*I'm gonna be open with you all right now...I was only about 6 when I first saw this clip by accident one night, SIX years old, man! I remember I came downstairs one night after me and my two brothers and my sister had gone to bed and I woke up hearing mum and dad laughing downstairs. So I quietly went down to the front room and they seemed pretty cool about me being up, weren't cross or anything (probably 'cause it happened a few times with ALL of us back then!) Anyway, they were watching The Young Ones and it was this very clip and I just found it totally hilarious, man! Totally hilarious. Next day, dad had to explain to me what the program was and how I was too young to watch it at the time. Didn't see it again 'til I was 18, 12 years later and six years ago now. Anyway, to finally get right to the fucking point, this is my absolute FAVOURITE Young Ones clip of all time, for all the reasons I've just mentioned above. LOL 😂*
@breacatRick: "Well, I hope you're satisfied Dr Neil Goebbels, It's Dead Now" (Rick takes off his hat, Vyvian knocks him in the head with Frying pan, "Clang) Vyvian: It was a mercy killing Sock: "Aghhhhh"
What student hasn't attempted to collect the sludgy bits from the other machines when they run out of powder? I visited Bristol where they filmed this, but sadly the launderette has gone
I’m an American and this episode is why I instinctively call it the Laundrette instead of the Laundromat .
"This calls for a very special blend of psychology ... and extreme violence." Still remember that line 10 years later!
i love how vyvian seems to have a bond with his cloths
GET BACK IN THE SACK SOCK!!! I'm not going back in there, it stinks!
RIP Rik. 56 years old is too young to die. This is my favorite Young Ones sketch.
mine also :(
Zed Tee my favourite sketch is the on between Rik and Neil on the train in Bambi....but every episode was simply brilliant
Cameron Boyce was 20 when he died.
he's too pretty to die.

your parents couldn't be angry because it was their fault, but at least they had a good sense of humour, coz this stuff was brill.
This scene always made me laugh. Best comedy ever. Love it when they all change characters R.I.P Rik Mayall
The Washington machine throwing up on Ric will never not be funny!
Agreed! I also love Neil doing his impression of Rik...brilliant!! I loved that show.
honestly, who wakes up and says "ah morning, completely brilliant, right, lets go the laundrette"!
When you live with some who’s socks are so dirty they come to life.
Rik/Vyvyan apparently lol
This is exactly what washing your clothes in a college laundry is like....especially the sludgy bits XD ick!
"Kill! Kill! Kill!"
"Well, that's nice talk, coming from a vegetarian!"
Foebane72 “socks aren’t vegetables man they should be wiped out”
One of my earliest memories of The Young Ones.
Oh no! Techno-Fear! It's happening again! All the machinery's ganging up on me! Vyvyan!!
god i love Neil :D:D
Rik suits playing Vyvyan as does Neil playing Rik.
I thought Vyvyan did a great Mike in this.
Socks aren't vegetables Rik. They should be wiped out.
"Insert two 50 Pence pieces"
Even the machinery knows their broke!
I’m so glad the American remake of this was never aired
This scene was filmed on Gloucester road in Bristol, the launderette is still there to this day
socks arnt vegetables man they should be wiped out 🤣🤣🤣
Rik Mayall really does play Vyvyan well & it's the same with Nigel Planer playing Rick.
Brilliant ... asbo sock and radioactive underpants ... best sitcom ever :D
o dear this calls for a very spcial blend of phycology and extreame violence thats my fuckn life lolololololool
0:01 GET BACK IN THE SACK SOCK. Im not going back in there, it stinks
Oh wow don't bring me down and hassle me Rik

Classic scene, 😂😂
I totally miss the Young Ones!!! Thanks for putting this up :)
@breacatRick: "Well, I hope you're satisfied Dr Neil Goebbels, It's Dead Now"
(Rick takes off his hat, Vyvian knocks him in the head with Frying pan, "Clang)
Vyvian: It was a mercy killing
Sock: "Aghhhhh"
You’d look great in a humbler, Karl.
What student hasn't attempted to collect the sludgy bits from the other machines when they run out of powder?
I visited Bristol where they filmed this, but sadly the launderette has gone
Now insert 2 50 pence pieces (everyone looks at each other)

Ice nine brought me here.
3:08 is one of my favorite moments.
😆🤣 🙃
@GlennSnelling Yep... I struggled to visualise what you said, but yep, you were right. Those were the days eh?
OI!
This show used so many Britishisms.
Is a launderette still called the launderette?
Feels like I'm living in Nazi Germany in this place lol
shame about the quality, but amazing stuff. x
