Can't believe Valrak got the beta cancelled...
@@cookiedudegaming I heard him say that not only did it, but that did just so others couldn't play it. He then kicked my dog and stole from a baby.
The beta prestige is so 2004 when people thought when they participated in a beta were actively testing and improving the game when basically the game was wholly complete and the “beta” was a glorified demo.
Especially with the quality lowered and the prices increasing
Having been part of the QA team on a AAA title from a few years ago, this is largely correct. Though, depending on the game and developer, the game is likely not wholly complete. The game I tested for had a multiplayer beta a couple months before the full release. At the time, I can't speak to the dev's time, but at least on the QA side it took 10%-20% of the QA team away from testing the full game to test specifically the beta. The beta itself was a selection of about half the weapons/abilities/characters and about a quarter of the maps from the full release, but it was more like a vertical slice when compared to the state of the rest of the game at the time. The dev team did get some valuable testing data from the beta, but it was server load type data, almost nothing end-user generated, as everything in the beta on the game side had been excruciatingly thoroughly tested before the beta started.
So, again, just because a game has a beta doesn't mean the game is anywhere near done, but it is true that most betas provide little to no benefit to the developers other than the focus to get certain things done early.
In some cases that is true.
Can't blame a community for being dodgy about any game that releases without a chance to test it.
No beta means no pre=order, but I'll be keeping an eye out for the reviews though 🤞
The freaking bot comments are killing me 😂.
PURGED!
@@ChapterMasterValrak No beta means the devs can work on the game more, which is better and the specs are obvious to me- a 3070 card or higher can handle this no problem and I'm a gpu nerd, that's what I would recommend, but I bet even a 2070 or higher could run this game 1080p 60 because there is also this thing called DLSS that boosts Nvidia cards and thier cards are the way to go. If this game is too much for 3070 or a 2070 with DLSS 3 then Focus have a problem.
@@DrangusKahn DLSS is just an upscaler to enlarge small images to a bigger image. AMD has FSR which does the same thing. It doesn't boost the card, it's a way to fake the output size for GPU that are too weak to render at the native or chosen resolution.
Gaming industry recently ( last 10-15 years) taught me to be sceptical and wait for reviews.....and sales.
Yep. For example it was blocked from buying in some countries - and voila, available
Yet they have put out on their steam store that an open beta is cancelled, or at least no longer planned
Imagine how fed up Drama-rak must be with all the drama, pushed by the drama-farmer-lamas, that he has to make a video (definitely not drama) addressing the drama.
Truly circles within circles
Drama? There is no drama. Saber Interactive literally stated that there would be an open beta this year just before the game releases. A demo and a beta are completely different. Beta's test server load, data infrastructure, and how efficient the server client is running. Demo's just show off a game's core mechanics. If they have cancelled the open beta, which was actually scheduled for July/August, then that's a massive mistake. Every successful live service game that I've ever played has had an actual open beta.
He must be having a slow day and wanted to manufacture drama.
When I saw the article saying that a public beta had been cancelled my first thoughts were "wait, when the hell did they announce an open beta?" and "surely they'd have tied beta access to preorders and I sure as hell didn't see that on the store page".
Thanks for keeping people apprised Valrak
Sorry for the double video spam.
Can we have a 3rd video apologizing for the double video spam?
CURSE YOU, SPAMRAK! _{shakes fist skyward}_

Complaining about betas is beta.
2:30 no brother, there was a public beta announced. You could register on it on their website since the first trailer appareance, which I did. That was not closed beta, it was a public open beta.
this is Shilldrak my friend this guy is over hyped everything what GW offer
yeah man me too but in this case I can guarantee that there was 100% a public beta, and him saying in this video that “there never was one”… Wont make any good to the situation
edit: maybe it was not a public one, but there was a beta to sign up for
@@Aegis. wake up
are you going to elaborate or this is your daily chat routine with randoms
That was not the public beta, that was a sign up for the closed beta, because people got selected from that and tested the game, you are talking incorrect information.
IGN has made an article on it and says that saber has issued an apology for it.
