Hey, Chris, I'm a flash light collector of sorts . Last year, I picked up, I would consider to be my now favorite torch of the size and class you are now showing. It is the Rofis MR70. What makes this in my opinion a very unique torch is all the multi function capabilities. 3500 Lumens on turbo using a 5500 MAH 26650 sporting a CREE XHP70 led and the side led at 200 lumens (acts as a night light when tenting) sporting a CREE XP-G2 . Once you charge the main battery you can also discharge the main battery via usb cable,so you can charge your phone etc. by simply discharging the main battery. having that dual light when camping is very handy.
I got mine a month or two ago for $25 because the guy who owned it said it didn't work and it wouldn't charge! The micro USB port is faulty but I can simply charge the batteries on a standalone charger and this thing is good to go again! Sure, I miss the ability to charge the light with a USB cable but... the Fenix PD32 was my Most TREASURED torch for years and you couldn't recharge the batteries without removing them so I don't really care. I absolutely love my new Klarus ... And i got it for ONLY $25.00!!!
Kind of similar to my Klarus 360X3. Mostly just a bigger battery and a different tail switch. I hope they eventually switch the charge port to a USB-C to match all my other USB-C devices.
I have a 3200 lumen Klarus XT11X. The one feature I like about this model is that tail switch protector. I'd have my flashlight on my belt while sitting down and I'd smell something burning. After a little investigation, I saw smoke pouring from my Klarus holster! The flashlight had switched on in turbo mode and all those lumens were being absorbed by the top strap!!!
OK, ordered Klarus XT21X with extra battery and I'm excited about it. But I wish this video had come out before I bought 4 Fenix lights the day before yesterday. I hope the Klarus holds up. We've been using Fenix handheld and head lamps for years and I've yet to have one fail. We have ~17 Fenix lights, and just added 3 small Olights.
Thank you for this. I lost my XT11 (?) in a sinkhole last Sunday (long story, I'm a caver in Jamaica) and have to replace it asap. I have bat researchers coming here from the US in ten days whom I'm working with, and can get them to bring a new light to avoid the 60% customs I'd otherwise pay, if I have Amazon ship it to them. Found your vid while researching it. Good stuff.
Your customs people are ridiculous, went to that country for leisure and snapping pictures, spent about 1 hour arguing with some customs twit who wanted to extort me for money because of my gear. Loved Jamaica but hated the corrupt individuals running it.
@@daddybeagleaz907 Yeah, it's terrible. Recently, I had a friend who went up to Chicago for 5 days. I had a Scurion 1500 shipped to that address so he could bring it in for me duty-free. The light cost 925 US$ (it's the best headlamp on the planet), so that saved me about 600.
Just got the xt21x pro , mode switching does not work after changing to outdoor once. Also memory mode only works in outdoor mode. Id avoid the xt21x pro.
Thanks for the review, Chis. I was just about to pull the trigger on a 360x3 after your review of that and now you show us this! 😊 A hybrid of this and the multi coloured lens of the Nitecore MH27UV would be perfect for me.
Guys beware. this flashlight has a cheap rubber side switch that cannot handle the heat that this light produces. mine stopped working within 30 days of receiving it. the switch seems to be made of plastic though I've not taken it apart to look at it. but an otherwise clicky button turned into a crunchy feeling. though the paddle switch will work the same as the side switch it's not very comfortable for using as a general purpose light. at 120 deneros I expected better quality. i will be returning for replacement.
I really wanted to add this to my collection but am on the fence. I took the wife for a night bike ride on the canal tow path (Ohio) and showed her the difference between a $10.00 and a $100.00 ish light (Klarus XT11X, and G20) so when I mentioned getting this she didn’t bat an eye. But I have been hearing some bad reports. I really need a light that will do high 45 - 60 min without self destructing.
Klarus? Haven't heard that brand name in a very long time, i had a few of their lights about 8 years ago. Honestly didn't know they where still in business. Good to hear. 👍
I've had mine for six months in a automotive shop environment. It lives I horrible conditions, I've dropped it a dozen times, dropped it oil/ coolant and have left it on its brightest setting for longer than I'd like to admit. This thing is the best investment I've made and its half the price or the inferior snap on flashlight.
Caveat Emptor. I bought one about a year ago. I still really like the light, however, I dropped it onto the pavement from pocket height. After the drop the front thumb switch stopped working. I then tried various other after market batteries and was able to get at least the tail switch to work. Otherwise, the light flickers and only would turn on with the tail switch. The battery and front switch seem to have be physically broken by the drop. So I emailed Klarus and got what I would define as a general atmosphere of reluctance, pushback, and distrust of buyer with their advertised 5-year warranty. Keep in mind the 5 Year Warranty is emblazoned in big bold font all over the box and ads. Upon request, they wanted all the documentation of the physical store seller, even though I bought on ebay so how can I provide that? They wanted me to "take a video" of the various problems and then they had some weird thing about how they can't really just have the light sent off for repair because "they are in China". Overall the light is great, I really like the interface etc but a 2.5 foot drop should probably not cause this damage to begin with and if there is a 5 year warranty as the main selling point, it should be fully honored without having to deal with excess inconvenience to the customer.
The hours is meant for the SOS mode! Is the same battery so of course it last on strobe as well… for SOS mode is not about you being scared man 😂… is about you setting up the flash light for SOS mode because you are injured to the extent that you cannot sit and hold a light for hours hoping someone happens to see you while you are perhaps lost at sea, or in a forrest and need to keep warm and safe. Have you ever been in an emergency of cold, hear or lost and injured and dehydrated you should respect a good SOS support system like this instead of down talking it like crap… -is a tool to support your rescue! Understand it for what it is!
Besides going into convulsions when you went to strobe, I think I like this flashlight. Question; If I drop my light when its off, in the forrest, how the hello am going to find it? Its black plastic or painted, or anodized.
How do the switches feel on this light? The paddle switch seems to click more than older versions. I had a G20 and it activated in a pack and damaged itself... had mode switching and charging issues. I have an XT12GT that I have babied and it has mode switching issues with the paddle switch. It was suppised to come with a cigar grip and didn't. Also, came with 2 batteries and the 3600 mah battery hasn't held a charge worth a crap since brand new. I'm sadly sick of Klarus. Olight just doesn't seem to put out anything right now like what I'm wanting either. I may have to look into other brands. I hear a lot of people swear by Thrunite lights.
I own 6 of these and the first time one of them had an issue, the customer service said I would have to send it to china!!! Still like New! Not the battery, because I replaced it from another light that works fine - just doesn't charge up - no red light when connected to the charger. Pitiful Company!
Klarus always promises so much with their numbers, but when you get out in to the field they always feel "meh" compared to other brands. I wonder what the actual ANSI numbers are on this flashlight..
I like it, but I still prefer the Wowtac V2, been using it for 3 month's now. Say, could you possibly make a review on the Ka-bar Jarosz folder (drop point)?
So is this basically the same light as the 360X3 but with slightly higher max output on the turbo? I own that light and it's bad-ass. (edit: So basically the same, but a little larger of a light because of the 18650 on steroids.)
1.2 hours for turbo is pretty impressive. Max throw distance isn't so great. It's point 1963 miles (less than .2 miles). I've got a Nitecore that throws a half mile
1.2 hour "accumulated runtime" (brightness downshifts to prevent overheating) I ran a test on mine. I got 2 minutes at 4000 lumen before it stepped down to 1200 lumen...and it stayed at 1200 lumen for 6 minutes until it had to step down again to 400 lumen. Still, even though the 1.2 hours is accumulated runtime...it's pretty impressive.
Strangely Chris has mentioned or hinted at reviewing the Leatherman Free multitool series. Is he trying to hold us in suspense by distracting us with flashlight reviews???
It’s a Klarus, so that’s a win. Still - it’s all about marketing; anybody in the flashlight world already has piles of 18650, CR123, 14500, 26650 (ok I only have 1 of thos) and now the new cell 21700 to start hoarding and buying new lights…errr, that’s no for now. Yea, no doubt I will at some point in time pick up a light that requires the new cell…it’s inevitable (BAH!)
These remind of that kid on the Goonies who had the blinding lights that lasted all of 45 seconds. I'd much rather have a reasonable light output that lasted for weeks. If I need a spotlight, I'll break out the floodlights.
I agree with this. I would be nice to have a less expensive QUALITY super efficient light that has maybe three modes. 350-400 lumens, 150 lumens, and maybe 30 lumens that is designed to run for long periods of time.
With all of you flashlight nutjobs out there, I can’t believe not one of you commented with the interest of knowing the light’s LED temperature... is it the super cool ugly white light? Or is it the warmer more eye appealing 5000-5500k temperature?
I have one of these, and it is awesome. It is my favorite light, out of collection of 12 different brands\sizes. Expensive, but sooooo worth it.

