If you look into these kinda bowed harps you'll find different variations throughout the world. For example there's a Finnish instrument called Jouhikko and a Celtic one which I believe is called Crwn, there's also one from Sri Lanka which name I have forgotten but I saw Heilung use on one of their shows. Tagelharpa itself has it's root in the baltic area, Estonia/Latvia
People often associate the tagelharpa and it's cousins as Scandinavic and think it's some sort of a Viking instrument because of how it's used in movies and fantasy on TV but if you want to get to know these kinda instruments better, you might have to explore a bit ^^
I love the tagelharpa. It’s the kind of instrument that doesn’t punish people like me, who have big beefy fingers, so anyone can learn to play it.

The best group of drummers I've ever experienced in person... also heavy weapons fighting, and tons of shenanigans. I strongly suggest you start going every year for the rest of your lives.

I use black horsehair strings, and blonde horsehair for the bow.
The bow I use actually is the bow I make for my instruments (I have a small workshop, on this channel I use and play the instruments and models I make :D)

Do you play other instruments or is it the tagelharpa your first one?
I am sorry it is a banal question, but is your bow well treates with rosin (not too little, not too much)?
Concerning the tutorial unfortunately, the modern versions of the tagelharpa can be very different one by another, from maker to maker, for dimensions, strings, tuning, way of playing... it is hard to have a guide that can be good for every model.
Unfortunately the only person who can give you precise advises in this sense is your maker, who knows your instrument and its characteristics.

Hej from an Estonian Swede!These talharpas (also known here in Estonia as hiiu kannel) are gigantic! And they sound soo deep as a result. Our traditional ones are usually much much smaller.