No announcement of system requirements, despite everything else they've announced, makes it seem like they're hiding the bad news.
excatly, i know i wont be able to run it. however i want to know so i can buy specs already
Because of Darktide i'm NEVER pre-ordering any game ever again ⛔
Because Payday 3 I'm never pre ordering ever again
Because of (game name here) that launched in a bad state, I’m never pre-ordering again.
Seriously, it’s like 95% of games.
Funny enough though, Darktide is good now.
Fair enough but it's a long way from being the worst offender.
And Darktide is good now, it just had a really long beta.
Me too I also pre ordered cyberpunk… never again
@@HeroOfTheWeb Lmao it's not.
I would much rather they put all their resources into smoothing out the game at launch than allocate some for an online BETA.
Besides they already tested the game at events across the USA.
Beta's are quite important for testing a game on different hardware (developers will only have access to a limited pool of different configurations) as well as stress testing servers. The amount of online games that failed on Day 1 because their servers were badly configured or didnt have enough capacity is huge. Private Beta's are usually inadequate for stress testing and sometimes miss hardware problems as there isn't a large enough statistical sample to for example notice that a constant crash will occur at a certain point with people with X graphics card and Y processor rather than it just being a random crash. I agree that people unjustly nowadays expect a public beta to act as a demo, though thats partly reflected in the prices of full price games.
It was a beta to test out their multiplayer servers. That's a lot different than "testing" them at events.
Valrak vs PC Gamer drama lets go boys!!!! Start the twitter war
War implies there’s another side to this… PC Gamer ain’t gonna understand why they’re getting so much traffic with no benefits.
I heard henry cavill cancelled the beta because of the beta males in amazon making gw do female custodes.
Trust me, my father works at Nintendo
There have always been orc custodes
The fact you could still sign up for the Beta on the focus site doesn't help them at all.
Reality - the current ‘pre release’ betas are not true betas, they’ve been a marketing means to get the most cash from fans. Real betas come with NDA’s and vetting (knowledge, skill, and having the target hardware).
This.
Any other “Beta” in recent years has just been to bolster hype and get early “honeymoon phase” praise going. None of the supposed collected feedback would get into these games at launch. A pure and simple marketing gimmick, if anything it indicates to the company an estimate amount of players/sales and if their infrastructure is up to snuff but even that usually doesn’t lead to a better day 1 experience.

Saber isn’t confident in a Beta release as they know if people’s systems can’t run the game they won’t buy, Space Marine 2 will probably be plagued by performance issues on PC that won’t fixed so they’d rather pull the rug on PC players after they make the purchase.
This exactly
I don’t want to be that guy and correct you but the closed beta wasn’t given out to everyone who signed up for it, I was one of the people who signed up to the PS5 beta and I never got to play it, that’s the reason why people who didn’t get to take part in the beta who signed up get the new Bolt Pistol skin that got announced
And just to clarify, I signed up to the beta test they day Focus announced it in August last year, whenever it was
I never said it was given out to everyone, I said it was a Beta that happened that people did get to play, some not all :)
@@ChapterMasterValrakoh okay, fair enough… I thought they said it was open to everybody who signed up to the beta, didn’t wanna cause confusion or arguments online like others have here 🙄😒

Is it sad? Yeah I really wanted to try it. I missed the conference in Dallas, TX where that was the one opportunity to try. Do I want a demo? Hell yeah I do. I mean they put it as a sign up 3 years ago. Am I going to be as mad? No. They didn't tie it to a pre order like COD has in the last few years so I didn't feel like I was lied to for preorder numbers. That I can respect.
I went to fan expo where they had it, it looked really good.

Are the pics missing from the BA video in this one?
Yeah, Valrak is being honest here compared to pc gamer and other publications. As someone who looked into and signed up for beta I concur, the sign up was for a closed beta that focus would contact you to participate in,. The point is awareness should be spread around this game that there are no indicators that the devs are hiding something and they deserve our trust based on the explanations of their passion for this project in their dev diary. False rumours wrongly harm a game and we don't want that because we want this game to succeed so there is more content produced.
The Amazon 40k series wasn't cancelled, it was just a closed beta
What 4chan rumors does to an mfer.
