Sorry to disappoint you, but deadmau5 doesn't use only ableton, and depending on what he wanna do in some occasion he uses FL, and if i am not wrong he is using cubase now. So theres no "main" daw.
Avicii,Afrojack,Arty,Arno Cost,Anger Dimmas,Bjonberg,Bobby Burns,Deadmau5,Feed Me,Madeon,Maor Levi,Norman Doray,Laidback Luke,Sidney Samson etc. are some of the biggest names in the EDM world and they all use FL Studio. Don't let people tell you that Logic or other programs are 'superior', its just practice,determination and experience!

Just find the plugin he's using on his DAW and match it to your own.

Let's face it, FL Studio is kickass for electronic music. I'm an audio engineering graduate. There, we used to use Sonar, Logic and Pro Tools. I have Sonar at home. None of those programs allow you to do what FL Studio's piano roll allows you to do with audio clips. Nor do their mixers allow you to do with midi what FL Studio's does. Granted, I prefer other DAWs for mixing more traditionally recorded music. FL's rendering quality is also second to none (as evidenced by SRC Comparisons).
@dubbymacky considering hardware has nowhere near as much potential as software, its very doubtful he actually needs hardware. why do you think Bill Gates is rich? Genius knew software was the future, and hardware was old. If you have a computer (with good specs at least) all you need is the right software, and you're golden. Take Nexus 2 for example, that piece of software alone is $2k. There's a lot of advanced software out there that beats hardware by a longshot
most of his sounds are not even coming out of anything in FL they are all 3rd party plugin synthesizers.. logics stock synths like esx24 and es2 are fantastic. no need for any 3rd party plugins , at the end of the day its how you mix your tracks it has nothing to do with DAW but in electronic music i highly recommend logic pro 8+ so much easier to use , i used to use ableton but it wasnt good enough for me . never tried FL but i mean if ARTY is using it and he is making the best tracks with it.
@jkk45 fl studio is just as capable as all the other DAWs some features are even betters than the other DAWs. It's not the tool, it's the person behind the tool making the music. FL Studio 9 and the upcoming 9.5 is definitely up there with Ableton, Logic, and the others. No DAW has everything for every type of artist tho. FL Studio doesn't suck, it's because half of the n00bs that use it, use the default sounds. The default sounds in almost every DAW suck. It's the VSTs, melodies, and sounds.

First off, ANY synth ANY sample (sound kick etc.. ) I can get on FL studio.... there fucken sounds/synths you buy those ... as for eqing quantizing, FL studio has a shitload of paramatic eqs and the mixing is great for it as well. you have to know how to use it well in order for it to be a good program. trust me dude, i thought the same thing but producers like afrojack got me to want to learn the program front and back because there songs are sick

i am using FL as wel and i think its a good program and JOCAHIM is not a great producer his tracks are so un profesional and he can kiss ladbaks ass any time..now laidbacks tracks wel they have poor sound but at leastz he dosent use 5 samples and a filter like love is gone and street sound it sound cheap he dosent even try.

I use FL Studio too but didn't know about the mono mastering... how do you do mono mastering ? Is it so much better than using stereo ? For people who think you can't get a great sound with FL Studio, check out my video, it was made with a built in synth and built in effects !!

@patrickmisa i also used to think so! but when i learnt all the incredible things you can do with FL studio, i was quite amazed! the latest version is even more incredible. With some good plugins, you can so much with FL!

I actualy have around 6-8 hours in tottaly in one song, so yes, it is possible to make it quick, but there´s also a high chance you would miss something, that´s why you should spend more time on it. Also, if you´re makeing EQ on every sample and compresion of beat, you would spend a lot of time only on this too. So if you wanto to make a perfect track, yound need to spend a lot of time on it. so glad they made this video because people fall into the false sense that big bad ass gear makes you sound great and sell records the whole FL studio vs reason cubase vs logic war is BS...its how you put into practice your talent and skill that makes a good track...DAW engines are a myth they all sound great its just how you use it and the all go about things differently....find what you like and learn it dont buy allot of software thinking it make you sound better
so how do you explain, for example, the many professional producers who do use FL then, if it is undisputed that FL sounds 'amateur', and that pro tools sounds 'pro'? for example, listen to the music of Spor. he's been at the forefront of drum & bass music for years. not even just 'pro', but an actual pioneer of the genre. how do you explain that? don't get me wrong, pro tools has its place. i wouldn't try any tracking tasks in FL, but equally i wouldn't want to make a dance track in PT.

