I gotta say there is no more pleasurable experience than gettin an old muscle car to roar to life. My brother has now got my Dad's '65 Buick that I'll take our Dad out for a ride in on nice summer days and getting it to fire up is just like this vid. A couple time cranking and giving the throttle a few pumps and fucker roars to life (yes sometimes it takes 2 tries or 3). Not ungodly loud but that same "aaaaaaaaah" factor hearing it catch and fire away :) The 401 nailvalve had a bit of a "lumpy" cam from the factory and makes it all the more enjoyable getting to hear her warm up and let me know when she's ready to get goin. I sound like an old timer but I'm only 31. I rock around in an '07 Mustang GT but the thrill of driving waht is now my brother's car can't be matched by any. You get so much feedback from old cars that you don't from new ones and makes you feel even more in touch with them. I tell my Dad every time we go out I love driving that car and hate when it gets put away for the winter, because that means another 6 months or so of not being able to drive it LOL!
My first car was a 68 Dodge Charger it was built everytime i go through drive-thrus they would get mad at me because it would rattle the walls i loved it lol. Miss that old car
OMG, you damn lucky dog-that mopar is a work of art. Very impressive sound, the cam must be a solid lift-if not then pretty close to that. Enjoy it bro, you don't see them often or at least often enough.
My first car was a 1971 cuda with a 440. I paid $600 dollars for it because people could not afford the insurance or gas for it. They were selling dirt cheap in the 70s because of the gas crunch. What a fantastic introduction to driving.
Took my kids years ago to visit family in Chicago...They have cigarette boat races in Lake Michigan every summer. Was walking along the Naval Pier and a cigarette boat was sitting there idling and the sound was echoing off the pier walls...and it sounded exactly like this.To many of the visitors and tourists i'm sure they thought it was irritating noise but for me it was music ! ! ! Oh and there was a Coast Guard boat sitting at the end of the pier to keep the wild animal in check !
Sounds good once it started. Man clean that garage out. Cars so close together. I just spent about $6500 putting a foundation and a nice new shed structure so I could clean my garage out of everything except for the cars, two tool boxes , and the compressor.
I had neighbors that lived downstairs from me when I was in the Air Force that would be partying loudly at 3:00 in the morning when I got home from the track. Laying my Pioneer 88s face down and blasting Led Zeppelin worked for awhile. When it stopped working I'd wait until a half-hour or so after they were done partying, then take the car off the trailer. Their bedroom was right next to my parking stall. THAT worked.
I had neighbor that liked to snowblow his driveway at 4:30-5:00am back when I worked 3:30-midnights at the post office. Sadly, my built 360 Duster was put away for the winter, but I DID have my Polaris XCR 800 with triple stingers that suddenly needed to be rode when I got home from work.
Absolute music to my ears. Love that cracklin' sound of headers, capped or uncorked. Just loverly. I had a '70 Javelin with the 390 that I built a bit. That was an era nobody will ever forget. Loved the Nash Bridges '71 Hemi Cuda convertible, but it sure didn't sound like this one.
If I ever seen that in real life I'd probably cry.... That has to be one of my favorite Mopars from the muscle car era. Probably going from 66-72 would be my favorites but some of the "gas guzzler upgrades" like the all aluminum 'Spirit of 76' Challenger is a super unique car and I really like it... So I come to my defense about this loading procedure..... The car was mine, I sometimes have issues with the trailer ramps. Check out the driver side of the car. See the damage? The ramp slipped out on my OLD trailer and the car fell. So my overly cautious attempt to load this car onto my NEW trailer is the reason for the abnormalities. Also, to note the car has a spool rear end. So it doesn’t exactly turn on a dime and make for quick adjustments onto a trailer. Thanks to all who have watched, commented and subscribed. I take the criticism with a grain of salt, due to the fact nobody but Ric and I were there. And yes Ric is not a good assistant for loading a car, add to it the open headers and communication is near impossible with the car running..
The one in the video is a 73 or 74 because it has the round tail lights and external side lights not molded into the body like the 70-71 were. Personally I like the 71 best because it has the best grill of them all and four headlights. It also has the "gilled" front fenders. I am proud enough to not only own one myself - but can say I built it myself from a basket case I bought for a song in 1997. I will never sell it.
That's not a Chrysler starter. That's an aftermarket high torque gear reduction starter. It sounds no different than the starter on my 408 big block Chevy.