Hello, Can i ask one question? Why didn't the loyalist space marine use claw+bolter combi weapon? Was that weapon forbidden technology?
So they don't want to release a demo/open beta because they want to polish stuff?, isn't that the entire fucking point of an open beta?... you get to know what needs fixing/polishing before release.
Everybody knows, you skip open beta and the servers are guaranteed to cack themselves when it goes live day 1.
Could it be possible that they HAVE cancelled the beta test to stop people who have already pre ordered from getting a taste of the game in case there PC can’t handle it AND they feel inclined to withdraw there pre order cause there systems can’t run it if that’s even possible? Just a theory
making a beta is expensive (money and dev), it's not as easy as it seem to make one. I just think it was deemed too expensive
I know most people are let down because they want to play as soon as possible. I am, however mad they’re not doing a beta technical level. There is no way to tell your game is ready unless you release it into the wild and open beta is one of the best ways to do that they can do all the testing they want from the comfort of their offices but is completely different when we are running across the globe. We all know that eight out of 10 games experience, massive technical issues at lunch, but just pray that this doesn’t happen.
I was unaware the closed Beta had occured! I was under the impression it hadn't because I heard NOTHING from anyone about it!
As someone who applied and received email notification that I would be contacted when the CLOSED BETA would be ready for play................Im highly disappointed as I didn't even know the test had occurred. ( 2 emails received 9-7-2023).
I had been under assumption that the closed beta had been delayed as the game itself was delayed for nearly a year. Now I'm finding out that the beta did occur but I didn't get the official invite link even after receiving a notice that I would at some point? WTF!!!!!!!!!!!! Feels like "Focus Entertainment" dropped the ball.
Not gona lie, not a happy "potential" customer right now.
If anything maybe it ran very stable and they thought they didn't need it ?
Or they are behind and are scrambling to finish everything.
The initial problem with the Beta is that when the Nids attack a Space Marine, it is like they have hit s brick wall! It is supposed to be the activation of melee by the Space Marine, but it don't seem to work that way from the few bits I have been able to find on line.
I’m guilty of being a drama llama. 🙁
As someone who was there for Darktide’s launch I’m just concerned about what systems will actually be able to run the game and how optimized it will actually be.
This game will be available on Xbox Series S… if you have a system better than that, you have nothing to worry about
@@SHOGUN40K I would expect that this would be the case, but availability doesn’t necessarily translate to playability. One of the most recent examples of this was Cyberpunk 2077, which wasn’t optimized well for consoles and ran really poorly on launch. And this was CD Projekt Red, who had built up a lot of goodwill with the community. If it could happen to their game, it could reallistically happen to any game.
@@Jeficus yea I get what you mean mate, I was one of the many who sought a refund for Cyberpunk at the time, hadn’t needed a refund for a game before that or since. That launch was horrendous. Really think Saber/Focus will get SM2 right though. They need to reassure fans on the specs requirements soon though, like others have said
@@SHOGUN40K I’ve got my fingers crossed! I’m very excited for release.
@@SHOGUN40KThat's just not how that works, look no further than jedi survivor.
I wish I still loved video games this much; Every time it got pushed on its release date I had a sigh of relief, I didn’t get the cyberpunk drame or the fallout 76 stuff; but now that it’s space marine II??? Now I get it, this thing has to be perfect
I'm fairly confident that this game is going to do well. I may be one of the few that is looking forward to this game and have pre-ordered my preferred system version.
Would love a demo to check out if this game can be even with my motion sickness.
Let the drama lama farming begin.
Darktide had not enough content at launch. the missions where repetitive. not enough classes not enough lvl variaty etc etc. space marine 2 needs to launch with lessons learned from darktide. you can only capture players if you have them satisfied in the long run. and the pvp is a big part of that for many people. i personally think that it wasnt ready last year and thats the main reason why they pushed it back and honestly i am glad they did.
Love the Lest We Forget hoodie bro 🤙🏻
They have one month to actually to release the beta and help them ro find any bugs or whatsover. Once August begins it is too late for any bug fixes and any big adjustments
Honestly I am justifying worry about the game but just not preordering it and waiting until it drops for a day or two solves half those worries. Either it plays great or dramatically bad but I can just wait a day to see if it’s good or bad.
