I was able to drive the car the other day to drop off something for my parents...and I thought I was driving a brand new car, the interior is im great shape as well. One of the main reasons I ended up getting the car painted. Interior is great, mechanically is quiter than my 2013 CX-5. Thanks God at 156k is still kicking.

If you are going to the same location then go ahead. If you are in a different location, first check the reviews online to make sure they have some good reviews. Keep in my that each of these shops are individually owned, so staff and quality varies between location.
Maaco for the most part has this market to itself. Most conventional body shops hate doing complete paint shops and if asked will quote 4000.00 or more to discourage people.
Had my car painted at Maaco 3 and a half years ago. My only complaint was that when I picked it up, the interior was covered in shop dust. They could've had someone vacuum it out.

All the cars that I buy from the auction in excellent driving conditions that needs a little paint go straight to Macco I've had 26 cars sprayed there since 2011
One of the killers of paint failure, is the car washes, if you continue to go to them after a while it wears down the clear coat, i would recommend hand washes after you repaint your cars...
@@knightrider3766 I usually have a pressure washer can with car soap. Spray it all over and then with a clean spong clean all over...hate the scratches all over the car. Thanks God I have been able to keep my odyssey scratch free from washes.
I dint have covered parking so my 06 Toyota matrix stays exposed to the sun. Do they offer UV protection in their paint? My Toyota is peeling very bad right now with the original paint job
So colors specially white, blue and burgundy in some manufacturers have peeling problems. UV rays can really mess up paint and even human skin. They don't offer UV protection, but you have a variety of products that can help with that such as ceramic coating and wax the car regularly. That would keep your paint job in great shape.
I just got a quote from MAACO for my '04 Mustang GT conv. Hail dents included. $4,300. I'm not sure I'll go forward with it, but if I do I'm going to make a similar documentary to let ppl know my experience too.
Great question, I had everything loose but one bolt. The trunk's liner was already off to have easy access to that bolt. Once I got there I took it off and out with the lights. Same thing with the side markers. When I got the car back I put that bolt back and drove it home and put everything together. Sadly I didn't have enough time to remove the headlights.
I got a 1st gen Tacoma going in for same paint for 1300$. They are actually taking care of 5 little dents around the truck on top of it. I thought it was fair and the 5 year warranty.
Great! Yeah make sure u remove everything (headlights, brake light, etc) for a better finishing. Glad they are fixing the dents, at my location they did a few dents, fix the front/rear bumper. Remember to take photo of everything just in case something comes out wrong.

kaimanson K they are painting everything including the bed. The maaco here has pretty good reviews, and they did my dads old 72 el Camino and it looked great.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I Saw a patch of primer, maybe a ding, on the hood in front of the passengers washer nozzle. there is a ugly dip in the paint on the finished job where it was . it looks like they didnt even try to fix it!. That they missed this glaring defect is a bad sign. Otherwise a decent job. Usually their paint jobs have a lot of orange peel and need block sanded to look decent.
To be honest, someone else brought that up in the comments about a year ago...I believe it is a shadow or a reflection on the video that make it show like an defect on the paint....but I have checked it out after a car wash and I can't see anything weird on the hood.

They do a great job at the location I went to. Check the reviews of those Maaco around your area and stop by to see how they work in that way you know the quality of work.
Before taking it in. Remove as many things as possible (side blinkers, tail light, spoiler, front grill, if possible (headlights)). So that you can get a better finishing.

@@DM-fp8uw nah leave it for them to do it. If you are handy and know how to do it go for it and sand it if you think you can do it better... remember we do it with love, they do it for business.... Preparation on paint job is the key for a better result.
My advice, check your nearest Maaco and check the reviews, after that take your car and ask for an estimate. Every car is different, also depends what type of extra repairs the body may need. If my case the body was in great shape, it was just the paint that wasn't that great, and few dings here and there.
@@kaimanson3174 if you went to Mazda collision body repair and paint specialist they do much better job! Because it's a original factory paint job you don't have to remove the lights etc. That's what I did went to Volkswagen collision body repair and paint specialist it's beautiful back to its original factory color champagne gold!
@@zztop7000 yeah. I'll go to something like that for a newer car specially if it is being paid by the insurance. In my case a 04 with 145k+ miles Maaco is the way to go. Just a fresh paint to keep the love, specially when they do a great job for a reasonable price.
Did you tape up the areas where you removed things like around the brake lights? Or did you just remove them and then let Maaco tape and cover those areas up? Thanks
I did tape some of the spots where the lights were. They later cover some other spots. The turn signal, I had to hide with tape the wires behind the front fenders (I did all that). I was going to remove the headlights but I didn't have enough time to do it. I made sure everything that they were not going to remove, I'll do it myself. I know that one of the reasons they offer better prices is because they don't remove anything at all, just the basic in some cases.
I had an 85 Cadillac barrettes he's only a year old when I bought it it was starting to peel I went to Maaco he did a fantastic job downtown here I went to an auto body shop I paid $1,500 for mercury 2006 the guy wanted $5,000 to paint it I started laughing he dropped 2 2000 I walked out of the place I'm going back to Maaco end of story

