    Excellent review as usual. Really timely as well as I have been shopping around for a wireless mic system for events/ weddings. Much appreciated

      It's a solid setup for weddings that's for sure. The low profile/tiny lav is great, plus you can get it in a white version so it can blend in with the bride's dress. geni.us/CUDL

    Great overview! Yea I wish the charging cases fit everything in them but at least they charge the system I guess lol 😂 nice job. Did sound pretty good. I thought it sounded better than the sermonic. I like the clean set you have behind you…very nice 👍🏻

      Most likely made by the same company. I liked mine but ALL the batteries in them died just short of two years, the prices on these and the DJI are just way too expensive and the quality of audio isn't that great unless you buy a little Rode lavalier mike. NOT cost efficient for such a short battery life, its like a hundred dollars a year useage, not going to replace mine for that reason.

    Hey Joe! Thx for the review. Any comparison on the battery life with the RODE Go II?

    • @joenicklo
      @joenicklo  2 года назад

      No problem, sadly I can't compare it to the RODE Go II since I don't own the RODE...which is odd since most of my microphones are RODE.

    Hi! Thank you for this review 👍🏼I purchased this kit recently and was all confident that my audio frustrations were finally a think of the past. Well, not quite and I was wondering if you could help a Newby out. I film outdoors, all the time and I have street noise, wind etc which is pretty loud. I can filter some of that out in editing, but have to stop talking when the traffic is too much, or there are people talking etc. How do I set the settings to avoid the mic picking all of the background noise up & i move around a lot, hands moving, bending down etc... how can I clip on the transmitter to my person best, without it shifting position away from my voice, same with the lav mic. I love the simplicity of this product but am so frustrated that I am not getting the maximum out of it. I appreciate your time if you were to consider helping me out, thank you

      Final Cut Pro X as of 2023 now has a VOICE ISOLATION check box that works pretty well.

    I'm super surprised that Hollyland undercut Røde on price here - and with a charging case on top of that.

    • @joenicklo

      The charging case is a huge plus in my opinion.

    How do you feel about using these for in car motorsport recording. Dual zone sound capture. One on the intake side of the car and another on the exhaust side. Then overlay the sound in software?

    • @joenicklo
      @joenicklo  2 года назад

      I haven’t done that yet but what I have done is run two XLR Mics into the zoom F6 on different tracks since I have the benefit of 32-bit float. What you described is basically the same exact thing…minus the 32bit Float audio.

    The Lark 150 and SmallRig Forevala W60 look very similar. Are there any noticeable differences? Audio quality, battery life, etc. that you know of?

      I'm really not sure since I don't use the Insta 360 but It would probably work just like any other microphone you plugin to the camera.

    Can I plug the reciever into sound board to use in a P. A situation....also do you know what the distance between reviever and mic's, what range before a drop out.

    • @joenicklo
      @joenicklo  Год назад

      The range is 300ft but that's the limit...I'd try to keep it closer. Yes, you can plug it into a sound board so as long as you've got the input for 3.5mm. If not, you can adapt it to 6.35mm or XLR.

    I have it and hate it for one reason. When you not using it, and it's stored in the box, it's still draining power and you have to charge it day before shooting or it will be dead.

    • @joenicklo
      @joenicklo  2 года назад +2

      Yeah I actually just realized that the other day. It’s a slow drain but still happening.

  • @MikeBabsBC

    If the Tx had a built in recorder like the rode go ii does, it would be a no brainer.

    • @joenicklo
      @joenicklo  Год назад +1

      This is true! The dream wireless recorder would also have 32bit float internal. :)

    • @MikeBabsBC
      @MikeBabsBC Год назад +1

      @@joenicklo right?! Love my rode but had a few random shut downs and a few times whee they wouldn't respond, so my confidence is a bit shakey on them. Would love a wireless version of the Dr-10l... Internal stereo recording with a safety track, screw connection on the lav mic input, and yes, absolutely 32-bit float 😀 oh, and a Rx that can handle 2 Tx with the same kind of controls as the Lark or DJI system..... Is that too much to ask for? 😂

    • @joenicklo
      @joenicklo  Год назад +1

      I think we are moving in our lavs to tentacle track E recorders for the studio. I used them when I filmed at Haas F1 headquarters in December I used the track E and tentacle sync combo and it was a dream.

    • @MikeBabsBC
      @MikeBabsBC Год назад

      @@joenicklo I remebr watching Gerald Undone's video on those a while ago. But forgot all about them. Do they have an RX or do you control them with an app?

  • @angmadiskartengdaddy6307
    @angmadiskartengdaddy6307 Год назад +1

    This is more better than rode go ii

    • @joenicklo
      @joenicklo  Год назад

      I actually found that the RODE II has better signal strength and less overall dropouts, however the Lark 150 has the charging/sync case which makes it a better value in my opinion.

  • @SDPickups
    @SDPickups Год назад +1

    I got one of these 2 years ago. It worked best with a Rode lavalier lapel mike. Did work really well and no problems.....Be aware though, that you probably should have it plugged into a charger ALL the time. I left it all alone for about a month and ALL the batteries DIED. Now they don't make it anymore and the ones you can still buy left over are WAY more expensive, so am not going to buy another one. It should have lasted years longer, but oh well, not a quality Chinese product

    • @joenicklo
      @joenicklo  Год назад

      Good point about it draining.

      Hollyland finally contacted me. They saved my Lark, there's a tiny hole in the case you use to RESET the charging circuit. It worked and is now charging and working fine.