Don’t you love when gamers over blow situations they don’t understand at all. Seen so many people talking about a canceled beta and I’m like “where tf was there a beta announcment!?”
Good vid val
The fact that they didnt tell the specs and this news tells me that they are in a rush to complete the game in the due date. Nothing to worry about but i dont know how much they need to polish this beasy
What? Wait. Drama with PC Gamer. Who's next on Valraks list of llamas?
Pretty sure the specs are whatever was trendy last year when it was supposed to launch originally.
look i will be honest, between them not release spec's and now whatever this is the game goes from a buy to wait a few after launch to make sure I'm not walking into a chaos trap, they are trying to break the forth wall.(im awful nevers about any big budget games been so many games that where crap sooo yea.)
Hopefully it's as good as it looks ❤🔥
0:54 YES!
A demo will show that the devs are actually confident in their product. It would also align with their more "classic" systems, such as season pass and no mtx store.
It would also relive the people like me who are expecting the worst.
Also i see people treating the Beta and Demo as basically the same thing.
A Beta is made for bug and server stability data collection.
A Demo is made to advertise.
But at the same time you could argue that modern companies have started to use the "beta" format as more of a demo than a beta.
Demos were what used to get me buy full games back in the days in the late 90s, that's how I first discovered Warhammer 40k.
These days I just buy the full game based on reviews and sometimes popularity.
The only bugs I want are Tyranids, to purge!
Love the hoodie, respect man :)
This isn't the first time PC gamer has done this, and it won't be the last. PC gamer, IGN etc reviewers and journalists are becoming more and more lazy and not doing research. They've reviewed games still in early access as fully released games and done nothing but complain even though that wasn't finished. I don't know why they have got so lazy.
As betas and demos, I would say big or well know companies really don't do open betas and demo releases anymore. The only ones that do tend to be indies developers.
Games tend to either go for early access or wait for full release. Long gone are the days of demo disks.
I totally agree PC specs should of been released by now. All we know is that it needs to be a 64 bit machine. I have still preordered and if i need to buy a new rig then so be it. I am sad that the campaign is about 12 hours. After the likes of baldurs gate 3, DAI, elden ring etc I am used to and like long story games.
Im still worried about this game. Getting cyberpunk vibes.
too good to be real
i really enjoyed the SM1 demo. i use to speed run it hahaha.
I understand what you’re saying but they did announce it via warhammer community so I think the real problem was the communication from saber and focus, they wanted fans to know about the beta but wouldn’t tell us it happened and we didn’t get in… so naturally we were still expecting a beta to happen.
What they should have done is say “we have sent out the invites, sorry to those that didn’t get selected we hope you are looking forward to playing on release” and boom sure people would be sad they missed out but it’s clear that the ship has sailed. Not everyone is so invested in the game that they follow all the devs on social media and join the discord channel, etc the vast vast majority of people get their news from gaming media rather than directly from the devs.
I’m a little disappointed but as long as the game is good I don’t care, I really hope they are actually polishing it. I don’t want another darktide situation that basically kills all enthusiasm for the game’s future. With how the games industry has been the past few years I don’t trust anyone but Nintendo these days and that’s only concerning their 1st party stuff as we see with Pokémon as soon as anyone else is involved quality goes out the window.
I recalled you could apply for a Beta but you would be under NDA for like 2 years or so, so I didn't sign up!
Specs are given out like two weeks befoe launch...
I have a 4090 and a 14th gen i7, still feel like it wont run well due to the AMD sponsor = no DLSS 3.0
While yes I'm upset about it at the same time like the devs said it gives them more time to Polish and make this the greatest smoothest experience of a Warhammer 40k
Thanks for covering this dude i am so confused on what the uproar was about
Im not up to speed about this game, but if there was never a open beta anounced why they worte this?: "We know this is disappointing news for some of you. As a thank you to those interested in participating, players who registered via the online signup before June 28, 2024, midnight Paris Time, will receive the limited Bolt Pistol skin below."