I paid $1,177. Each Maaco have different pricing I visited an Maaco by my job and it was different (higher) to the one I ended up going. I had them done a job for me before and it wasn't that great (the one by my job). Check online also for reviews. Also check what is included, in my case I had to remove everything myself for a better finishing. Usually places like Maaco would just cover stuff and that's it.

Israel / owner hooked my car up, these folks painted my wheel well back to black, cleaned up my muffler , looks better, cleaned my rims, took care of the rust around my windows, took out all the dents. After removing the headlights and etc. did you trailer your vehicle to Maaco. I live pretty far from a Maaco shop and would be a burden to park my car at the shop removing the items or just paying extra money to borrow a truck and trailer. Not sure what’s the best move... smh
I drove it there, The Maaco is about 7 miles away. I didn't remove the headlights, just the tail lights and side markers. The reason that I couldn't remove the headlights, was because they were closing at 12pm and didn't have enough time to make it there on time. For the tail lights I only left one bolt tighten by hand holding it and once I was there was faster to get everything out. Most of the time the bumper cover needs to be removed, in order to get the headlights out, just leave it with two bolts holding it, as well as the headlights..so once u get there is just remove to things and remove everything out.
I think the final result is awesome. I’m in Atlanta and I was going to go to a different Maaco to see what their price would be. I have a 2005 Nissan Altima that was in great shape with only 80,000 mi on it that my mom gave me. It has that same issue yours did with the pain on the roof. I was quoted around $1300. I was wondering if u could let me know around what u paid for yours? I don’t make a lot of money and need to save as much as possible. Thank you for sharing ur story. Yeah those Nissan for some reason always get the roof like that. I had a 01 Sentra SE with the same issue. I paid almost $1,200 for the Mazda, the paint is looking great. I gotta do the update video. If ur car is mechanically fine, and just paint issue go for it. $1300 is about 3 months of an average car payment (according to online articles). Just make sure u do ur homework about reviews and visiting the place to see some cars being done. So that u know what to expect. Also remember to remove as many things as u can for better finishing.

I actually had that done before I came back to ATL from Alabama where they had it. I'll do that and see what other paint jobs they have there and then send the video to my stepdad. He's a Vietnam vet and loves to be able to help negotiate especially when he feels that a woman may be taken advantage of. I just didn't realize that the Maacos are independently owned. Which Maaco did u call?...best advice take the car there for an estimate. YMMV, depends on the body's condition, what body work need to be done before paint is apply.

I just picked up my miata today. Had a few dingers and they did all the body work and enamel paint job. $1200 bucks not bad really it looks like a new car only gripe is the paint job would've been legit only if they took the time masking it. But then again I only paid 1200 bucks. I worked for a body shop before paint jobs are $3500 and up.
Maaco !!! Don’t even go there . I got my car painted April 2018 Six months later a bubble on my HOOD. I Went back, they told me I to pay for fixing the bubbles. Caution: READ THE FINE PRINT.
Hello, I actually live right behind this Maaco and am considering going to them to repaint my car. Honest opinion, would you do the premium package again or maybe just do the preferred ?
I would go with the premium. Better finishing and if for any reason you need to work on the paint you can actually buff some of the clear coat. On the other package the coat is mix with the paint (cheaper). In the premium the paint is applied in two stages. Paint and then clear coat. Remember to remove as much as u can before dropping the car off. They won't remove anything (headlights, brake lights, side blinker etc etc. They do remove emblems. My neighbor recently did her car there (still working on that video) same package, car came back great.