Deadmau5 hasn't used fl for awhile, apparently he was on reason for a while and recently switched to ableton. As for madeon he's mainly on ableton too. At the end of the day it doesn't matter, the only major notable things to take into account is able tons session view and reason not being able to have external vst's and what not.
@angell fair enough if pro tools suits your working style more than FL, but that does not equate to FL being shit. its a very capable sequencer, and if you can't make good music using it well that's more to do with you and your methods than with fruityloops, in my opinion. (that's not an insult btw, just an observation)

download dfx mono maker...... put it in your master chain when equalising etc...then take it out. ...thats one way. i dont do it like that but its personal preference.

@mezzyhandz since the beginning of this year he changed from FL Studio to Abelton Live due to there is a better possibilty to play your set LIVE which is kind of impossible on FL studio.

I am not spreading wrong information.Deadmau5 has used as his main DAW FL for years while now he uses more Ableton but he still uses fl from time to time.Search before pretending and saying the opposite of reality
@patrickmisa i also used to think so! but when i learnt all the incredible things you can do with FL studio, i was quite amazed! the latest version is even more incredible. With some good plugins, you can so much with FL!

I actualy have around 6-8 hours in tottaly in one song, so yes, it is possible to make it quick, but there´s also a high chance you would miss something, that´s why you should spend more time on it. Also, if you´re makeing EQ on every sample and compresion of beat, you would spend a lot of time only on this too. So if you wanto to make a perfect track, yound need to spend a lot of time on it. so glad they made this video because people fall into the false sense that big bad ass gear makes you sound great and sell records the whole FL studio vs reason cubase vs logic war is BS...its how you put into practice your talent and skill that makes a good track...DAW engines are a myth they all sound great its just how you use it and the all go about things differently....find what you like and learn it dont buy allot of software thinking it make you sound better
so how do you explain, for example, the many professional producers who do use FL then, if it is undisputed that FL sounds 'amateur', and that pro tools sounds 'pro'? for example, listen to the music of Spor. he's been at the forefront of drum & bass music for years. not even just 'pro', but an actual pioneer of the genre. how do you explain that?
don't get me wrong, pro tools has its place. i wouldn't try any tracking tasks in FL, but equally i wouldn't want to make a dance track in PT.

thats what always question me, he produces all of david guetta's work, but what leaves guetta to produce cause he claims he's a producer but all his songs have this dude's name credited to them.
Deadmau5 hasn't used fl for awhile, apparently he was on reason for a while and recently switched to ableton. As for madeon he's mainly on ableton too. At the end of the day it doesn't matter, the only major notable things to take into account is able tons session view and reason not being able to have external vst's and what not.
@angell fair enough if pro tools suits your working style more than FL, but that does not equate to FL being shit. its a very capable sequencer, and if you can't make good music using it well that's more to do with you and your methods than with fruityloops, in my opinion. (that's not an insult btw, just an observation)

@kasikpecah- I can guarentee you that, yes, this is his studio. Laidback Luke makes quality electro house, but you can hardly say his music is greatly mixed or mastered.
@JonJonLegit deadmau5 doesn't need that stuff either. He has it because he has a lot of enthusiasm for analog gear, and since he can clearly afford it, why the hell not?

download dfx mono maker...... put it in your master chain when equalising etc...then take it out. ...thats one way. i dont do it like that but its personal preference.
@DJnoratos No that's just for one song! It's all the mastering and sidechaining and shit that takes most of the time for me:/ Haha yea I know what you mean;) I only usualy get about 3 hours a day to make the music cos I love going out with mates and stuff.
@Rayth69 actualy, the more skilled producers are makeing 1 song 2 weeks - month, offcourse, they have more project running by the time of producing. Try to ask Afrojack, Deadmau5, David guetta, etc... how long are they makeing 1 song.

fuck anyone who says FL studio is shit. i've gone through all the major sequencers in the last few years, including pro tools and i still prefer FL for making electronic music - after all that's what it's designed for.

@ilpapele Fl studio is a really fine program, actualy is more then fine, 4 stars for Fl Studio and 3,5 stars for Cubase 5!!! 3,5 cuz Cubase is harder to work with!

since the beginning of this year he changed from FL Studio to Abelton Live due to there is a better possibilty to play your set LIVE which is kind of impossible on FL studio.
actually FL studios kinda sucks, so if you can make good music in it you are really good at music making. props to anyone that can use it well
@Redwanbeatz DeadMau5 uses FL Studio and Nuendo. He doesn't use Ableton! He has an interview with Imageline where he talks about everything.

also logic ableton and fl are all pretty similar, but are all above softwares like reason....
I am very disappointed that a great musicmaker like Laidback Luke has not even 1 real synthesizer in his 'studio'. It will be due to his limited room space:-)

Dedmaus5 also uses FL, u can find out on some of his ustream videos but he uses the ableton live as well so u r right too ;p;p
