I've always sprayed my cars, but I know a couple who also flip cars and they do their own body work and have maaco spray it. Their first experience was the only bad one, and they made right, and in the end, and got two repeat customers.
Only look at location specific customer reviews and not national reviews. Especially for body work.

Amazon sells a self adhesive 11mm chrome strip kit for about $15. That is the correct size to put back on the side strips. Also, you can use polishing compound to take off the oxidized layer of rubber and put a couple heavy coats of any type of dino oil then let the strips sit over night. Wipe off the excess residue and they will look like new. Thats how I restored the ones on my RRC. Now they look like I just took them out of a wrapper. Oh...the headlights are standard 7" Jeep headlights....LED units are dirt cheap and will throw a bunch of light compared the the originals. Make sure you get the H4-H13 adapters with them and it will be plug and play.

I am a car dealer in Las Vegas and I sell very affordable cars including old police cars.
I had Maaco paint probably 500 cars for me and my first paint job there cost me $300 for a single stage enamel paint job.
It was good for what I needed.
That same paint job costs me $650 today and for another $75 I get integrated clear.
For a base clear paint job $1400 is a great price except that they didn't quality control it as they normally never do!
Maaco is not known for bodywork and if they said it was done you need to raise holy hell because it's awful.
You need to find out if it's a corporate store or a franchise. It will make a huge difference if it's a franchise because if you complain to Maaco corporate it creates major problems with the franchisee. If its a corporate store all you have to do is tell the manager of the store you are dissatisfied with the work and they will do it as many times as they need to do it to get it right.
At the end of the day the job is substandard and $2900 for that finished product is unacceptable.

if you paid for bodywork and it was included in the price its bad in terms of the dents... but the wavey things are ok for that price in my opinion. its a lot of work and for 3000 i would not even start to sand anything at all for someone else....

It was better when it was "1 day auto" before Maaco bought them. I had Maaco do one of my cars , i got the same as you with the top paint job and good UV protection andddd the UV protection is just not good. Dont care if its in your garage but it tore through it. I wet sanded the car myself ( i used to own detail shop yearssss ago) since they half a$$ it leaving anywhere from a 1/2 to 1 inch around all body lines and edges. The same location when it was 1 day paint and auto actually did a better job, i asked for extra coats of paint and to this day, the UV coat is still solid. I wet sanded that car and it was like glass. Everyone thought it was a $5k paint job or more. $2900 dollars and they didn't do body work , take it back. Also, the paint always looks thin. It doesn't look thick.. I would take it back. If you paid for the dents and bodywork and they didn't do it and its on your order / receipt, take it back.

Take it back! But that is the reputation of Maaco. They are known for shotty jobs. Point out the drips too. That's caused by painters not letting the paint rest between coats. That is a painters mistake ( I wouldn't be surprised if they are rushed). For what you paid for I would at least be ok with the waves in the paint but not the dents.

The first response is right. I would take it back to macco and dispute the finish. The paint and the body repair is good but could've been better for: $3000.00, their is always a few collision places that could do outstanding work for the same price as macco. It's just a matter of finding those gems that believe in their work. These are the same places that break down on paper whatever they'll charge you for. I'm thankful for your video (thumbs down only because macco use to be better) the way they painted your vehicle it may encourage rust sooner than before your paint job. Hopefully they did the prep work properly before the paint job. Hope for the best for you and Land Rover.

My first job out of auto body school was at a Maaco. I didn't even last a week. EVERYTHING about that place went against EVERYTHING that I was taught. THE "manager" was a complete pile of it and he didn't do paint or body work. He chained smoked and tried to get anyone that walked through the door to quit as fast as he could. He had less than zero respect for EVERY customer. I wouldn't even call their 'paint" paint. Knowing what I know, I would NEVER take any car there. Not even for a car wash.

Not being in you country, it's a little hard to know what the average paint and bodywork job costs from other panelbeaters as to value for money side of things. Through RUclips channels though, I have gotten the picture that Maaco is sort of a hit-and-miss result kind of place - sometimes it works well, other times not so much, so I get that its not a high-end, bespoke shop that you'd send a priceless Lamborghini to. In saying that, there is a rule in any western country that if you have PAID for something, you should get it.....and given that the rather expensive two-stage paintwork was less than half the cost of the final bill, something doesn't add up.
The rippling effect can be caused by two things (usually) - a) overheating of the panel by sanding too heavily in one area or b) bad technique when skimming the bodyfiller and / or primer layers during prep. In an industry that has learned and changed much in the last 40 years and now has a lot of options during prep to hide places containing heavier amounts of filler - and where guide coats are routinely used to show up high and low spots in the prep - that crap level of finish is no longer acceptable. Similarly, the high and low spots (ie: dents from external or internal sources) in the panel work SHOULD have been taken care of as part of the "bodywork" component of the labour cost. In every job, a prior walkaround and agreement on what is taken care of is usually done if there are any questions about what the bodywork labour component will cover. The runs in the paintwork (and I'll put money on the fact there will be more) are again unacceptable as a "finished and ready for the customer" result. Yes the customer may be able to tidy them up if they know how, but it would be MY expectation as a paying client that they do not exist to begin with.
In a recent repair from a panelbeater for my wife's car after being in a minor shunt from behind, the bodywork and prep was good but it was like they had painted it next to the bloke sandblasting the next job. There was so much crap sitting in the paint - and being a silver car, it looked like we had reversed at speed into a huge swarm of mosquitoes. I told them I was not accepting it and it had to be redone. What came back was so perfect that - as well as thanking them personally and acknowledging how great it looked - I gave them a rave review on their social media and website pages, although I did mention that they didn't get it right first time.
If you do not complain, you do not get an opportunity for a change in the result you've been given and the company does not get a chance to right the wrong or put steps in place to stop it happening again (if they care at all about repeat business, customer service and their name / reputation in general). If you complain and they basically tell you to shove it where the sun don't shine, well, social media is a pretty good platform for getting the word out, isn't it? Or...at least you know where not to take a vehicle next time if you want it to look good and get what you pay for.
The lesson I think is to convey or manage expectation and always make sure you know what work will be done for the money you will be handing over BEFORE they start the job by walking around the car and either noting or marking areas to be addressed. If you did this, then you have grounds to go back and demand either a full refund or that they correct the work - whichever suits best. Also if you did not ask them to remove the side mouldings, then they should NOT have removed the side mouldings and any damage cause by said removal is on THEIR time and dime to repair, not yours.
In saying all that, I think the vehicle looks great from a distance, will be awesome inside once completed and was worth the paint job to make it look better.

3k is a very cheap overall. The material cost alone at a “real” body shop would be a significant part of that alone, even at cost. Im fairly certain Maacao is a mask and spray place, the “body work” you paid for is probably mostly for the labor time for the “r&i’s” of all the parts taken off, not necessarily to swipe and block every panel on the vehicle. I work at a dealership body shop, unless your doing it yourself your paying 2-3 times that but it would look good.

Idk I brought a few cars in there to get them painted and what I’ve learned Atleast for the stores here is the reason they get such a bad reputation is because they do cheap paint single stage jobs when a lot of people won’t. Then people get upset that their cheap paint dosnt last. It’s like paying a tire store to put on dry rot tires. But if you spend more like I have they do great work. But that’s the store where I live. Every stores different with different people and different standards.