60%?? You're being fleeced. But I'm glad you're getting a good light, it'll pay for itself in no time!

That could be used as a search and rescue light! It is amazing for a relatively small light.

I was considering getting a klarus over a nitecore, but it they still don't have USB C, it's not happening
Thanks for your videos. Informative & they crack me up.
Besides going into convulsions when you went to strobe, I think I like this flashlight. Question; If I drop my light when its off, in the forrest, how the hello am going to find it? Its black plastic or painted, or anodized.
Hopefully you have a pocket flashlight too
I like flashlights. Got lots of them. Some I keep in my faraday cage. Don't want the Russians, Chinese or North Koreans messing them up with an EMP.
Hong Kong police recently adopted this one as standard issue for all their people. I can see why!

can this be extended for another4 battery and longer tube for reach ?

I use my xt11gt a lot and so I am just waiting on mine from Going gear.
@Tim SUICIDE IS PAINLESS!!!!!
Does Klarus have a domestic service center? I won’t buy a light I have to ship overseas for warranty service. Thanks!
How does it compare to the thrunite TC20?
That probably wasn't fog , at 4000 lumens the heat was condensing water vapor from the air !
Hey chris did you ever mention jx6 companions in elmax on dlt trading. I just ordered one. There are still a bunch left
Can you attach filters to it?
I bought one and it gets warm pretty quick. Not too hot to hold but definitely beats up a bit. It's that normal?
Yeah mine gets hot quick on the brightest setting but no issues so far

how did it handle the heat?
It has an agressively crenulated bezel which is something Chris doesn't mention anymore😆