In 1970 (when I was 14!) my oldest brother (RIP Tommy) bought a brand new Gran Coupe. The GC was only built in 1970...334 units. Black on Black with a 335hp 383c.i. 4bbl with the iconic Hurst pistol grip shifter and 3.35 Dana 60 rearend. I learned to drive stick on the car! In '73 it dropped a valve and sent a rod thru the block. We got a 383 out of a Chrysler Newport ( not the same HP tho) and my best friend and I did the swap. He was going to sell the car to me for $1,000.00 ( I was then 17y.o.) but MOM said NO!! "It is too FAST for you!! :-(" I think he paid $4,800 new for it. I see them now on fleabay for almost 100k! I would have still had that car today..with a "proper" engine in it!
70 Grand coupe....Barricuda....not 'Cuda...2 different fish...and the Dana 60 only came in 440 6pac. and HEMI 4sp cars and only in 3:54 3:91 n 4:10 ratio, but you could special order a Dana 60...The 383mag. 335hp was a Road runner Super Bee engine, the Grand Coupe was more of a business man's Barricuda with a/c power windows and that kind of stuff...alot of fishy in your story...383 mag. drop a valve at 3 yrs old? the last 'Cuda i seen sell for 100k was a HEMI with all matching vin#s ,but anything is possible in those days when you bought a MOPAR you took what was on the lot or filled out special order card and what you checked off you could get ,at extra cost then your car was assembled and the dealer called when it was ready for you to pick up.....just say'in...But some guys Live, breath, eat, sleep,MOPAR it's our life blood....MOPAR OR NO CAR....My brain is just Directley Connected that way...lol... beep beep.
I know I just cringe when people do that if you really know how an engine works And how it gets its lubrication You would never do that Not even rev it passed 2000 rpm before it's warm
This oiling system is not stock, the motor is not stock. It doesn't need the same thing as a boner stock engine. It's pumping at least twice as much oil as stock.
Nathan Jones absolutely expand everything get the oil not just top of motor but in between the bearings and crevices oil heater was a great investment for me to
Regardless of all the criticsm.. the car is sweet!! Hope it gives you the enjoyment one gets when riding her around. Just not sure where it would be for a genuine ride. I used to have a 95 GT and I had my exhaust cut. I would drive thru the tunnels in Boston during the summer and I would have a blast listening to the sound echo off the walls. I would be in 2nd gear all the way. Those were the days!! I had her for 20 years. I had to get rid of it. 😢 Sad day..
Chad... name and cutzie drawing sort-a says it all. "Hell, I would have done a burn-out and hit the trailer at 90MPH if it was me" If you had the kind of time and money he has invested in that car (yeah right), you might be just a little careful, too.
Oh..MY...God!!! I can't believe my incredible good fortune in finding a vid of a ANYONE actually moving the 596hp, open headers '74 'CUDA!! And then I got to learn about some of the MODS on the beast! "Goodies" indeed! I'll bet you made a TON of money racing that monster. @Steven Gallant, I was really gonna thrash you with your last comment, ....like really bad. But decided not to. I don't need to be a keyboard super hero. ........But I am a proud supporter of lifelong marriages. I don't know what went wrong with you two, but the contribution to the fail is double sided. ....You in part wrong. She in part wrong. Who initiated, does not matter, just the ripple of pain, creates behavior that is unnecessary. You once loved her, and likewise you are to her. It is still there. But the excessive pain and retaliation exposed the cruelty, and much unkind behavior. She, deep down, is a good woman, and likewise with yourself. You once love each other, and it is still there. Hate have just fully matured, that love can no longer be seen. But it is there. Just remember the good things in her, and when she favored you. Stop listening to people with failed marriages, and bitter attitudes. It is not worth your penny. Love is the answer to everything. Make no mistake with that over sex. Just give it and share it, and expect nothing back. Sooner or later, love will hunt you down, and bless you. ...Peace Bro.

The lift on that Cam has to be 700+!! Awesome!
Love it. Motor specs?
What’s your cr
Ooohhh baby.... felt that start up in Florida
That makes me depressed I had so many cudas now they're in the hands of people that can't drive them 1970 Cuda best looking car ever made
Mark Remillard That wasn’t a 70
The one in the video is a 73 or 74 because it has the round tail lights and external side lights not molded into the body like the 70-71 were. Personally I like the 71 best because it has the best grill of them all and four headlights. It also has the "gilled" front fenders. I am proud enough to not only own one myself - but can say I built it myself from a basket case I bought for a song in 1997. I will never sell it.
The beautiful thing about old muscle cars like this, is that you don’t go and just start them. You have to gently wake them up. Awaken the beast
Good old mopars never like to start in the cold!