Because this was in relation to the closed beta that people signed up for
People just want to play the game early thats all. Nobody is testing in a beta, mostly this are preorder demos that change nothing for release. We seen it a million times. Just wait for the release and the reviews and dont preorder!!! But nobody in this world has patience anymore. I want i want i want is all that people now
ok, it isnt rocket science, if theyre currently spending time optimising the game then its difficult to put out the system requirements with any degree of certainty. 'System Requirements' by definition are a measurement against a pre-determined performance metric or benchmark, if that benchmark isnt yet defined because its undergoing optimisation then the developer needs to complete that work before stating the system requirements.
at this stage people don't want approximate requirements, they want to know if they can run it or not, and unfortunately there is significant risk attached to the developers putting out a benchmark before they've established it.
Optimisation is good for the game, patience is good for your sanity . . stay healthy people!
one thing for sure gtx 1050 ti ain't running it
PC Gamer misinformed? Say it ain't so. It's not like they do sell out their reviews to gaming companies.
And he keeps claiming hes not a llama farmer
Beta or no beta as long as they don't push the release back any more than they have already I don't care.
Can’t touch the game until reviews come out. Love Warhammer. But something doesn’t smell right about the game.
Well, even today I don't see open betas as something casual. Some publishers do it for some games, others don't. That's none of my concern and not of interest for me.

'Addressing' hahaha so formal.
Not having a Beta so they can focus on finishing the game is kind of a weird shift of perspective, a stress test is tried and tested, least one would assume.
Also PC gamer are hacks.
Wearing my Tux as I reply to this.
this gonna be like cyberpunk fiasco
The sky is falling
As a filthy pleb I play on a PS5, and I got one just for this kind of situation!
Game is either going to run like absolute crap or will be full of bugs .
Hence offering the free bolter rather than having the beta.
Ill bet an 40k army that PC Gamer knew that already but they wanted the backlash and arguments since it makes the numbers grow ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Let's just hope it doesn't launch like Cyberpunk 2077 did. Even with bugs, Space Marine 2 should at least live up to the hype!
I’m honestly good with no beta, polish the game as much as you can, make sure it’s not buggy mess,if you not sure don’t buy it watch reviews and hopefully we will get PC specs.
Games not going anywhere. I dont know why people need to know so desperately they are crying over it. The game will come out. You can just watch other people run the game on their hardware before you decide to buy it.
It all has to do with FOMO
People desperately want to be there on launch day or part of the experience of being the first to play and have a feeling of "being ahead of the rest"
Man I hope it isn't going to be as graphics intensive as Alan Wake 2. That game was a curveball when it comes to PC specs.
We literally have the full game coming out - I understand the reasoning of a “network test,” but they look to have this handled, and we’ll have the true multiplayer in full in our hands shortly.
Also, Day 59 asking for TRUE crossplay confirmation (not that damn game rant article that links back to itself and never says it directly)
Its mad that you can preorder the game and yet there isnt even system requirements available for it.
Ain't going to buy until I see the final product
Completely understandable, you do you brother.
You're unfortunately very wrong about this since Saber Interactive officially apologized for them cutting the open beta test. There was indeed one people could sign up for as well. If they were never having one why did they apologize and give out a cosmetic Bolt pistol skin to people who had already signed up for it. The articles are in fact correct.
You just went defense mode when the company themselves officially apologized.....You also made a video mentioning them saying they cancelled the open beta test.....So what the hell is this. You even said you were disappointed in that video.
Oh No. Anyways.

*If you have any modicum of doubt - never ever preorder. I'm just gambling that it'll be good.

I find it baffling people worried about there computer not being strong enough. Ps5 costs 400 pound. Why do people neeeeed to play on pc. If you can’t afford a 2.5k pc that can play it in 4k beautifully get a console. Still enjoy it just as much.
Well if they didnt state it they didnt state it. End of.

People always seem to be hoping for the worse nowadays which is sad.
If you are that desperate to know what the required PC specs are when they havent told us yet just look to what is equivalent to PS5 and xbox and get better than that as a baseline because they will be releasing on all platforms at the same time so thats the most logical way to go about it
