- This one's gonna make a few people angry, but here we are, my personal ranking of all 108 MLP;FIM songs. Remember, this is just my opinion, but I'm open to discussion in the comments. Sorry if my voice recording sounds rushed, I didn't want to linger on some of the songs for too long.

I feel like I'm the only person who likes the Bats song. I really like Applejack's voice, and it's a shame that she didn't get many songs of her own during the show. I also feel it's really mean to put it below songs that are less than 30 seconds long that no one remembers.

Everyone I hear Morning In Ponyville I can't help but think about the American Dad intro. Still a good song tho.
One special thing about that piece, Rebecca Shoichet has this early Twilight singing voice, that would get tweaked a bit when Sunset Shimmer started getting her own songs.

I'll admit, every single mlp song in the FIM series may have their ups and downs like all songs do but hey that's what makes them interesting, and on some level it's also what makes them the most memorable part of the show!

She made a movie called Music that was supposed to be about an autistic girl, however everything regarding her autism is v poorly handled both in the movie and also by Sia. This includes her working with Autism Speaks during the wip stages and also purposely avoiding criticism autistic people gave her regarding everything as well as not actually casting any autistic people to play characters despite claiming she would. It's an absolute mess

I think “You’re In My Head Like A Catchy Song” is my absolute favorite. It makes me think of my parents, and because my dad died back in 2019, my mom would tell me stories about their youth together. She saved every voicemail he left her.
They went through bad times, but in the end they both deeply cared about eachother.

I'm genuinely surprised that Bats is so far down on the list, considering it's on my personal top 10. All of the vocals are amazing and harmonize really well, and Ashleigh Ball consistently makes Applejack's singing voice sound amazing.
And the animation! AJ's color palette is really dark and muted, and portrays the bats how they are in her perspective, little demons. And then Fluttershy's is very bright and soft and has a lot more white, and the bats are portrayed as she sees them, as cute little animals that just want to help their families.
Fluttershy is almost always right when she gets into any sort of argument or upset, but in this case, it doesn't work. Her side of the argument makes a lot of sense looking at her as a character, but the substance of the argument is lacking.
We also don't get very many duets like this, usually they're sung either separately or harmonizing and either in agreement, or using that duet to get to the agreement. Bats doesn't do that, they're arguing the entire way through and Fluttershy and Applejack don't come to an agreement, they just gang up on fluttershy until she stops arguing.
I think that a lot of people group the episode in along with the song when they rank it. Bats as a song set up a really cool premise for an episode, but then didn't follow through. But that's not the song's fault, it's the episode's.
Idk, I just really like it! You cannot go wrong with Ashleigh as Applejack, she sounds great even if the song isn't all that great

The fact that AJ says "mean as sin" in Bats probably says something about the world of Equestria but I'm too dumb to work it out.

In season 4 "Rarity Takes Manehattan " the "Generosity" reprise is my favorite song of season 4. It really shows you the consequences of taking your friends for granted and getting swept up in winning. I do wish the song was longer though lol
Bats has always been one of the most memorable songs for me. Actually, quite a lot of the low ranked songs here are the ones I consider the best. Glass Of Water, I Can Do It On My Own, A Changeling Can Change, you get the idea. Flawless is my personal fave, but The Magic Of Friendship Grows and Babs Seed are pretty close. Those are my top 3.
EQG's worthy of it's own video, cuz close to every EQG song is fantastic. Tricks Up My Sleeve in my opinion is BETTER than Welcome To The Show, deal with it XD XD

As girl who’s been a fan of this show since 2014, Becoming Popular has always been my favourite. Rarity and her songs are so underrated, and it makes me happy to see someone appreciate it the way I do.
The amount of times I sang This Day Aria as a kid is insane! I used to watch that episode just for that song, I knew all the words!
I'm weirdly good at remembering the songs on this list. Like I can probably sing at least one line from every song

I've got to say that out of the 108 songs composed for the main series, it's insane to me that more than half of them are certified bangers.
The music is honestly a reflection of the overall show: boring or uninspired at worst, and literally 10/10 perfect at best.

