all the way down so that i can see my rear tires meeting the ground. I then can easily back up, watching the equal disatance from each rear tire to the jack stands. It works so much better. I was about to sell the camper until i learned the tilted mirror trick. We're going from SoCal to Arkansas in a few weeks with our 2018 F250 and 2022 620. We're staying where we can plug in because it's going to be hot. The main concern i have is driving in high winds. The veterans say I'll get used to it, but it racks my nerves. Any tips?
Hey again, thank you so much for the tips and suggestions! I’ll have to give the mirror trick a try. High winds can be very dangerous. I’ve got thrown off my motorcycle a couple of times riding in semi high winds. Living in the windy state of New Mexico, I’ve gotten used to dealing with the winds, but I still hate it. If the winds are predictable and consistent, then you can plan your trip a little better and no when to stop. The random unexpected gusts are what get people in hot water. I try to make it a point to never be on the road if the winds are > 40 mph. I usually keep an eye on the semi trucks in front of me to see how they react with gusts, and learn from their mistakes. The best advice I can give is, when in danger, no when to slow down or stop. Be safe out there!
Hi Brian, thanks for sharing the video and update on the mattress. I definitely agree the new 2024 model is great with the larger solar panel, lithium batteries and port for added panels. The skylight with functional window definitely sounds like a plus too. I was looking at a new 2021 that was still on the dealer lot last fall. I ended up missing out because I was looking at trucks and was struggling with the 1/2 ton not actually being ideal to haul the camper around loaded with gear. I do remember the youtube tour of the cirrus 720. It was awesome with the woodwork and sliding shower/toilet area as you walked in. I've seen them forsale on Facebook marketplace once in awhile. I would recommend a shower tent and just use your outside shower connection. Keep in mind that would totally suck if you were winter camping, then use the wet wipes. People I've watched and seen have used the yellow square level blocks. They look like giant legos and you can put them together and slide them between the truck/camper. If I find the name I'll leave it for you in the comments. How do you like the New Mexico state parks? I hear they have a great deal with their yearly state park pass. Look forward to your next camping video.
Thank you for the tips and suggestions. I do use a pop-up shower tent when it’s not too cold. When it’s cold, I use a washcloth with a tub inside the camper. I’m really not one for State parks, but I do like them on occasion. I had been wanting to check this one out for a while, so that’s why I went. Most of our developed campgrounds are still closed due to snow. I prefer disperse camping overall. Take care!
I have a newer GMC ('23 GMC 3500HD 6.6L Gas SRW, 4x4 with Multi-Pro tailgate). Are you able to close the tailgate completely, therefore when lowering the tailgate taking full advantage of the Multi-Pro tailgate step to use as an entrance step to camper? If so, that is a great combo option with this camper and the GM trucks with the Multi-Pro tailgate. Was that one of the reasons you chose the 620 (I believe it may be one of only a few hard side campers where the tailgate of a shortbed truck (6'-9" bed) can be closed. It just appears to me a match made in heaven, as it no additional camper boarding ladder needs to be carried, stored, set up.
@@socalangler951 Hello, the main reason why I wanted a smaller camper is so I can close my tailgate. It really came down to the Cirrus 620 or the Scout Kenai. With the Scout, I don’t think I would’ve been able to close my tailgate. I like the Scout Olympic, but it doesn’t come with the toilet. I love the Cirrus 820, but it is just a little too large. I’m hoping Cirrus will bring their 720 back. Take care!
@@Brian.A.Simmons I also like the 820. What are your thoughts on the Lance 650...it does have a wet bath and a side dinette. If I get one, I plan plan on purchasing used. Right now...Cirrus 620, 820, Lance 650, 825. Tough decision, as I currently have an Outback 250RS TT that is 25' when towing, but has a rear king bed slide that turns it into a 30' when bed is extended...also has a side dinette slide. Plenty of comfortable room! I like the TT option as I like to travel, camp, fish, and visit nearby towns that are close to campground. I can leave TT and still use truck to travel to fishing sites or towns. I don't do any boon docking (although I may try it), and typically stay at state campgrounds. I plan on visiting NM maybe this summer.....ABQ, Jemez, SF, and Farmington, as I have family in all these cities.
Nice vids Brian. Found your site because I'm researching and considering buying a 620 to put on an F250. Wondering how it feels on dirt roads with being so high? Have you taken it down some rough NM roads yet? Im in Taos so know you will eventually if not yet 😅 also wondering how it is being so high with cross winds on the highway? I have not had a truck camper in thirty years Thank you, Mo
Greetings, I haven’t take it down any rough roads and probably never will. I want to take of it and my truck in case I sell them. As far as winds go, I haven’t had any problems. This is a great little camper that packs a punch with tons of amenities! Take care.
Save the rough roads for the 450 🎉 really like that 620 but having a tricky time figuring out how I will tie it down to aluminum bed ford, seeing as you can flex the truck bed just by grabbing the oem tie down points. Maybe strong enough for a light motorcycle 🤔but not an overhead camper. For some reason Cirrus only put ratcheting straps for tie downs on the 620😮 Torqlift tech thought one could go to the jack bracket since they need to be strong enough to lift the camper. Hoping to figure it out or might be looking at the Lance 650 🍻
I’m seriously looking at this camper on a 1 ton GMC AT4. Did you need the riser to reach the ratchet straps or is it just easier? I feel like this on an off road truck would pretty high already. Thanks for putting these videos out and I love that the tailgate comes in handy.
Greetings, you don't need a platform, but it makes it much easier to access the ratchet straps. Also, having a platform allows easier access to store things in between the camper and truck bed. The higher the platform, the easier it is store things. All you really need is about 2" though to access the ratchet straps more easily. I have a video on my platform that has more information.
I added a receiver hitch to the front of my truck to haul my motorcycle. That is how this bumper step is mounted. Here’s the info: www.amazon.com/stores/GoRhino/HitchSteps/page/963F847F-6042-47DF-9741-14CFE3BB07A0 store_ref=bl_ast_dp_brandLogo_sto&ref_=cm_sw_r_ud_ast_store_451KZHQJPCECBX8MERMP

Camco level blocks. I've never personally used them, but I've seen others use them and they have good reviews online.
Go Treads pack in a small case and do double duty as levelers and sand planks.

Is that a step on your front bumper? If so can you give me the info on it 🙏

Can't wait for my 620! Getting it in a few weeks here. Is that a 3500?
Yes, it’s a 1 ton. Congrats on your purchase! The 620 packs a punch with lots of features.
What truck are you using? Is it a 1/2 ton?
Greetings, No Sir. This is a big boy. 1 ton SRW.