My advice, look around your area for any Maaco, check the reviews and take the car there to get an estimate. You can also ask them to give u a tour and check out some cars that they are working on. Before I got it done, the owner show me two cars with both packages I was interested on. I ended up going with the premium paint after seeing the differences in real life.
They took everything off for me. Spoiler. Splitter. Tail lights. Turn signals. when I got my miata painted with a lot of body work all dingers. My car looks new nice and shiny. Paid $1200. Oh I painted mine from red to lava orange porsche.

Overall that's a beautiful paint job, but unfortunately I noticed a huge stain spot on the hood it looked like a spot of dirt the size of a dime. You didn't notice that? You should definitely take that back man and have them respray the hood and sand out that dirt spot other than that the rest of the car is 99% great enjoy your ride. 👍
@@kaimanson3174 It was basically towards the beginning. I didn't take note of the time but as soon as you show the hood it's basically on the front of the hood towards the back basically between where the two windshield wiper sprayers are usually. I used to do auto body work I notice these things.👍
I believe it may be the way that phone recorded the footage that it made it look like an imperfection. I finally was able to give it a good wash yesterday (10/24/20) and I didn't notice anything on the hood overall. But thanks for looking out. I'll report back as soon as I do the one year review on march 2021.

Thanks 👍 I did it to get a better finishing. They will wrap it and then spray, if not done correctly it may look bad in some instances. I took all but one bolt, once I got there, I remove the bolt and remove the light. I was going to do the headlights as well, but didn't have time...the shop was about to close.
I'm with you, keep the car clean and Wax is key....even in hot weather like Florida. I have a neighbor that has a 2014 or 2015 Mazda 3....I believe the only time that car saw wax was at the factory....after that, was just water and dirt.....the clear coat is gone, paint is faded....while our 2013 CX-5 is still looking shining.
Don’t trust that Maaco with support because when you need them. They take the word of the paint store over the customers. In fact they don’t even care what the customer has to say. Customer support is a Joke

I bought the top end paint job at MAACO for my black 96 Vette, and they did a fine job.
Glad it worked out, I believe each location has their own quality, which depends on how skilled the workers are.

The paint was still holding pretty well, we sold the Mazda 3 last year.

Check their quality at their shop and go from there, make sure which one is around your budget and go for it

I did tape some of the spots where the lights were. They later cover some other spots. The turn signal, I had to hide with tape the wires behind the front fenders (I did all that). I was going to remove the headlights but I didn't have enough time to do it. I made sure everything that they were not going to remove, I'll do it myself. I know that one of the reasons they offer better prices is because they don't remove anything at all, just the basic in some cases.
I had an 85 Cadillac barrettes he's only a year old when I bought it it was starting to peel I went to Maaco he did a fantastic job downtown here I went to an auto body shop I paid $1,500 for mercury 2006 the guy wanted $5,000 to paint it I started laughing he dropped 2 2000 I walked out of the place I'm going back to Maaco end of story

I paid $1,177. Each Maaco have different pricing I visited an Maaco by my job and it was different (higher) to the one I ended up going. I had them done a job for me before and it wasn't that great (the one by my job). Check online also for reviews. Also check what is included, in my case I had to remove everything myself for a better finishing. Usually places like Maaco would just cover stuff and that's it.

Israel / owner hooked my car up, these folks painted my wheel well back to black, cleaned up my muffler , looks better, cleaned my rims, took care of the rust around my windows, took out all the dents. I’m speechless. Not sure on who’s the painter but....slam dunk. $1400.00 Great deal.

To be honest I told them to take whatever time needed, it took a few days. But it usually take at least two days.

After removing the headlights and etc. did you trailer your vehicle to Maaco. I live pretty far from a Maaco shop and would be a burden to park my car at the shop removing the items or just paying extra money to borrow a truck and trailer. Not sure what’s the best move... smh
I drove it there, The Maaco is about 7 miles away. I didn't remove the headlights, just the tail lights and side markers. The reason that I couldn't remove the headlights, was because they were closing at 12pm and didn't have enough time to make it there on time. For the tail lights I only left one bolt tighten by hand holding it and once I was there was faster to get everything out. Most of the time the bumper cover needs to be removed, in order to get the headlights out, just leave it with two bolts holding it, as well as the headlights..so once u get there is just remove to things and remove everything out.

