Oh mu goodness! I thought I had found my spreadsheet and then here is this one! I really wanted to make better star ratings this year and I love how you weighted this because sometimes the writing and everything is just fabulous but I just dislike the book LOL I will be giving this one a try as I also love your other details. This is simply amazing thank you so much!!

Do I use a reading spreadsheet? No... but am I watching this anyway because I'm a spreadsheet nerd? Heck yeah! Also, because I spend so much time staring at my company's spreadsheets that I'm sometimes blind to what I could improve, it's useful to hear someone else talking about theirs in a completely different context (I.e. something I'm actually interested in) to give me ideas 😂 think I can claim this 18 minutes back as work time? 😉📚

I finished my first book today and I'm literally so excited to go and log it on this new spreadsheet!!! Thanks for putting all this work into it and sharing it with us 💜I'm sure I've told you this before but your spreadsheet/system is the first one where I didn't have to do a ton of rating adjustments at the end of the year. It just feels so accurate.
ALSO I love the added author breakdown and quarterly stats sections!

This is such a cool spreadsheet! Spent a few hours filling it in and I am loving seeing the result. I like your rating system, I think it will help me rate books more accurately for the rest of the year. Only info missing that could be useful for me is language, since I read in both French and English. We'll see if my Excel skills are strong enough to add that item to the compiled stats.

I make the blanket column a reviewed button - since one of my goals is to write and post a full review for every book I read
I made the Video Project column a Heard About column - current options are RUclips, Instagram and other, so I can track where I'm getting my recommendations from

Just yesterday, finish my spreadsheet and a friend point out I didn't have a method to track dnf's and your video pop up. I like it yours, it's so simple, mine is a "little" more complicated. I like how you track your rating, enjoyment is more important than worldbuilding or character, those can be perfect but if you don't enjoy the reading, it isn't good.

Thanks for sharing with us. I'm having a slight problem getting half star ratings. Even though the score is 7.33 which should be a 3.5 its only giving it a 3. I put the same number into last years and gives me the 3.5. I tried imputing some of my reads from last year that were half stars and again it just gave me the whole star.
Last year I created a half star version as well as the full star. This year I did not

I was just coming back to comment this same thing. If there was a half star version like last year or some advice on how to change that myself.
honestly its a lot of work to do half stars, and I dont use them so this year decided not to make one. you would have to change the formula for the star ratings which you do by opening those little arrows that are closed. you could use last years spreadsheet to do that and pretty much copy and paste. The harder part comes on all of the stats need to then be changed to make room for your half stars.
That does sound like a ton of work! Totally makes sense when you don’t use half stars. Thanks for the tips, I may try messing around with it and maybe I’ll learn some things 😂
Loved last years spreadsheet. It was so fun to write down all the info and see it all at the end of the year. Also copied last years to reuse this year, but i can't wait to transfer the books i have already read to this new one and use the new features. Thank you for creating it and sharing it for people to use 🥰
Hi, Does anyone know how to add a genre category on Sheets on an android phone? It does not have the drop down with an edit pencil at the bottom as shown on this video. It has the list of 14 genres, a keyboard icon that you can click and write whatever, but it won't be added to the list, and the next time you click on that cell it says that the content violates the cell's validation requirements. I read several categories of non fiction, including cookbooks, and I wanted to tailor my copy of the spreadsheet. Any help? Cheers 💙
My suggestion would be to do it on a computer. Then you should get the drop down menu.