I used to have a 1976 Dodge Power Wagon. @1:15 you can never mistake the sound of an older Dodge starter. Love it ! Awesome car too!:)
That's not a Chrysler starter. That's an aftermarket high torque gear reduction starter. It sounds no different than the starter on my 408 big block Chevy.
"Is it loud?" *laughs
It sounds awesome 🤘🏻
That is the only way to blow leaves from the garage. Love the mopar.
335hp was a Road runner Super Bee engine, the Grand Coupe was more of a business man's Barricuda with a/c power windows and that kind of stuff...alot of fishy in your story...383 mag. drop a valve at 3 yrs old? the last 'Cuda i seen sell for 100k was a HEMI with all matching vin#s ,but anything is possible in those days when you bought a MOPAR you took what was on the lot or filled out special order card and what you checked off you could get ,at extra cost then your car was assembled and the dealer called when it was ready for you to pick up.....just say'in...But some guys Live, breath, eat, sleep,MOPAR it's our life blood....MOPAR OR NO CAR....My brain is just Directley Connected that way...lol... beep beep.
There is nothing that sounds greater than a built v8 on open headers . God makes my skin crawl
This sounds authentic thru my 4500Watt P.A. 😁
Music to my ears
MOPAR RULES
Dam! I need a smoke after that! Awesome build! 👍
Beautiful car. But let it warm up for a second before throwing it in gear. Just my opinion
I know I just cringe when people do that if you really know how an engine works And how it gets its lubrication You would never do that Not even rev it passed 2000 rpm before it's warm
Thank you! Atleast give the oil pickup a chance. I know plenty of people who just jump in and run. It physically hurts me
@Herman Lipshitz yep
This oiling system is not stock, the motor is not stock. It doesn't need the same thing as a boner stock engine. It's pumping at least twice as much oil as stock.
Nathan Jones absolutely expand everything get the oil not just top of motor but in between the bearings and crevices oil heater was a great investment for me to
No other words but Beautiful! Awesome.
I've got a similar car, but mine is 1970 and it has 472 hemi under the hood.
😢 Sad day..
Looks like he needs someone to drive it on for him fod
He is being careful . Get in a hurry with that much power could cost you
Chad... name and cutzie drawing sort-a says it all. "Hell, I would have done a burn-out and hit the trailer at 90MPH if it was me" If you had the kind of time and money he has invested in that car (yeah right), you might be just a little careful, too.
I love the cam lope!
how cute you matched your wheels with your trailer.
Should have been 25" blacked out with a spinners get rich or die trying boi...ya know something for the younger hood folk.
@@someonewhatever611 younger folk are worthless. I know I am a young folk.
So nice to see that "almost" stock hood and no blinding blower hanging out of it. LOL
Who has this sound track? I have a 91 chevy 350 short bed with flowmasters. But I would play this music loud thinking it's me rumbling
Please repost and tell us about a few of your most exciting victories!
I had a 400 small block Chev that sounded just like that!!!! Sounded even better at 8500 rpm with open headers!!!!!!
Like the sound of strokers, it's like the pistons are swapping cylinders. At ideal. Sweet music.
Love that sound
This is what Art on wheels look like!
I could watch this over and over and over again!
That's the most entertaining video of a car being loaded onto a trailer I've ever seen.
Wow that was awesome.
I got goose bumps when it first fired!
Cam specs please!!! I'm building a 416 stroker -short block is complete. Thinking about getting INDY 360-1 top end kit and going with Comp cams hyd. roller cam
@ mworke ...look into some cams made by Hughes Engines and Bullet also.. You may find something better and cheaper...
Best line ever: 1st guy-"Is it loud?" 2nd guy-*Laughs*
Man, you got a spotter, and you still can't get it in the first try.
Hey with something like that its best to take your time i would think ... if it dont feel right .. then try it again
Plus that guy is not much of a spotter, I would load it by myself!
@Steven Gallant, Yeah, But Yours AND Your wife is too loose for a train, even with surgery !
@ J P, The spotter was good enough. Lame excuse !
IMHO the CUDA is the most beautiful body style ever conceived.Would give my right arm to own a pristine 70 hemi cuda.My all time favorite musclecar.
All the RUclips experts in 3..2..1..
Nothing beats a solid lift cam
could you lend it to me? you see, we have special police units patrolling the streets for noise pollution all across the country here in germany and I'd love to scorch past one of these units in that CUDA ! :-) awesome machine !
(quick question, is that 408 stroker 360 based? I assume it is.)
greetings from germany.
A cold start and trailer load Was awesome to me! I used to have weld wheels like that on my 73 formula