I think the final result is awesome. I’m in Atlanta and I was going to go to a different Maaco to see what their price would be. I have a 2005 Nissan Altima that was in great shape with only 80,000 mi on it that my mom gave me. It has that same issue yours did with the pain on the roof. I was quoted around $1300. I was wondering if u could let me know around what u paid for yours? I don’t make a lot of money and need to save as much as possible. Thank you for sharing ur story. Yeah those Nissan for some reason always get the roof like that. I had a 01 Sentra SE with the same issue. I paid almost $1,200 for the Mazda, the paint is looking great. I gotta do the update video. If ur car is mechanically fine, and just paint issue go for it. $1300 is about 3 months of an average car payment (according to online articles). Just make sure u do ur homework about reviews and visiting the place to see some cars being done. So that u know what to expect. Also remember to remove as many things as u can for better finishing.

I actually had that done before I came back to ATL from Alabama where they had it. I'll do that and see what other paint jobs they have there and then send the video to my stepdad. He's a Vietnam vet and loves to be able to help negotiate especially when he feels that a woman may be taken advantage of. I just didn't realize that the Maacos are independently owned. Which Maaco did u call?...best advice take the car there for an estimate. YMMV, depends on the body's condition, what body work need to be done before paint is apply.

I just picked up my miata today. Had a few dingers and they did all the body work and enamel paint job. $1200 bucks not bad really it looks like a new car only gripe is the paint job would've been legit only if they took the time masking it. But then again I only paid 1200 bucks. I worked for a body shop before paint jobs are $3500 and up.

$1,177. The body was in great shape, only the paint was roasted. My advice is to go to the shop and get an estimate, YMMV.

Hello, I actually live right behind this Maaco and am considering going to them to repaint my car. Honest opinion, would you do the premium package again or maybe just do the preferred ?
I would go with the premium. Better finishing and if for any reason you need to work on the paint you can actually buff some of the clear coat. On the other package the coat is mix with the paint (cheaper). In the premium the paint is applied in two stages. Paint and then clear coat. Remember to remove as much as u can before dropping the car off. They won't remove anything (headlights, brake lights, side blinker etc etc. They do remove emblems. My neighbor recently did her car there (still working on that video) same package, car came back great.

What it cost to have it done
I paid $1,177 for it. Estimates can vary by location and the condition of the car overall. In my case the car didn't need any body work, it was basically just paint.
My advice, look around your area for any Maaco, check the reviews and take the car there to get an estimate. You can also ask them to give u a tour and check out some cars that they are working on. Before I got it done, the owner show me two cars with both packages I was interested on. I ended up going with the premium paint after seeing the differences in real life.

It should last aleast 5 years or more if you keep it parked out of the sun. The UV is what gets to them.

They took everything off for me. Spoiler. Splitter. Tail lights. Turn signals. when I got my miata painted with a lot of body work all dingers. My car looks new nice and shiny. Paid $1200. Oh I painted mine from red to lava orange porsche.

Usually for the price they don't remove anything. I was glad they removed the spoiler. Usually you have to pay extra to have those things removed.
Overall that's a beautiful paint job, but unfortunately I noticed a huge stain spot on the hood it looked like a spot of dirt the size of a dime. You didn't notice that? You should definitely take that back man and have them respray the hood and sand out that dirt spot other than that the rest of the car is 99% great enjoy your ride. 👍

@@kaimanson3174 It was basically towards the beginning. I didn't take note of the time but as soon as you show the hood it's basically on the front of the hood towards the back basically between where the two windshield wiper sprayers are usually. I used to do auto body work I notice these things.👍

I believe it may be the way that phone recorded the footage that it made it look like an imperfection. I finally was able to give it a good wash yesterday (10/24/20) and I didn't notice anything on the hood overall. But thanks for looking out. I'll report back as soon as I do the one year review on march 2021.
Look for a maaco with good reviews some of them are terrible.

Thanks 👍 I did it to get a better finishing. They will wrap it and then spray, if not done correctly it may look bad in some instances. I took all but one bolt, once I got there, I remove the bolt and remove the light. I was going to do the headlights as well, but didn't have time...the shop was about to close.

I'm with you, keep the car clean and Wax is key....even in hot weather like Florida. I have a neighbor that has a 2014 or 2015 Mazda 3....I believe the only time that car saw wax was at the factory....after that, was just water and dirt.....the clear coat is gone, paint is faded....while our 2013 CX-5 is still looking shining.