I am new to this channel (I came from the iceberg video) and man, I can't begin to describe how nostalgic these mlp videos are to me since I was in the fandom when I was very young. I wouldn't call myself a brony now but mlp still means a lot to me. I am glad these videos bring a bit of something that was in my past and done pretty well too. Your editing is good, your voice is nice to listen to, not to mention how I adore your oc a lot, so cute.
That said, I'll be looking foward your future content regarding mlp, great job so far.
This is actually not related to the songs, but I find it interesting how a lot of people stopped watching the show at season 4 finales.
Honestly, the catchiest songs will always be (for me) the ones of the first 4 seasons, with some of the new seasons and the equestria girls songs.

Great list! Of course we all have different rankings, it's impossible to have the same ones since there are over 100 songs. I actually saw this thing another fandom did where they held a poll/contest for the fandom to vote for their favourite songs and then make a ranking from there based on majority favourites. That could be a future video idea :D
Really surprised Smile Song isn’t number 1 since everyone seems to love it. My personal favorite is You Are a Princess because it deals with self-doubt and not knowing what you’re meant to do

Many of the songs from the equestrian girls movies are hit or miss, but Hope Shines Eternal is one of my all time favorites of the franchise and transcends the show. Truly brightens up my day every time

Man, we have very different tastes in music! I keep finding myself flabbergasted at how low some incredible songs are, or how high some forgettable, short, or sometimes even purposefully bad songs are on your list! If I were to make a list like this, very few of these songs would even be within 10% of where you put them on your list!

Hoo boy, Bats at 107 is a toughy. So as a fun fact, i listened to Friendship Bound on loop for around 9 hours while farming in Dragon Quest XI. It was a grand time i tell ya, this song is just awesome

LOL yeah, that one about gallus I feel. he (along with the rest of the student 6) would be a phenomenal progressive/hardcore metal vocalist but his weedwhacker sounding voice doesn't lend itself well to corny musical numbers. I don't have opinions on most MLP songs because I haven't looked into how they serve the story, and measuring them by how good they sound is simply unfair. but I do definitely agree with you on a changeling can change simply because I'm reading into its lyrical content and seeing some very backhanded rhetoric that tries to combat racism while upholding the fundamental runaway monkey brain problems that cause lobotomized opinions like that of shining armor. so imagine Anglican Person #1 accuses Arabic Person #1 of being a terrorist and Anglican Person #2 tries to shut it down by saying, "Arabic Person #1 used to be a terrorist... but they aren't anymore!" that's the rhetoric used in that song. it also comes off as contriving a sunshine and rainbows ending where one isn't possible

Becoming Popular was nominated for a Daytime Emmy for best original composition.
With the piano notes denoting an air of the sophisticated endroits where Rarity wishes to be in.
The interlude with the strings, showing how her opinion is suddenly heeded by important ponies to orchestrate their events and gatherings.
And just all the outfit changes throughout.
There may be more emotional, epic, or memorably eccentric compositions. But no one can deny this track is a freaking banger

I was a late-comer to the series, and heard a lot about the great songs, but was surprised at how rare they were. Shows like Fraggle Rock (yes, I'm old) had at least one song per episode, but FIM was more-often-than-not non-musical.
This is a very solid list, great job. Are you gonna give your take on the EQG songs? What about the It's A Pony Kind Of Christmas? I know it's not from the show, but Welcome to the Show is not only my favorite MLP song, I think it's the best hero vs villain confrontation in the show.
Also the RUclips series, cause come on. The Other Side, Run to Break Free, and Let it Rain are such BANGERS!
i agreed with you for the most part, especially in the second half although some of my favourite songs ended up in the first :p
I feel the songs in the early seasons where better since they where more sparse and had heart put into them unlike the songs from the future seasons which felt shoehorned in and mandatory rather than natural. Not saying all the newer song where bad cause some where definitely bops
I personally would have put Luna's future far closer to the Top 10, but I loved this video, and your revisits to all of the songs that make the show as wonderful as it is.

Just to point out a small error around 5:26 (74. The Last Laugh) but Weird Al actually didn't write any of the music used in that episode. It was all Daniel Ingram. At least if I understood you right. I think it's really impressive he was able to write songs that fit Al's unique style so well.
And can I ask why you think Yona is trans? I'm assuming you're saying she's already transitioned, but was assigned male at birth? I just thought that episode was about her wanting to fit in with the traditions of the Fetlock Fête and to become more pony-like with the colored hair. I've just never heard this theory before. I remember it was popular with Trixie because she was originally supposed to be a male character and the animators left her with a stallion - sized horn and only one eye glint (a trait seen mostly in stallions.)
